Negative experience: my first tattoo from here was fine. millie was sweet and did a good job of it and the experience went smoothly. i was happy enough so i booked a second one i did it two months in advance to ensure i got the booking on a specific date for my birthday. it was going fine until two days before the appointment. vivid ink emailed me letting me know they wouldn’t be able to do the appointment at the time i was booked in for and offered other available time slots i have a busy schedule and couldn’t make it so i asked for my deposit back instead. that wasn’t the problem as i understand things come up last minute and the artist may not have been able to make it. that’s fine. the problem is what came next vivid ink refused to give me my deposit back after i explained that i wasn’t able to make the times offered and just wanted my money back if it couldn’t happen. it took a week of back and forth contact for them to give me my deposit back they lied to me by trying to convince me that they had offered me the same time with a different artist and i had refused that. that wasn’t the case at all and when i showed proof of the initial email i received that absolutely did not state i could have the same time slot with a different person, they agreed to give me my refund and tried to say that they had mentioned it in the voicemail they’d left me too which they didn’t, by the way. if i was offered a different artist i would’ve taken it. i’m not upset by the fact that vivid ink cancelled on me, i’m upset by the fact that they lied to me and tried to frame me as a liar. but by that point i was so done with them that i just got my refund and vowed to never give them my money again. absolutely shocking i think

Negative experience: I am leaving a negative review for unwillingness to provide designs before the day of the tattoo, despite communicating otherwise and the use of AI to create designs and stencils, which completely ruined the image on the day. To start with the positives the people at the reception are very nice, responsive and helpful over email and in person. I was also given a no hassle refund of the deposit on the day when I faced these issues. I asked a month ahead of the tattoo to see the design a few days ahead of time, which I was assured would happen. When that time came round, I received nothing. I continued to follow up, and was constantly assured I would receive the design, which again never happened until the day of. I was told any adjustments would be made at the time of the appointment. As this is a decision for life, this made me very uncomfortable. When I received the design on the day, it was made completely by AI. This design was going to be used as the stencil. The AI tool had completely botched the overall design. I was assured details would be fleshed out by hand from the original reference, but it has ruined other aspects like limb placement and proportions, which had been put onto the stencil. This would have left me with a tattoo I regretted greatly, if I didn't spot them in the very small window I was given each time to say yes or no to the design. This overall led to the feeling of being on a conveyor belt, not being handled with time and care. If the tool being used is making these glaring mistakes, it should not be used, it should be done by the hand of a caring artist. This is what I thought I would be receiving when looking at the shops reviews.

Fantastic experience: I had my cover up done over a couple of sessions and the artist who completed the work (Vijay) was amazing throughout the whole process. From the initial consultation, going over ideas and showing me designs, to the first and then the final session, he was brilliant all the way through. There was great banter during both sessions, he was patient and really took the time and care to do the amazing work on my arm. The rest of the staff at Vivid Ink were so friendly during each visit and I'll definitely be going back again for the next stages of completing my tattoo

Fantastic experience: I had my ears pierced by Jodie, and honestly, she deserves a gold medal. She was incredibly professional, patient, and made sure I understood exactly what was going where — which is reassuring when someone is aiming a needle at your head! She answered all my questions, put me completely at ease, and before I even had time to panic, it was over. Practically painless and faster than Usain Bolt! The jewellery selection is huge — I spent longer choosing earrings than actually getting pierced. All the staff were warm, friendly, and genuinely lovely, creating a relaxed environment that made the whole experience feel like a real treat. Highly recommend! Can’t fault a thing… except maybe that I now want more piercings.

Fantastic experience: This was my first time at Vivid Ink. I never write reviews, but the experience was just so good that I felt I had to! The team were great to contact and super helpful when enquiring and booking. All of the staff were so lovely from the second we got to our appointment. My artist Millie was especially good and nothing was too much for her. She made me completely comfortable and was fine with me altering and moving the tattoo as much as I wanted before we got it perfect. Fantastic experience: My partner and I were visiting Birmingham for the first time and we really wanted to get something done. I contacted 4 studios and Vivid was the one that replied with a last min cancellation. The communication was great, they were patient with all of my questions and ideas I had. When we got there, they made us feel so welcome and at ease. We were set up with Dorian who was amazing! We gave him the ideas we wanted and he gave his personal touches and input. We loved his work so much! I didn’t enjoy the pain but he was quick and precise. We can’t wait to come back to see him again for more work!

Fantastic experience: Always a pleasure to come to this establishment. I cannot recommend Dorian enough, he is an extremely professional and friendly tattooist. I have had four amazing bespoke designs created and tatted now, I will be back for more. The detail, the process and the warmth is something I live for. Fantastic experience: Initially contacted the studio via their online contact form, had a response the next day (if memory serves I contacted late at night, so wouldn't have been an immediate response anyway). After a couple of emails exchanges with Laura, I felt it was probably best to convey my idea over the phone (I'm not a wordsmith and can struggle to explain what I mean). Laura was patient, understanding and told me what she felt would or wouldn't work, whilst taking into account my vision. I had already looked at the online portfolio of the staffs work, and said that I was keen for Charley to be the artist to do my piece. Unfortunately this meant I would have to wait (I'm only available on weekends) as she was booked up, and the only weekend free I was busy. It took a while, but it was definitely worth it. Date was agreed and deposit paid. Two weeks ago Charley sent me a draft design and explained the outline was simplified due to the line work, however would stay true to the colour representation in the image I'd sent over. Was contacted the yesterday to remind about booking and to inform me that the remainder of the balance was to be paid in cash. I arrived today early (force of habit) and was greeted quickly, asked about the consent form (I hadn't seen it as it was in junk) and asked to take a seat. During my wait I used the toilet that was pristine, just a very low toilet should you be required to sit When time to start was drawing near, Charley advised she has a couple of different sizes to try for the space I'd chosen. Upon checking it wasn't going to work (something is been mindful as a possibility and thought about alternate location). Charley was receptive and on board. We also discussed a further adaptation, as I wasn't sure if this had been relayed from my initial contact. And I was able to show her some of her previous work that gave some inspiration for the adoption and why I'd requested her. Charley was on board, asked colours and I gave my options and reasons. Process was how you would expect it, shave area, outline on, check, and begin. Everything appeared to be sterile and area was clear. Needles were brand new coming out of packets. Charley was amazing at what she did, from the fine lines, to the shading and the water colours. She obviously sensed that I struggle getting words out and was patient with me when I was trying to convey ideas or engage in conversation. The atmosphere was friendly, all the staff seems happy to be there and to help (even got a cup of coffee) and there was some cross banter between areas. Music will be a personal preference (rock and apparently kpop now too) however if you want to listen to your own stuff, some people did have their headphones in to block the world out. At the end, I was given the usual aftercare advice, and settled up, paying what was owed and walking out with a tattoo I'm extremely happy with. Pretty sure I missed something, but the bottom line is that when I've decided on my next tattoo, I'll be back, and be more than happy to wait for Charley to have a space.

Fantastic experience: I got my first tattoo, a forearm sleeve, done by Vijay (insta: vjmtattoo) and the whole experience was excellent. He made what I expected to be a painful and overwhelming process surprisingly comfortable, and he worked with me to refine the design until it felt just right. Even small adjustments were explained clearly, which made the whole process easy and collaborative. I couldn’t be happier with the result, and I’ll definitely be coming back to him for future tattoos. Fantastic experience: I had a great time at Vivid Ink. The place itself is so chic looking and clean and artistic to say the least! My artist was Paulina and she was so welcoming (this was my first tattoo) and helpful in prep and aftercare. The staff at the entrance are also so lovely and warm-hearted. I couldn’t recommend them MORE to people in Birmingham for their tattoos! My mum also got herself another nose piercing and said they were so much easier than anywhere else she’s been and have a great selection!

Fantastic experience: Very happy to have a first return visit here as I hoped for in the last review (below). Everything was just as wonderful as last time if not more so. I had less of a clear idea of exactly what I wanted this time (except that it should be a nice goat) and the artist (Yoana again) spent lots of time listening and showing me ideas and came up with something much better than I had imagined. Everyone in the studio was really friendly and reassuring again so if you are like me and worry hours in advance about going out to get milk etc., then do know that they are all incredibly lovely and take you through everything you need to know (and kindly and patiently answer all your email questions). The process was nice, and the artist was kind and checked how I was throughout. When I saw the finished work I think I may have jumped on the spot with glee - and if I didn't then I did in my head! The picture is just fresh out of the wrap two hours after being done. Thanks again to everyone there, especially Yoana the artist. SEPT '24 I had the most wonderful time at Vivid Ink Birmingham. I went in rather terrified as it was my first tattoo at quite an age and I'd worked myself up into thinking I wouldn't be able to cope. Yoana (the wonderful artist about to work on me) picked up on this and put me at ease, being very reassuring. She put the print of the tattoo on me so I could walk around and be happy with its position. I'd been for a free consultation a couple of weeks before when the fab front of house person (Laura I think) looked at my initial thoughts, discussed them with me and showed me the work of Yoana, the artist they thought would be best for me. Once the work actually started I stopped all the worry as it was fine. Yoana checked on me a few times and then I was able to relax as it was all done very gently (if that's a thing?). Once done, and the time flew by, I was given thorough aftercare instructions (I was also worried about somehow wiping the whole thing off as soon as I got home) and some balm. The next morning the tattoo was already looking even better and I am noticing details more clearly. I am really happy with the final result and already thinking about the next piece, hopefully at the same place with the same artist. Everything about Vivid Ink Birmingham is brilliant - highly recommended.

Fantastic experience: I booked in with Paulina who took the time to really nail the design and get the elements just right, her service was friendly and professional. Not only did she take the time to design the tattoo perfectly but she also listened to any input I had on the design. The studio was clean and sanitised, during the tattooing she kept checking in with me making sure I was comfortable. Overall a fantastic experience and a tattoo I will cherish for many years.

Fantastic experience: Extremely friendly and welcoming staff, I had my ear lobes pierced by them and had to go back due to one falling out, they were really quick to help me and sorted it out the next day. They also offered to bring all of the piercing equipment upstairs when I told them I have a disability.

Fantastic experience: Normally would've dropped down to the Hagley Road location since it's closer and had a good experience there, but that experience was replicated here too. Haven't been pierced since I was kid with my ears so I was super paranoid about cleanliness etc for where I went, and considering my tattoo was done previously at a Vivid Ink location I knew what to expect. Also Jodie was brilliant and knew how to handle a squirming grown man with needles stuck through his face fairly well, alongside extremely friendly receptionists. The lack of snobbery at any Vivid Ink location is honestly great, and this one is no different. Thanks to all the staff for keeping up the good experience!

Fantastic experience: I recently got my second tattoo, and it was my first time getting one from VIVID INK. Millie, the junior artist, made the entire experience not just easy but genuinely comforting. Right from the beginning, I let her know about a wrist disability that might make things a bit tricky, and she was incredibly thoughtful and understanding. She adapted the setup perfectly to suit my needs and kept checking in every few minutes to make sure I was comfortable throughout. Her kindness, patience, and professionalism really stood out. Not only is she a talented artist, but also a genuinely person. The tattoo itself is deeply meaningful to me, and I couldn’t have asked for a better experience. Fantastic experience: Just had another tattoo with Harvey - my 4th with him so far - and once again he's done an outstanding job. For each piece he's done, I've presented him with some original drawings and basic ideas, and he's come up with the perfect final design. Fantastic experience: 10/10. Literally can't fault this Vivid Ink branch one bit! I have got 4 tattoos and 1 piercing from here, the staff are all so lovely and welcoming and the tattoo artists and incredibly professional and creative and always giving great ideas to make my tattoo designs the best they could possibly be! Although I was nervous getting my first tattoo and piercing, the staff really did help me to feel more comfortable and I couldn't be happier with the results! In particular, Paulina, Denise, and Romane. Not to mention the door staff at the desks are also so kind and welcoming! This butterfly was my first ever tattoo from Vivid Ink, about 2 years ago, and by far my favourite!

Fantastic experience: I came in for a navel piercing yesterday, and I was incredibly impressed with the service I received! From the second I walked in, the atmosphere was welcoming and professional. Jodie was absolutely amazing — she made me feel completely at ease, explained everything clearly, and answered all my questions with patience and care. The actual piercing was quick and surprisingly comfortable thanks to her steady hand and calming presence. I couldn’t be happier with the result! Fantastic experience: Spoke to Millie over the phone on Tuesday, told her what I was looking for and I was lucky enough to get an appointment with Charlie on Friday 7th March(2025). We'd had to say goodnight forever to our beautiful boy Blue a Border Collie a few weeks ago. When he first came to us he was 5 and had not had a good start in life to put it mildly. I used to take him out to play he had all sorts of toys, but it was his Tennis Ball that was the most popular. So that's how Blue and I bonded, over a well worn soggy ball. I felt I just had have the tattoo of the Tenis Ball done. I am amazed at the quality of the work Charlie has done for me. It is simply perfect. My husband came with me. We were made to feel very welcome. Charlie was most professional in the way she worked, her attention to hygiene was utmost. She made sure I was comfortable (I have MS). She didn't mind me chatting her head off either. She was as gentle as a tattooist can be. I simply love the work she did today. This young lady has a true gift. Thank you to all at Vivid Ink in Birmingham. You really are a wonderful group of people. I would reccomend this business to anyone who wants not only a tattoo but a most enjoyable social experience too.

Fantastic experience: What can i say! They were very friendly soon as you walk in and make you feel welcome l. I had Lukasz and he was amazing this was my first big tattoo and he created a design which was better then i first had in mind and blew it out the park. The detail was amazing and was just overall a great experience i will be going back for me so thank you to all the team!

Fantastic experience: Admittedly I am very late with this review (it's been weeks since I got my piercing done) but I have only to say positive things about my experience. The whole procedure was very straightforward. Jodie was very kind and accomodating- answered all my questions so helpfully- as were all the staff I spoke to at Vivid Ink Birmingham. I've had no trouble at all with my piercing, the recommended aftercare sheet was a huge help for me and the advice I was given in store was also a huge help too! Overall I am beyond happy with my eyebrow piercing and I definitely recommend going to Vivid Ink Birmingham for your piercings!!

Fantastic experience: The first thing you notice about vivid ink is how beautiful the studio is, it’s so clean and cozy, automatically felt safe and comfortable, then i met the woman who would be tattooing me, Charley, she was wonderful, this was such a meaningful tattoo for me and she executed it perfectly, it came out even better than expected. She printed out different sizes and ensured that i was happy with the placement and colours, it was perfect, she had such a welcoming personality, and we had a good little chat, time flew by and before i knew it, my tattoo was done. I’m already looking at getting more done here at vivid ink, their team are truly talented artists who all have such a great dynamic that you feel at ease around them all. As someone who has autism and adhd this place was 100% neurodivergent friendly! Thank you vivid ink!

Fantastic experience: Had my nose piercing done by Jodie this morning. Made me feel so safe and comfortable. Especially when I have never had my nose pierced before. Negative experience: avoid this tattoo studio. my tattoos look unprofessionally done. i was told to have the tattoo bigger in size to avoid any issues and agreed. but there were still issues, had amendments done on areas that were worn away after a month and left with an uneven messy looking tattoo. reached out to them and nothing can be done except the option of going over the tattoo again which will make it even thicker and messy looking so would never recommend this tattoo studio.

Fantastic experience: My experience of vivid ink Birmingham was fantastic. I've had two tattoos of a Gorilla and the three wise Monkeys done by Dorian . He is such a great man and an unbelievable tattooist. I'm looking forward to the future having more work done by him . Fantastic experience: I had two tattoos done today @ Vivid Ink Birmingham by Harvey Rana and he was AMAZING… He took his time with me and was so patient, I found he listened to exactly I wanted and he was so professional and the fine line work is STUNNING. He was able to make my tattoo look so delicate and feminine- exactly what I wanted. I am so happy and would definitely use him again and will be recommending him to others. Fantastic experience: Went for a tattoo on very short notice as I was just visiting the city and they made It happen! And at a great price. Was my first tattoo and was in a painful spot but Mike Slax was very patient with me and got it done absoloutley perfect. Considering it was all line work he did very good and I expected a higher price for the pain in the a@@ I was tbh . Thanks

Fantastic experience: Had an absolutely brilliant experience with Vivid Ink and my first coloured tattoo thanks to Charley earlier this week. Every aspect of interacting with the studio when visiting, emailing, and of course most of all, on the day itself was consistently friendly, professional and felt easy from beginning to end. Charley was lovely and being inked was a relaxed process throughout, with Charley explaining everything along the way, and obviously completing the artwork to such a high standard. I already felt like it'd been there my whole life and was looking to book my next one before I'd even left the studio if I'd had everything ready to go there and then! I have been sharing the artwork and contact details with everyone since – I think my family and close friends might be looking for an escape from my enthusiasm now! I've waited a few days to post my review, and I don't feel any differently... So honestly, I cannot recommend Charley enough after my visit to the central Birmingham Vivid Ink studio; thank you all :)

Fantastic experience: Lovely staff in this Vivid Ink. Everyone very welcoming and friendly. I went to get pierced by Jodie. She was very professional, friendly, and made me feel at ease. She was very thorough with placement and made sure she was matching my double nose piercing up perfectly. Highly recommended and will be going back for more from her.

Negative experience: Probably not the place to go if you’re black or have darker skin. My experience; Saw an artist with a style I really liked, reached out to them and made a booking. Showed them the design and they suggested it would take a full day (7 hour) booking for the forearm front-half sleeve tattoo (£300) Upon reflection now it makes sense there’s hardly any photos on the artists page on darker skin; either they don’t have much experience tattooing darker skin or they are never confident or happy with the end result on darker skin. I feel the artist was more interested in making the money for the day, as a few things that I think might fall under “duty of care” were missed. Like confirming with other more experienced artists in the shop if the design I presented would be suitable or if any adjustments needed to be made and so on. For reference this was my first tattoo, so didn’t come in with alot of knowledge, I trusted the artist saying “there’s no difference between tattooing darker skin tones and lighter skin tones”. I now know, that was likely just said so the booking would be made. It’s now completely washed out and all the detail has been lost. I do think the artist has skill, as they all do in this shop - just they weren’t honest and upfront about their lack of experience and understanding tattooing on darker skin tones. 2 stars because the service was good, shop was clean and seemed like a friendly and relaxing atmosphere. No stars for the tattoo itself which will now be covered up.

Fantastic experience: Omg!! Guys, if you’re ever in doubt or contemplating to get a Tattoo… DO IT! This is my first tattoo and I was so scared BUT the friendly and welcoming receptionist staff reassured and encouraged me that I did not need numbing screen. I admit i was still scared but Darian (tattoo artiest) made me feel so comfortable and relaxed. Finally, when it came to the tattoo it looks AMAZING. I’m so glad I went with VIVID INK. I am defo getting more tattoos!
