Fantastic experience: Max is an incredible nail artist! I tend to go a little more low key then a lot of the nails they do but no matter what plan I want Max is great to throw ideas to and discuss to get the most beautiful nails! So far I have had 4 sets of nails the first two (stars and flowers) were right at the start of their nails journey and they were incredible right from the start. My favourite are definitely my ocean themed press on ones which I've worn many times! They come in a lovely plastic box so stay protected between uses. Max is so friendly and inclusive you can chat away to them or just sit quietly and watch a show together. I've already planned out the next two sets that I want!!! Can't wait

Fantastic experience: I came in for a consultation with Katie to discuss a tattoo idea. Firstly, the studio is so welcoming and bright, you can tell the staff love working here. I could tell within seconds Katie understood what I wanted and took my idea and made it 10x better! She suggested a placement that worked way better than where I initially said. I felt completely at ease and had that instant rapport with her and cannot wait to start the work!!

Fantastic experience: i had my leg tattooed by lindsay over two sessions, and honestly there’s nobody else i would’ve wanted to spend 12 hours with haha ☺️ the atmosphere here is so relaxed and welcoming, and i’m so so happy with how my tattoo turned out!! will be coming back for sure

She was super friendly and made sure my comfort was top priority. My tattoo came out amazing and I look forward to working with her as well as more artists from the studios in the future.

Negative experience: went in for a walk in tattoo as they advertise it everywhere and the woman on the desk was very rude and passive aggressive saying they had no availability for today and the future either. would not recommend

Negative experience: Terrible service with my girlfriend, walk in service advertised everywhere on their instagram but once we walked in were greeted with only rude staff and told no one doing walk in tattoos.

Fantastic experience: Had a brilliant time with Maximal Nails (Max). Go my first set in a while opting for gel-x, and the feel so strong. Max was lovely from pre-appointment answering my most random questions and concerns, to consult where we brought my vision to life together, and then the actual nails where every step was explained to me as it would happen. Throughout the nail design Max would check in at every step, and ask if I liked it so far, offering their expertise on what would happen if we, for example, added another coat of polish. He was patient with me whilst I decided on the length, because I really didnt want to compromise on the shape, but needed them shorter. Then on the more intricate design areas, they would listen to my ideas and then suggested further by finding images to show me different ways my idea could be realised. Thank so much Max, as I said then, I am OBSSESSED with the nails and so is everyone around me

Fantastic experience: Visited Shallows for the first time today for a tattoo. Great atmosphere, really chill vibes and just a cool space. Everyone's really welcoming and friendly. Been coming to Meg for tattoos for a while and she's recently moved to Shallows. Can't recommend her enough!! Her tattoos are always gorgeous. Highly recommend her if you're after a pin up girl or women's face tattoo. Came for a Lilith tattoo today, was particularly painful and Meg was so reassuring and encouraging the whole time and I'm so glad I pushed through because it's stunning

Fantastic experience: I’ve been seeing Julia at Beauty Tales Studio for several years now, and I wouldn’t go anywhere else. I love coming to Shallows, there’s always something going on, from tattoos to nails and hair. It’s such a vibrant, welcoming place to visit. I usually book in with Julia for classic lashes as they’re my favourite, but over the years I’ve also had hybrids, Russians, lash lifts and brows done by her. Every single time, she absolutely nails it. My lashes always look incredible and she genuinely makes me feel like a new woman after every appointment. Not only is she amazing at what she does, but you also get a little free therapy session while you’re lying there so it’s the best kind of self-care. I honestly can’t recommend her enough. If you want the best lashes in Manchester, this is the place to go.

Fantastic experience: I came to Tegan for a wolf cut and she was absolutely amazing!! I wasn’t sure exactly what I wanted but she gave me a really in depth consultation, looking at my hair currently, my reference photos, photos of previous cuts etc and helped me work out what we were going for. I also have wavy hair and have struggled to style it properly, but Tegan cut and styled it to really bring out my waves and recommended products/a routine to suit my hair type! She got so much texture out of my hair and I’ve never seen it so curly. I’m used to hairdressers just blow drying my hair and putting lots of products in that aren’t suited to my hair type and make it feel heavy, and this was the first time I’ve walked out of a salon 100% happy with my hair, with it actually styled to suit me and feeling so silky! Tegan creates such a comfortable atmosphere and is so attentive to your individual needs. I can’t wait to be back again, thank u soooo much <33

Fantastic experience: i came here to get a matching tattoo with my friend and it was a lovely and calm experience they make sure the placement is perfect and it's a very lovely atmosphere i also had my nails done by maximal nails who i found through shallows and i usually dislike going to salons for my nails as it's loud, bright and overstimulating for my autism personally but getting them done at maximal nails was the complete opposite experience. it was relaxing, quiet and a lovely atmosphere and the perfect place to get my nails done as i wasn't incredibly drained after and we could work in silence and also have good conversation. i was comfortable well looked after and the nails are amazing, i'll definitely be back!!

I got answers to all my questions and she was overall the best piercer I’ve been to. She was incredibly hygienic and professional. The studio was also lovely and atmospheric. Super pleased, I highly recommend!

Fantastic experience: Alana-Rose was awesome. Got some finger tattoos and I was pretty nervous. Alana Rose was really quick, and it was less painful than I imagined. Love her work and a really nice person.

Fantastic experience: Meliza at Celestial Nails has transformed my nails from bitten down stumps to absolutely gorgeous, healthy, and always stylish BIAB baddies in under a year. She’s amazing with nail health and care and education, and also with making you feel relaxed. Before her I had never gotten my nails done and was worried about asking for shorter nails on one hand for the girls (IYKYK) but she’s super inclusive. I love her designs and creativity so much that I let her have free rein to try new designs and let her creativity flow free, that’s how much I trust her. I wouldn’t go to anyone else

Fantastic experience: I’ve had my nails done multiple times by Meliza / Celestial Nails and she smashes it everytime! Most recently I came in for NYE nails and i wasn’t completely sure what i wanted aside from french tips. She took me through all the options, showed me different colours, different finishes, different extension lengths, and even gems that could be added. Had a great experience from start to finish that felt completely personal to me, and ended up with even better nails than I went in hoping for. She added a gorgeous sparkly topcoat to make them pop for Christmas and new years! Super friendly, easy to talk to, and great service all round. Would recommend to everyone! And the nails lasted so well!

Fantastic experience: I wanted to start getting biab again after a year break and I came across Hannah (@by.hannah.nails). I was looking for someone who didn’t use e-files on the natural nail for the first appointment (I’d had some bad experiences in the past) and she said though she usually does, she would be able to do this manually for me, which was really kind. When I arrived she had put a little package together to prepare the nails for the biab without using the electric file which I found very thoughtful. She was careful and considerate the whole appointment, taking her time and making sure it was all perfect. I recently went back for an infill appointment and it was the same experience again. I’ve never had anyone take such care with my nails - she is absolutely fab and does such amazing design work too!! Would recommend to anyone and everyone - thank you!! ☺️

Fantastic experience: Have been tattooed by Laila (l.i.l.tattoo) a few times now, and every time is a joy! I have had machine & hand poke tattoos from them and all have healed beautifully. Incredible artist, lovely human, talented tattooer - can highly recommend!

Fantastic experience: I don't know what kinda witchcraft went down last night, but Beth (Barnetsbybeth) was absolutely incredible. Went in to get some highlights done, and as someone who's been messing with and messing up their hair colour for years, she was super upfront and honest with the potential result I might get, which I was more then happy with. I ended up leaving with honestly the most incredible hair colour I've had! So well done, so much time and care and energy, and she managed to lift my hair to the most beautiful blonde highlights, I couldn't be more happy! Plus, she's an absolute gem and lovely to spend the time with!! Beth - you are absolutely magic and I can't wait to come back to you for future touch ups!!

I've been going for a while initially for nails but have recently started going for hair via barnetsbybethx - I was initially quite nervous to start going to someone new but the second you walk into to Shallow you feel so welcomed and put at ease by everyone there. Beth herself is so talented (along with the whole team !!) and made the whole experience as smooth as possible (accompanied with some top tier yap x) - cannot recommend her and Shallows enough if I tried !!! 10/10 xo

They talked me through the steps of my hair cut, listened to all my hair concerns and made me feel less anxious about the whole thing. Walked away with the best haircut I've ever had! Fantastic experience: Absolutely love it here. So many options to get your hair done or any other beauty treatments. All of the staff are lovely and friendly and the venue is brilliant and very aesthetic. Had my hair done by both Phoebe (rude hair) and Tegan (Alt Hair Fairy) who are both incredible and do different things based on your proce points and needs.

Beth did an amazing job of advising and explaining a style that complimented my face structure while listening to exactly what I wanted. Considering I have partial dreadlocks Beth did a beautiful job. After only having my hair cut by a mobile hairdresser Beth and her team made me feel welcomed and put my anxiety at ease. Beth is a creative alternative hairstylist, using vintage and modern styles to create personally unique look for every individual she encounters. If you're looking for an alternative hairstyles stylist that has experience in "crazy" hair colours definitely look up Beth's portfolio on Instagram @barnetsbybethx you will not regret. X

Fantastic experience: Had a 2 hour bottomless session with @l.i.l.tattoo (Liala) and the tattoos look incredible!! I’m very new to tattoos and she went through the sizing and position for each one making sure I was happy with all of them. Felt really comfortable the whole session and given aftercare advice and sheet afterwards. Really pleased with them and the whole experience!!

Fantastic experience: Brilliant service by Paige! Walked in, wet through, fresh off the plane from Germany. After watching my team, Chelsea women, play in the Champions League, my favourite player Lucy Bronze signed my arm. Paige fit me in straight away and tattooed my shoulder with Lucy’s autograph. Very friendly, clean and accommodating. I felt very comfortable and the tattoo has healed perfectly. Thanks Paige, I love it

Fantastic experience: Had the best experience getting a tattoo at Shallows with Annie! Such a great environment, choice of flash and customisation. Annie made the experience absolutely amazing. She was very patient with me (because I was an absolute wuss over the pain), was really helpful with design placement and sizing. Not to mention that she is such a lovely artist! Very bubbly and friendly and made the experience so much fun! Will definitely be back soon!

Fantastic experience: Monica (Artistry by Mon) is amazing! A real perfectionist, taking her time to ensure I was happy evey step of the way, friendly, welcoming and such a relaxing experience. Her work is gorgeous, very happy. The whole studio has a relaxed, welcoming vibe. Every artist has a smile for everyone, always a lovely experience.

Fantastic experience: I hadn't had my nails done for a while due to bad experiences elsewhere. I went to Meliza (celestial nails) first in September 2025 and couldn't imagine going anywhere else! I told her that I wanted to eventually grow my own natural nails to be able to use biab. She started with gel X and after 2 appointments I finally have the long, strong nails I've always wanted! Meliza made me feel so relaxed and had me laughing 5 minutes into the first appointment. Her work ethic and attention to detail matches her infectious personality. I honestly cannot recommend her enough!

Fantastic experience: I’ve been going to shallows for well over a year now for various tattoos and piercings, ive always felt really welcome by all the staff, they’re super friendly and chatty, im always excited to go in. The reason I started going to shallows was Alana, she’s tattooed me for about 4 years and I’ve probably had over 100 hours of work from her, she is always professional, cleanly and she is an all round incredible artist. If you like traditional tattoos I can’t recommend her enough!!

Fantastic experience: Amazing tattoo studio with many amazing artists. Alana helped me finish a large chest piece that I've been waiting 5 years to get done, even fixing mistakes made by previous artists. I loved the shop atmosphere as it helped to calm my nerves, honestly I can't sing their praises enough. I'd call it the best tattoo shop that you haven't heard of.

Fantastic experience: Thanks to Joel for decorating my massive ears with 4 pericings! Joel was able to help me visualise a plan for how I want my ears to look, I had not had a pericing in over 5 years out of fear, but Joel was really patient, making sure I was comfortable and fully informed during the process. All have healed beautifully and I expect I'll be getting a new one very soon! Thanks again

Fantastic experience: I recently went to Paige for my back tattoo and I can honestly say this was the best tattoo experience I’ve ever had. I’ve had a few off Paige in the past and she’s always made me feel calm and comfortable, especially considering I can get anxious in unfamiliar settings with lots of people. She always manages to put a smile on your face and gets a good giggle out of you too, plus she makes sure to check in on you throughout the session. Not many artists I’ve found genuinely listen like Paige does, it’s always as if she goes above and beyond because the design ideas I bring to her come out better than expected every time. She’s someone I can wholly trust with something so permanent, and I always look forward to my next appointments with her. If you’re looking to get some new ink, I’d 10000% recommend Paige, she’s the best artist all around and the loveliest person too! I wouldn’t go to anyone else
