As someone in my 50s, I can tell you it has that old-school vibe I really dig — solid shop energy, no nonsense, just good tattooing. But at the same time, they’re pushing things forward in the industry in a really positive way. It’s a true mix of old and new school. And for my artist, Cody — you won’t regret going to him. He takes the time to really listen to what you want. He’s quick with responses, gives honest feedback, and offers solid advice. You can tell he genuinely cares about what he’s doing and about the piece he’s putting on you. What stood out most to me was his confidence in his lines. There wasn’t a bunch of short, hesitant passes with the machine. He pulled long, clean, confident lines. That made the session quicker and honestly less painful. And look at them — tight, straight where they need to be, perfect curves where they should be, and bold as hell. The color is saturated and held beautifully after full healing. The lines define the piece exactly how they should. The shading has that classic old-school feel, with clean skin breaks that let the tattoo breathe instead of muddying everything up. I highly recommend Riverside and Cody for your next tattoo. And yeah — prices are competitive. Tattoos aren’t cheap anywhere, but I felt like I got a fair price for high-level work.

Experiencia negativa: E was unfriendly and made it difficult to work with. He only slotted me and my sister for 30 minutes when we both wanted 2 small tats each, im talking 3 nickel sized ones. And one the size of 2 qtrs. I also had a small one I wanted re-outlined right quick as well. O e or two mimutes of easy tattooing. But he only gave us a 30 minute time slot and only had time for one tattoo each. One took 2 minutes and one took 8 minutes. Cleaning inbetween and there went our 30 minutes. Two really tiny tats and couldn't do 2 even smaller quicker ones for us like we wanted. Turned us away cuz he had an appointment for 5. Our appt was 430. Should've been a full hour 4 to 5 and we should've been able to get all 4 tats and my little touch up for 200/250 even would have been fine. It was super easy and such small tats. Left feeling less than and taken advantage of as we spent together all total 10 minutes maybe getting inked and couldn't get the outline or the other 2 tiny tats done. And we paid $200 for his 10 actual tattoo minutes. Just rubbed me the wrong way and wasnt a friendly person. I wanna 1 star it but the 2 small tats we did get look good. Just didnt handle his customers right in that situation at all and just took advantage of us.

Jack was assigned to me and he is the most caring person and listen to what I wanted. he was definitely patient! My experience with Phil was great!! He offered a few suggestions, which I took. He's very light-handed and fun to chat with. Experiencia fantástica: Today was an emotional day for me. And when you think of an emotional day you don't think it'll be at a tattoo shop. I was lucky enough to have Alec. I had searched out Riverside tattoo via Google. And it connected me to his Instagram page where I found some of the tattoos that he had done and I liked his style it was exactly what it was looking for. I contacted him via his Instagram and we talked about redoing a tattoo that I already had done previously about 10 years ago. I've been wanting this tattoo for about 10 years so when I got it and it's slowly started to fade and it didn't look right it was very traumatic for me. I went in to get two new pieces done that coincided with this previous tattoo. Alec really listened to what I had to say.he reassured me that the placement was good that the size was good and that he could change anything that I needed to change. Obviously there's pain with tattoos but nothing that was too serious. He got them done probably within about 2 hours. And the last thing he did was go over my old tattoo. And when he was done I almost lost it. It now looks like it should have 10 years ago. Alec you don't know how much this means to me. And I really just want to say thank you. And I know you said I don't seem too excited when I got off the table. But I was just a little overwhelmed but I really do appreciate you, thank you so much. You put a lot of heartache to rest today. There are not enough ways to say thank you. I will be back for my gigantic back tattoo. Lol

I walked in the door about 15 minutes early, Dave immediately greeted me and started on designing my piece, involving me in edits along the way for the perfect result! It took a whopping 15 minutes and he crushed it. I wanted a small outline of my bestest dog, Rocco, and I am O B S E S S E D. Thanks, Dave! Experiencia fantástica: Went to get a memorial tattoo for my brother. I wanted to get a version of one of his tattoo's that also included a quote and an image of him included. I had multiple friends recommend David and he was so helpful and accommodating when it came to scheduling and helping me realize my vision. On the day of, he made space for my support crew to be involved in finalizing placement and in just being present for the process. He was fast, efficient, and did great work! Everyone is so impressed with what he has done and I am so happy with the final product!

Experiencia negativa: Had clavicle tatoo every letter bled into the skin , i am very upset , very noticable because of where it is. Now need to find someone to fix/ cover it or laser tx. Going to be a very expensive fix.

He was extremely quick to get back with me in scheduling my appointment and confirming what exactly I wanted. His artwork is top tier, and his tattooing skills are somehow even better. He worked so quickly and efficiently, and was very kind to us during the process. I felt that he was especially engaged with me during the tattoo, which is impressive since he was focusing on the tattoo at the same time. Great conversationalist. The pricing was also fair and reasonable. I was able to have a nice cup of coffee while waiting, and enjoyed the company of other artists and staff at the same time. I will absolutely be visiting Alec again soon, could not recommend working with him more.

Took me and my husband in as a walk-in on short notice when the one we originally went to told us walk-ins only after 2 and they were completely booked for the day. It’s our anniversary and we wanted to get them today and this was the first time for both of us. We got each other’s heartbeat, so it is very sentimental to us. So glad we went here. If I ever decide to do this again, I’ll definitely go here. David was super patient with me as I have severe anxiety. And he did exactly what we wanted.

The first time I came to riverside was as a walk in, everyone at the shop was busy tattooing, but said they would text a group chat to see if anybody would want to come in to do a walk in. About 30 minutes later Phil was there to help. Getting tattooed by Phil was such a great experience the first time that now I specifically hit him up for my “day trip out of town tattoos”. It was a very calm and pleasing combination of colors and decor and when paired with the inviting and 'laid back' nature of the staff made for smooth process. I might add, on the topic of the aesthetic, the house playlist seemed to be intentionally geared towards that overall calming demeanor with an alt/indie/psychedelia heavy influence. It was a rather enjoyable playlist so props to the dj! Overall I was more than impressed with this shop and will undoubtedly be a returning customer and would gladly recommend to any and all of my peers and anyone looking for some badass ink!

From what I can tell if your looking for American Traditional this is the only shop in Knoxville to go to. All the artists had grate portfolios. I came into the shop as a walk in on Sunday , and was able to make an appointment with David for Monday. David did an amazing job! Made me feel extremely comfortable, has a light hand, and was very professional. 10 out of 10 would recommend and i will definitely be back! Thanks for making a very personal tattoo such a good experience.

Experiencia fantástica: Went in for my 7th tattoo with Nick Moran and felt safe, heard, and comfortable. There’s a reason I keep going back. It is absolutely worth the wait of booking but they also accept walk ins. Clean environment and very talented artists. Knoxville is lucky to have this shop.

Experiencia fantástica: I've never gotten a bad tattoo here, or had anything approaching a bad experience. Mariella is incredible, and I'm hoping I can catch her when her books open later this year for another piece! Joey is also super talented and does great work. The studio is always clean and smells nice, they're LGBT friendly, and the artists are approachable and easy to talk with while they stab you for however long. I haven't gotten any work done from the guys who strictly do trad style, but I do like they're work and have considered getting flash pieces from some of them. Overall a chill place.
