Positive experience: Got my septum pierced here about a year ago (never left a review) but it was a complicated affair. Firstly just wanna say I think all the staff we’re wonderful in their kindness and care, however when I was getting my piercing done, the original piercer attempted three separate times to pierce my nose, all of which unsuccessful. So she went and got another piercer who did it first try, when I went home I noticed the placement for the original piercing attempts was off. The situation was handled very well and mistakes will happen (hence the 4* review), however it is important to tell stories like these just so people are aware.

Fantastic experience: Got a nose piercing from Tara from a while ago. Has healed lovely, looks so pretty and she did an incredible job of calming me as I was nervous about needles. Was very helpful in letting me decide where I wanted to pierce and marked where I think looked good. Would recommend!

Fantastic experience: I went on the 27th of September with my friend to get a double helix for my 16th birthday. I waited a while before reviewing to see how it healed. This review is based on my personal experience, as my friend’s was different to mine. The staff were so sweet and caring, and my piercer made sure I was completely happy with the placement and ready before starting. The process itself was fast, and they even took us in earlier than our booking so we didn’t have to wait. My helix has been healing really well so far with no pain, minimal swelling, and no discomfort other than the bruising and redness. The price is also amazing for the quality of service you get. It’s much lower than many other places, yet the service is still impeccable.

Negative experience: Lovely experience- not so lovely results. I had my nose, helix and belly pierced here a few months ago. Everything seemed fine because I wasn’t properly educated on jewellery sizes and quality. My bellybutton began rejecting so I went to a more local piercing shop and they said the threading of the jewellery was incredibly low quality and my body was reacting to it as it was not a pure metal. The balls were WAY too big and the bar too small for my anatomy, crushing it and causing an infection. I was also recommended to dry it with a hairdryer post shower which turns out to be a horrible idea due to the bacterial build up on the back of hair dryers. My nose has healed fine but my helix began rejecting too. Once I swapped my belly and helix, it healed normally with the high quality jewellery. Can’t say I recommend unfortunately. Staff were lovely but not fully trained. Not coming back.

The lady on reception was so lovely and informative. Klaudia was my piercer today and she was so lovely and put me instantly at ease. I could tell she was very experienced at what she does. I didn't experience any pain or discomfort. The setting is so spacious and clean. I had no worries at all. Will definately return!

Fantastic experience: I was there on Sunday for a nose piercing and my friend decided to get her ear pierced too. What can I say! Absolutely love the shop, great music taste and the girls were THE BEST! My friend fainted twice and all of them have been super nice with her! Made sure she had fresh air, sugar, fruits and they were reassuring her so much! If I ever decide to go for another piercing, there's no doubt I'll come back here again!!!

Negative experience: So desperate to feel positive about this place, especially because the staff are so lovely. But out of four piercings i‘ve had done, two have fallen out (even with following the advice of cleaning in the correct direction). One piercing became so infected I had to go on two weeks course of Amoxiclav + Penicillin which then infected the other piercing in Position 3 just below it. The infection nearly took out my 4 year old piercing in Position 2. My nose piercing (that was healing so so well) just fell down my sink. Edit to address response: I completely agree, infections happen. I was just surprised at the extent of the infection. This was clearly made worse by having three piercings done at once (which i‘ve never done before). Perhaps this is a better warning to other people, that this can be the result of overdoing it with so many piercings and how that can effect immunity. To address the nose piercing, I was pierced with a labret. I did not touch the piercing/accidentally yank or pull it at any point during healing, apart from when I removed debris around it gently with a Q-tip (dipped in sterile saline). In my experience i‘ve never had a piercing (especially a labret) ever come out. My last piercer did my jewellery swaps for this exact reason (because it was really hard to undo yourself). I‘ve not heard of being advised to tighten piercings yourself, that sounds like a lot of force on a fresh piercing (with grubby non-gloved hands).

Fantastic experience: I happened to be visiting and saw some great T’s in the window so popped in the next day and I have to say that the staff were absolutely lovely and so friendly. I could easily see them putting any new person at ease, and great to see lots of female artists in the shop! If I had more time I would have got another tat but was my last day. Some of the designs looked great. It was so clean and bright and you felt at ease when you walked in. The other nice thing is you can see in the front of the shop and so many tattoo shops choose to cover their windows so very legit. I might well book in next time I’m back in Edinburgh

Fantastic experience: My friend and I went for piercings and what a fabulous experience. There were three staff on the desk who clearly work well as a team together. We were in and out so quickly but at no point rushed: their processes are just so slick. I was just getting a hole re pierced which felt a bit silly but they made me feel so welcome. My friend got a conch and they completely put her at ease. Just super professional and friendly. We'd come on a recommendation and would definitely recommend on as well.

Fantastic experience: My friends and I got piercings done yesterday and had a wonderful experience. Showed up around 14:30 at first but unfortunately it was too busy for us to be seen - and I can see why! After booking appointments online we showed up at 16.00 and were all seen by 16.30. Our services were two navel piercings, two first lobes, and two second lobes. We were all very impressed with the speed and quality of piercing - especially the pricing. Would recommend to anyone who is nervous about getting pierced as the atmosphere was calming, welcoming, and friendly. Thank you for an amazing belly button piercing!

Negative experience: I got a dermal done here worse experience I have ever had with a piercing studio ever!!. Staffs attitude towards customers is absolutely disgusting. Not only was the dermal piercing off center I had it in for 3 days and it fell out. and was told I but have not looked after it properly and must have pulled it out or cleaned ruffly even though I followed there instructions. Then said unless I could come up that day even though I live 1 hour and 45 mins away they where not about it. when I went in to get a bar for it today as I ensured the hole was kept open was met with more rude and worse attitude then a toddler when I say no to a toy in the shop. They then had a go aty boyfreinds mum and sister .Was then told that I couldnt get a bar because I wouldn't be able to get it in my self even though it was my own choice to make the decision .Advised online there bars are £5 but I got quoted £15 I felt this was because they siplas apparently it's more expensive for a dermal bar even thought I can get 20 on Amazon for £10. When we said we would go to the council about the carry on that has happened here they said "well if you want to waste your time go ahead". No reputable business would say, this they would come up with a solution for there mistakes. Not just blame the customers for there wrong doing. £45 wasted and a scar I can't get rid of and they couldn't care less about fixing it ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING DO NOT GO HERE !!!! Edit: Thank you for your response.

Fantastic experience: Came in to get a replacement for my septum piercing after breaking the ball bearing the day before and decided to opt for increasing the size from 1.2 to 1.6. The staff at the reception were really lovely and were able to get me in same day without needing to book in like other places have done in the past. As for the actual stretching and replacing of the piercing, was asked what I wanted and clearly said what I wanted done with no issues regarding this. As for the piercer herself, she asked all the relevant questions like how long the initial piercing had been healed and if I knew the healing process for this sort of procedure which was a relief that she knew what she was doing, as I’ve had issues with others before regarding this sort of thing. Would highly recommend this place for piercings if you are considering them, as it is clear they know their stuff and care about their craft.

Fantastic experience: I got a nostril piercing here and it was a fantastic experience. The price was very reasonable, and the process was incredibly quick and easy. From choosing the jewellery to walking out, I was there for about 10 minutes. Staff were all very friendly and clearly comfortable with the process. They made me feel so calm when I was very nervous, they explained all details of the piercing and how to care for it and had such lovely energy. Fantastic experience: Definitely recommend. Went in for a bridge piercing and snakebites. Was informed I didn’t have the correct anatomy for the bridge piercing and my body would likely reject it. Which I highly respected the piercers recommendation to not go for it, so decided to just go for the snakebites and my other lobe as I planned to have it done and stretch it eventually anyways. Also had both nostrils done here and after getting my snakebites decided to double them up too. No issues afterwards with the piercings and everything healing up nicely as it should. The experience in this place was amazing, very welcoming and friendly from everyone at the desk to the piercers. Even emails afterwards when asking questions, you can tell everyone here takes pride in what they do cause it shows. Can’t fault the service I received and that alone has made me look forward to returning here in the future. If you’re on the fence and unsure about going to get something pierced here, just go for it. 10/10 for me

Negative experience: I hate to leave negative reviews but please be careful getting piercings done here! I'm already heavily pierced and just moved to Scotland hence not going to my regular piercer. I can't fault any of the staff because they were all very lovely and helpful with me and my friends. My piercer was also extremely patient with me and the placement of my snake bites and helped explain to me about my double lip line and piercing around it. However, a couple hours after getting my piercing I realised straight away the 12mm bars they used were too short. By the next day they had swelled so much they had started to embed in my lip. I've never had this issue with any of my piercings in the past. I had to swap them to a 16mm bar which is quite a big difference and these now comfortable fit. I understand it's hard to predict swelling yet it's always good to be safe than sorry. When swapping my bars I also realised they use externally threaded jewellery, which can be quite damaging to the tissue, especially during the healing process (though this may of been my fault for not realising and isn't surprising considering the low prices they charge). If I knew this I would've considered elsewhere. I also know my friend who got an ear piercing also had issues with her bar being too short for swelling too and quite alot of bleeding though I don't want to talk on her experience. Luckily I was able to spot this straight away and get it fixed from experience. Again no hate to the staff they were all lovely! It would just be alot better if they used better quality jewellery such as internally threaded (even if it meant increasing their prices, I'm sure people wouldn't mind too much as the prices are already low) or accommodated swelling more! EDIT: My friends ear piercing has gotten so inflamed and swollen she had to take it out, she's got multiple ear piercings and none have every swollen this badly, again from using a bar way too short leading to irritating and extra swelling. RESPONSE: 1. There's multiple articles online stating the difference between internally and externally threaded jewellery and their impact, calling other piercers 'nonsense' for saying this seems abit unprofessional?? 2. As needed with a lip piercing when changing sizes or removing the jewellery surely come into contact? Again maybe just an option for people who want it as a upgrade could be included for an extra fee? 3. My piercing healed within the hour of getting it done, I don't not drink and hadn't smoked either cause of the swelling, the trauma was probably caused from the embedded jewellery in my lip, once changing to 16mm my swelling significantly decreased within a day. I've had lip piercings in the past and never experienced swelling like this with ANY of my lip/facial/body piercings. I truly think if the bar wasn't so small and embedded into my lip the piercing wouldn't of swollen so much. 4. I also told the piercer I wasn't local to Edinburgh, she ensured me I wouldn't need to change the size of the bars until the 3 week mark and to not worry about changing them for the time being.

Fantastic experience: Genuinely the best experience I’ve had with peircings! I’ve had quite a few and I’ve always been really anxious and found it painful but my piercer Hanne was so kind and wonderful, put me totally at ease and made me super comfortable and was so helpful in deciding what side I wanted done etc. Had my helix and nostril done and genuinely like a 1/10 for pain. The woman on reception (she had pink hair but I don’t know her name sorry!) was also so kind and puts you immediately at ease when you walk in. Cannot recommend highly enough, thankyou ladies

Negative experience: Made my stomach piercing way too wide so bars tend to be too tight or not fit, the bar they put in was just plain and flat with a small ball on top and just a plain ledge on the bottom, having to live with it for 6 months. Do not recommend, explains why it was so cheap…

Positive experience: Had my first cartilage piercing done. It was a lovely experience, the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Unfortunately after it was pierced, my ear was not cleaned and I later discovered that I had blood trickling down my whole ear. Other than that it was a lovely experience and I would return for another piercing again.

Fantastic experience: Popped in about half an hour before closing on my last night in Edinburgh for a hopeful walk-in vertical labret and Hanne was super kind to oblige. Super clean shop and high quality titanium jewelry, which I was amazed to see is included with the piercing cost. I wanted a gold anodized titanium bar though to match my existing piercings, and that was just an extra 10. Hanne was great with explaining the process, getting the piercing done quickly and relatively painlessly, and giving me some helpful tips for healing. In sum: great shop, skilled folks. Thank you, Hanne!

Positive experience: I’ve had a few piercings done at this shop. The staff were chill, especially the receptionist (she was lovely). However, I had a few issues with my nostril screw stud repeatedly getting pulled out in my sleep, so I had it changed to a flatback and it has since been a lot better. So if you’re prone to itching your nose in your sleep, I would recommend going to a shop that offers threadless flatback jewellery, as it is so much more comfortable. Also, I’ve heard some bad allegations about the owner of the shop, and although he has claimed these are just lies designed to ruin his business, honestly, I doubt this is the case because I know from personal experience that stuff like this is easily brushed under the carpet, and I think it’s unlikely that someone would make this up out of spite. If I’m wrong, I apologise, but I will not be returning to this shop because I don’t want to risk supporting a bad person.

Negative experience: Came here Tuesday with my cousin and got 3 piercing each. Found the place very nice and clean and friendly. So I decided to go back and go get my tattoo covered up. Tattoo artist was so lovely would go back to her but not to that shop again. After coming out my mum was sitting on the bench along from the shop and told me she’s been thrown out with my son who has special needs because he had a rattle and they found him to be distracting. There mannerism was so patronising and argumentative and told my mum to keep him quiet or give him another toy. While I was sitting waiting they had a shop basically full of people waiting on their friends / family finishing getting whatever they were getting done and music in the background would they not find people gabbing away or music blaring than a innocent non verbal 5 year old child in a buggy playing with a rattle ??? I found this to be extremely hurtful that this has happened to my son this is discrimination. When going in to speak to them once I heard and explained to them I’ve came back to get my tattoo done and that I’m so hurt at the way my son was treated they all start mouthing off behind the counter. I am so disappointed that this has happened i have recommend people now I take my recommendations back and will never return here again. The audacity to say at the end kids aren’t allowed in the shop they should have said to my mum when she came through the door not 5 minutes after. Next time there’s a crowd inside waiting should be maximum people to one person getting whatever they are getting

Fantastic experience: I didn’t catch my piercers name but she done a great job - I’ve had loads of piercings over the years and this was my first experience of freehand piercing. Initially I was wondering why she didn’t use clamps - ofc googled why I’ve had minimal/no swelling of either piercings (vertical labret & Medusa) with this technique and it was a lot less painful than how I remember getting them pierced years ago.

I had a wee cluster of tattoos done in 2015-2016 then took a hiatus - one day I discovered a wee scribble I had drawn a couple of years ago and thought, now is the time! I sent the aforementioned drawing via the online form and was given a date to meet with one of the artists. There is a reason you always leave these things up to the professionals - I was knocked out by the beautiful design the artist, Amir presented based on my wee amateur drawing. The booking process is very easy, and I was given a quote for an all-day session and asked to pay a deposit. The price for an all-day session is incredibly reasonable, especially when I compare that to the last all day tattoo I had with them in 2016, and especially when you consider the artistry, the time and the physical demands on the tattoo artist. I am quite an anxious person but felt very at ease and welcome. I don't find the tattooing process particularly unpleasant but it is a long time to sit, and they were very good about letting me move around when I had to. The end result is absolutely gorgeous and I am delighted with my new tattoo :) The staff were absolutely lovely and very accommodating, which was how I remembered them in the old premises. The aftercare advice was very easy clear and any answers I got to questions I had were covered well. I would not go anywhere else for a tattoo, and I cannot wait to get another (though I won't wait as long).

Fantastic experience: I came to this shop many years ago at their old location to get my snakebites, and I had a fantastic service then, everyone was so lovely. This time round, I wanted my lip re-pierced (as another shop completely messed it up) and I was seen so quickly and the lady who pierced me (sorry I'm terrible with names) was so friendly, understanding and never judged. She explained everything she was doing and really made me at ease. Everyone who I encountered on both visits were so lovely and made me feel welcomed ☺️ I will be back!

Fantastic experience: Me and my daughter got piercings when we visited Edinburgh on Saturday. Lovely clean space, very friendly and knowledgeable staff. They also advised me on my previous ear lobe piercings which now have comfortable jewellery in for the first time in years. We'll certainly have a trip up the A1 to be pierced here again!

Fantastic experience: I was having trouble getting my triple helix piercings downsized as the original piercers studio is in Manchester. I was able to just walk into The Devil’s Scribe and the lovely receptionist was able to ask a piercer to come take a look at my ear piercings and I was able to come back to the shop 30 minutes later and get them changed. Very quick and painless. Would recommend for the wonderful customer service and decent prices.

Fantastic experience: I don’t often write reviews, but the experience I had today getting piercings was perfect. I had my septum and rook pierced, staff were friendly, calm and caring the entire time, and I was in and out within about ten minutes. Great place, will definitely return :)

Fantastic experience: I had an appointment may 3rd for a double piercing. Sorry I don't remember the name of sweet girl who pierced me. But it was a great experience an I even though I have small ears an had a special request, she listened and I so happy for the result. ❤️

Fantastic experience: My visit was a few weeks ago for a nose piercing. Friendly experienced staff. I booked online, simple procedure, and the environment was clean. All follow up advice was given before I left and sent by email too. Great experience. 4 weeks later and no issues.

I’ve had a few piercings here and the staff are beyond lovely, they make sure to always make you feel welcomed and comfortable. My piercings always look amazing after and I always leave so so so happy! I would highly recommend :))

Fantastic experience: I went in for a double nose piercing. Not a long wait. Easy appointment. The staff was so calm and helpful. I was a bit skeptical and indecisive and the lady dealt with me so patiently. Gave me the cutest little piercing. Also as a student, the prices are such a deal. Would recommend 10/10✨

Fantastic experience: Took my daughter her for a navel piercing. We were very very impressed. Hygiene was second to none, the whole place was immaculate. Staff were friendly and great with my daughter who was a complete wimp even though she was the one who wanted it done! We could not have asked for more.

Negative experience: got my anti tragus pierced here, the receptionist and piercer were both pretty rude and the piercer pierced through my anti tragus into my conch leaving a small puncture wound nowhere near where the original piercing shouldve been. never been back since and highly recommend to anyone i know to go to tribal body arts or studio13 for piercings! i wouldnt have minded as much if the piercer had told me she had a bit of an issue, but to be sent out of there not knowing why that happened was honestly frightening and nobody should feel this way after trusting a “professional” with their body. maybe in future warn your clients that youre slightly incompetent at your job and maybe even offer a discount if you do something wrong.

Fantastic experience: Really great place. It was super easy to get the appointment. I booked online in the morning and arrived in time. You have to fill out a form beforehand and then you'll be picked up straight away by your piercer. I don't remember the lady's name who gave me two more ear lobe and one helix piercing, but she was incredibly calm, friendly and easy to talk to. She was very attentive to where I wanted each piercing and made me feel at ease at all times. Although I nearly fainted by the third piercing (most likely because I did not have enough food beforehand), she was super calm and talked to me until I was fully back. I also asked for some advice for other piercings I'm planning to get and she listened and gave me excellent advice. It's a clean studio, very easy to find and staff are top notch.

Negative experience: My daughter got her belly button pierced & after 2 days the piercing came out! I emailed the shop & was told she must have played with it?? Firstly she was scared to touch it! It came out during her sleep as she noticed it was gone in the morning when she went to clean it! It was supposed to stay put for 3 months until it healed! I was told the piercing was to be moved gently to allow for aftercare which involves cleaning with cotton wool & piercing solution to help it heal. How would it withstand that? Just admit it wasn't fixed in properly & be gracious enough to offer to fix the issue without questioning my daughter's integrity. I wasn't happy with their response to my email so I went into the shop. I asked to speak to the manager who I found very confrontational & cold. He said that 'teenagers lie' How dare he! All I wanted was my money back which I didn't get. I managed to settle with a voucher after I had to ask for it. I used the voucher myself as my daughter was too embarrassed to return as I had gone in to complain. I used the voucher & got a piercing in the top of my ear. I returned 2 months later to get the earring downsized as per follow up email & to check a lump which had developed. I was told that nothing could be done for 6 months. I was told I got the lump as I must sleep on my right side. The side my ear was pierced on & to sleep on a travel cushion. This didn't help me with the lump. I am not a piercer nor do I have experience of piercings. It was your piercing again! I left with a bad feeling that my ear was now deformed so I decided to seek help elsewhere. The shop I went to were very helpful & I have made an appointment for the piercer to help change my earring & give advice on how to settle the healing process so my ear will look normal with an earring in it. I have had awful aftercare at your shop on each occasion & will never come near it again. Thanks for nothing. .

Fantastic experience: I had piercings done here by Klaudia and she was SO kind and accommodating!! I wear hearing aids and she was so helpful in positioning my piercings to not touch my hearing aids, and she was comforting and reassuring through the whole process! Highly recommend this place and the staff are so friendly!

Fatima @fridatattoo did me a sugarskull cat yesterday, what an amazing job she did of it, absolutely delighted with the skill level and lightness of her tattooing touch. The colours are awesome. The eyes are something else!..so happy, Will be back for more!.
