Positive experience: We had fun getting our flash tattoos despite Francesca's best efforts to be hateful about tourists and just generally cranky. Maybe she should work somewhere that doesn't advertise heavily on all social media for souvenir tattoos for visitors to NY.

Negative experience: Came in here to ask about piercing the staff looked at us and carried on talking. Girl with the black short hair and a small guy with tattoos weren’t helpful and pulled faces at us when we left. I don’t write reviews but how do you want customers if you aren’t welcoming

Negative experience: This place popped up on a YouTube ad and the price definitely drew me in, like it probably does for most people. Normally I read reviews more carefully, but this time I just glanced at the star rating and since I was nearby I decided to do a walk-in. Unfortunately, it was way too busy. The receptionist was nice and polite, which I appreciated, but there were no seats available and nowhere to really sit while waiting. After about 45 minutes, I decided to leave.

Negative experience: My Husband and I have been coming to this location for a couple of Fridays the 13ths and this day was not the greatest. In the past it has been more busier and it seemed it moved more sufficiently. This time it was not as busy and my husband was skipped over. The front desk was very apologetic and looked for a different artist to take him. The artist finished his client and took my husband but unfortunately was not very friendly. Didn't ask about different sizes like everyone else including myself, Very little communication made it feel like we should of just left instead of waiting another artist.

Fantastic experience: This is my third time getting a tattoo here and my second tattoo with Diaz King. He takes exceptional care of you from start to finish. I was a little, unsure on placement for my tattoo, and he helped guide me on different placements. I also gave him this design, but I asked him to make it smaller and he made it in various sizes that I could see it on my ankle to choose which size fit best. A year ago, he did my first tattoo and even then, he took the time and care to make sure that I was comfortable. Giving me breaks if I needed any and checking in periodically. He is also incredibly detail oriented. He takes his time on each tattoo, which I appreciate and both came out looking amazing. Highly recommend if you are new to getting tattoos or if your just stoping in to book with Diaz King, you won’t be disappointed!

Negative experience: I made an appointment for my daughter and brought my required documents (as shown in the website) to show she was my child. When we arrived we apparently needed her birth certificate??? And the guy that was going to check said this info was “on the small print” (WHICH by the way it is nowhere on their website). I also let them know in advance the details of the appointment and no one ever reached out to at least give me a heads up on the extra things to bring.

Negative experience: I have 35 piercings all over my face ears and body, and i would never ever go to this place EVER again. I have never had a worse experience or quality of piercing. The only piercing i got here is the only piercing i have ever had to remove in my life. I also saw images of roaches and rats in the shop from a friend at live by the sword.

Fantastic experience: I’ve gotten a few piercings here, most recently with Banger. Banger is a super skilled and knowledgeable piercer. You can really tell they know what they’re doing. They took the time to explain everything to me in detail and were very kind and patient with me about addressing all my questions/concerns. I barely felt any pain and felt really at ease during the whole process!! I’m so happy with my new conch piercing :’) thank you Banger! Also, the shop itself is great. Everything is sterile and organized. The people at the front are friendly & helpful with answering questions.

Positive experience: I had both piercings and tooth gems done here, and was very satisfied with the services provided. The staff were friendly and the place was very cleanly. However- I was extremely disappointed to see that one of the tooth gems I had installed chip into pieces not even one week after install. This is particularly frustrating as I followed their after care instructions, and they charged something like 60$ for one gem. For that price point I would expect it to last a minimum of a month. It’s possible that it was just a fluke in the jewelry somehow- it’s just very disappointing to see this happen for a large price point.

Fantastic experience: Very accommodating, clean, appropriate and honest. I had 4 piercings done with Venus. Knowledgable guy and everything was painless. I’ll be coming back here for any other piercings I may be interested in. He made my experience very comfortable. Everything is also done with a needle UPDATE: my piercings healed exactly as Venus described. Since all my piercings were previously pierced and they never closed completely, my piercings would now heal in half the time. I was skeptical because i tried to previously pierce my naval before somewhere else and it kept getting infected. It was healed within 3 weeks of getting pierced by Venus. All my other piercings are now healed as well. Very happy and satisfied. Will be coming back to get them changed out!

Negative experience: I’ve been to the other location on 14th street and I can say with certainty I will not be back to this one. I went on my birthday, got a flash tattoo, and had the rudest tattoo artist. Francesca was upset because my tattoos were “upside down”. I’ve had artist tell me this before, but they move on rather quickly and do the tattoo anyway. Not for Francesca. She told me the way I have my tattoos (I have 7 “upside down”) was ugly and didn’t look good at all. She asked me to take a moment and think it over. When I still insisted on them “upside down” she huffed and rolled her eyes saying I was making a mistake. It was extremely rude and belittling.

Fantastic experience: I cannot say enough amazing things about my experience, especially about my piercer Mimzy. From the moment I walked in, they treated me with the utmost respect and kindness. I came in to get my nipples pierced and I literally started freaking out last minute because I’m an over thinker , but Mimzy made me feel so comfortable and safe. They were incredibly patient, never rushed me, never judged me, and allowed me the time I needed to calm myself down. That alone meant everything to me. Their energy was so calming and reassuring, and they explained everything in a way that made me feel confident instead of scared. Fantastic experience: Went for a nostril piercing with my cousin and her friend, and we absolutely loved the professionalism and cordiality we were met with upon arrival, even amidst the busy studio. My cousin’s piercer, Cece, did a lovely job with the placement and answering the questions I had about my own, and as soon as I met my piercer, Remi, all my nerves melted away. He was such a breath of fresh air, and we had a wondrous conversation about the piercing, his journey in body art, and our interests in astrology. It was also simple to schedule a follow-up session, which made for a great first time all in all. It was super cold that day but the staff soothed us with warmth and enthusiasm despite it, I’m definitely going to be exploring more of this shop in the future!

Fantastic experience: Artist- Diaz King Did the $50 walk-in tattoo on Monday. Met with an array of beautiful and detailed designs to choose from. Making an appointment was easy, and I only had to wait around 30 minutes to be seen (Which for a walk-in of a busy day is highly reasonable.) I was tattooed by an artist named Diaz King. He was spectacular, I recommend asking for him. Not only did he extensively go over my design with me, we also conferred about placement, and he was open and willing to move around placement to fit my preference. He even went as far as taking a photo on my phone, so I could really see the positioning (I got the tattoo behind my ear.) Before tattooing me, he cleaned the area extensively, assuring me that i was safe and disinfected. Additionally, during the tattooing process he asked if I was okay, and kept conversation light hearted and kind. Afterward he took a photo of my tattoo, again asked if I was feeling good, and then supplied me with second skin, and gave me a rundown of the aftercare process. All of this was for $70, not including tip. It is supposed to be $50, but I chose a different placement, which explains the increase. Healing has been great, no flaking or dullness. I also got his instagram, where he has checked up on the healing process. All in all, a very pleasant experience, and I will be returning.

Fantastic experience: I highly recommend Ericka Vinefog for piercings! I recently got my daith pierced by her as I wanted a skilled piercer for this more complicated piercing. Out of all my piercings (4 lobes, 3 helixes, and 1 conch), this was by FAR the least painful to pierce. A lot of which I attribute to Ericka's skill. She was fast but controlled in her piercing which is exactly what you want. Beyond her skill, she was also very patient and knowledgeable. Before even starting, she walked me through her technique for how she would approach the piercing since I chose the solid ring instead of the standard horseshoe jewelry. I would definitely come back to get another piercing with Ericka and HIGHLY recommend going to her for others looking to get a piercing in Manhattan.

Fantastic experience: I had my second lobe piercings done at the Union Square location and when one of my earrings came out, I went to the Soho location to rescue the piercing before it healed over. Cece was my piercer and she was fabulous. She helped me with a cartilage piercing that I had not used in awhile as well. She was gentle and really wonderful. I will definitely return.

Negative experience: I went to buy new septum jewelry after the ball on my original piece fell off. I purchased two pieces from here, one snap-in and one with screw-on balls. The associate helped me change my jewelry to the snap-in, and she was very nice. However, I asked about the second piece as a backup while still having my original jewelry intact, and she never mentioned that it was far too small. I didn’t notice the size difference until I got home. When I tried it on, it was clearly too small for my nose. I ended up paying an overpriced amount for standard septum jewelry that I can’t even wear.

Negative experience: i came in with my sister for the friendsday wednesday deal and when we came in we made sure to ask if my sister gets a piercing and i get a tattoo if we still get the deal for the both of us and the person at the front desk said yes we just hav to tell our piercer/tattoo artist. my sister gets her piercing, gets the 10% off, everything’s good. i get my tattoo and go to pay and tell my tattoo artist how my sister and i were doin the deal and she goes to ask the guy at the front desk just to make sure. the guy proceeds to tell me that the deal is for returning customers only. we had already been told that we would get the deal and i rechecked there website and nowhere does it specifically say the daily deals are for returning customers only. i told the guy that we had already been told it was ok and my sister had gotten the deal for her piercing and the guy proceeds to ask “who told u that”. i didnt come here to get any employee in trouble so i just said it was fine and just left it but this whole situation was just really annoying and offputting.

Fantastic experience: I was a little skeptical walking in, the place was really crowded and the staff at the front were obviously overwhelmed and not super welcoming but Diaz made the experience for me. He was so friendly and professional. His attention to detail and care for his work made me feel super confident and comfortable. Fantastic experience: Love the experience here, so quick clean and an easy, was in and out in 30 mins with also getting my ears done along with a flash tattoo, I had the pleasure of getting my tattoo done with Diaz who was amazing!!! And made me feel so comfortable for my first tattoo!! Overall he was awesome and I LOVE my tattoo!!

Negative experience: Went there to get 2 ear piercings in November for my birthday. I got there about 10 minutes before my appointment to check in, did the whole waiver, then was told to sit and wait for my piercer, Minzy I think? I waited for over 45 minutes, watching people who came in after me get pierced and leave. When it was finally my turn, the piercer did not even apologize for the wait. The piercings went fine, however she did not warm be before sticking the needle through my ear, which I would have appreciated. The 2 piercings took about 10 minutes total, and it felt a bit rushed given that each piercing was allegedly booked for 15 minutes each. In the end, she made me follow her Instagram in order to receive the after care instructions. I feel like this is very weird and unprofessional, as it felt like she was just trying to raise her follower account and doing so by withholding the aftercare instructions. I unfollowed her immediately after. One of my piercings has been healing at a downward angle. Overall, after about an hour of waiting, hasty service, and uncomfortable behavior, I did not enjoy my experience here. The only good thing was the price.

Fantastic experience: I’ve gotten a few tattoos here (including my first ever!) and they’ve all healed wonderfully. However I want to highlight my most recent tattoo!! It was done by Diaz King and I can’t wait to go back to have him do more tattoos for me in the future!! I had seen his work, followed him on instagram, and just knew I could trust him with my tattoo — and I wasn’t disappointed. I had a vision in mind of a Saturn tattoo in honor of my Saturn return completion and had some reference pictures but either they were too basic or had too much going on for what I wanted. He made me the Goldilocks tattoo (the one that’s just right). He was diligent in the artistry of creating it and locked it for the tattoo process. He made sure it was what I liked (placement and size) and was clear and accommodating about any adjustments needed but he placed it perfectly the first time. A great balance of sharing his wisdom/craft and respecting what I wanted. I can’t say enough positive things about my experience!

Negative experience: Worst Live By The Sword location for sure. I've had one mid experience here other than that staff has been either been unhelpful or condescending. On my most recent visit I stood at the front desk for about three minutes most staff passing without making eye contact, the best I got was a glance from one worker who then proceeded to fix her hair in the mirror. Rank vibes. I love the Williamsburg and Union location tho.

Fantastic experience: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Absolutely incredible piercing experience with Joey C (Ridix_Piercings) at Live By the Sword Soho! Shoutout to Joe for being above and beyond in every possible way. I went in yesterday super anxious and (very) indecisive about what I wanted, but Joe made the entire process an actual breeze. After a thoughtful ear consultation, we decided on a Daith, Conch, and Flat—all piercings I had put off for ages because of past bad healing experiences. But this time? Completely different. Joe was genuinely the nicest, most knowledgable, and most professional piercer I’ve ever met. Not only did he take his time considering my ear anatomy and even my veins to ensure the safest and best placement (he’s the first piercer i've been to who has ever done that!), but the piercings themselves were virtually painless. Obviously everyone’s tolerance is different, but the way he pierced was so quick, precise, and gentle that I barely felt a thing other than pressure. Today they’re barely sore or swollen at all, no bleeding, and I literally feel nothing from my conch or daith. Unreal. He also helped downsize a few older piercings and helped me choose extra jewelry for my stack. Joe is truly a legend, his expertise shows that he cares deeply about both the art of piercing and the client in his chair. If you’ve been scared to get pierced or have had bad experiences in the past, go to Joe. I walked in nervous and walked out comfortable and ready for more! Thank you SO much, Joe and LBTS!
