The Wolf Den Custom Tattoo Studio

Fantastic experience: Everything about The Wolf Den is warm and welcoming: the space, the artists, and the fellow customers. Ryane was patient and kind throughout my appointment. You can tell they cultivate a healthy environment in their studio that others respond to in kind. I was looking for a warm studio to return to in the future and definitely found it here. Loved my experience!

Negative experience: Emailed them for the first time on 3/19/25, got a response asking a clarifying question from them a little later and after responding on 4/5/25 I haven’t heard a single thing back. It’s now 7/17/25 and I’ve given up on this shop. I was really excited to get some work done here but this is not how you treat could be clients. Edit: shortly after posting my review the company finally reached out and said they did respond, which they definitely did not. I don’t think it should take someone leaving a bad review for a business to get back to them.

Fantastic experience: Ryane Rose is an absolute legend. I had not gotten a tattoo in 11 years. I wanted one for my sister who had passed away. I had spent 7 years thinking about what I wanted for this tattoo. It was a concept of a concept. Hey this illustrator? He did something like this one time can you smooth jazz it? I was nervous. Being honest? I was nervous they wouldn't get it, or I wouldn't like the design, or worst, I would let them tattoo something I dont like due to my people pleasing. Ryane got the concept 100% from the jump. They gave me space to think and alter it to what made the most sense to me, with additions I would have never thought about. Super kind and thoughtful, the parlor was what can only be described as a place by gay people for gay people. I have never felt immediately safe in a space in my life. Ryane was such a treasure. I will be back. God help my wallet.

Fantastic experience: Loved getting my first tattoo at the Den! Jess was very clear and communicative about the whole process from inquiry to scheduling and made me feel right at home when I arrived in the beautiful, plant filled lobby. The studio was spotless with good music, comfy chairs, and plenty of Topo Chico. Ryane translated my vision into a masterpiece and took extra time to make sure everything was exactly how I wanted it before getting started. They are truly passionate about their work, not just the art but also fostering community and human connection. And that passion is reflected in the final product which I adore! I had the honor of seeing the pieces Bree and Alexus were working on which were amazing, too. Whether you're getting your first or fiftieth tattoo, I highly recommend the Wolves. You won't regret joining the pack!

Fantastic experience: I don't think I'll ever go anywhere that isn't The Wolf Den for my tattoos! I've now been a few times and worked with both Meg and Kelsey for custom pieces, and I cannot overstate how wonderful the experiences have been. They are so incredibly talented, the environment is unmatched, and the vibes in the studio alone make it my favorite place for tattoos. Their books fill up, but they are 10000% worth the wait!!

Fantastic experience: Emma did a wonderful job on a tattoo I have wanted for quite some time! She was kind, open to making a few changes to get the design just right, very friendly, and delightful to spend an afternoon with her getting my first tattoo. Couldn't have gotten a better artist if I tried and it turned out so, so beautiful! I have gotten nothing but compliments in the past 24 hours and the more I look at it, the more I love it. Emma was great handling all my questions, guiding me every step of the way, and making sure I loved the design and placement. I can't wait to book my next one!

Fantastic experience: Was able to get a last minute appointment on a trip with tight turnaround. The studio was clean and entire staff was welcoming. I had my first tattoo with Emma who was ready to answer any and all questions. The energy of the studio was just overall enjoyable! Would fly back to get a tattoo here again!

Fantastic experience: I cannot say enough good things about Alexus and The Wolf Den! I got my first tattoo with Alexus yesterday and am so so happy with it. From start to finish, it was the best experience. She was so kind, professional, and warm. I was pretty nervous and she made me feel so welcomed and comfortable. The studio space is also lovely, and the other artists all seemed amazing. Alexus is such a talent and I can’t wait to book my next tattoo with her and visit the Den again!

Fantastic experience: I really did the research for my first tattoo at age 54. It needed to be personal, work-related, and a concept that I had difficulty explaining. I'm in violence prevention and wanted something based on the social ecological model, which is not an eye-catching visual, so interpretation was important. Ryane had some watercolor ideas before I showed up, and I loved them. We tweaked it a little bit and I ended up with a totally original piece that tells the story I wanted to tell. She asked what colors I liked and I said all of them. I swear she used all of them, too. The environment was really relaxed and Ryane is just a really cool person to chat with. It took less time than I expected and cost less money than I anticipated. I couldn't be happier with my first ink. It is really eye-catching and absolutely unique. Can't wait to show it off.

Fantastic experience: Such an amazing studio in every way! My wife and I went here to get a memorial tattoo and we couldn’t have had a better experience! Everyone was super friendly and welcoming and rhetorical studio itself is beautiful and very clean. Megan was our artist and she did an amazing job on our tattoos I’m super impressed. Love!

Fantastic experience: I loved being at the den. The vibes are perfect. Right when you walk in you see all the green colors, plants and decor and it’s a calming environment. For the tattoo itself, I knew I wanted to work with Kelsey (because she’s awesome) so reached out with my idea. I did a foliage piece and some script but didn’t have a ton of guidelines. When I arrived yesterday Kelsey and I went back and forth on size, shading, etc. to finalize. She even convinced me to move my script piece to a new location, which I’m super happy with. It’s worth the wait if you have to wait to get on the books, and Jess is super easy to coordinate with! Kelsey is the coolest and insanely talented and makes the whole experience fun and relaxed. The shop itself is welcoming and the vibes are top notch. Between other artists giving their opinions and complimenting the tattoo placement to just sitting with me and Kelsey to hang and chat. Will definitely come back for whatever my next idea ends up being.

Fantastic experience: My day at The Wolf Den surpassed expectations. Kelsey was winsome and thoughtful and funny and kind. I gave her a bit of direction for what I wanted my tattoo to include and she designed the most stunning art for me. The banter and rapport between the artists made me feel like I was hanging out in my friends’ living room. I can’t wait to go back to continue work on my sleeve.

Fantastic experience: Echoing the many, many positive reviews for The Wolf Den - their entire crew and other patrons made my experience an amazing one. The shop energy is great with all the greenery, books, candles. Chill, fun, easy vibes to calm any nerves :) Kelsey was an absolute rockstar artist from start to finish. Made me feel super comfortable from the get-go and kept me comfortable throughout my 3.5 hour session. Fun conversations and the shop playlist was Extremely happy with the snake Kelsey made for me! Was very excited that she was able to incorporate the snake with a smaller piece I already had - the “1989” is an older tattoo from a different artist. The other Wolf Den artists were super friendly as were the other customers in the shop during my session - everyone was wonderful So happy to be part of the pack and can’t wait for come back for more. Fantastic experience: I love this place. It is so welcoming and not intimidating at all. You immediately feel at ease and it makes the whole process so much better. Fantastic experience: The Wolf Den is hands down one of the best environments and group of people I have ever had the pleasure of working with. While I mean this for tattoos, I also mean this in general. Every one of the artists are kind, open, and respectful people that want to make sure their clients are given a warm welcome, a meaningful time, and a great piece of work. I worked with Ryane Rose for my tattoo. It was a design that was a many year process of thinking and dreaming about. Seeing Ryane’s style and work was the motivation I needed to reach out and request to get that tattoo done. Ryane was a pleasure to work with. They were incredibly welcoming and thrilled to work on my design, presenting me with ideas they had and thoughts behind what could work. I had a very mild suggestion for the drafted design, we agreed, and we got to work. The tattoo came out incredible, and I left with not only a great appreciation for this team, but the added benefit of having a bunch of great ideas on my next piece! The whole process and tattoo was as painless as can be (pun intended, because ya know, tattoos). I would absolutely recommend anyone to schedule with the Wolf Den. You’ll be treated with respect and have a great time with some great people, who, above all, provide an exemplary and world class creative experience.

Fantastic experience: Alexus has the most beautiful script designs and she did an amazing job with mine. She was so caring and thoughtful throughout the process. This was the first time I ever felt like a tattoo artist genuinely cared ✨

Negative experience: I have a friend who got a $200, 1 square cm tattoo here that quickly faded. The artist refused to respond to follow up on their promise to promptly touch up the tattoo, which the artist knew and told my friend would fade. After repeatedly reaching out to the artist and the tattoo shop for the touch-up with no response for MONTHS and condescending messages from the staff, my friend finally got the tattoo touched up. The tattoo faded again, and after leaving a negative review my friend received a retaliatory message from a Wolf Den studio urging her to delete the message. The studio continually tried to gaslight my friend, becoming condescending after repeatedly ghosting her and being unresponsive. This tattoo shop reaches out to clients who leave bad reviews and retaliates. Would not recommend going here

Fantastic experience: This place is absolutely incredible! Every artist in there is so so nice, friendly, supportive, and talented. You can chat with anyone in there and the artists support each other's work which is amazing. It’s a beautiful studio with an amazing vibe. The artist themselves are incredibly talented and creative. All of their work looks amazing and I hope to get more work by more artists in there! My artist was a guest and everyone was very supportive of her and I can’t wait for her to come back. I can’t say enough good things about this place and I can’t wait to go back and get more work done by more ladies there

Fantastic experience: WolfDen is such a special place! I had a custom tattoo by Meg recently and was very impressed with her design, professionalism, and energy. It was well worth the wait! The vibe of the studio is loving-all the artists seem very supportive of each other, nothing but positive vibes. I closely follow all of the artists on social and they are so damn talented! I also got a flash done by Alexus in the fall and she did a great job. I will definitely be back in the future & highly recommend them to anyone, near or far!

Fantastic experience: December 2024: I was lucky enough to get tattooed by Meg for 3 more tattoos in the Wolf Den studio. This was my first time at the studio and it was amazing. Jess was so incredibly welcoming and friendly when I first arrived and offered me (and my sister) a Topo Chico :) the vibe of the studio is so chill, friendly, welcoming, and so so fun. The studio itself is beautiful and comforting with books and plants all over! Meg is such an incredible person and getting tattooed by her felt like hanging with a new friend, not to mention she’s so incredible at what she does. Just an all around amazing tattooing experience and I can’t wait to come back!! Fantastic experience: The Wolf Den is the absolute best place to get beautiful works of art on your body. I’ve gone to other shops in Denver that have been good experiences. But my experience at the Wolf Den has solidified it as MY go-to for tattoos. They are so welcoming and a 100% judgment free zone. You feel comfortable and safe getting tattooed here. Fantastic experience: I’ve gotten tattooed by two of the artists at Wolf Den so far, but wanted to give a specific shout out to Meg ❤️. I’ve somehow got lucky enough to snag the collab between her and Jess for purses and flash tattoos twice now. Each time I sit down with Meg it’s like chatting with an old friend who is genuinely interested in listening and talking about life. She is so genuine, a talented artist, and a super cool human. As someone who is aspiring to tattoo more and more, she gave me great advice and was such an encouraging voice. Fantastic experience: My mom and I had an incredible experience at Wolf Den. The space is super cute and clean. We cannot say enough good things about Alexus and her art. Alexus was kind, welcoming and not to mention extremely talented! This was our first time getting a tattoo but Alexus walked us through the entire experience . We are both really happy with how everything came out and now have a great memory together.

Fantastic experience: I had admired Meg and WolfDen artists for years before visiting, and the space and artists surpassed expectations. Meg created a beautiful piece for me based on a flash release and it is feminine, unique and high quality. She is warm, listens to her customers and feels like a lifelong friend within minutes of meeting her. Likewise, I was lucky enough to receive one of Jessi’s custom bags and it quickly has become my favorite accessory. Having been to multiple tattoo studios, the WolfDen is unlike any other. They are warm and their love for one another spills over the their customers - it is the best atmosphere I have encountered. As a bonus, if you ever need style inspiration, the wolves are your go to. Each one of them has a wardrobe I envy ;)

Fantastic experience: This tattoo studio is the best one that I have ever been to, and they are the fourth tattoo studio I have visited. The space is clean, warm, and inviting, and I felt so safe while I was there. The tattoo studio has a waiting area with comfortable chairs and couches for you to wait in, and the tattooing space itself is roomy but so inviting, as are all of the artists. I got my tattoos as part of a flash collection with Meg. Meg is, by far, the best tattoo artist I have had. She was very organized and thorough in her communication about the tattoo process and aftercare. She was a great conversationalist and I enjoyed being in her chair, hearing her stories, and I greatly appreciate her answering any questions I had for her, tattoo related or not! I will definitely be visiting Meg again and hopefully the other artists as well! Highly recommend this queer owned, all women tattoo studio.

Fantastic experience: Mel is incredible!! I have worked with several tattoo artists and I have never had one more skilled in fine line work than her. She is so gifted. I came to her myself a few months ago and was struck by how clean and safe the shop felt. Mel made me feel safe and she consistently checked in with me to make sure I was okay. So, when my niece asked me to take her for her first tattoo I knew I needed to take her to Mel and the Wolf Den! Mel was so kind and patient. It will be the experience my niece judges every tattoo by for the rest of her life and I wanted to set the bar high!! Thank you Mel!!

So friendly, listened to exactly what i wanted, made changes without any hesitation, and was so understanding with my indecisiveness with my placement. (Tried 4 different places lol). Fantastic experience: Started my sleeve here last week. I was made to feel incredibly welcome. The atmosphere is full of positive energy. Every artist there interacted with me and checked up to see how I was progressing. When any customer was finished getting tattooed, every one took the time to see the new art and praise how good it looked. I am exceptionally pleased with my tattoo but that was not the only thing I walked away with. I have a cool place I can go for future tattoos where I know the owners and artists care about what they are doing and making a safe space for every one of their customers.

Fantastic experience: I recently went to the Holiday Bazaar pop up that Wolf Den did and was thrilled! I was paired with Mele to do my flash tattoo, and she was amazing. Very professional throughout the whole process with excellent results, not to mention an absolute gem of a human. Fantastic experience: 10/10. All the stars. Not only is the studio an absolute vibe, all the artists and staff are phenomenal human beings. Macy was so thorough when tattooing, making sure I liked how everything was coming out and if I want to add or change anything along the way. I would HIGHLY recommend this studio (and Macy). If you’re not sure, just do it! You won’t regret it. I’ve since gone back 3 times for tattoos at their pop up events! Meg and Mele did my tattoos and WOW! They are so amazing, kind and talented.

Fantastic experience: I finally got tattooed by Mele! We had been mulling over some ideas for a couple of months. I wanted to fill in my inner arm and sent her my mood board of what I was feeling. I trusted her style and artistry when it came to creating my floral piece. She chose a fireweed for my arm, and the way she made it flow perfectly with my other tattoos is truly just wonderful. Throughout our appointment we had so much fun joking with other artists and clients while also having our own relatable conversations. I appreciate that she constantly checked in to make sure I was doing ok with my pain levels. We were always able to adjust my position to accommodate my shoulder injury, which was SO helpful. Would 10/10 go back to Mele!

Fantastic experience: Alexus is an incredible artist and the sweetest person! I saw her with my two sisters and we all got matching tattoos. Her work was so clean, detailed, and consistent! It was my youngest sister‘s first time getting tattooed, and she had a great experience. She said she can’t wait to get more from Alexus! Fantastic experience: I have been to the wolf Den three times and had the honor of working with two different artists - Mele and Ryane - they are both AMAZING. From bringing the concept to life all the way through the entire process. It’s a nice inviting environment, and you just feel like you’re hanging out with your friends during sessions. Jess, who schedules everyone is awesome too. You honestly can’t go wrong with any artist at the den, they are all amazing.

Fantastic experience: Was tattooed by Ry while they were a guest artist at Cozy Camp in St. Paul MN, and it was the best tattoo experience I’ve ever had. Ry was so inviting, thoughtful, and kind throughout the entire tattoo process. Mele also was very nice to talk to, made fun & funny conversation and was open and responsive to what I had to say. The Wolf Den is a them and femme establishment, is a beautiful safe space, and you will be treated not only as a guest, but like family. My most recent tattoo was done by the unparalleled Meg Donohue who exceeded my already super high expectations. I am so honored to literally have her original artwork on me. Meg is not only an awesome artist who is classically trained, she is also super socially gifted and perceptive so she will make sure you're comfortable and feeling cozy and safe. Fantastic experience: I got my first tattoo at the Wolf Den a few weeks ago and had an amazing experience. Everyone there was so friendly and the shop itself is so clean and welcoming. I worked with Alexus who was great. She was so patient with me during the whole process and answered all of my questions. She explained each step too so I knew what was going on the whole time. Not only was she great to work with the tattoo turned out amazing. I have gotten so many compliments on how great of line work she did and how good it looks. Fantastic experience: I cannot recommend Wolf Den enough! I went to one of their gallery openings for flash and later came back for a tattoo with Alexus. I liked one of the pre-drawn designs on her social media but wanted to make some tweaks and she made the vision I had come to life PERFECTLY. She is so talented and I get compliments on this tattoo constantly, especially how clean the lines are. Alexus was so kind and I could tell how much she loves her work, which makes getting the tattoo that much more special. All of the artists in the shop always make me feel welcome and like I’m part of the “pack”. If I could afford it, I would be at the Den every day.

We worked with Jess to coordinate our appointment and design aspects and Ryane was our artist. Through each step of the process they balanced direction and empathy that made us feel confident, relaxed, and excited about our first tattoo (something akin to singing an Alanis song for karaoke ;)). Fantastic experience: For my birthday I wanted to treat myself and finally make the move to get my very first tattoo! Alexus was the perfect person for that first time experience. She has such calming energy, she’s professional and kind- what more could you ask for when you’re a little nervous right? Fantastic experience: As the great Michael Jones of Foreigner wrote, "I wanna know what love is, I want you to show me, I wanna feel what love is, I know you can show me"...Wolf Den does this with some ink and a buzzing needle. I met Ryane through Instagram when they were raffling tickets for a half-sleeve to help a friend that had lost out on an art commission and needed help. That's the type of people they are. Their partner and shop manager Jess is like if Gone With the Wind had a baby with Oprah, caring and elegant, intelligent and charming, everything they touch is filled with polish and vivaciousness. Meg, the wild one, did my last tattoo there, and is an artist and a beautiful soul. The technical yearning they have for tattooing is only outshined by the love they have for connection with clients and community. The Wolf Den has brought together a collective of bright souls, both artists and clients, that light the way to a more tolerant, loving, supportive, creative future, and to just bask in that for a day, or a half-day every 5 or 6 months is worth everything.

Fantastic experience: This is the studio to get tattooed at in Denver! The shop is beautifully designed and is a great vibe. All the artists are great and welcoming. I got tattooed by Meghan and love my tattoo and will be going back to get tattooed by her and the other artists!

Fantastic experience: First off, the Denver tattoo scene has gotten very busy. If you’re looking for a quality tattoo, you will not be getting a same day tattoo. It usually takes a few months to get an appointment, but the Den is WORTH the wait! I am editing my review to include I have now been here for three tattoos and will go nowhere else in the future. Everything from communicating design ideas, to scheduling, to the tattoo day has always been outstanding. When you enter and are greeted by Jess, you immediately feel as if you belong. My work from Meg and her fine line realism is out of this world. My work from Ryane and their water color skills is top notch. Both are so fun to be in their presence. In fact every artist from Macy, Melee, to Alexis have always been so pleasant to me while in the space. I’d be thrilled to have any artist at the Den tattoo me. Fantastic experience: Meg is intuitively connected to her clients needs, visions and desires. She provided me different options to choose from when I showed up to my appointment which allowed me to choose the tattoo that spoke to me the most. She actually showed me a version of an idea I had that steered me towards her direction and I’m so glad I did. Meg knows what looks good and is absolutely detailed in every way possible!

Fantastic experience: I received a custom tattoo from Meg in May of 2024. And, it was one of the best experiences that I’ve had out of the six previous tattoos by other artists. Meg is a delight and it was easy to spend several hours with her during my session. First, it was one of the least painful tattoos I’ve gotten. Second, it healed the fastest of any of my previous tattoos of similar size. Last, but not least, the tattoo itself is absolutely gorgeous. I’ve gotten many compliments on how delicate and beautifully drawn it is. I’m obsessed!! I’m ready for Meg’s books to re-open so I can try to get my next one from her.

Fantastic experience: Walking into the Wolf Den always feels like coming home. From the plants and books lining the walls to Jess greeting everyone who steps through the door, it is a safe space for all. Meg has been my artist for two years. And somewhere between the chatting and the laughter, I’ve not only gained 8 tattoos but an amazing friend. Meg is uber talented, insanely creative, smart as a whip, and kind to the core. I often wish I had met her sooner, because her work puts all my other tattoos to shame. And although she wasn’t the first to tattoo me, she will be the last because I refuse to go to anyone else.

Fantastic experience: It's been a long while since I had gotten a tattoo, so I was super excited to get on Meg's schedule. For my tattoo, I really wanted to bring this moodiness and sassy vibe to it and wasn't exactly sure how that could be captured, but Meg totally brought it to life. From my first email reaching out to inquire about getting some fine line work done, Jess responded right away and connected me with Alexus to complete the tattoo of my dreams. The studio is beautiful and inviting, filled with vibrant plants and velvet couches. Alexus was so kind and friendly, and explained how excited she was to do my disco ball planter. She was so patient and incredibly knowledgeable about placement and care, she made sure I was comfortable at all times and her artwork is just phenomenal. We had a day full of laughter and banter with the other artists and customers. I would recommend Alexus and the studio as a whole for your next tattoo. Fantastic experience: Macy was the best! This was my first tattoo and Macy did a great job of walking me through what to expect and proper aftercare. Everything was super sanitary and the environment is a 10/10. Macy took my idea and delivered something better than I could have imagined. This appointment was last minute, and they were very cool about squeezing me in to an already busy day for them. I can not recommend this shop and Macy enough, if you're on the fence, DO IT.

It's an all female staff, which really makes a difference in feeling comfortable and safe. I got a tattoo by Alexus, who created a beautiful piece that matched the description I sent, and made sure I was happy with the placement and design before starting. Was patient with my suggestions and never made me feel rushed. I was also offered free drinks and snacks throughout the process. Fantastic experience: Love the wolf den!! This was my second time here, I got a tattoo from Mele last fall and wanted to add on to it. Jess was very responsive when I reached out, and was super easy to communicate with. Mele is amazing, she was so great at listening to what I was looking for and checked in throughout the tattoo to confirm that I was happy with how it was going. She also has a super light hand, so I was really comfortable throughout. So happy with how the piece turned out Would definitely recommend her, and hope to come back soon to get more from her as well as the other artists!
