Fantastic experience: My mum and I had tattoos done by Veronica. I cannot recommend her enough! We had such a great experience from booking right through to aftercare. Vera is friendly, helpful and has great communication. On the day, she made us feel very welcome and comfortable. Her designs were absolutely beautiful and I was blown away by how perfectly she captured my ideas! She was very happy to make small changes we wanted to one of the designs and was so patient with me when I was unsure about placement. This was my first tattoo and Vera made me feel at ease throughout. The tattoos look amazing- thank you so much!

Fantastic experience: I had the privilege of getting tattooed by Carpe. I messaged him a few weeks before our booking about the details do the tattoo and was unsure about sizing... And when I showed up, the bro had 8 different sizes of the stencil waiting (planning 10/10). On top of that, both Carpe and the rest of the artist were super welcoming and wholesome to talk to. During the tattoo, we were chit chatting the whole time (I'm a yapper if you can tell ) and it was one of the best experience I've had! After the tattoo was finished, he went over all the aftercare in detail, and explained everything in person, and then a few hours later sent the detail once again. Capre was awesome and clearly loves what he does, get a big fat 10/10 from me!!! I will 100% be coming back to Sunset Tattoo's, definitely the best of the best, couldn't complain about anything, absolutely loved it

Fantastic experience: After seeing some beautiful flash work on Veronica’s Instagram I knew I had to get one of the pieces done. Her work is beautifully fine lined and the design was exactly what I had been searching for. Veronica was patient with me deciding the size and placement of the tattoo and was considerate when putting a towel over my clothing to stop the ink transferring. The studio was easy to find thanks to a video I had seen on Veronica’s Instagram. Highly recommend if you are looking for a fine lined, delicate designed tattoo.

Gordy is an absolute ledge and an unbelievable artist. He was able to accommodate my generic request for a kiwi and gave it some flare, also fitting it nicely in between some of my pre-existing tattoos. Couldn’t be happier!

Before our trip, I did a lot of research on tattoo shops in Auckland, and Sunset Tattoo stood out right away—their reviews are consistently excellent, and their work on social media speaks for itself. I was so happy they were able to get me in while we were traveling through. The whole process was seamless—booking was easy, making a deposit online was straightforward, and Gordy even had a mock-up ready for me before I arrived. The shop itself was spotless, and everyone I met was friendly and welcoming. Gordy was fantastic to work with—not only incredibly talented, but also so easy to talk to (my husband and I probably talked his ear off, and he didn’t seem to mind one bit!). You can tell he genuinely loves what he does, and that passion comes through in his work. He created a tattoo that’s both a permanent souvenir of my trip to New Zealand and a piece filled with personal meaning. I knew I wanted the classic fern tattoo here in NZ, but with my own twist—a Boston fern frond instead of the traditional silver fern. Boston ferns were a very special part of our wedding, grown by family members, and they’re something we keep on our porches every summer back home. Gordy brought that vision to life beautifully. For me, the fern frond symbolizes new beginnings, personal growth, and resilience—and thanks to Gordy, I now have a piece of art that captures all of that perfectly. Couldn’t recommend him or Sunset Tattoo more highly!

Genuinely a really lovely guy, patient, willing to listen to what you want, but also was comfortable just letting him effectively have free rein based on my ideas. Very talented artist. Tom was happy to work within my pain tolerance, some days not being able to smash everything we wanted from the first place, without judgment. 10/10 recommend.

Fantastic experience: I got recommended Tom by 4 different friends saying he was one of the best in New Zealand for Japanese tattooing. I was always interested in getting a full back Japanese body suit. We came up with two huge snakes and honestly his Japanese tattooing is so talented even after first line work session I was stoked. The back piece looks incredible it's not quite finished I need more sessions but I've never been so stoked with a tattoo! Tom is a really nice guy to super friendly and wholesome to be around, couldn't recommend a NZ tattoo artist more!
