Negative experience: The owner refused to tattoo my black friend and made some unsavory comments, just a warning to anyone wanting to avoid supporting a place like that or any uncomfortable situations. Really disappointing.

Fantastic experience: I was able to plan and book a day with Dominic. I traveled with a group of 12 and 9 of us wanted to get a Nola inspired tattoo. His shop was able to get all 9 tattoos done within 5 hours. Small clean shop with lots of character. We all left with a permanent momento of our trip. Thank you Dominic!

The artist here are all very talented and kind. Side note Doms grumpy boscos tattoo ointment is the best ointment for healing your tattoos! i’ve used it for some of my most stubborn tattoos and it heals and moistures them very very well!! Love this tattoo shop so so much!!

Fantastic experience: We had two great experiences at Catahoula this week! My husband got a tattoo with Mattie and my friend got a tattoo with Don. Fantastic experience: Dominic was fantastic. We got there a little early and interrupted his lunch but he was so gracious and accommodating. Fantastic experience: We went to see Dom and Mattie for me and my bridesmaids to get tattoos, and they took the 5 of us in and gave us the tattoos we wanted without hesitation. Their work is amazing! Also very friendly and warm inviting people! If I could give 10 stars I would!

Fantastic experience: I had the most wonderful tattoo artist Raf on Saturday. She was efficient, light handed and provided great conversation when I could talk as I was getting my ribs tattooed. I’m from out of town but when I do come back to New Orleans I will be returning to the shop! The shop is clean and they open all of the equipment in front of you guaranteeing you are in a healthy and clean environment.

Positive experience: Very nice owner! Would recommend fine line women artist tho for fine line! Other wise, no complaints other than the line not being thin as I wanted! He gave me discount so only $150, although I’m used to the Mexican pricing haha

Negative experience: DO NOT GO HERE. UNPROFESSIONAL AND DISRESPECTFUL. The shop’s printer broke and they were unable to keep my appointment time. I waited almost two hours for them to try to fix it and asked multiple times if they would be able to reschedule my appointment (I was only going to be in New Orleans for another day with no plans to return in the near future). Since they were unable to give me a definitive answer after waiting for so long, I asked for a refund since they were unable to provide the service I paid for or reschedule my appointment. They denied my request for a refund and I’ve asked to speak with the owner of the shop who has not returned my call almost two days later. The point of a deposit is to protect to artists from clients canceling or no showing. By my artist, Olivia’s, own admission, this was entirely the shop’s fault. The refusal to refund when they could neither provide the service nor reschedule shows utter disrespect and disregard for their clients. Their lack of communication is completely unprofessional and unacceptable. I am so disappointed by how I was treated and cannot in good faith recommend this shop.

I was lucky enough to work with Big Sil and let me tell you... from the initial consultation (she reached out ahead of time to draw up a few ideas) to the final wipe down, she was incredibly friendly, thorough, and genuinely kind. She took the time to understand exactly what I envisioned, offered helpful suggestions and ensured I felt comfortable and confident with the design. Big Sil executed my design flawlessly, paying close attention to detail and ensuring the lines were crisp and clean. She was also patient, offered to take breaks when needed and checked in to make sure I was comfortable throughout the process. While the shop boasts an undeniably classic vibe, you quickly realize that beneath the surface lies a meticulous attention to detail when it comes to cleanliness and safety. One of my biggest concerns before getting a tattoo is always hygiene, and Big Sil put my mind at ease immediately. She willingly showed me the expiration dates on all the tools/inks and explained the sterilization process, as well as opened all the needles and tubes fresh from their sterile packaging. This transparency and commitment to using only new, sterile equipment was incredibly reassuring. Overall, my experience at Catahoula Tattoo Shop was fantastic. Big Sil was awesome, Catahoula Tattoo was awesome... 10/10 would highly recommend! Thanks for making our NOLA experience one to remember!

Negative experience: My 2 friends and I got tattoos a few days ago and every single one of the tattoos got infected. None of us are new to tattoos and we’re all in our 30s so we weren’t doing stupid things that could cause an infection. The ink was not well kept, and we were there in the first week of January and the shop has NO HEAT AT ALL. The artist was super nice, which made us overlook some of the red flags, but now that we all 3 have infections it seemed wrong not to leave a review. (Pic is 5 days after the tattoo.)

Fantastic experience: I went in to get a tattoo, and Dom was as hyped about it as I was. I was able to talk with the staff about improving the design and he even suggested better colors for it. The atmosphere was friendly and that tattoo turned out absolutely fantastic. Additionally they had a dedication to cleanliness that I haven't even heard of in a tattoo parlor. Highly highly highly reccomend.

Fantastic experience: I cannot express with words how wonderful my experience was. JoJo was my artist and I was her last client of the day. The original sketch provided did not meet my hopes and dreams but she took every bit of feedback seriously and in detail provided me with the tattoo that fits me as a person. Knowing she had a long day of clients only made her care and extra effort in my tattoo all the more meaningful. She was not frustrated or bothered by the extra time, she cared that I got what I wanted. She even took the time to download a specific font that related to my tattoo since she knew the small details mattered. Her shading is beautiful, her small detail work is perfect. I am from Virginia but if I get another tattoo I will make a trip out of it and return to Catahoula because I don’t often feel that heard and respected. I highly recommend JoJo!!! You will not be disappointed.

Fantastic experience: Have you ever found a tattoo parlor so comfortable and filled with such fantastic people that you want to hang out there every day? That's Catahoula Tattoo. The space is bright and clean, filled with the buzz of tattoo guns and eclectic music, and the aroma of a freshly brewed pot of coffee. The staff are knowledgeable, friendly, and incredibly skilled. They're appointment only, but you can schedule individually or a group party. You can't go wrong getting permanent artwork from any of them, but I highly recommend Olivia for her intricate, fine linework.

Fantastic experience: Rafael is the best! Definitely went above & beyond to not only get us scheduled, but also resized/ moved our designs until we were sure we were happy with the placement. Also so accommodating- even though I am sure it made the tattooing more difficult, Rafael was able to accommodate my physical disabilities so that I was still comfortable while getting tattooed in an oddly-placed location. Super cute flash! Love the ease of booking appointments. Great personality- great customer service. See you when we’re back in NOLA next time!

Fantastic experience: Decided to get my first tattoo today while on vacation. I went with their logo and am so happy with it. Dominic and the whole crew were super awesome people and took great care of me. My girlfriend and I will be back tomorrow to get her piece done and we couldn't be more excited!

Fantastic experience: Visited New Orleans for the first time this week and wanted to get commemorative tattoos. Booked appointments for my husband and I today and we both were booked with Jojo. She took our ideas and brought them to life even better than we could’ve imagined. Was very professional and cleanly and I can’t recommend her enough! We had ideas in mind which we shared ahead of time and Jojo already had some things drawn up and ready to go when we showed up for the appointment. Fantastic experience: Only place I wanna get a tattoo in New Orleans. 1) Dominic knows what he’s doing. He knows how to work with color on melanated skin. A few times artist have tried to throw color on me and it looks busted. Dominic threw on some hot pink and I love it !!! On my other tattoo he put a deep blue. And it’s popping. Also it’s a black light ink hehe. So even extra awesome 2) Dominic really took his time to make sure I got the tattoo that I wanted. He was so patient with me and never made me feel uncomfortable for asking any adjustments on the stencil. 3) the shop is super clean. He’s not playing with that! 4) I feel so comfortable there. When Dominic says to make yourself at home he really means it. It’s a mistake not to come get a tattoo here .

JoJo was one of the only artists that we found. Three of us got different fine line tattoos and she did a beautiful job with each one. Fantastic experience: Great great GREAT experience. First tattoo ever, and am not from NOLA. Catahoula was recommended to me by a friend and they did not disappoint. My tattoo artist was Dom and when I say incredible #chefkiss. We talked about my vision, and he informed me of the pain i could possibly experience due to where I wanted my tattoo, it being my first tattoo. He genuinely wanted me to have the best experience possible, and due to his genuine-ness, my experience was just that. There was pain, but it was definitely more tolerable than my mind was thinking it would be. Dom and I had great conversation through the tattoo and even laughed here and there. This place is awesome. Fantastic experience: Olivia was super super helpful and enthusiastic from the beginning of scheduling, going out of her way to make the tattoo appointment work even though I didn’t have many days in New Orleans! I can’t say enough how great the tattoo is and how well she walked me through every step of the process, even though I’ve gotten many tattoos before. Also the owner Dom was there while I was getting tattooed and he seemed wonderful! A great place!

Positive experience: This review is for Jojo, the tattoo artist who refined the design concept I shared with her and tattooed me. The process to come up with the final design was challenging - all done through email without a live consult at all. I was admittedly particular in my vision as I have an art degree and hire creatives to deliver artwork as part of my job. While difficult, we did arrive at a design I was 95% comfortable with. Her inking skills are very good from fine line detail work to color blending and she made me feel very comfortable throughout the process of performing the tattoo itself. I am ultimately pleased with my tattoo and would recommend working with Jojo to others but suggest a live consult to help build rapport. Side note - I had a rather unusual conversation with the shop owner Dominic after setting up the appointment. Just left me with an off vibe which I also felt in person when I met him.

Positive experience: The place looked great and all the artists seemed great. Then dom started talking and it just went downhill. Insulted a tattoo I had, made me feel extremely uncomfortable and was overall just rude, while puffing himself up because he's been doing this for over 40 years. He made eyes at another artist as she finished my friend's tattoo as well. The only saving grace were the other artists who clearly contributed to the initial great atmosphere.

Fantastic experience: I booked online for a session for my NOLA trip. The process was easy. He did a great job with the drawing from the description I gave. I wanted something added and Dom made a couple suggestions. He was quick and efficient with the changes. Dom is super friendly and if it's your first tat, he will put your mind at ease by going over the process and showing you the new needle he'll be using. It felt like I was hanging out with an old friend. I had a great time, it was one of the hilights of my trip. I'll definitely be back. Afterwards I Ubered over to the nearby Kermit's Mother In Law Lounge and had a blast. Oh yeah. Dom makes great coffee. Also I got the free Catahoula Tattoo logo and had Nola added underneath. Fantastic experience: A friend and I had a great experience at Catahoula while visiting from Philadelphia. Dominic was warm and welcoming. I am very tattooed but he explained everything he was going to do in a kind way. The shop itself was very clean and a pot of coffee welcomed us. The work completed looked fantastic. Fantastic experience: We had an easy, friendly and very time efficient experience at Catahoula Tattoo! My husband had a custom request. He booked his appt online and got a call within the hour from Dominic to discuss what he wanted, and even offered to move the appt up to make it more convenient. The tattoo came out great, and he provided some great advice related to tattoos and scars. Tip- do NOT park in the parking lot next door (auto parts store) as they do tow vehicles.. I would recommend Catahoula highly!

Fantastic experience: I have to say I have never had a tattoo appointment that was as amazing as mine from here. I have close to 20 tattoos, some from shops and some I shouldn’t have ever gotten, and Dom was by far the best artist I could’ve gotten. From talking about what I was wanting, to measurements for the tattoo, to getting stuff drawn out, the stencil being placed, to the tattoo itself. Just an awesome time with great people. And now I have a memorial tattoo for my dad that I’ve wanted for over a year. One that was even better than I could imagine. Thank you so much! I will DEFINITELY be back again. Fantastic experience: If you are coming to New Orleans and you're skipping Catahoula Tattoo, you're doing it all wrong! This is a MUST for me now after just one scheduled visit. Dominic greeted us at the door and was super friendly. Not something we are used to as I've previously have tried getting tattoos in the French quarter and they weren't nearly as nice. As someone who has over 20 tattoos, the experience was different for me as I have NEVER been shown the needle sterilized date and expiration. Dominic explained this should be done ANYTIME you go to a tattoo shop. That made me feel even more comfortable knowing that Catahoula Tattoo cares for the safety of their customers. I got the Catahoula Tattoo logo and I absolutely love it! I feel like it's not only a tattoo for remembering my trip to NOLA, but I also feel like family now.

Fantastic experience: My husband and I got the logo tattoo as a Mardi Gras souvenir. The shop was clean and staff very welcoming. The tattoo was done with care but went fast and turned out great! Excellent service, would definitely recommend!

Fantastic experience: Hey everyone! I’ve just got my very first tattoo which is I was dreaming about for more than 2 years, finally made my research and I think I chose the best place for getting an eternal art to my body, first I reach them through their Instagram page, they reply my every little concern asap and match me with Dominic, he has more than 40 years of experience, very friendly and open to have a conversation about literally anything. Based on my research, this tattoo shop is the only tattoo shop in NOLA which is you can use their website for anything. (Making an appointment, ordering products etc. This is my personal opinion; it feels way more professional instead of trying to make everything done on instagram) You guys can see the very first final results from the pictures, I took the pictures just after made my way home from the shop. Based on my research their aftercare products are better than any kind of “popular” product, plus they have their own coffee. (P.S. I’m not getting paid or having any benefit for posting this review, this is just a clarification of my satisfaction, and excitement of having my first tattoo on my body, thanks a lot.)

Fantastic experience: Incredible work and hospitality. This was my first tattoo, and I was pretty nervous. Olivia was my tattoo artist, and she made me feel right at home. There was never a time where I felt rushed, and was given the space to make all of my final decisions. The smaller shop allows for an intimate experience and you’re surrounded by all the chill vibes. This shop does their sanitary process by the book and everything was super clean. Would 100% use them again !

Fantastic experience: The staff was super friendly and completely accommodating. Vevva did my cover up tattoo and added her own touch to my dragonfly. I couldn't be any happier with how it came out. She was super easy to work with and made sure I was absolutely comfortable. her vibe and style was the perfect match for an artist.

Fantastic experience: I went to get a fine line tattoo with my siblings, and it not only turned out amazing, but Dominic was extremely nice! He comforted my sister who was anxious and was so hospitable. I had a great time and ended up leaving with an even better tattoo.

Positive experience: Went to Silvia for my first tattoo while back in Nola visiting. Sent inspiration photos in advance but it didn’t look like she got them. We went with one of my inspiration photos which was fine but I thought original artwork was part of the process. She was great to work with and explained everything but may not be the best choice for line work. The transfer paper was multiple pieces which was fine but smudged and ended up leaving the final piece off center. I still love it and am grateful for her effort, but am now working with another artist to correct the issues.

Fantastic experience: My second time going here, and it's always such a fun and welcoming experience. I booked a tattoo last summer with Dakota. They were extremely friendly, and they took the time and care to draw and place my tattoo. I booked another tattoo appointment last month with Flocco. I made sure to include all of the details that were needed while emailing her for my booking. Again, the vibe at Catahoula was still the same. Everyone in the shop made sure I was comfortable. Flocco's line work is out of this world! She was super careful and detailed while doing the tattoo. I tell everyone about this place. Especially those who want intricate line work! I tell them about Flocco. I plan on coming here again when I want my next tattoo.

We had a private tattoo party for a birthday, they were so kind and got a cake! (It was delicious).
