Experiencia positiva: How do you tell a client you don't want to tattoo them without saying it? You quote them $1,000 for a simple tattoo placed on the inner forearm from wrist to elbow. This same request was quoted at other shops for anywhere from $250 to $500. This isn't an attempt to throw anyone under the bus so I won't name the person who quoted that. I only write this to let people know if the quote is too high, maybe the artist doesn't want to do your request. This was my 1st and only experience with Alter Ego so maybe the artist just had a bad day or didn't like my vibe, both are understandable.

She was so kind and caring as this was my first tattoo. I showed her pictures of what I wanted and she designed a phenomenal image. More than I could have hoped for

Experiencia negativa: I stopped by on 6/20/25 to discuss getting my 3rd and 4th year of sobriety tattoo and the artist seemed irritated that I was even there trying to give her an idea of what I was looking for and tried to work out a time. Sadly I left there thinking that I didn't want someone putting ink on me that was wasn't really into doing the piece. Needless to say, they didn't get my business but Purple Heart Tattoo sure did! I hope they drop the ego when it comes to working with customers walking in wanting work done.

Experiencia negativa: Got my septum pierced and while the piercer was extremely nice and made me very comfortable, one of the balls fell out after a couple days. I accepted that because I thought it was my fault for fidgeting with it so much and went back to the shop to see if it was possible to get a replacement. I was told I would have to pay another $50 for the new jewelry after I already paid $80 for the initial piercing, I told them Id come back another day bc I didn’t have the money at that time. Based on other reviews this isnt uncommon Fast forward a couple days later and the other ball fell out which lead me to removing the piercing completely and the hole closing. I ended up just going to another shop and only paid $50 including the piercing job and jewelry + the piercer chose a gauge that was a bit bigger than the one from here and fit my face/nose way better. He also made sure the balls were on there TIGHT and I haven’t had any issue with my new one at all. He was also super nice and quick but informative Wouldn’t completely write off this shop but you can find the service cheaper elsewhere and if you DO go here just ask them to make sure the studs/balls are secured. (the woman at the front desk wasnt exactly “rude” but wasn’t very friendly either I work customer service so I get it but still didnt feel great. When I came back the second time to ask about the replacement she was all smiley and a lot nicer but there were two other workers up there with her and based on the convo and body language I assumed one was her boss so probably explains the attitude switch or maybe she was just having a bad day)

Experiencia fantástica: Jimmy is absolutely amazing! He was able to bring my vision to life for my tarot card! I brought in a few ideas and fonts and he was able to come up with this design! He didn’t get mad or upset if I wanted to tweak or change anything either! As far as the shop goes, everyone is so nice and accommodating! And the place is IMMACULATELY CLEAN! Hands down, best tattoo shop in the area! 10/10

Experiencia fantástica: The people here are very friendly. They would help you connect to the right artist, according to what kind of tattoo you wanna get. The entire shop is very clean and has a very light vibe they have multiple artist you can choose from depending on what kind of tattoo you wanna get. Even their bathroom is squeaky clean. It is a place where you won’t feel intimidated to go to especially if you’re getting your first tattoo! They also offer piercing and accept walk-ins every day both for piercing and tattoo.

Experiencia positiva: I wasn’t sure how to properly star the piercing experience. The actual piercing went very well. My daughter held out till she was 14yo to get her ears pierced being fearful of the pain she may experience. The person who pierced her ears was very nice and did an excellent job in piercing her ears! My daughter didn’t even wince when the earrings were placed. So as far as the actual piercing experience 5 stars. So , the cons. The cost was double the price of some other parlors that had great reviews. The only reason I didn’t go to those places was because the person who does the piercings was not there the times we could come. Looking up typical prices on how much piercings cost they are definitely on the higher end. But my daughter really wanted them that particular day so we decided since we were there, we would go through with getting them pierced. Our choice, owning that. But then 1 week after the piercing the stud fell out. We were able to get them back in. They are suppose to stay in for at least 6weeks we were told. Then 2 weeks from getting them placed , the stud fell out again while my daughter was at school and she couldn’t find it. I was told when we got the earrings placed that one of the reasons the price is what it was, is that they use high quality studs. Well called back to see if they could help us place a new stud in the ear and was told we would have to rebuy a set of the ‘high quality’ studs for $30. After I spent $150 not including tip for the placement of earrings that wouldn’t stay in my daughters ears. Is my frustration coming through this review lol. Anyways, foregoing getting more earrings there and finding another place where we can buy studs that will stay in.

Experiencia fantástica: I have never had a more positive experience getting a tattoo. I saw Basillio for a tattoo enhancement and turned a few very poorly done lines in a beautiful galaxy horse tattoo. I am in complete awe of his work. His customer service was also just as good. He consistently checked on me to make sure I was okay and feeling comfortable, and gave me as many breaks as I needed. His talent with colors is outstanding and i feel that he is perfectly on point when it comes to the depth of the ink. This was truly the least painful tattoo I have ever had and I have several lol. Aside from my artist, the shop itself deserves five stars. The rest of the team was super friendly and welcoming. I also noticed consistent cleaning being done in the shop. Everything is top tier and managed very well. I am excited to go back.

I had the pleasure of getting tattooed by Rae, an extremely talented tattoo apprentice. She re- worked a piece I had previously started by another artist and now I can look at my leg and see beauty again. I feel embarrassed writing this out but she did such an amazing job I still tear up thinking about it. I’m truly grateful to have her be the artist working with me. I’ll add the pictures of her work once it’s complete, it still needs shading because I tapped out lol. I’m a bit of a weenie whenever it comes to pain, so I really appreciate all the patience that she gave me during the session. Update: I couldn’t be happier with my tattoo it’s absolutely beautiful!!! She’s done a few small pieces for me thus far and is designing a bigger quarter sleeve. She has such clean lines and has made suggestions for things I have missed myself because she takes the time to understand what my aesthetic vibe is and is super thorough. She ensures you walk away happy with her work. I really appreciate her attention to detail. Everyone here is super friendly and welcoming. The shop is clean and comfortable and there are so many amazing artists here that no doubt you can find someone specifically for your particular taste. I love how all the artists seem to really enjoy working here. The owner is great as well. I definitely recommend this shop and Yesi and will for sure keep coming back!

Experiencia fantástica: Came in a few months ago after talking to an apprentice and got a pretty good size PPG tattoo. The shop itself is a vibe, very relaxed. Everyone I spoke to were nice. Lexi is my artist and was amazing, very welcoming and all around felt like a safe space! After a couple months of healing and decision making I came back to Lexi of course for her to finish the tattoo (she finished her apprenticeship! ) blew it out the park for what I wanted and achieved exactly what I couldn’t imagine! 5 stars across the board!

When I went back for my actual tattoo I was very nervous because I am an older person. (Over 60) The staff made me feel very comfortable and Allan was so kind and thoughtful. His work is beautiful. Experiencia fantástica: If I could give more stars for the tattoo shop, I would. I have several tattoos from an artist in a different state but wanted something more local. I went shop jumping to get quotes and to feel out which place I felt most comfortable in and as soon as I stepped into Alter Ego, I knew this place was it. Starting at the front desk, they asked me to look through the artists portfolios and I chose Yesi as she seemed to suit the style of I wanted best. She took the time with me to actually print out what I wanted and to place it so I could visualize my idea. I loved that she put in so much effort just from a walk in inquiry. I booked my appointment for today, and I have to say, I am SOOO happy I went with Yesi. Extremely detail oriented, so welcoming, and overall an awesome artist. I also got to meet the owner who was really cool and helped Yesi make sure my tattoos were completely even. Other arists, Yesi, and the owner all pulled out a laser level to be sure placement would be absolutely perfect (which it was). They went above and beyond to make sure everything was right for me. I am overall so pleased with my experience from Alter Ego. I absolutely will be returning for my next piece. Yesi is hands down the best artist I’ve ever had for any of my pieces! I also want to note it was very clean and sanitary and met every expectation I had! Thank you Yesi and team at Alter Ego!

Experiencia fantástica: Where I have gone two times and Jamie is great. He’s honest which I think is really important with something as permanent as a tattoo. I’m a novice with only two tattoos and I was expecting a lot of pain. I was pleasantly surprised when it was barely uncomfortable at most.

Experiencia positiva: I got my septum pierced by Dawn a little over 5 months ago (may) and I'm thinking about taking it out. she was very nice and explained the whole process, even explained to me that she wouldn't redo the piercing or remove it if it came out crooked and I agreed. well, it came out pretty crooked and has gotten worse (that could be on me or just my body being annoying). I've planned on stretching my septum since way before even getting it done but with how crooked it is that's not an option for me anymore. like I said, she told me that there was a possibility of it coming out crooked and told me she wouldn't redo it and I agreed anyways so it's partially on me. update: it's been 7 months since i was pierced and I just lost a ball last night. it still has not healed and I'm not sure if it's a me problem anymore or if it's because of the way it's pierced. I've decided that it's not worth trying to save at this point, I've been embarrassed of how obviously crooked it is for a while so I'm taking this as a sign to let it go.

Experiencia fantástica: We took our 7-year-old to a popular girls' "retail" store to get her ears pierced 11 weeks ago. We've had constant issues since, including infections, discomfort, bleeding, crusting, etc. I'm left with an unhappy kid who was guaranteed to be able to change her piercing after 3-6 weeks. After researching, I discovered I should have never let anyone pierce her ears with a piercing gun. I needed a professional. I located Alter Ego Tattoo online, read the reviews, and felt confident this was the place! We left Sevierville and headed to KnoxVegas. I left my husband and daughter in the car so I could go inside and check the vibe, and cleanliness and see if this was somewhere I felt comfortable taking my child. I walked in and was greeted by smiling faces; the vibe was top-notch, the atmosphere was chill, and the place was cleaner than a dang dentist's office! We met our man, Ricky Angell, who is now 100% recommended by our family. He was informative, kind, detailed, and gentle with my child. He got down on her level and explained what he would do and how he could help. I could immediately see her fear subside. Ricky replaced the original earrings with implant-grade titanium and professional-quality flatback earrings. Ricky removed everything from individual sterile packaging while wearing a new pair of sterile gloves, and the overall experience for my 7-year-old was rated "10 out of 10"-her words and mine. Ricky, thank you for being gentle, loving, informative, kind, and caring with our girl! We will now recommend this business and Ricky to our family and friends

Experiencia fantástica: Let me start by saying I am a Tattoo Salon Virgin. I took my 17 year old daughter in to get her nose pierced as a surprise graduation gift. BTW, she was ecstatic and a little nervous to say the least. Dawn called my daughters name and we both went back to take care of the task at hand. Well let me tell you right now, Dawn was freaking amazing!! She calmed both of our nerves and was so knowledgeable about what she does. We both fell in love with this lady because she was outstanding. I'm in my late 50's and I loved the whole vibe of the shop. Everyone there was so friendly and now me and my son are going back in the near future to get a special tattoo in memory of my parents. Now to get my nerve up to do it will be the next stop!

Experiencia fantástica: If you’re looking for a piercer, Ricky and Dawn will 100% do it right! Been here 3 times now for piercings, all great experiences. They are walk in only, so might be a wait but they check you in quick and easy at the front. Dawn was my piercer on 2 occasions, she’s very welcoming and knowledgeable in her work. You can tell she truly cares about her clients and their piercing experience! When I went back to have my helix downsized, the ladies at the front desk helped me pick out a nice gold piece and I went ahead and had my third lobe done too. They use threadless implant grade titanium btw. She also consulted on existing piercings from a different shop for me that unfortunately turned out to be rejecting. Ricky did my nostril, he was super friendly and helped ease my nervousness beforehand by walking me through the steps. He’s definitely highly experienced and trustworthy in all regards to piercings.

I let her know I can get dizzy and how we might best avoid it and she was able to keep me steady the whole time. We made a plan and the follow through was fantastic. Experiencia positiva: Update: I spoke with the owner and we came to an agreement that I am happy with. I plan to go to Dawn to fix the original piercing. I would recommend this shop, but call ahead and check who is working. I originally went here because of Dawn. I even called ahead to ask when she typically works. When I got there I paid for the two piercings and was handed paperwork. This was when I found out it wasn’t Dawn doing the piercings but someone new. This person wasn’t on the website and I probably should have left but I already paid and was excited for new piercings. The first piercing went fine but on the second one the placement was wrong so the piercer “adjusted” it and said it was fine. About a week later I felt like it wasn’t healing the way it should so I went back and talked to Dawn. She looked at it and said it was placed wrong and wouldn't heal, so she suggested I take out the jewelry and then redo it later. I loved talking to Dawn as she was respectful and apologetic even though she didn’t do the original piercing but I would advise against letting anyone else here pierce you.

Experiencia fantástica: I went to Alter Ego for my first tattoo. I had the pleasure of working with Kaitlynn. She listened to what I had in mind and made adjustments to fit the placement. She was very welcoming and helpful. She took the time to explain what I needed to do to take care of my tattoo properly. I scheduled my next session with her that day and can’t wait to get back. As for the shop, everyone I encountered that day was awesome. I had several employees chat with me and give me advice on aftercare. The shop was very clean, and the employees made me feel welcome. Amazing shop and will recommend them to everyone.

Experiencia fantástica: I've lived in the area for a long time but I only started getting tattoos about a year ago. And honestly I'm truly surprised this place isn't talked about more. The website is misleading and isn't super informative. I was looking to get extra holes added to my ears and possibly look into booking a tattoo appointment. I did a walk in, since I couldn't figure out how to make an appointment online, (turns out they only due bookings in person, which is awesome). I walked in a they were surprisingly busy, but it was fine I was expecting to wait for walk ins, while I was waiting I asked about possibly getting some tattoos and the man at the front brought over one of the artists. I believe her name was Victoria. She was so fantastic. She listened so well and was very informative and instructive both before and after. I got two small pieces. One on my hip and one on my sternum. Both semi awkward places for such an open floor plan space. But she was so kind and lovely about the whole thing. She is by from the most professional acting artistic I've worked with. She was so light handed and gentle. She will definitely be my go to from now on. Ricky did my ear pericings and he was just as professional. We only did my second holes but I'm interested in my thrids and he was able to show me how they would look on my ears. He was great. The whole experience was absolutely painless. I highly highly recommend this shop to everyone now. Will be back 100%

Experiencia fantástica: dawn is awesome!! i first found alter ego back in october of 2021 looking to get my septum pierced, and i couldn’t be happier. i was so lucky to find such a great shop when (at the time) i was very clueless and did barely any research hahaha… anyways out of my 8 piercings dawn has done 6 of them wonderfully. as a nervous person she makes me feel so welcomed and comfortable in her room making sure i feel comfortable with the placement of the markings she’s done before going through with the piercing process. hyping me up after it’s done. i love it!! 10/10 experience every time. would and have recommend her to people in my life looking to get some body jewelry.

Experiencia fantástica: It was my fault for not paying attention to the time, but I called 10 minutes before closing about a nose piercing. I was 8 minutes away and they stayed open so I could get this done. This being my first piercing (minus basic ear lobes everyone gets), I knew very little about after care. (Tattoo after care is different). The gentleman explained the do's and don'ts. I bought the H2Ocean piercing aftercare spray they sell based on his reccomendation again. If I'm ever back in the area, I'd love to come back, but for a tattoo. Huge thanks to everyone for making my first (real) experience with a piercing awesome!! Highly recommended.

And still that doesn't do her enough justice. Simply exceptional. I looked into several piercers in the area and read many reviews, which praised her work. And they were correct! I looked at her portfolio, which included explanations of bad piercings and how they could be fixed. This highlights her knowledge of her craft. If you are thinking of or getting a piercing (especially a septum), Dawn is the piercer you should choose. She walked me through the process and explained all of the aspects of getting a piercing. She made sure that I was comfortable. I cannot even say that the worst part was the tongs, because even that was nothing. I loved my experience with her! Thank you so much, Dawn! Oh, and she said that I had great anatomy of the nose, which made me feel super duper special! It's the little things, really.

The lady at the front desk was very friendly and even made small talk to make me feel at home while my artist set up his station. I got tattooed by Daniel and it was a great experience. I have around 20ish tattoos first one done by Daniel and I will for sure be back to see him for more probably gonna talk about getting a sleeve from him.

Experiencia negativa: MY daughter went in for a cartilage jewelry since she had lost one. She asked the front desk if they think it would fit her cartilage-she was advised it would. Well it didn't and after bringing up my concerns to the manager-he stuck with the no return or exchange policy. What bothered me is he stated there were Two employees who had the same story that they told my daughter to come back when the piercers are there. My daughter is trustworthy and doesn't even care about the $30 since its my money lol so no reason to lie-she stated only one employee was there. How do they even remember her? so their policies are more important than the customer experience. My advice is not to buy jewelry there unless you are positive it will fit right-don't take their word unless they are the piercing artists. What happened to the customer is always right? I am in service industry and i would've state the policy but made an exception or came up with a compromise-or said i am sorry if there was miscommunication...NOT A FAN

Experiencia negativa: For anyone looking for an experienced professional’s advice/opinion/collaboration, you won’t get that here. You’ll notice a lot of photos from this place are one or two sessions, which I failed to pay attention to when I sought out Hilde Hernandez, who’s work is good, but is suffered by his poor attitude and lack of patience. There was zero collaboration from him. Any time I asked his opinion, he basically shrugged his shoulders. Very bad attitude and rushed the work. I observed him getting annoyed at what a new customer asked him to do and he turned them away. I observed this from another tattooist at this location, but it was more dramatic and the whole shop watched. Very unprofessional and disappointing. I’ll have to go elsewhere to get my tattoo touched up, because he didn’t have the patience or care to finish the details. If you know exactly what you want and want it done fast, then this may be the place for you, as long as it doesn’t annoy the person you’re asking….

She is well informed and reassured me about placement particularly with the septum. Price is a little on the higher end but it is 100% worth it because it is quality service.
