Fantastic experience: Didn't have change but the people were cool and I was in and out. Even upgraded the earrings as compensation.

Negative experience: I came in when the owner was there he was very welcoming and we let him know we would come back . Which we did and he was no longer there . The owner told us we could bring our small child in with us and when we came back everyone in the building who was there when he said that including the tattoo white guy with dreads who was gonna be tattooing us and even gave us his business card pretended like they didn’t know us and refused our services.

Fantastic experience: This place is amazing! It was a three block walk (or so) from the hotel myself and my friends were staying at. The shop itself was clean, the staff was friendly, and Devyn did such an amazing job on our ink! Will definitely go back again the next time I'm in New Orleans.

Negative experience: We were visiting New Orleans and on the last day me and my sisters got sister tattoos with each other's name in an infinity sign and once it healed the letters in our names are unreadable. I got my tattoo almost a year ago and our arms are still bruised.

Fantastic experience: The words - First-rate, first-class, top notch & outstanding have several things in common -they are all near synonyms & they all describe FORBIDDEN ART Tattoo Studio perfectly. (Though, even those compliments may, in fact, be understatements.) I’ve been blessed to have worked with some of the most wonderful & sought-after artists all over this country & beyond - & I can safely say - the excellently talented artists at Forbidden Art easily join the ranks of the best-of-the-best. I’ve now had work done from both Devin & Leo - two EXCEPTIONALLY talented artists who, not only did gorgeous work but I didn’t even really need to explain what I wanted - it was like they somehow knew before I could properly voice it myself. They have an extremely pristine, comforting and beautiful studio and as far as I’ve seen - they treat every person who walks through their doors with the same degree of the utmost care and professionalism. They truly seem to listen to & care about what their customers want. Not only are they beyond talented (and, trust me- their work speaks for themselves) - but they have a wonderfully light touch (if you get tattoos - you know how much of a difference that can make and if you are on the fence about your first one solely bc of the “pain” factor - welcome to your new studio.) Between their charming, warm and welcoming personalities; genuine care for their clients’ satisfaction & happiness, their commendable work ethic, extremely reasonable prices & - above all - their unbelievably outstanding & exceptional work itself - I could not possibly recommend this place more. My only complaint is that 5 stars is as high as these ratings go - because truly - they deserve more.

Fantastic experience: I got my first tattoo here a fleur de lis tattoo on my hand, it’s indescribably straight and detailed given it’s an all black tattoo. I am very much in love with it, and I highly recommend this place if you’re looking for genuine art.

Fantastic experience: Trey did my tattoo and he was AMAZING. This was my second tattoo I've ever gotten. My first experience was rough because the person doing it didn't even let me see it until after the tattoo was finished and it was nothing like I wanted at all. Trey made my experience so comfortable. He was patient while my anxiety was high. He let me look at the stencil as many times as I wanted before we started. He offered me breaks during my 45 minutes session. He reminded me to breathe and stay calm. He put a movie on to help give me something else to focus on. He was super real and it was a pleasure to hear about his life and tell him things about mine. It honestly felt like my best friend was giving me a tattoo. I couldn't have received a better experience than this from anywhere else!! I'm now locked in for life and will happily drive 6 hours to come see him for my next one!

Fantastic experience: I went to NOLA for work/fun the beginning of February. As my friends & I are known for getting spontaneous tattoos I can say I’m so incredibly glad we found this shop! We rolled up around midnight to do 5 walk in tattoos & they were so accommodating! Everyone in the shop was so nice & funny, & they were just as hyped about the tattoos as we were! If I ever get the opportunity to go through NOLA again, I will 110% be droppin in! Devin did my tattoos and freaking killed it. The line work is so clean & they’re both so beautiful! I’m so glad I could meet these great artist & spend some fun time in their shop! 10/10 would recommend please stop by if you’re in NOLA it’s definitely worth the trip!

Fantastic experience: Had my nose pierced today and very satisfied. Called ahead of time to find out details and the guy was cool on the phone. Walked down the streets a few minutes later and got my service done. From my phone call till I was out the door it was no longer then 20 minutes. It was clean, painless, and I didn't have any bleeding. I would definitely go back again to get something done.

Positive experience: Came to New Orleans for my sisters wedding, we’re from Texas/Oklahoma and wanted to stop somewhere to get some tattoos before we left. This was my sisters first tattoo and my 8th! Devin did ours and he did absolutely AMAZING. Made us both feel very comfortable and it was even better that he was easy on the eyes! If you ever stop here, make sure to ask for him!!!

Negative experience: I got my tragus and a flat cartilage piercing done at this studio yesterday while visiting over Memorial Day Weekend. All the staff were very chill and friendly, and they politely accommodated our group of 3 people who wanted a mix of tattoos and piercings plus a few tag-alongs. After my first piercing, the tragus, I was hit with an unexpected dizzy/sick spell and the staff were so understanding over the whole situation. They gave me water and gave me time to relax and recuperate. My second piercing felt a little bit rushed, but I believe I was taken between other clients and they were close to official closing time anyway so I can understand that part. My piercer did double check that I wanted a gemstone placed in the piercing, but I wish I could have had the opportunity to verify the type of jewelry I was being offered. I was given a rather large CZ stone with a standard earlobe post and a bullet backing, when for a cartilage piercing like this I would have preferred a 18-16g labret bar with a smaller, lighter stud for healing. Granted I could have asked, but I don’t think a piercer has ever put an earring stud into any of my cartilage piercings so I wasn’t entirely thinking of it. He also didn’t mark the piercing or double check the placement, he kind of just went immediately in with the needle. I assume this was to help keep me from having the same reaction as I had to my first piercing so I appreciate the effort in that regard, but it ended up being maybe 1/4” off from where I meant to indicate and I wish he would have taken a bit of extra time with the marker. Today this piercing was what I would personally describe as unusually tight and uncomfortable, so given the placement as well I went ahead and removed it. Update from 4/5/23: I ended up seeking out a second opinion from a different piercer in regard to my tragus piercing. He told me the piercing was done too shallow/crooked and, compared to photos of when it was intially done, it was already showing signs of migration. He removed the piercing for me to avoid what he considered to be a high chance of complete rejection. I’m knocking a couple stars off my initial rating because both piercings ultimately had to be removed less than 6 weeks after getting them. I’ve never had this kind of problem with my other 16 piercings. I’ve included a second photo of the redone flat piercing (much better this time) and the tragus piercing location after the jewelry was removed.

Negative experience: got a tattoo once for my friends birthday, everything was okay they were very friendly, tattoo came out perfect. decided to go back about two months later for another one, it was the same dude. this tattoo definitely felt different , like he was digging into my skin harder than needed, and it healed terribly. upon healing i realized how bad it actually looks. def not coming back after the second. also thought it was weird that i had to pay after for the first & beforehand for the second

Fantastic experience: I was a walk-in. Was greeted promptly by Will. Explained to him what I wanted and he drew up exactly what I wanted. This was an emotional tattoo for me and during my tattoo, while we chatted, he made me feel welcomed and completely comfortable. Will is definitely an asset to this establishment. Will took a vague go-by we brought in and was able to create a design that totally exceeded our expectations and turned out so cute. Everyone on staff was super friendly and made us feel at home. Fantastic experience: My fiancé and I were on vacation in NOLA and decided to get a couples tattoo. We called Forbidden Art hoping they would be able to get us in that night. We were in the shop within 30 mins and they took care of us right away. Will was awesome throughout the whole process. I was extremely nervous since it was my first time getting a tattoo, and he was very patient and made sure I felt comfortable throughout the whole process! Also, our tattoos are cuter than I could’ve ever imagined!

Fantastic experience: After a long motorcycle ride, Joe and company were excellent hosts and served up 3 flawless piercings and 1 great forearm tattoo for me and the boys. I don't think I've had better hospitality and service at any other shop. Will definitely be returning next time I'm in New Orleans.

Negative experience: Very toxic atmosphere. The manager interferes with the artist's work. And refuses to let them communicate with their clients. He started a whole argument in front of customers. My tattoo artist didn't show up for my appointment. After 5 hours and the argument I got a refund and left without a tattoo. Very unprofessional establishment. I do not recommend at all.

Positive experience: I'm giving 5 stars for my tattoo and my artist, but 3 stars for the shop itself. Ace made me a little voodoo doll tattoo. Took her about 30 minutes to draw it up and another hour for the actual tattoo. It is so cute. She is plays great music while you're sitting and she's great at talking to distract. The shop is walk in, which is great if you want a last minute tattoo. The set up inside the shop could be cleaner

Negative experience: we went to get tattoos & when we told the people what we wanted we were discouraged. the person used a slur when trying to discourage us. he told us they were just about to close & get something to eat. it’s nowhere near closing time.

Fantastic experience: Brought my daughter here for her 21st birthday to get our mother/daughter matching tattoos (it was my daughter first one so had to be special). Ace (I believe is her name) was f***in awesome. Came to get specific tattoos then last min changed our mind (before going into the shop) bc wanted to do something simple so my daughter wouldn't be so nervous. Talked with Ace & ended up going with our original one & we're very happy with them. Thanks girl.

Negative experience: I went in to get my ears pierced and it was overall a bad experience. I sat in the chair and they stuck the needle in without cleaning the piercing area or anything. They didn't offer me to select my jewelry so I was stuck with a pair of fake diamond studs, and they didn't offer me much aftercare information even when I asked as I was walking out. I also noticed a few weeks after once the swelling went down that the piercings are asymmetrical.

Negative experience: Went to get a finger tattoo, was looking for the guy “bones” but they stated he no longer works their anymore. Sooo I allowed “power ranger” to proceed with the tattoo it was fine getting the the tattoo but as a group of customers walked in she rushed to get up to assist them after finishing. I asked her can she wrap my tattoo or put some ointment “lube” on it , she stated that it was no need to and said it’ll be fine. Today I’m waiting 5 days for the healing process and my tattoo is cracking!! Looks soo thick and nasty. Very disappointed.

Negative experience: I got my tragus pierced here. The piercer gave me no information about the healing process. They also used this cheap jewelry that rusted up and did not have secure backing.

Negative experience: Was looking to get a tattoo was passing by here and was convinced by one of the artist to allow power ranger to sketch me a tattoo. I went in and talked to power ranger but felt she had an attitude and she wasn’t really trying to include me on my tattoo design. Another artist I believe dusty came n to try to assist her and they began to argue in front of us as they were sketching the tattoo. I left them with my name and number and what I wanted and asked if a sketch of the tattoo could be sent to me when done I’ve been waiting two days now and have yet to receive a thing. This was a complete waste of an hour of my vacation

Positive experience: I was in NO from out of town for my birthday weekend. I got a commemorative tattoo 4/23 Fri evening for my b-day. I have over 20 total. Most of them are in color and many use green. I have never had one lose color like this one did, ever. This did not last 3 days before it started to deteriorate. I did not realize most of it was not outlined as I did not get a peek when done (no, I did not ask for one, either) and did not notice that till later that night changing out the saran-wrap stuck over it. Pic one is the night of. Pic two is 6 days later. Pic 3 is 8 days later. Yes, it gets worse by the day and I will have to pay to have it repaired as it's too big to want to cover. I went here due to the reviews and walk-in availability. You got me..... and my money. Too bad can't post 0 stars. *UPDATE* from one star. The owner reached out to me last week and it seems the artist that did the work should not have and offered what felt like a sincere explanation and apology. Regardless, it will have to be covered or redone but the owner did make partial amends and while the outcome could have been much better, I'll take what was offered since it's not feasible to return to NO to have it reworked for no additional cost. Thanks for reaching out.

Fantastic experience: I appreciated Raven working with me on my custom tattoo design. Very clean work, loads of experience, and a steady hand. Dusty did the fastest most painless ear piercing for me I've ever had-I spent less than a minute on the chair. These guys were super chill and you should definitely support their business.

Negative experience: This place is so ghetto and unprofessional. I brought my sister to get her nose pierced. She was seated but had to wait for the tattoo artist to finish someone’s tattoo. While we waited they bickered back and forth. After waiting 15 minutes or so, the tattoo artist and a young man walked to the side of the establishment and began FIGHTING. A grown man fighting a little boy. So embarrassing and was such a waste of time.

Fantastic experience: I was told my a local friend to come to this place. Plus "Forbidden" is in the name what rebel wouldn't be attracted to that! Lol. I got there right when they opened and like an Erykah Badu concert was waited an hour. The artist was great. He talked the entire time with interesting "real shizz". This is the kind if experience you want. I felt comfortable, the place was clean. Very happy with the work. Highly recommend this place.

Negative experience: the piercing process itself was fine, but the customer service around it by the piercer was very questionable. When I asked for an indication of where exactly the piercing was gonna be, I was told there is only one place anyways and instead of worrying about this I should really smoke some weed to relax (okay...), and when I asked about treatment of the piercing I was told it was obviously not the piercer's business to tell me about it + that this question made me the "whitest experience the piercer has had all day". It seemed very unprofessional to me, as I would expect to receive this kind of information from a professional place. Would not go there again because of this rude behavior towards customers.

Fantastic experience: Me and my wife came here back in June 2019 to get tattoos after a concert at the Howling Wolf. We walked here from our hotel around midnight. It was my first tattoo so I was a little unsure about what to expect. I don't remember the guys name, but he was cool as hell. We gave him some ideas, and with the help of a lady that worked there he came up with a great design on his iPad. He was so chill and laid back and talked a lot which made me more comfortable getting my first tat. We ended up being here a couple hours which was fine with us just all of us chatting about different things. We didn't feel rushed at all. Cleanliness was very important to him and that showed during his prep work. It was a great experience that I still talk to my friends about when thinking about new tattoos. And it still looks great to this day. He ended up giving my wife a nose piercing as well before we left. All in all a great experience.

Negative experience: I got a helix piercing and it literally took less than 30 seconds. The longest part was the conversation with the piercer. I would definitely think before getting this type of piercing because of the whole mask thing. It hurts like hell when the loop gets caught on the back of the stud and it you wear glasses that's a double whammy Update: After having the piercing for 3 weeks that kept hurting Iike crazy, I went to a piercer back home. It turns out the back of the earring was on too tight causing a huge hole to be in my ear. My ear was extremely sensitive, and I couldn't even have it accidentally bumped-- let alone have my hair touch it without sending a shock through it. The new piercer took the earring out, and I almost screamed. He replaced it with a loop instead of a stud, and I felt instant relief. It bled some from pulling out the original earring, but the healing process started that same day. It's been 4 days now, and my ear has gotten much better. The hole has gone down significantly. If you go here I would definitely make sure that you have room to actually turn the earring before you leave and that there is actual space for the earring to move forward. The back of the earring is not supposed to be poking out far at all.

Negative experience: Got a tattoo here 2 years ago and had a great experience. Planned on getting another on this visit and this was the first place I thought of. Walked in and showed the artist what I wanted and he was incredibly high. Acted like he did not want me there. He also priced much higher than a few other places I checked with after I left. Don't know how a place can have such a significant change in service. I won't be back here. I get a tattoo everywhere I visit and my wife and I come to New Orleans at least 3 times a year with a tattoo almost every time.

Negative experience: Was visiting New Orleans from Chicago and on my last day there on 3/20/21 i wanted a tattoo.. Went into the shop and Pan was very nice and provided good customer service.. The Guy with the 2 braids on the other hand was rude, and was irritated with everyone and everything maybe it was too early and he's not a morning person. He talked about his coworkers when they stepped away and rushed the entire process. I got 2 small tattoos in which i was charged $100 for. A small ankh behind my ear and the infinity symbol on my middle finger.. Both tatts was done within 5mins top .. And the outcome of my infinity tatt is 2 days later the ink is completely gone. Now i have to find a reliable artist who actually enjoys their job to correct his work.

Fantastic experience: Dusty is the best. We came the way from Chicago and he took.good care of us. He os down to earth and professional. Very humble. Will be back when I am in New Orleans.. Thank you Dusty!!!

Went in and described that I was wanting something to memorialize my son, and Raven did my own and my friends tattoos quickly and was they are great! Prices were amazing as well. Negative experience: NOT CLEAN, NOT PROFESSIONAL PIERCER!!! I would give them 0 stars if I could!! Seriously terrible service. I got a daith piercing done by Dusty and he did such a terrible job that I had to remove the piercing within 2 hours of getting it pierced because it was improperly pierced!! Seriously he doesn’t know what he is doing and he didn’t clean it before or after!! And no care instructions or anything after leaving! Mid City Voodoux on Carrollton is 1000 times better, definitely go there!
