Fantastic experience: I had such an amazing experience getting my tattoo done by Scarlett. From the moment I arrived, she made me feel comfortable and really took the time to make sure the design was exactly what I wanted. Her attention to detail is incredible, and you can tell she genuinely cares about her work and her clients I’m honestly so in love with the final result and couldn’t recommend Scarlett enough if you’re looking for someone talented, professional, and passionate about what they do. I’ll definitely be back for my next piece .

Fantastic experience: I had Coco do my back tattoo yesterday and had the BEST experience ever. He's one of the friendliest people I've ever met and has the sickest vibe too. I loved working with him on my piece from the start, to getting it done! Massive thank you to him and also all the staff at Haven! They are all so friendly and lovely people to be around; I felt so safe and comfortable around all of them. They are so accommodating and professional. I'd 1000% recommend them if you're in Christchurch and want to get a piece done! I will definitely be coming back as a regular!

The whole service was brilliant, I had a cover up request which I send late on Thursday, had an appointment early Friday and by lunchtime it was all complete. Fantastic experience: Incredibly quick and helpful response to my initial enquiry and very clear instructions on deposit and studio location. Sam the artist provided half a dozen versions of my vision and made small change on the day to make it perfect. The end result is great, and captured exactly what I had hoped for. Warm and welcoming studio, not at all intimidating. I wish I could remember the name of the gorgeous girl at the front desk, she was so kind and enthusiastic. Highly recommend.

I was lucky enough to be tattooed by Mario and he designed my piece when I arrived and talked me through every single step with what he was doing and explained everything so well. Holly was so welcoming to me with contacting me to make sure o knew everything beforehand and helped with the aftercare for me. I can’t recommend this place enough especially for a first tattoo!! Fantastic experience: I recently went to Haven and had the pleasure of meeting the sweetest Tattoo artist called Jeremy. Not only was he super kind and funny , he is very talented. I wanted a bumblebee tattooed onto my chest and he did a careful , delicate and amazing job. Check out Jeremy if you ever want a brillant piece of art. !!! You will not be disappointed.

Fantastic experience: We got our first tattoo here! I would recommend, we had ren who did all three of us in about 3 hours, she was amazing, very sterile, they let us sit inside early and offered snacks and drinks like coffee, tea, water, juice, the artist talks you through everything and any and make adjustments, they are totally understanding, and will check every time that its exactly what you want, the 3 of us all had different but specific ideas in mind and ren not only conveyed it into somthing beautiful but kept all of our ideas while adding her own touch to it

Fantastic experience: I had Mario do a beautiful tattoo on my arm. It was my first tattoo, and I wanted something delicate and viney. It came out just as requested—very similar to my reference pictures. They made sure my blood sugar wasn’t too low before starting, and let me know that I could have a break anytime need be. The tattoo healed nicely, and I really appreciate that I was given a free pottle of aftercare ointment (being that it was my first tattoo). Overall, very good experience—the staff were friendly and careful, and made sure I was informed. Will definitely be coming back here for my next tattoo ☺️

Negative experience: Tattoo artist was rude. For someone’s first tattoo you would think that they would be accommodating to the client. I asked to see my tattoo stencil in a bigger size and the artist did a big sigh and huffed at me. This was my first tattoo and is very meaningful for me so i wanted it to be amazing. The tattoo artist mocked my accent and was very rude she was sighing and huffing and puffing when i asked for a different size stencil. Apart from my artist everyone else i interacted with at the shop was so kind and amazing! My tattoo is less than a year old and needs a touch up but i don’t want the same artist tattooing me again. If your thinking about getting a tattoo from haven do not go for Sami!

Negative experience: Staff were friendly, however my experience was otherwise lacking. Went in for a cover up - emailed the studio with what I was after (abstract / black work style) and got put with a realism artist. He completely changed my concept, which with the imagery he showed me I agreed with, the design was then free-handed it onto me and once it was finished, it was nothing like I thought it would be. The design relied heavily on shading to make it look good and unfortunately this was not executed well. The tattoo also healed awfully, I went in for a touch up and this was rushed and still didn’t look much lot better. I have since been to another studio to get this cover-up, covered up! I have a fair few tattoos and have been to many tattoo studios, and I would definitely say this was very very overpriced - charged at $650 for about 2 hours of work. The tattoo was priced by the receptionist which I thought was bizarre, I have only ever received quotes from the artist directly tattooing me as they know how long it’ll roughly take. I was quoted this price, however I thought maybe when they realised it wouldn’t take as long as expected the price would be reduced as $300+ per hour at that rate is exorbitant, but no that is still what I was charged. Unfortunately I wouldn’t go back even though there are many talented artists there, and wouldn’t recommend.

Fantastic experience: My friend recommended Haven tattoo to me and wow i was not disappointed. I have the Lovely Erika do my tattoo and she put exactly what i had in my head onto my body. Her fine lines were amazing and she made me feel so comfortable. We had a lovely convo. The staff at the front desk were also lovely. Ollie who also took my appointment was fantastic and im sorry i didn't get the other ladies name behind the counter but she was amazing as well. Overall the price was great, you get a free touch up and the customer service was amazing. I will be back. The owner is very lucky to have such great staff. By the way i got the tattoo on my thigh and the pain was minimal.

Fantastic experience: Me and my best friend got matching Rook ear piercings here and I could not recommend enough! I don’t usually write reviews but I decided I had to. The lady who pierced us was so welcoming and friendly and put us at ease with great conversation. It was extremely professional and she was very knowledgeable making sure she was doing what was best for our unique anatomy, and let us know we can always contact her thoughout the healing process if we had any questions. Could not recommend enough! It was a very easy experience, it was great! Only thing to consider is there isn't the largest array of jewelry to choose from for all piercings, but this isn’t really an issue. Thank you so much!!!

Fantastic experience: Literally the best place to get a tattoo, such amazing service with 10/10 vibes I had a walk in appointment, from the get go the reception service, comfortable atmosphere and overall vibe were genuine and amazing!! Within 30 mins of booking with an artist I was getting stenciled and tatted Ren's linework, placement, and constant reassurance were only some of the amazing things she provided today. I will 100% always recommend Haven for any tattoo or piercings needs.

Fantastic experience: I started my leg sleeve in American traditional at Haven with Olivia, and honestly she’s a brilliant artist who really made me feel confident and allowed me to enjoy the entire process. The result goes far beyond what I expected. On top of that, the whole session had an amazing vibe, she works with a level of skill and ease that makes the experience genuinely fun. I can only recommend trusting Olivia with your project if you’re considering American traditional; she’s really talented and the whole process was just awesome !!!

Fantastic experience: I was visiting NZ from the USA and knew I wanted to get a walk-in tattoo. I chose Haven because their web presence gave the impression of being inclusive and friendly (they were). After sharing my idea with the reception staff, I was matched up with Mario. Not only did I get a spectacular, full-color, realistic tattoo of a wandering albatross, but I also had 5+ hours of meaningful conversation and laughter with Mario. His vision for my tattoo was way better than what I had planned. He aligned it so nicely with my existing tattoos, both in terms of placement and color choice. I’m so glad I trusted him with the design. Overall great experience and if I didn’t live 8700 miles away, I would absolutely return for another.

Negative experience: My girlfriend didn’t get the correct artist for fine line, she wasn’t specializing for fine line font. Now the tattoo is unevenly healed with some part thicker or lighter… disappointed for a NZ memory

Fantastic experience: My partner and I have been dreaming about getting a rather vulgar tattoo in a specific area on myself for a number of years. Something simple but not many people would understand and be judgement free so we avoided doing it for ages. But Shea was absolutely incredible about it. She was super professional and private. She made the whole experience go from something that could definitely be horrible and full of judgement to one where we were made to feel super comfortable. Not to mention that she absolutely killed it, you can tell she is amazing at what she does. I couldn't recommend her enough. We simply can not get over how great she made the whole experience. Fantastic experience: Just want to say a special thank you to Sami (@sxmitarytattoo) for her patience, cooperation and dedication to designing and tattooing my blackout cyber-cigilism piece on my lower stomach and hips. Sami is now a senior apprentice at Haven Tattoo, however she carries her head as high as a Senior Tattooist, with skill complimenting that. We spent much time discussing cost, and making arrangements to fit my budget, with which she added a lot of comfort to a costly piece. The entire process from having the tattoo completed, to every conversation afterward has been held with the upmost professionalism and respect I could ask for, with also creating a very personable experience. I couldn’t recommend Sami more, and I look forward to continuing my tattoo journey alongside her.

She made me feel much more comfortable about booking an appointment and chose the right artist for what I wanted. My tattoo artist was Liv and she was super friendly! She had the stencil prepared already and I was happy with the results so we sized up and started the process. We chatted the whole time and before I knew it the tattoo was done. Incredibly happy with the results and got provided with loads of information about aftercare and contact details for any questions. Super friendly and professional studio! Highly recommend.

Within a week we met the lovely Ren at their New Regent Street location who drew up the most gorgeous designs for us. He helped me to pick a piece of artwork that I was happy with and he was amazingly gentle and considerate given my 'virgin' status. The aftercare follow-up was excellent. Fantastic experience: Haven is one of those tattoo shops that feels like a beautifully choreographed dance! Everyone is so welcoming and kind, you never feel awkward or out of place as the staff are fun, goofy (and professional) and make you feel like you're the best of friends since way back! I've had the pleasure of being tattooed by Sami (sxmitarytattoo) and Kylie a guest artist (berrystainedfingers) which all were a breeze to get done. The chill vibes of the store and warm atmosphere up in the studios make the whole experience a whole lot less daunting - the studio feels modernized and classy as well as curating a fun, walk-in-off-the-street vibe in the heart of CHCH. Such a fun location too. Even after having surgery in her mouth, with limited ways to converse and not as much energy as normal, Kylie was amazing to work with and made me feel super comfortable. Sami who is an apprentice (hopefully not for much longer, promote her already ) was extremely professional, checked everything over with me and made all the annoying changes that I was super picky about. With such an extensive range of artists, there's really no need to go elsewhere!

Fantastic experience: Saw Heather at Haven Tattoo for a new neck piece, and she absolutely nailed it. I gave her a rough idea, and she brought it to life way better than I imagined. The tattoo looks amazing and is healing great. The studio was super clean, and the whole atmosphere was good vibes, I felt really comfortable the entire time. I was a bit nervous about switching from my usual tattooist, but I’m so glad I did. Will definitely be going back! Love her work

Fantastic experience: I had the best time at Haven Tattoo. Honestly the best customer service. Even before I visited, all communication online were so clear and helpful. When I arrived, the receptionist that welcomed me was very friendly and lovely. While I waited I had conversations with two other artists and they were lovely. Felt very at ease even though this was my first tattoo. The place was very clean and utmost care was taken to ensure I was looked after properly. Shea did my tattoo. It was a very simple yet meaningful tattoo for me - in honour of a team that means the world to me (Crusaders). A tattoo that I’ve been wanting to get for the longest time. The time just felt right. She worked with me to make sure I was happy with the design. I love it and am so happy with how it turned out. Thank you so much to everyone involved. I will definitely be visiting again. I highly recommend.

The vibes are unparralleled and the location is ideal. I went in for a Harry Potter cover-up and they were super on board, had to go back when I saw a flash pop up that spoke to me

Fantastic experience: Tyler has been tattooing my sleeve since September last year and we are 8 sessions deep currently. Everytime I visit Tyler, and the rest of the team at the drifter site, have been welcoming and make me feel in a safe and supported space. On top of that Tyler is a talented artist and has been able to turn my vague descriptions into exactly what I was imagining.

Fantastic experience: My most recent tattoo is my Betty boop flash from Sam. She kindly customised it to my liking and was so awesome with tattooing and making the experience great. Sam is the sweetest soul and I will definitely be coming back to Haven and to her specifically.

Fantastic experience: I came in for my tattoo a few weeks ago the lady who answered the phone and texted me (I’m so sorry I forgot your name) was nothing but lovely, accommodating and sweet. She booked me in with Kylie who did my tattoo on such short notice and not only was Kylie sweet but she was funny and did an amazing job on my tattoo she looked over it at the end and touched up any spots she wasn’t happy with. I’ll definitely be back and hopefully I have Kylie!

Fantastic experience: My husband and I were having brunch opposite Haven and decided to get matching tattoos on our last day in Christchurch. From the moment we wandered in the team were so professional, clearly communicated the price and Mario listened exactly to what we wanted and delivered!
