Experiencia fantástica: Got my ears pierced here. It was my first piercing but they were very helpful. They made everything very easy to understand and the procedure was easy. Be aware that they don't use any numbing agents, but at least for standard earlobe piercings, the pain was not bad at all.

Kind, professional and experienced she has a calm presence that settled my obvious nerves coming in. This location has really cool vibes and the room where the piercings are done are clean and sterile, similar to a doctor's office which also helped me feel at ease. I highly recommend going here- this is an experience that I will always remember, thank you!

I woukd recommend Daryl. I worked with him but didnt get tattooed but he had some great ideas and great art! Kali I would recommend for afab genital piercings because she's really through about anatomy and making sure you're comfortable, safe, and everything is hygienic. Experiencia negativa: I had a consult with Levi for a half sleeve leg tattoo. I was told, as a grown man with a pre-existing arm sleeve, that he would not do a half sleeve on the calf because “everyone always ends up wanting a whole sleeve” and that doing an entire sleeve from the bottom up is difficult. I found it EXTREMELY absurd that another man felt comfortable telling me what I will want to tattoo on my body (not only in the present but in the future). It was a complete waste of my time and I found his behavior extremely unprofessional. He tried to talk me into various other options despite being extremely clear what I was looking for. Would recommend going anywhere else for a tattoo.

Experiencia fantástica: My mother in law got her second ear piercings here and they did a great job!

Experiencia negativa: DO NOT GET PIERCINGS HERE!! I had three cartilage and one nose piercing done here, and both times requested instructions for aftercare. For the nose ring the aftercare instructions were verbal and as follows, "No saline spray or salt wash necessary, all you have to do is rinse it under the water for 5 minutes while you shower". I followed the given instructions, or lack there of, for 4 months until it got infected, created scar tissue, and I removed it to let it heal. For the cartilage piercings, similar instructions were provided; thankfully based on my first encounter I sought instructions via "Youtube", and prevented infection and mass scar tissue build up to let the piercings properly heal. In my opinion, the piercers who provided service to me were either poorly educated, or lacked the care to provide thorough instructions upon request. With new piercings done in a more professional setting, I've determined "Slave to the Needle" is not the place to get piercings.

Experiencia fantástica: Danny “One Shot” Chan was booked solid, but they snuck me in for a Saturday session and he brought my drawing to life. Nailed it!

Experiencia negativa: Don’t come here for piercings (they don’t know what they are doing). I showed up 15 minutes early however, there are literally only 5 parking spots (which were all taken) so I had to park very far away which inevitably made me late. When I did arrive the piercer was very rude to me and my boyfriend. Once she did pierce me it was crooked (which felt purposeful due to how upset and rude she was). You’re better off going to Deep Roots! They have never done me dirty like this place did.

Experiencia positiva: Missed connections. Came in on a "Walk-in" Wednesday after confirming attendance the night before. He wasn't there. Waited half an hour, no show. I had my tat's designs ready and the money. Three peeps came in after 25 minutes and another worker who just showed up helped them first. Can't give below three stars because it's such a beautiful parlor/studio. I know they "would have done" good work, but 30 minutes waiting and an empty parlor is my limit. So I went off to Ying Tattoo in Lake City and got my first tattoo on the spot, some 10 minutes later.

Experiencia negativa: Went to this location recently to get a piercing replaced. Showed up 4 mins late due to Seattle Traffic. I had called to inform them I would be late and nobody answered. When I got there the piercer stated I was late and it was very inconsiderate. I explained what happened and she just rolled her eyes. My appointed only took 5-10 mins and didn’t go over the allotted time. Very rude experience. I have been coming here for years and recommended it to everyone who wanted a piercing. After this experience and the high prices, I will not be coming back.

Experiencia fantástica: I've had a tattoo design that was turned down by many shops for being to difficult. Not only did Daryl at slave to the needle step up, he knocked it out of the park! We still have many hours of work to go, but after seeing the results of the first several hours. I fully recommend this shop to anyone looking for that perfect tattoo.

Experiencia fantástica: Went in to get retainers for my body jewelry for a medical scan. I made an appointment ahead of time, they got me in a room within 5 minutes and all finished within another 5! The shop was clean and somewhat busy on a Saturday afternoon, they also had an awesome selection of unique jewelry. I believe my piercers name was Kali and was knowledgeable, professional and kind! I appreciated the smooth process for something I wasn’t really looking forward to having to do.

Experiencia positiva: Service was solid, but pricing felt steep and inflexible. I came in to assess a recently “closed” ear lobe—turns out it was open. Still, I had to buy a $30 stud I didn’t want or need just to proceed, even though I had brought my own jewelry. The stud they provided was difficult to remove when I got home, possibly broke, and the backing flew off immediately. I later found my own earrings worked just fine. A $50 mistake overall. I understand shops need to make money, but the lack of flexibility left a sour taste. I’ll likely look elsewhere for my next two piercings. This review shouldn't reflect negatively on my piercer Gray, they were great - I suspect it is the shop's policies that forced this situation.

Experiencia fantástica: Got a tattoo done by Danny Chan, super cool guy. The environment is pretty sweet and everyone there is extremely talented. Danny quoted 2.5-3 hours and was done within 2.5 hour on the dot. Very satisfied and will definitely be returning.

If this is your first piercing, I can't recommend Slave to the Needle more than 100%- just do it! Very clear on healing instructions and they kept my body anatomy in mind- helping me make an informed decision on placement. I have gotten my ears, septum, and snake bites done here all at 14G and they were nearly painless.

Experiencia fantástica: I had a great experience getting 4g lobe piercings from Josh. He was courteous and professional. He told me what he was doing the entire time and made sure I was happy with each step. I had to come in a few days later when one of them was swelling up and beginning to embed itself (this was my fault entirely - I am a side sleeper and kept putting pressure on it) so they cleaned the piercing and loosened the stud free of charge. Now it's in great shape and on the road to healing well.

Experiencia negativa: I went to Justin to get a mandala tattoo. I showed him the picture. My tattoo is way too big and looks nothing like the picture I showed him. It’s distorted because I think he just enlarged my picture. I told him that I did not want to touch or cover my birthmark and it does. The tattoo in the picture was obviously Dot work. He did not do Dot work, he said shading. Nice guy but I feel like he just did what he felt he wanted to do and maybe he didn’t know how to do dot work. I’m in the process of getting the entire thing removed. It’s $4000. I want refund for the tattoo.

Experiencia negativa: I got my doubles and thirds pierced here and the piercer told me I could get pierced with hoops which at the time I didn’t think anything of it! I did question him but he said it’s fine! A week or 2 later my ears got super infected… didn’t know what they were talking about!

The tattooers are so professional and the piercers are VERY thorough. I've been tattooed by Justin Pino, Danny Chan and Darryl Duncan and pierced by Josh Noble and Gray Darling but everyone here is super amazing!

Experiencia negativa: I want to say I had a positive experience at Slave to the Needle, but unfortunately I can’t. I met with Daniel about a half sleeve project a couple of times, and unfortunately our meetings didn’t go as I thought they would. I think that Daniel is an incredible artist, don’t get me wrong- I admire his work and I truly believe he is talented at what he does. However, when I met with him, he did not seem very interested in me or the project. There weren’t many pleasantries. I was excited to meet him and build a good relationship with him as my future artist, but he wasn’t as kind or welcoming as I thought he would be. He seemed kind of stand offish and distant, and he didn’t smile much. As for the art he made for me, I did like it very much. One thing that I found odd, however, was that he presented me a sketch on paper, not any sort of digital render so that I could clearly see what was to be put on my body forever. I just had to trust him that I would like how the sketch would look finalized on me. I didn’t even get to look at the sketch for that long either, only a couple of minutes. I felt like that wasn’t reasonable seeing as though like I said, it would be on my body for the rest of my life. I know that some tattoo artists aren’t comfortable with their clients taking photos of their work, and I completely understand that. I did want to ask Daniel if I could take a photo in the off chance he was okay with it, and he was not. That’s okay, but the way in which he told me didn’t seem very professional to me. When I asked him, he told me “oh no, this is MINE until you pay me”. I think this was the thing that really made me decide not to go forward with our project. He’s a great artist, but the environment felt a little hostile and we just didn’t vibe. I wish things could have gone better, but it was for the better that I didn’t work with him. Another note is that I’m pretty sure I heard him talking bad about another one of his clients (?) with someone working at the front desk, ridiculing the individual in question for wanting to get a project that was too small (?). It seemed very unprofessional, especially because I could hear it while I was waiting for a consult with him. As for the staff, that’s where I do have to give credit. They were always very kind and professional, responding in a timely manner, and were very welcoming. All in all, I wish things could have gone better so that I could’ve gotten the tattoo, but ultimately I did not feel comfortable giving the shop my business.

Experiencia negativa: I came here to get my double lobes pierced. Even though I gave approval on the placement somehow they were not evenly pierced. I took one out so I could get it repierced later. This morning the piercing I kept in was really painful and turns out a layer of skin formed over the backing. When I got pierced I asked my piercer if the jewelry was too small and if my skin will try to heal over it. The piercer said I had no worries. Now I have to spend MORE money to get pierced again and get new jewelry for it. Thank you so much!

Experiencia negativa: Please do not get a piercing here. Ill keep it short. Basically my piercer 1. didn't change his gloves when leaving the room , re-entering and giving me my piercing (I should have absolutely said something) 2. he put the wrong size jewelry in the system so I had to go there to figure it out and get an extra ball 3. They wouldn't let me try the jewelry in the store and when I tried putting it in, the threading was stripped so I had to go back to the store a third time. He also put them in crooked and the one he did by hand (with the dirty glove got infected). I asked him to use a piercing gun on the second and that one i still have and is fine. Was not worth it one bit.

Experiencia fantástica: Such a good experience with Chris yesterday! The previous appointment was running over so I ended up waiting a bit, but Chris was very intentional and didn’t rush. He took his time to chat and make me feel comfortable and relaxed- he’s also super funny and has some great stories. I got my septum done and he was great about setting expectations about the piercing and healing process. The piercing itself was virtually pain free. I’ve been to several different piercers over the years, but this was by far the best experience I’ve had. I’d definitely return for all my future piercing needs and would highly recommend Chris to anyone looking for a piercing.

Experiencia negativa: BEWARE. Asked me to leave the store after Chris the jerk was telling me "I told you so, it was an 18 gauge, this is why we want to pierce it ourselves when customers don't know any better" when in reality, after calling my old piercer, it was actually a 20. Almost insisted on selling me a wrong fit for my piercing. When I complained about the attitude, they tried to pin it on me and kick me out the store because I had said beforehand that I have never been to a tattoo shop where you needed an appointment to purchase a piercing. I have never in my life been asked to leave a business, and this is by far the absolute worst customer service I have ever received. Will never be back and will tell all of my friends to avoid at all costs.

Josh also kept totally cool when I got super nervous right before the pierce LOL but it was fast and easy, and the piercing looks literally perfect. I highly recommend this shop for piercings!

The couple tattoos I’ve gotten from this place, in retrospect, are some of the ones I’m least happiest with. Do your research and find a non-milquetoast artist that has a unique style, which are not to be found here.

Experiencia fantástica: Slave to the Needle is a clean and professional establishment. Daniel #bloodminer is my tattoo artist. I highly recommend Daniel and this shop. His honest and clear approach to his art refreshing. He has taken my ideas and guided me through the entire sleeve process. He is a master of his craft and myself and my family couldn't imagine being tattooed by anyone else.

Experiencia fantástica: Second Review: Got periced by Josh today and he was so nice and gentle about my potential to pass out this is definitely my go to piercing place. (Got my Daith pierced) 1/2024 I got a very spur of the moment nostril piercing from Chris and it was great! Very calm environment you could tell he has amazing skill because he went through the inside of my nose to go through the thinner part of my cartilage. Super knowledgeable and kind! Will definitely be back! 4/2023

Experiencia negativa: I made an appt for my husbands birthday to get a tattoo of our dog’s ears. My husband at been tattoo’d by someone else here before and had a great experience, and booking the slot and submitting example photos was easy. This bad review is not about the shop, but about the specific artist. Went in, met with Danny, saw the stencil. You could tell it was just a digital outline of the photo of our dog we submitted, totally fine, but we described what he didn’t want on it, said we just wanted an outline of the ears in the photo (not the nose) and some shading around the edges to give it some dimension so it wasn’t just a line. Danny gave the impression that he got it, went to town on my husbands arm, and he butchered the hell out of it. We didn’t want to make a scene but he was almost in tears with how bad it looked and we couldn’t wait to get out of there. There is just black blob on his arm, nothing like the examples we sent, nothing like we described. Danny just did what he wanted. This guy shouldn’t have a job. DO NOT GO TO DANNY. It’s been one day and we’re already looking at getting it removed, and will have to spend hundreds more to do so.

Experiencia fantástica: The storefront is classic and has so much to look at. The selection of jewelry was broad, though I expected there to be more options for my specific piercing once it's healed. I had an advance appointment with my friend and the experience was quick (but not rushed), professional, and my piercer Kali was super patient and knowledgeable and did prompt follow up when I had questions.

Everyone was so nice and I felt super comfortable in the space, unlike some tattoo and piercing shops where you feel like you are just bugging the people who work there. I had a septum piercing booked with Josh and unfortunately due to my anatomy, my septum couldn't be done. Josh communicated his concerns and recommended not getting it. He was super apologetic and offered a different piercing instead. He was also very understanding when I wasn't sure of what other piercing I would have wanted and decided to opt out for now. Thanks guys! I appreciate the experience none the less.

Stopped, didn't know about appointments only so walked in made same day appointment with piercer for hubby. He had such a great experience that I'm going brave it myself soon.

Experiencia negativa: Came here for the first time to look at jewelry as my nose piercing has been catching on clothing and bothering me, was turned away because I needed an appointment. Never needed to do that in any other piercing shops before. Came back with an appointment. Their jewelry selection is very small and not very diverse. Upon stating I didn't love anything there, got no verbal offerings or feedback. In other shops I was offered options of ordering from their vendors or catalogs, or recommendations where to go in the area to find what I was looking for. Here there was nothing, just a look. When I suggested to shorten my post, piercer walked me back to their room, looked up my nose for a couple of moments, and stated it looked fine and I didn't need it shortened. Nothing else was offered, like say "Hey, come back with something you like and we'd be happy to put it in for you." I was walked to the front where I paid $10. I left a) not finding any jewelry I liked, b) not changing the post, c) with exactly the same problem I came in with - my piercing snagging on things and bothering me. No help was offered, no solutions presented, and it felt like I was just a nuisance to the piercer rather than a customer who needed help. I will not be coming back or recommending this place to anyone else.

Experiencia negativa: I am frankly sad and disappointed that I'm writing this review. I had done a lot of research looking for someone who did Japanese koi and scheduled a consultation with Aaron two years ago. We spoke and agreed on 15 hours for the piece and I paid my deposit and got on the incredibly long wait list. I have been excited for two years for today to arrive. I arrived at my scheduled time and before I was allowed to sign the waiver he wanted to show me the drawing we were going to do. (Foreshadowing?) Be brings me the drawing and it's lovely, almost exactly what I wanted. I had been considering different flowers and articulated such. Saying can you please change the x flower to y? He then immediately got accusatory and said that we had agreed to it in our consult and that if I wanted changes I should have told him before showing up. Refusing to rework it. After all, he had done work on this art piece. I also commented that it was a bit big and that I'd like it higher on my leg. It devolved quickly that he'd give me a refund and that I needed to find an artist that would make a smaller piece (indicating that my tattoo isn't worth his brilliance) People, I was looking for a thigh piece, it is going to be about a foot long. I felt attacked, berated and insulted. I decided that if we had such a strong difference of opinion that I would just go. I am still bewildered at what happened but am thrilled that I didn't spend 15 hours being in a chair with him. Woof.

Experiencia positiva: Got my eye brow pierced here many many years ago. It was a good experience but my suggestion to the buisness would be update your voice-mail. I called and it said you were open daily till 9pm. I needed to buy new jewlery because mine came out in the shower, but when I got there the sign on the door said everything including jewlery sales is by appointment only.

Experiencia fantástica: GREAT place to get pierced!! Clean and professional, everyone made me feel welcomed and comfortable. I got my septum and my conch in one appointment, and while my pain tolerance for the septum wasn't the highest, it has healed up beautifully and I've had no issues with either piercing. I will definitely be back for more!!

Experiencia fantástica: 2 hrs after piercing and it’s feels only the slightest bit irritated (as expected) but it’s not even red! Josh did an awesome job, it was barely more than a pinch, I honestly was shocked at how easy it was. Thanks for the great piercing.

These folks know what they're doing, from placing the jewelry on your body in a way that's aesthetically pleasing to helping you determine the right jewelry and size gauge. I have not once doubted their skills in body modification, and I will be referring everyone I know to get work done by this shop.

The staff is friendly, the artists are talented, and the vibe feels right. This most recent visit was picking up an earring at the Ballard location on fully-booked Sunday. The selection of jewelry options (both for starter jewelry while healing and for healed piercings) is fantastic and they have some really beautiful pieces in an enormous range of sizes, styles, and materials. I was able to get a piercing appointment within just a few days of when I initially called and was greeted on time and led through the entire process with multiple opportunities to ask questions. Please consider Slave to the Needle for your next body mod!

The studio has the best decor and art I've seen after having 18 piercings elsewhere. Clean and sanitary care was taken throughout. The way he talked me through the process and after care made me so much more comfortable with what was going to happen. They've gained a loyal customer, definitely worth the trip to Seattle.

Experiencia fantástica: I got my septum piercing done in April at Slave to the Needle (which my piercer Chris made such an amazing and comfortable appointment) but I'm writing this review based on today's experience. I naively showed up to buy a new septum clicker without an appointment, and the compassion i received went beyond just a pleasurable customer service experience. Some context is that in that last few months I've been experiencing critical health issues that have left me newly disabled. I was instructed that my beautiful septum ring would have to come out for several upcoming tests/procedures i had to do. I had just crossed the 6month mark and was terrified of taking my piercing out without a spacer because i had no clue how long i would need to go without my septum ring. I had 24hrs to find a spacer and after seeing that Slave to the Needle had to close early that specific day, i ended up at another jewelry shop. I waited two hours to get my ring out at this other shop and the whole time the piercer was telling me i didn't need a spacer and that i was acting overly cautious and just completely disregarded my individual medical needs. Fast forward to today. I had been wanting to get a septum clicker so that i can take my piercing in and out easier for procedures, and i knew i wanted to go back to Slave to the Needle. It's a lot of work for me to leave the house these days, so even though I had been wanting to get this task done for weeks, health and exhaustion always prevented it. So when i showed up today and saw a note on their door that jewelry shopping required an appointment, my heart sank and i was ready to turn around. My partner encouraged me to just go in and check, and by sheer luck they had the time to accommodate me in between things even though it was totally on me for not looking up the policy beforehand. As i said, I'm new to being disabled. I'm still trying to learn how to move around the world and often get met with so much impatience. We had to go up the tiniest set of stairs to get to the jewelery cases, but there was no railing and i was struggling. All of a sudden as i was starting to feel so embarrassed and like all eyes were on me, the employee helping me just held his arm out for support to help me up. I have literally never had a stranger do that for me. We talked about cane swords and cool woodworking walking sticks - he just made me feel so comfortable. He didn't try to ignore the obvious fact that i was disabled, but he also didn't give me "special treatment." He just treated me like an actual human. I honestly can't believe how great of an experience it was, especially for being a walk in that was smooshed in between appointments. I didn't feel rushed, yet i was in and out of there so efficiently. I'm sure we were a massive inconvenience but the whole staff acted like it was no issue. I am honestly grinning from ear to ear wearing my new clicker and writing this review. This was a customer service interaction I'll always remember. Slave to the Needle deserves all of the praise they get and more.

She was super chill and professional, I loved that she walked me through the whole process and I was glad to see how sterile the whole place is! There was hardly any pain involved with my piercing and I am just over a week into my healing process and it has been 10/10.

Experiencia negativa: If you would like a mechanic-type feel for your tattoo experience, this is your spot. No offense to mechanics, but the condescension and lack of care is palpable. They seem to do enough business that no single customer is important. There are too many quality tattoo shops/artists in Seattle to waste your time at Slave.

Experiencia fantástica: Went in today with my partner for a simple paw line memorial tattoo for our cat. Tako was our artist and was a breeze to work with! He took both the imprint of her paw and a sketch done from it and converted it into a nice solid outline. Worked quickly and gently. The final result is very clean and beautiful.

Experiencia fantástica: Had both of my nostrils pierced a couple of weeks back and was very pleased with the service and professionalism of the piercer. (I believe his name was Justin.) I was able to make a last minute appt, which is great. Loving the placement and quality opal jewelry that I purchased at my appointment.
