Colibri Tattoo and Piercing (Downtown)

Negative experience: Last week I went in to get my tragus pierced and was hoping to receive some guidance when asking questions about the piercing and aftercare. Unfortunately, my experience was disappointing. When I asked questions, I felt like I was being judged for asking them and that I was being rushed by the person at the front desk, even though the waiting room was empty. During the piercing itself, the piercer was quite rough with my ear, and the placement ended up too close toward my face. I was provided with a 8mm flat back and was told that in 3 months I can change to a 6mm. Anywayysss…Throughout the week I experienced a lot of discomfort, and eventually the earring fell out. I went to another nearby shop to have it looked at, and they told me that a 8mm flat back isn’t big enough leave enough room for the expected swelling. Overall, it ended up being a very painful experience. Because of how everything was handled, I honestly don’t feel comfortable returning here for future piercings or tattoos.

Negative experience: Horrendous attitude from the girl at reception. The way she spoke to not only me but other customers was truly appalling and needs to be addressed by this business. No wonder all the negative reviews involve the receptionist, the way she treats people is completely unacceptable. I will never come back here and would not recommend getting a piercing here.

Fantastic experience: Went in for the Tuesday special for piercings. Shoutout to Pounds she was amazing! She took her time, really made me feel welcomed when getting my piercings done today, had a nice chat and all came out amazing!

Positive experience: Not bad of a place, they were direct and helpful but not very friendly, to be fair it was a Tuesday and they were busy. I tried making small talk with the piercer but she wasn’t into it, which I wont blame her for. I got my smiley and she pierced it well, until she put on the actual jewelry and she sliced part of my frenulum. It wouldn’t hurt at all right now if that part wasn’t constantly lifting up currently. But overall, decent. Just a really long wait on Tuesday's. If you’re going to go for the 25$ piercing, go early in the morning, or else you’re going to wait around 2 hours. I got there at 11:30 with two of my friends, and we left around 2:10.

Negative experience: I had a great experience with my tattoo artist, he was fantastic and I would absolutely book with him again. This review has nothing to do with his work. However, my experience with the front desk was disappointing. When I arrived, a customer was on speakerphone with staff, clearly upset about a piercing, and the entire conversation could be heard in the waiting area. After the call, staff continued discussing the customer openly. It didn’t feel welcoming or professional, and customer privacy did not seem to be a priority. At checkout, I was told my deposit would be deducted from the total. I explained that I had e-transferred the deposit earlier but it was never claimed, and my bank notified me that the funds were returned. I brought the full amount to pay in person, but this seemed to be an issue and I was met with attitude. I was told they have auto-deposit, so it may have been a bank error, but I’m not sure why simply paying the full amount in person was a problem. I would definitely return for the artist, but the front desk experience could be handled more professionally.

Negative experience: You get attitude with your piercing — a great 2 for 1 deal! I’d be sour too if my childhood dream was to grow up and work behind a desk in a tattoo shop. Go back in time and dream bigger.

Negative experience: Got a piercing about a month ago Jan 13th around 5pm it was a Tuesday so I knew it was gonna be packed we waited after about a hour and a half I finally got called up the woman piercing me had a really bad attitude but I shrugged it off because we all have those days. However I felt as though she was rushing to pierce me. I got a helix and was told my cousin couldn’t come in the room with me (which was fine) she pierced me with a bar that was too small (I had to get it switched by another piercer) who kept asking where I went because it was done poorly. She fixed me up and my ear is so much better. Say all this to say check your piercers seriously. You guys shouldn’t be doing body modifications if you are just trying to get to the end of your shift. I kept getting irritated and swollen and the ball was pressing on my ear. Do better.

Positive experience: Very gorgeous studio and great deals but terrible receptionist. After having a bit of an off interaction with her, I watched her make several customers uncomfortable…pretty disheartening

Negative experience: I used to come here for small piercings but had the weirdest interaction with front desk that I don’t recommend anymore at all. I came in for a walk in piercing and asked kindly what the wait was and I was told 2 hrs which was way to long of a wait for me. I asked if there were any available appointments as online it’s say appointment after 6 but there wasn’t any, which was fine so I just decided I’d leave and come back another time. Idk if that confused the front desk girl but she began asking me to fill out a form and not accepting that I’d just come back and try another time when it was less busy. She then continued to tell me in the most condescending tone that they are always busy and I should sign a form and wait or something. She proceeded to be keep talking about me as I was leaving and even spoke about me to the other customer in front of her which completely set me off. To this point idk what her deal was or why she wouldn’t just let me leave lol. All around very weird and unnecessary energy. So just watch out for her maybe. Update after reading more reviews, it’s clear this location has a front desk issue. Since they wanna be very nice in the comments she was not “cautioning” she was actually pretty rude and as many reviews have stated in the past unhelpful. Never clear about what was stated below in the comments just pushy and condescending. Pretty upsetting that such a nice studio with other nice staff has to be spoiled by such an unprofessional individual.

Fantastic experience: It as been about one month since I got my conch piercing. The healing process was great. I have had no signs of infection or negative reactions, and everything feels good. Although there was some bleeding during the piercing which I understand can be normal the procedure itself was smooth, and I really appreciated the professionalism from your piercer. The aftercare guidance was clear and helpful.

Negative experience: both times i’ve come here the receptionists have not been very nice. they do not give off good vibes which is sort of concerning, considering they are the first people you see in the building. customer service falls flat there and has disappointed me. aside from them, my tattoo artist danna or dana was very lovely and provided a great flash tattoo! she is very talented and i would recommend checking out her designs.

Negative experience: Got my lobe, helix, and nose pierced here just over one year ago. Since then, my helix piercing has still not healed, and my nose piercing closed after also not healing. The nose piercing was done way too low, and it was crooked, making it extremely difficult and painful to get any ring in or out. I recall the receptionist being very rude and dismissive as well. I am going to get my nose re-pierced and will be going to a different place.

Positive experience: While I left with a wonderful tattoo, I was rather disappointed with the overall experience. This was due to a lack of timeliness, responsiveness, and overall organization. I will not be going back and generally would not recommend it. After having an awful experience at Chronic Ink, I very carefully and thoughtfully sought out this shop and an artist. The shop itself was clean and had a good vibe. The staff seemed a bit disorganized and weren't very friendly. My consultation was delayed by about 30 minutes. I decided to go with the artist, Navi, due to his well-roundedness and impressive portfolio. I wanted a custom piece. After the consultation, I was assured that my design requests would be accommodated. I then booked the appointment for 2 months after my consultation. I started communications with Navi much earlier than the appointment date and requested that he give me an idea of when we could ideally work on the design. Not provided. One week out, I messaged him with more clear inspo and a breakdown of what I wanted. His first version was very different from what I had asked for, but he was able to adjust to my requests. However, his responses were delayed and I ended up going into my appointment without a final draft. I didn't appreciate that and it made me very nervous. Tattoo day comes. Navi arrives 20 minutes late, unapologetically. Once we finally began, he reviewed the final design, sizing, placement, etc. He did the tattoo, its lovely and exactly what I wanted, and all went well overall (thankfully). Due to the above concerns, I will not be returning to this shop for future tattoos and I felt it was important to share my experience openly and honestly. Tattoo artists are often very talented and take pride in their work. That is great, but they should also prioritize providing reassurance to the person who will have this tattoo on their body forever.

Negative experience: This is the worst piercing place i’ve ever been to. The receptionist was horrible and so rude and had an attitude and made me cry. The piercer was even worse, barely talked to me and had an attitude and was so rude. They charged me double and didn’t tell me it was gonna be double before I got it done so I had to pay extra when it was supposed to be 25$ cause it was a Tuesday. They all acted like I was horrible for even being in the place and the wait was over an hour and I had to get a piercing I didn’t even really want because I felt pressured to make a different decision than what I went in with. The receptionist has horrible reviews and mine is no different. You should not work in a customer service space if you can’t service customers. Horrible would not recommend to ANYONE. Will never be back good luck with your business (that’s very sarcastic i’m horribly upset and disappointed with my service.

Positive experience: 4 because the tattoo artist was wonderful, he replicated the design I wanted and perfected it ! He was also super kind and helpful. I honestly would give 1 star for the service from the receptionist who was extremely mean and not patient . She wasn’t even answering our questions and was just so condescending . The piercer was also super cold and not responsive , this was my first piercing and I was afraid .. she wasn’t reassuring and didn’t make me want to come back here for my next piercings.. Negative experience: I normally don’t leave reviews online, but I feel it’s important to share this experience. I was denied service at Colibri Tattoo & Piercing based on how my service dog looks. I showed a valid letter from my psychiatrist, and staff took a photo of my medical letter, but still told me my dog “looked like a pet” and said she was not a real service dog unless she had a vest and certification, which are not required in Ontario. Because I sometimes carry my dog due to panic disorder, this was used against me instead of being understood as part of my medical support. A manager was involved, and they still upheld the denial. My dog was calm, quiet, and well behaved. I was told to return without her or leave her with someone I “trust,” which completely defeats the purpose of having a service dog. I will not be returning and do not recommend this business to anyone who relies on a service animal.

Negative experience: UPDATE - Following my initial feedback, management reached out and took immediate action. They provided a full refund for the overcharged amount and confirmed they are addressing the internal interaction to ensure it doesn't happen again. The issue was handled professionally from their side, demonstrating strong commitment to customer service. - I am editing my previous positive review because my second experience here was deeply disappointing. While the tattoo artist is undeniably talented and the work is high quality, the business practices at this studio are unacceptable. We agreed on a price prior to starting. However, midway through the session—while I was in the chair—the artist began renegotiating. By the end, I was charged double the original quote. I was specifically charged an extra $50 for a tiny "dot and spark" detail without any prior warning that this would incur a cost. Renegotiating the price while a client is being tattooed is coercive and unprofessional. It puts the client in a position of discomfort and embarrassment where they feel they cannot say no. To make matters worse, the reception staff was cold and unwelcoming, adding to the negative atmosphere. It is the studio's responsibility to be clear and accommodating with pricing before the needle touches the skin. Changing the deal halfway through is a dishonest way to run a business. Do not quote a price if you do not intend to honor it. Leveraging a client’s vulnerability mid-tattoo to squeeze out more money is not just poor communication; it is a breach of professional ethics.

Fantastic experience: I got a tattoo done by Melika (@ink.kisser) and she was very patient during the design process - I took longer than expected to choose, and she stayed past closing hours to make sure we finished. She also recommended adding a small heart detail that I ended up really liking. Overall, I appreciate the time and care she put into it!

Negative experience: The piercer was unprofessional and disrespectful. She was uneducated about a piercing placement and disrespected me. She is I un-knowledgeable as well, she didn’t even understand the location of a piercing placement which every piercer should know. I wouldn’t recommend it especially to POC. They also told me one price over the phone and then told me a price higher in person. 0/5

Fantastic experience: Quick, clean, and professional. Came in with a group during the Tuesday $25 deal, we got piercings including the lobes, daith, septum, and a labret. Everyone was incredibly happy with what they got done. Great placement. Would definitely come back for future piercings!

Negative experience: rude receptionist and rude piercer . wait time was 30-40 minutes even though we were the first ones there . the receptionist forgot to give me the cleaner and when i came back she didn’t even apologize or anything . the piercer acted like she didn’t even want to tell me the aftercare process . hopefully the other locations aren’t this bad

Fantastic experience: I got a Double Helix piercing with Marta, and the experience was extremely professional. Once we were in the room, she worked quickly and with great precision. I’m usually pretty afraid of needles, but her professionalism and calm tone of voice made me feel confident and relaxed. Honestly, anything less than a perfect rating wouldn’t reflect how good the experience was!

Fantastic experience: i went in for a walk-in tattoo and they fit me in right away!! melika was the one who did my tattoo—she was super sweet and patient. so kind and very easy to converse with. she helped me decide on sizing and fonts before we started the process. she offered me many breaks and water throughout the process. the final product was beautiful and i am so so happy with my new tattoo. THANK YOU SO MUCH!!❤️

Fantastic experience: My first time there, got two tattoos and simply i could just say Melika was more than amazing. Im no stranger to tattoos, had a few but she’s a one not to forget. She’s professional, a designer, an artist, kind, helpful and at the end you will just end up with a magic on your body. I had artworks but when she was finished, those artworks became something else. More astonishing. Would never go anywhere else. Will definitely recommend her for beginners and experienced ones: @ink.kisser Thank you again.

Negative experience: by far the worst piercing experience i've ever had. i'm only posting this because i really hope no one else has to have this experience. i came in at the end of the night during the Tuesday $25 piercing deal for a daith piercing. the piercer (Marta) didn't assess my ear anatomy beforehand nor explain the process, but just went for it. it felt very rushed and aggressive forcing it to go through and afterwards didn't give me any aftercare instructions to take home. i noticed the placement looked pretty crooked after i got home, and the next day (Wednesday) i got a second opinion from other reputable shops and other piercers that confirmed it wasn't done well and the placement was off. it also randomly started bleeding throughout the day, at one point for over an hour, when i hadn't touched it at all. when i went back to Colibri this morning (Thursday) to talk to them about it, the receptionist told me that she's sorry that it happened and that sometimes during the $25 deal days the piercers can get tired by the end of it after doing 60+ piercings and so it might not come out the best.. i found it shocking she said that, yet not surprising. at the very least, i thought that meant that they would try to make it right. she said that she'd talk to the piercer when she came in and let me know later today if they could refund me. i got it removed from a more reputable shop down the street where they agreed it wasn't done with the right placement. and later came back to Colibri after work to see if they could make it right but they insisted that it was done correctly and went back and forth with me about it for a bit. it felt pretty frustrating considering what she said in the morning, yet later on she changed her tune and said "if you left it in it probably would have been fine". at the end of the day they didn't offer to do anything to make it right. no refund, no discount, no apology, nothing. needless to say i'll never be going back there. i don't care about the money but rather the principal of the matter.. to give a crappy piercing, argue with the customer that isn't happy about it, and not do anything to give good customer service overall. i should have read their other reviews more thoroughly because a handful of other people have had a similar bad experience.. TL;DR. crappy work. cold and unprofessional energy, lacking good customer service. 0/10 would not recommend. think carefully if its worth it before coming here.

Fantastic experience: My first tattoo and Melika got me she helped me through every step from choosing my design to the tattoo it self. ( I barely felt a thing ) she is the best go fallow her at @ink.kisser on instagram, she has the best prices and the best customer service.

Fantastic experience: Went for an ear piercing after work on their Tuesday special day and had a pretty good experience! Employee said wait time would likely be 30 minutes -was closer to an hour but the vibes were good. Once your number is called things go faster and the piercing itself is a clean and efficient process. Btw lobe piercings are $25 every day so if you go on a Tuesday it’s better value to get a different piercing :)

Positive experience: I came in today for the Tuesday piercing sale and got a cartilage piercing. The piercer Martha was great. She was kind and patient and made me feel less nervous. However the receptionist working at the front desk (I didn’t get her name but she had dark hair and a large chest tattoo) was very off-putting and rather unhelpful. The level of customer service could be better on her end but besides that, my experience was generally positive.
