Negative experience: I came in to have the post/stem on my kid’s earring changed and was charged $75 for what took about two minutes and essentially just involved inserting the post. We had already paid over $100 for the initial piercing and jewelry, so I assumed a simple follow-up adjustment like this would either be complimentary or at least reasonably priced, or that the price would have been stated up front before we committed to the service. What made the experience worse was the interaction between the staff. While the piercer was explaining the service to the counter staff, the tone of the conversation made it feel as though they knew the price was excessive and found it amusing. To top it off, the payment screen asked for a tip on top of the $75 charge, which felt pretty audacious given the cost and how quick the service was. It made the whole interaction feel more about squeezing extra money out of customers than providing a good experience. I didn’t say anything at the time because my child was there and I didn’t want to make a scene, but the whole interaction left me feeling uncomfortable. Overall, the price and the way the situation was handled left a very poor impression. If this is standard pricing, it would be helpful for customers to have that clearly communicated ahead of time.

Fantastic experience: I’ve come here for 7 piercings. No experience on the tattoo side here. My last few piercings were done by Mat Jaffray and he’s really great. Highly recommend!

Negative experience: Customer service was good. That’s all the good I can say for this establishment though. The studio was dirty, the artists were slow and disorganized and all the tattoos my party of 3 got are choppy, uneven, and already half faded just two weeks later.

Negative experience: I got to see first hand a training shift. The person the get to train people doesn't know what they're doing when it comes to sizing jewelry. I went in with a tunnel for my ear, hoping to find a piece in the same size to replace my lost one, and they determined after using a tool that my piercing was a specific size. So they tell me they may not have that exact size, but I won't require stretching to fit a new piece. It's only after they tell me NO REFUNDS and after the purchase is complete when I try and put it in that the jewelry didn't fit. It would require an entire size stretched to fit. I was told this was not the case. They refused to process a refund. DONT SHOP HERE. THEY WILL CONVINCE YOU TO BUY JEWLERY THAT DOESNT FIT, THEN REFUSE TO REFUND YOU DESPITE THEM SAYING "IT WILL FIT FINE". So, tldr: the person training their employees measured a piece of jewelry, and determined it was an entire size up from what it actually was. That's who you're trusting to pierce you. Someone who saw 1 and thought it was 2.

Negative experience: Came in seeking an install at 6:40pm and got turned away due to their schedule of needing to clean. I had a preexisting piercing and was seeking to change the jewellery. Staff confirmed mall hrs and store hrs are until 8pm mon thru Fri. Lady was being willfully obtuse about the store hours Again, to clarify I came into the shop at 6:40pm, where the piecer was still present and just did not want to complete the job.

Negative experience: Truthfully, disappointed in the lack of professionalism, we came in to get a tongue piercing done 1245 minutes during that time we walked around the mall when we returned they’ve told us oh sorry we don’t have the equipment to do it. When did it come to light? they could’ve just phoned us and said oh listen we don’t have it or sorry. Can we book you guys in for another time instead of making us wait 45 minutes and then sending us to West Edmonton mall to get it done clearly better coaching needs to be done. We will not be returning.

Fantastic experience: Mat was AMAZING!! He did walk-in piercings for our group of 3, and we all absolutely loved him. He explained each step and made sure we were comfortable. The shop was clean and professional. We highly recommend them!!!

Negative experience: Ive been going here for 3 years and have been pierced twice and tattooed once. Everytime I go in, I feel as if I'm always fighting the one receptionist for service; They give me a hard time everytime I go in inquiring about service. They even one time said they couldn't help me, to later asking the artist and the artist said, "no problem, I can help you with that". I wish they could offer more service without their first instinct to turn me away. The artists are great.

Negative experience: Horrible experience. Avoid this place at all costs. From the second I walked in, I regretted it. The artist had a terrible attitude and clearly didn’t want to be there. He was rude, cold, and completely uninterested in what I wanted. The studio looked dirty and unprofessional, not at all what you'd expect from a place that's supposed to be doing permanent work on your body. I asked to blend a new tattoo with an old one, and he couldn’t have cared less. No input, no effort, just wanted to rush through it and get me out the door. He dry shaved me so roughly that I left with razor burn and bruises. I asked if that was normal, and he sarcastically told me I should know, since I’ve had tattoos before. I've had several, and none of them were this sloppy or painful. This wasn’t just a bad tattoo session — it was straight-up negligent. I wouldn’t send my worst enemy here.

Fantastic experience: Been pierced by Mat 4 times and had a great and comfortable experience each time. Mat is very knowledgable, patient and skilled. Front desk was also very kind and welcoming!

Negative experience: I was sold an internally threaded stud for my microdermal that was too small for my microdermal. I told the person at the front my microdermal was done at a 14 gauge which is the standard for microdermals. She sold me a 16 gauge top saying confidently it was a 14 gauge. She let me know that sizes might vary between brands which I wasn't worried about because I have bought microdermal tops from multiple brands all at a 14 gauge which have fit me. I tried to put it in and it didn't fit so I came back and asked about the sizing again and she confirmed they were 14 gauge tops. She then said if it was too small that means I was pierced at a 12 gauge which I was not. I think she just mixed up the 16 gauges with the 14 gauges. I couldn't get a refund or exchange of course which I understand but those definitely were not 14 gauge tops.

Fantastic experience: Went here to get my helix pierced. My piercer was Rachael, and she was amazing. She explained the process very clearly and made a welcoming atmosphere. 100% will come back to this place for more piercings later.

Negative experience: PLEASE DO NOT LOOK AT THE PHOTO IF YOU HAVE A WEAK STOMACH. I got my belly button pierced back in January. It was honestly one of the worst pains of my life. It bled SO much. Whenever I SLIGHTLY moved it would start pouring blood, I believe I went through a couple whole tissue box's. They did however put gauze on it (which I bled through) and gave me a juice box. They did ask if I drink a lot of coffee, and I do which explains the bleeding they said. But I feel like this was just wayyyy to much to be normal. When I got home I noticed it was crooked, I didn't think much of it. Fast forward to now, I thought I had a huge keloid, so I called a different place and asked about it they said they pierced it wrong. So now here I am, no belly piercing, a big hard lump on my bellybutton, booking a doctors appointment, $30 poorer because I had to buy bactine and polysporin, and $150 poorer because of a piercing they didn't pierce correctly. I do want to add that the staff was extremely friendly, especially the girl at the front staff. I feel bad writing about this, but I don't want anyone else to get screwed over.

Fantastic experience: Awesome experience at DFX, friendly environment with very knowledgeable people working there. Mat made my piercing quick and accurate, keeping me informed how to care for it after and making sure I was happy before and after with the placement and look. Will be coming back .

Negative experience: It is a clean studio with artists who knows what they are doing. It's pretty expensive. For really small things that are fast it's too much. It's up to you. The artist himself(Kris) was too cautious(?), and acted like I've never had a tattoo before(did he not see my big foot tattoo that was well healed? I guess not) and gave me a long speech about how to care for my tiny tattoo, a bit unnecessary but I get what hes doing, could have been nicer. Also I told him I was twitchy(not that bad I promise) but he didn't really listen to me and felt like he was scolding me when I told him.. I literally twich without control, kind of embarrassing but here we are lol I think he needs to be a bit nicer and listen to his client. They(or just this one artists) don't use second skin either and it's probably the best way to cover and heal a tattoo I've found. Overall walk in get what you get or book. It's convenient in kingsway.

Fantastic experience: Amazing team that helped me with problems with a dermal piercing that was done at another shop in Kelowna. The stones had fallen out and I couldn't get new ones in, tried both 14 and 16 guage and they didn’t work. I thought it was me, so headed off to Dragon Tattoo kn Kingsway. The piercer, and her lovely mentee, got me prepped and on the table in no time. Only to find out that it wasn't me after all and that the bar that I had just was incorrect. It is some sort of weird 16 gauge that it does not exist anywhere suggested I contact them or I'd have to retire the bar. Unfortunately after more problems with my original shop I visited them for a second time to have them pull out my bar and it is now retired. While I am disappointed about that I can truly not think the team enough for helping me to fix a problem that wasn't theirs in the first place. Thanks again guys!!

The staff were really nice from the moment I walked in and they told me everything that I needed to know before I got my tattoo. Fantastic experience: I have been going to this place since I was 18. I had 2 botched earlobe piercings as a child (Claire’s) and they rejected horribly with infection- I thought I could never have any piercings including earlobes. I decided to go to DFX at 18 and try an earlobe piercing again, and Mat did them. They healed wonderfully and I learned about the importance of jewelry quality, proper aftercare, etc, and I was able to get all kinds of piercings I’ve wanted over the last 2 years all of which have been healing great. The staff at both stores is great, from frontend, to tattoos to piercings (all of which i’ve interacted with). They are educated, communicate clearly, super friendly, etc. I will never go anywhere else. This place is safe and full of talent!

Fantastic experience: My sister and I were walk-in's, wanting to get some piercings. I already knew I wanted a nostril piercing, however, my sister didn't know what she wanted. I had some concerns about getting a nostril piercing and hitting a nerve as I've heard that can happen. When we got in, the employees were very accommodating and helpful. They helped me pick out what jewelry would be best and addressed my concerns as well as giving me a price estimate. They also talked through some options with my sister and were able to help her make a decision that she was happy with. Our piercer was Mat. He did an amazing job explaining the process beforehand and I felt very safe. He addressed all my fears and concerns before we started. We also had a good chat. My nostril piercing was quick and painless and ended up healing very well. (Seriously, Mat is the best) My sister ended up getting 2 piercings from Mat which ended up amazing as well. She was also very happy. Overall, the experience was amazing. The employees are very skilled and welcoming and I've had nothing but good experiences here so far and every time I've went I've been a walk-in. We were probably in and out in less than 20 minutes.

Negative experience: Worst tattoo experience of my life, do not reccomend. The atmosphere and attitude of the artist were both very rude & uncomfortable. And they still made me pay for it even tho I was leaving in a fit of anxiety from the treatment. Considering removing the tattoo so I don't retain that memory. The minute I spoke to the artist I got bad vibes. He seemed annoyed. He told my wife she couldn't enter the room even tho we wanted to plan our tattoos together. The moment I entered the operation room I felt uncomfortable. The TV had a women struggling, cursing, fighting and being abused by men. The artist was impatient, Unhelpful, and clearly did not want to be there. He thought I was an idiot and didn't want to bother with me. The artist was rude to my wife. She was going to get her first tattoo there and I refused to submit her to that treatment. I found a lovely place that treated us well downtown. This experience makes me feel like a fool for allowing these energies around me when it comes to art and ink. It's a disgusting memory. The tattoo is significant as a symbol of my first anniversary with my wife. Now it reminds me of that awful treatment. I'm honestly so regretful I went there and allowed that to happen to me. Disgusted.

Fantastic experience: Great experience! Matt was quick doing a floating naval piercing ( my big girls would understand). He had me giggling away and the rest of the staff were so funny and friendly while I waited for my friends to get their piercings. I came back a week later to switch my bar length and even tho Matt was so booked he squeezed me in with the help of communication with the boss there!!

Positive experience: On the one hand, in a previous appointment, I got very kind and helpful advice from Mat about removing a nostril piercing prior to surgery. On the other hand, I had an EXTREMELY negative experience with them cancelling today's appointment with less than an hour's notice. I understand it was due to a staff member's medical emergency, and so, was unavoidable. What bothers me is the way it was handled. Poor communication and lack of information. I wasn't told what to expect or the fact that a walk-in appointment wouldn't work because my piercing hadn't been out long enough. I was also asked over the phone repeatedly for information I had already provided by email and it made me feel really unheard and unseen, in addition to wasting a trip to the mall. I think they're kind and well meaning folks but way too chaotic and it meant a really negative experience for me. I'm very sad about this because I really like working with Mat but the trust with the front desk is absolutely gone. Very disappointed, definitely won't be back.

Fantastic experience: I had recently gotten a piercing elsewhere, when i called asking for advice about that piercing the staff were very nice and helpful. I was able to go in and see Mat specifically who took time out of his day to look at it and give me recommendations without charge!

Fantastic experience: Decided to wait a few months before giving my review now that my piercings are nice and healed! They healed perfectly and I recently finally swapped out my piercings with zero issue! Matt deserves the praise he receives in these reviews for sure! Even months after my appointment, I remember being treated very kindly and he did his best to make me feel comfortable. I appreciate he took part in my conversations as I talk a lot when I am nervous haha! He warned me when something may be painful, and when the poke for the septum likely would trigger my eyes to water (which it did lol). It was not very painful, just the body reacting to the intrusion which is to be expected and normal! I got my third lobes, and my septum piercing, which both healed amazingly with no issues or irritation. The little booklet provided giving more information on your type of piercing and the timeframe in which it should be healed (so you can swap out the jewelry) alongside how to care for it was lovely and very helpful! I had no idea saline would dry my nose if I used it to clean my piercing had he not told me. They know their stuff here and genuinely strive to make sure you have the best experience possible! They even called a few weeks after my appointment to check in and make sure everything is healing okay :) The price is incredibly reasonable for both the quality of jewelry you are getting, and the service with both their employees and overall cleanliness of the place! If you're a student like me, you can even get a small discount! I'll certainly be booking my next piercing here, and maybe eventually my first tattoo! 10/10 place I recommend to anyone looking for a professional and friendly environment for piercings :)

Negative experience: I got a jewelery change for my nose, they are over three years healed. When I came in the guy changing my jewelry put the taper in without looking as to where the hole was and practically pierced a new hole in my nose. The piercing has never bled like that since I had it pierced 3 years ago. In addition to this, the two front desk workers were very clearly under the influence of marijuana and created a less then comforting environment to costumers.

Fantastic experience: Was absolutely hesitant and scared to get my double helix pierced. But Mat made the space super calming! He would tell you step by step what he was about to do and ask for permission, etc. so that you wouldn’t be lost or scared. Space was also absolutely clean :) The piercing itself wasn’t as bad as I thought :) love it there! Def would recommend!!

Negative experience: I already rate it a year ago and gave it one star, but I didn’t leave a review because I just knew I was never coming back and was ready to move on with my life. But recently, I went to this location for a piercing, and the amazing experience I had reminded me this place so I wanted to share it with everyone. I got a bunch of piercings here—two nose piercings, a septum piercing, and a Labret piercing. The first two visits were okay, but during my last visit, I encountered an unfriendly front desk lady who was laughing at what I was saying and wasn’t really trying to listen. I had a Labret piercing, and I wanted it changed because it was sticking out and I wanted a specific design, not just the plain metal. Mind you, this young lady is 6feet away from me she didn’t check I piercing or did not offer one of Her colleagues to check but she sent me away. I told her I got it months ago and wanted to changed. She told me I still had swelling on my lip, so they weren’t going to change it mind you, this young lady is 6feet away from me she didn’t check my piercing or did not offer anyone to do so. I explained that it wasn’t swelling, just that my lip is a bit bigger, and the piercing was sticking out. There were no signs of irritation or redness—my lip was completely healed. She still refused and sent me away. Another time, I went to change my nose piercing after six months, and it was fully healed. She said, “Yeah, no, we’re not going to do that.” She was just Refused to serve me two times which made me felt unwelcome and made me uncomfortable, sadly that was me giving this place another chance but same person made it unpleasant. Yeah, I’m not going back there and I don’t recommended :)

Positive experience: I came here a little while back to get my navel pierced and was greeted by a lady with glasses who took me into the back and educated me on anatomy and aftercare for a navel piercing. I was fully aware beforehand that I did not have the anatomy for a navel piercing but rather a floating navel. I was quite intimidated with her presence as she told me I had a very very low chance of healing the piercing and that there was a big chance that my body would reject the piercing. I was told that she could go forward with it but I ended up leaving, feeling scared and intimidated. I came back a week later looking to do a floating navel and was quickly brought into the room by Mat. He wad so great! He kept checking in to make sure I was okay and talked and joked with me through the whole process and I barely felt the needle go in! He is so talented and such a comforting piercer. I recommend him for piercings !!!

Positive experience: I believe they charge $125 minimum for 1hr plus a $30 supply charge fee. So just keep that in mind if you're getting a small tattoo. I got a smile tattoo that took 10min to do..literally two dots and a line, and was charged $150 for it. Other than that it is a great place, clean, friendly and knowledgeable staff. Just remember, it's still business, so if you don't got the money, don't be funny

Fantastic experience: Visited this place on Mother’s Day as a walking customer. The receptionists were in the front desk are absolute sweet girls. I feel bad for not being able to mention their names here because honestly I don’t remember their names now. Experienced my first tattoo experience and my first piercing experience thanks to the front desk staff who encouraged me to do so. I was actually looking for Nezi to get my piercing done after seeing so many positive reviews but Matt was there that day. He didn’t disappoint me at all. He was so professional and explained me aftercare and the piercing process before the piercing was done. Such a friendly artist he is. Also Joe done a small tattoo for myself even though it’s a very small tattoo he was so concerned about it and finished that beautifully the way I wanted. We were having a small conversation while the tattoo process and I didn’t even feel and pain at all What I realized was how professional both my tattoo and piercing artists are. Overall the entire experience was amazing. I love this place and specially their kind and cheerful staff.

Fantastic experience: Got Pierced with NEZI Yesterday. She was so awesome. I was so comfortable. Clean, relax environment and great conversation. This was a re-Piercing. In a very sensitive area it went so smooth and today not even 24 hours later. I don’t even feel my piercing. I’m completely comfortable. Fantastic experience: Absolute delight of a tattoo shop, very easy staff to work with more that delighted to come back and have more done by this shop. The artist SkinArtJ is very friendly I keep going back to get more ink done with her as she is very professional and easy to chat and communicate with, I'd you have a request for a custom tattoo she will sit down and work with you, as well as a change and variation within reason to her already existing designs, she has lots incredible pre made flash pieces to choose from on her Instagram if you arent sure what you'd like to have designed. Well worth the price and repeated business.

Fantastic experience: I have had multiple tattoos and piercings at Dragon FX Kingsway. Can’t recommend them enough. Very friendly staff, highly skilled and qualified and use quality products for both piercings and tattoos. Very clean facility!!! If you need a tattoo or piercing look no further- these folks are great. Joe is a great artist and skilled in so many varieties of tattoos! I’ve had nautical, animals, flowers, and random ones lol. He’s done them all and they always look amazing. In the past with previous employees I’ve had script, celtic, symbols and randoms and many piercings- now or then it’s been a great experience every time. From the front counter staff to the tattoo artists and piercers- everyone makes you feel so welcome and comfortable.

Fantastic experience: After a bad experience at Merle Norman getting my nose pierced, I came here yesterday to seek help with my nose piercing. Unfortunately the piercer wasn’t there yesterday but they booked me in as soon as they could. And the staff were very knowledgeable and helpful. The piercer was very understanding, professional and kind. I will definitely be back in the future if I want to get another piercing. For your piercings you should see Mat, he’s awesome!

Negative experience: Worst experience ever. I came in with a very angry piercing and was in need of a larger ball on the bottom of my tongue piercing. After waiting an hour for the appointment time as a walk in, I was greeted by a very unfriendly female piercer at this location. she looked at the piercing and assured me she would be able help with the issue. After taking me to the back, and inquiring more about the piercing, she began to talk badly towards the original piercer and said she would have to physically remove the piercing to be able to identify the size of ball required to be changed. I also said, if it was too much of a problem to try and change the bottom out, that I was fine to wait until the original piercer was available as i did not want a full removal of the piercing. she explained she needed to remove the piercing to determine the size of ball needed for the bottom. After the most painful removal of my tongue piercing which literally left me in tears, she informed me the bar was not the common one she had expected me to be pierced with and informed me she did not have the proper ball to fit the bar I came in with. She further said she would have to put a larger bar in instead that would stretch the piercing and in turn cause my tongue to swell more and have to downsize every six months again going forward. I was shocked and appalled at this point, because my piercing was now out, and she told me I would have to purchase all new jewelry from their store and pretty much need to start over the healing process. I asked if she could just put the original piercing back in then, but she refused and made me pay a removal fee and left me with no tongue piercing in leaving the shop. I ended up paying for a removal of a piercing i did not even ask for. Not only did I find it very unprofessional for her to comment on a piercers decision to go with a certain jewelry, but her rudeness and arrogance really was the cake topper. I ended up trying to reach out to the admin with the email on their site in hopes that no one else goes through this kind of mistreatment, but it has been left unanswered for over a month now. I am honestly so disappointed with how the piercer handled the situation, and as an induvial with a multitude of other piercings, was horrified at how badly the treatment at the studio was. Unfortunately this place has lost any future business I may have done with them.

Fantastic experience: This was my first time getting tattooed, I chose two mini ones. Everyone there was so nice and it's a great atmosphere! My tattoos were done by a gentleman named Jamie. He was very nice and let me know if it would hurt more and he was very clear on the aftercare instructions. Would definitely go back for more tattoos at this shop!

Negative experience: This tattoo shop is horrible, there's a Filipino guy who works there and he didn't even use clean needles when I had requested a tattoo and this was like since 2021 up until now the place where the tattoo he had put on me is still so bumpy and it's really itchy. I had asked him "aren't you gonna use clean needles?" Then he said " do you want me to give you a tattoo or not because I don't have to it's your choice" so he went and used dirty needles. Just horrible this tattoo shop I had already paid for this tattoo too on top of it before he even gave me a tattoo

Fantastic experience: I got my nose pierced here and it was a great experience! The employees at the front were very kind and the person who pierced me (Nezi Pierce on Facebook) did an amazing job! My piercing has been healing almost effortlessly and they actually followed up on how the healing process was! I was very impressed and delighted by their service and I would definitely go back if I were to get another piercing done :)

Positive experience: My daughter got her ears pierced here for the second time (second hole) and it went well. She was pleased. It is very pricey, but we've had no issues. The staff were friendly enough. They have a policy of only one person in the room, even for minors which made me very hesitant. I probably wouldn't go again for that reason.

Fantastic experience: I did a walk in at 11am on a Monday and was seen immediately. I did call before hand to make sure they were taking walking ins- the person on the phone was very friendly. The piercer Matt helped me pick out a beautiful piece of jewelry for my conch from their wide selection. Matt was very informative, professional and personable. Matt was also extremely transparent with the price of jewelry and piercing. All in all I had a great experiences with DragonFX and my piercer Matt. I would recommend and can’t wait to go back for future piercings!

Fantastic experience: Went for a walk-in nose pericing, and only had to wait about 15 mins! Which was super nice and gave me time to grab a coffee. All the staff were great and genuine (hella cool style too). Mat pierced me and they were awesome, very kindly explained everything and walked me through everything they were doing. Fantastic experience: Came here to get my nostril piercing done, and my sister got something done also. I was pretty anxious but however the piercer Mat really changed that around very fast! Fantastic experience: Ok this is a 2 part review so hear me out: Mat is a fricken awesome piercer. I felt super comfortable and the banter was great. Plus I got a lovely piercing and it was exactly what I was looking for! Excellent experience and will be back for sure. And then I was vibing in the shop (so basically everyone who works here is an absolute gem (front counter girls were LOVELY), so I decided to get a tattoo from J who was kicking around and was available right away for a walk in. What she drew up was exactly what I was looking for - quick and painless. Our session flew by as we had a truly lovely conversation and it felt like tattoo therapyyyyy. Overall, you’d be super happy if you chose to get work done here. Super accommodating friendly staff and great service. Will definitely recommend to friends and will be back! You guys rock.

Fantastic experience: As always - another great experience at DFX! I went and had my double helix from August downsized today & changed the jewelry. Nezi was flawless! Then my daughter wanted a piercing for her 18th birthday & she got her nostril done again. She was so happy & said “Nezi was so nice! Fantastic experience: I went in about 3 weeks ago now for a tattoo. It was my first time here but had many recommendations from friends. I wish I had remembered the name of the front desk person, because she was so amazingly kind and helpful. You can’t ask for a better person handling the front of the shop. I had a memorial piece done by Joe, and it came out better than I had ever imagined. He was very upfront about what he was going to do, and the results are amazing. I’m so happy with my entire experience there, I will definitely be going there for the rest of my tattoo work. Great job!!
