Positive experience: More hype than it’s worth. Prices were inflated and maybe that’s cause it’s under a larger brand. The staff was fine but quiet and not super friendly. Basically just checking in to do a job and clock out. It was an odd experience compared to every other tattoo shop I’ve ever been to. Not bad, just fine.

Ended up sitting down with Chuck for a free consultation and I had a great experience, we came up with the perfect design, and he speedily set me up with an appointment. Negative experience: Does a good business need to ask every customer that comes in for a 5-star review? Nope. Piercer was friendly, consent-informed, but not very professional and handled my situation very poorly. I came in looking for help reinserting my nipple jewelry I’d had for 5 years, which started to close after a brief ~2 hour removal for a medical procedure. The piercer started tapering my nipples without explaining what that meant/what to expect. All I was told about it was “It’s gonna suck.” I did not understand until after several minutes of pain that the intention was to gradually stretch the site open, which eventually caused bleeding. I was told well after the process had started that “it’s important to communicate when it hurts,” which should have been explained before beginning. I wrongly assumed this would be a quick pain, much like the initial piercing. We were unable to reinsert the jewelry, even after a full taper of the same gauge, and the piercer did not understand why. I believe the gauge of the taper would need to be bigger than the jewelry, like how a piercing needle should be slightly bigger than the jewelry (this is how mine were initially done). I immediately called a place that specializes in piercings only and they said they would never taper/stretch the nipple, just re-pierce. This makes sense because the pain of the taper was just as much if not greater than the pain of the initial piercing, but the taper pain was drawn out at a much longer duration. I’ll be getting them re-pierced elsewhere. If you just want simple cartilage piercings I’m sure Cleopatra is a fine place, but I would go somewhere else for anything that should be anatomically-informed. I just wish they had been more professional and informed on handling my issue, and that they had properly explained the tapering process first, because I don’t think I would have consented to it. Update: went somewhere else 2 days later and they were able to quickly taper the jewelry back in, all in one quick motion, quick brief pain.

Fantastic experience: As a special way to celebrate my late birthday, I decided to treat myself to getting my nipples pierced. Piper, if I remember correctly, was incredibly sweet and approachable while she was doing the piercing, making the whole experience really comfortable and sprinkled with some laughs. It genuinely felt like a judgment-free zone, especially since I was sharing such a personal moment with someone new. The process was quick, and the price ($100+ small tax) was reasonable. Plus, I just walked in without needing an appointment. I’m currently on my third or fourth day of healing and I haven’t had any problems and they don’t hurt at all. I’m definitely looking forward to coming back to start my tattoo journey someday.

Positive experience: I got my first tattoo here at the Raleigh location. I wanted a fine line tattoo of my grandmothers handwriting and a flower on my rib. I was pleasantly surprised how easy and painless it was. Not to mention how quickly he was done tattooing, with great quality and a light hand, it is perfect.

Fantastic experience: I’ve got to say this is only my second tattoo shop I’ve been too and I will NOT be going anywhere but here from now on. The people are incredible. The atmosphere is extraordinary. Everyone’s very clean and to the point, they work with you on anything you need and cater to you and whoever is with you. This is absolutely going to be my go-to place from now on. It is pricey but what tattoo isn’t. especially since your paying for quality work, it makes up for the price for sure. There is someone here for whatever type of tattoo style you’re wanting.

Negative experience: Terrible experience showed up on time for my consultation from over an hour away waited over and hour and a half to not even talk about the tattoo while you have a employe-walking out from the bathroom washing his hair lol pathetic business practice very unprofessional!! A full consultation on average is 15-40 minutes I sat in a chair for double that to still not receive a consultation while having to pay for parking!!!

Fantastic experience: This place literally saved my nostril and septum piercing, I went to a previous terrible piercer in Florida, who was rough and put the wrong jewelry in my nose. It was way too small because she didn’t account for swelling at all, so I needed it replaced because it was starting to cause pain and discomfort. The piercer at Cleopatra was very attentive and gentle, the whole experience was very pleasant. Compared to the pain I previously experienced in Florida, it was like an angel working on my nose. And she gave me additional advice on how to PROPERLY take care of my new piercings. I would 100% recommend coming here, I especially can’t wait to come back for more piercings.

Fantastic experience: Overall I absolutely loved the experience. Vanessa and Javier were absolutely amazing and did great work. Vanessa was patient with me helping to figure out what was feasible and what they would be able to do for me. The only thing I want to say is that it kinda took me off guard during the consultation when they were finding images straight off Pinterest and using that to help make my stencil. This isn't necessarily a bad thing. It allows you to get a tattoo same day and the artists are able to perfectly recreate the stencils and tattoos you see online, it just threw me off at first and slightly limited what we were able to do. As I said, not a bad thing just wasn't exactly what I was expecting. If yoy found something online that you want or just have a general idea of something you want to get but no hyper specific image in mind, this is the perfect shop for you. Would definitely recommend to other people and will be back with a clearer idea in mind next time. 9/10

I got to sit with Parviz Baghirov (@parviz.ink) and not only were the results amazing, but he is the nicest, most interesting guy. The entire staff were incredibly kind and enthusiastic, and all of the artists are insanely talented. I plan to go back here when I expand on my half sleeve idea, hopefully to work with Parviz again as well.

Positive experience: A bit disorganized but great work. I had a tattoo consultation book at 2pm and was told via email that my tattoo would be completed thereafter. Considering my design was very minimal I thought I’d be in and out. Even with this appointment I had to wait 2 hours to get a 5 min tattoo. Also I felt pricing was a bit shady. Prior to the appointment I had asked if there was a shop minimum to which they replied “no we don't have shop minimum” but when I talked over my design in person they said it would be $100 since that was the shop minimum. After informing them of this then they switched up and said it would be $80…When it came to the artists however Javier was great and thorough with sanitation as well as design. He was quick and efficient and made sure to check in during the session. Overall this was an interesting experience, don’t know if I’ll be back.

Negative experience: I came in as a walk-in for an ear piercing. Upon being told to pick out jewelry, I found out that they pierce with butterfly backings. Most reputable piercers use flat backs, not butterfly backings, which can trap bacteria and crusting. I have >10 ear piercings and have never been pierced with a butterfly backing, except when I got my first lobes done at Claire’s as a child. It does not seem like they adhere to proper piercing standards here, so I will seek my piercing at another shop.

Fantastic experience: First new artist/piece in a while. Ali was friendly and responsive to my requests/anxiety/nervous chatter. Biggest reason for the 5-star review is that his work is absolutely incredible. Medium-ish sized B&W piece with a decent amount of detail, and I couldn't be happier. I'm used to smaller, independant studios, so this was my first experience with a chain. Store was extremely clean, everyone was friendly, relaxed environment, professional treatment, offers of water/coffee when you arrive etc. I know some people prefer a more home-grown aesthetic, but for the quality of work you're getting I honestly wouldn't think twice about it. Great place all round
