Fantastic experience: Jesse's Jamees did my tui tattoo. He was very professional, so pleasant and very patient as I took a bit of time deciding when I wanted it done so changed appointment a couple times with notice but it was no stress to do. I'm so happy and it's healing well. Love the design and if I ever wanted to get another one I would go to Jesse again. The Gallery space is clean and the background music was good and relaxed. No heavy metal. Lol. I would add a photo but I can't work out my phone permissions but I'm getting lots if great comments on my tattoo. Thanks again Jesse

Fantastic experience: I had an idea of my half-spine tattoo before finding out about The Gallery Tattoo. Stumble upon this place through a mutual friend, I just put my idea out there (Samoan patterns style) and Juse came through and brought it to life. He showed 3 different designs and I can vouch he's great at doing his job and love it. Before my session, I was nerve-wracking as I saw on the internet the rate of the pain that some people went through. However, my experience was different (I'd rate my pain 2/10). I had fun, my support person was great as in conversing about different topics with Juse which was a great laugh. I had the best experience, absolute love the end result, received the best after-care and healing was no problem so far. They also offered reasonably affordable prices too. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Fantastic experience: Had the most wonderful experience here last week for my first Tattoo. Matt was great and very understanding and helped me to feel less anxious. I started off by not watching but the calmness in the room, and of Matt helped me to be watching the process by the end of it. If I lived locally I would definitely come back for another tattoo.

Fantastic experience: My dad and I went to get tattoos from Jesse James and Matt Ford. Both men were amazing, I got a tattoo on my calf, Matt could tell I was in pain and let me focus on just getting through the process. My dad on the other hand didn't stop talking for his whole experience with Jesse. The artwork looks amazing on us both and The Gallery Tattoo followed up with us to ensure the healing was going well. All in all would recommend going here and connecting with someone to find the artist right for you.

Fantastic experience: This was an amazing experience. Jesse designed a custom piece just for me, and I absolutely love it. His delicate, detailed workmanship is incredible — even though the tattoo is small, he still brought it to life beautifully!

Fantastic experience: I got my Samoan spine tattoo done by Juse, and I honestly couldn’t have asked for a better experience. He was so welcoming and easy to talk to, which really helped me relax, especially since this was my first big tattoo and I was pretty nervous! Fantastic experience: Paul @p.s.inks did a one of his flash pieces on my wife and she told him I was wanting one of my designs done and sent him my design. She went in for a touch up and Paul tattooed me straight after. He did a perfect job and I love it! Great guy to chat with too.

Fantastic experience: I got my first tattoo from Matt and it was fantastic. The amount of passion Matt has for his craft shows in his work and his conversation. I was pretty nervous walking in but very quickly was put at ease by the amount of preparation that went into the design of the tattoo. I don't live in Wellington unfortunately, but if I did I would be recommendeding anyone who wanted a tattoo to go to Matt. Note to Matt: Thanks again, the tattoo is healing great and I've gotten lots of compliments so far

He didn't minimise my apprehension but was real chill and welcoming and he was receptive to me rambling on about animal facts while I was there! He was also super flexible with the timing, after I strained my calf and had to reschedule. Love the tattoo and the experience was fantastic. Cheers buddy.

Fantastic experience: Got my first tattoo done by Matt Ford. I am currently visiting NZ from the US for a 2 week trip and booked with Matt about 8 months out with a design I had in mind and asked him to put his own spin on it with some watercolor. The results he drew up were beautiful and I couldn’t be happier with the final product. Being this was my first tattoo I was naturally nervous but Matt made the process from start to finish super easy. I brought a book to keep myself occupied for the 2.5 hours but didn’t need it because the conversation was great and the tattoo process was easy. If I lived local, I would come back to Matt in a heartbeat. I was a little bummed when it was over because I was enjoying it. He’s a talented and creative guy with a clear passion for what he does.

Fantastic experience: I got paired with Juce the other day to do this insane leg band that reminisces my time in Aotearoa and he did an incredible job despite me giving him almost nothing to work with, he knocked it out of the park. He also does amazing designs too and hes really chill and awesome, so if your thinking about booking someone who does killer art, you should go check him out

Fantastic experience: Me and my friend got tattooed by the lovley matt who was really nice and super fun to talk to. Also extremely talented as well! We enjoyed our time in the shop and were very thankful with the hospitality! If anyone has any fun obscure ideas they should check him out cause hes really fun! And he did an amazing job

Fantastic experience: Beautiful and sterile place. Friendly and professional staff. Top quality artwork Walked in for a coverup few months back, which in turn progressed into a half sleeve. Matt was super professional and friendly throughout the entire process. He has a knack of taking the design straight from your head and applying it onto the skin. The tattoo has now healed perfectly with no issues and will go in to complete the sleeve soon. Also walked in for one of their flash sales and had Paul work on a quick little alchemist sigil which also was perfect. My wife was the one who introduced me to the place and she has some great work done from here as-well. Highly recommend the team at Gallery tattoo

Fantastic experience: Super friendly and helpful staff! 100% recommend to others. The staff are very informative and answered all my queries on tattoos. I got my first tattoo done here and it couldn’t have been a better experience! The space itself is super hygienic and clean, a really inviting, welcoming space to enter into. Really convenient if you live in Wellington central especially, as their location is easy to walk to from just about anywhere. I got my tattoo from Matt Ford, whose mentality is to make the tattoo of yours look even better than the reference you give him. He’s a very talented, experienced tattoo artist and a really nice person to talk to in general.

Fantastic experience: I‘ve been on vacation in NZ and knew that by the end of my time here, I wanted to get a new tattoo. My design idea was pretty straight forward but also needed a competent and skilled artist as my idea was to have a delicate straight line down my spine paired with a sun next to the shoulder blade. I contacted the studio as I was traveling and they replied really fast. I got so so lucky that Matt had time and was up to the idea. He made a design just as I pictured it in my head. I loved that he took the time to really set it up to make sure it was really straight and perfect in every detail. The placement was key with this design! The result is absolutely perfect! During the whole process I was able to completely relax and was able to chat with Matt about his work and his beautiful art. If you’re thinking about getting a tattoo which is one of a kind, go and meet up with Matt. His passion and his skill is truely inspiring. I will definitely go back here if I find my way back to NZ. Oh and one last thing about Matt. He did all this on his day off. What a kind thing to do and a cool way to show up for the thing you love. Thank you Matt!

Fantastic experience: I highly recommend this place! I recently got an armband tattoo from Matt, and he did an amazing job bringing my complex design to life. The details were spot-on, and he placed everything perfectly with great care. I also had some challenges scheduling my appointment, but the team was incredibly helpful in resolving that. I can’t imagine a better place for a tattoo than Gallery Tattoo in Wellington!

He's a very talented artist and perfectly executed my vision based on a good iterative design process conducted beforehand. The experience was super chill and I will be coming back again ASAP. Fantastic experience: @mattford tattooed a Magyar / Hungarian Matyo (flower embroidery but I chose to have it realistic) in the inside of my arm. He spent some time in Hungary previously and liaised with some Hungarian tattoo colleagues while preparing for my tattoo. There are some kaupapa that needs to be followed in designing the Matyo. I am completely blown away by the quality, beauty, detail, perfection and aroha he poured into my very special tattoo, this homage to my cultural background. I would not have trusted just anyone to complete this piece and I'm so thankful to have serendipitously met him online by chance! Thank you thank you Matt!!

Fantastic experience: I had my first tattoo with Matt and his work is amazing! That’s the reason why I had the two next ones with him too ! He is really passionate by his work but also really professional and will always make sure that the result is perfect. He will always follow you in your projects and will even give you better ideas than the one you had at the beginning I will definitely go back to him for all my tattoos. The shop is also really nice and clean.

Fantastic experience: Wow! I knew Matt Ford was going to be good but I never in my wildest dreams imagined my tattoo would be so incredible. The detail is phenomenal. Matt is a true artist and so talented. He listened to what I wanted and created an amazing drawing. Most importantly he did not get offended when I wanted a few changes to it for personal reasons. He was patient and went the extra mile to ensure I was happy with the design. And then he created the most beautiful tattoo ever and I am over the moon. What an amazing piece of art! Fantastic experience: WOW.... I've got my very first tattoo done by Juse at the Gallery Tattoo couple of weeks as I wanted something special to stay with me from my travels through New Zealand. From the very first contact to the final tattoo on my ankle it was such a fantastic experience. As I was travelling I had a narrow time window to get the tattoo done - but the guys at Gallery Tattoo went beyond to make sure that a session could take place during the days I was in Wellington. THANK YOU! Juse is an awesome tattoo artist, who understood right away what I wanted. He is professional, talented and so such a great guy!! He checked on me during the session, made sure I felt comfortable and understood every step of the process. The drawing was already wonderful and the final tattoo is just amazing!!! I LOVE IT!!! I smile every time I look at it. For sure will be back at Gallery Tattoo and Juse for my next tattoo, when I get back to Welly - which is hopefully soon! THANKS, JUSE!!! :)

Fantastic experience: Got my tattoo done from Matt, from discussing the idea, getting the actual tattoo to the aftercare Matt has been as detailed as possible. His knowledge on tattoos and placement of tattoos is amazing. Matt also touched up an older tattoo and made it so much better than it was. Fantastic experience: I got my first ever tattoo done by Matt Ford in December last year and I was super happy with the results and I still am now even after the healing process, it looks amazing! I went in with an idea of what I wanted but he took the time to create a tattoo that was unique and would best suit me and the placement. He had a few different designs made up so I had more of a choice to what I liked more and all those designs were amazing on their own! During the tattooing stage, he kept checking on me to make sure I was doing okay and that it wasn’t too painful for me. He was very nice and did an amazing job on the tattoo! I’m still very happy with how it looks now after almost 9 months since getting it done! The gallery tattoo was very clean and the staff were friendly too, the whole environment was relaxing and warm which allowed me to stay more calm and relaxed during the process. I’ll definitely be going back to get another tattoo from him!

Fantastic experience: I highly recommended The Gallery Tattoo. I’ve had two tattoos from them now, and both experiences were fantastic! The atmosphere is relaxed and private, and the art on display is engaging - it’s a good distraction from the pain! I’ve had two different artists for my tattoos. Both were great at working with me to develop something incredible from my ideas. Casey in particular was very patient with me. The final piece Casey put together is exactly what I wanted, and the tattoo is crisp and clear. They were also very gentle, and let me take a few breaks when needed. If you’re looking for a place to get your next tattoo, or your first, The Gallery is the place to go.

Fantastic experience: I can't speak highly enough of Jesse Jamees at The Gallery Tattoo. This was my first tattoo and from the moment I made initial contact, to now with a fully healed tattoo, the whole experience has been great. When I first met Jesse in person and we talked through the design, everything just felt right - I knew I had made the right choice. Jesse managed to capture everything I wanted into an amazing design. Being my first tattoo, I was nervous about the the tattooing process itself, but Jesse gave me some tips and he also took great care. The end result was better than I imagined - you just have to take a look at some of his work to know that he is a master of his craft. The after care support was something I didn't expect either - he really goes out of his way to make sure that you are completely happy with your new tattoo. The experience far exceeded my expectations and I very much look forward to my next tattoo with Jesse.

Fantastic experience: I had my first tattoo with Abby at The Gallery. I adore it so much. She made it easy and stress free. And I loved the way we worked together on the design. She first beautifully interpreted a photo I had taken, and then made it come alive as a tattoo. I had a little panic at first, but she made me feel safe and confident. And it didn't even really hurt much. Thank you Abby, for being an amazing artist, and a beautiful person. You have been part of a really significant time in my life. And The Gallery space is really relaxing - lots of natural light, space, and really great service and people. There's nowhere else I could have gone.

Fantastic experience: Oh my goodness. From the moment I walked in I felt I was in the best of hands. Jake made me feel so welcomed and we were talking away like old friends. The rooms is so beautifully filled with light plants big windows and white walls. Not your usual tattoo shop. Such a tremendous experience, can't recommend them highly enough.

Fantastic experience: Amazing experience from first contact, to after care. Mario and Caera take are absolutely professional and continue to improve processes. They send out 6 emails over the course of your appointment, each with useful information following up to, and after your appointment. The great team of artists are diverse in style and creativity. Jesse did 2 pieces for me, and was amazing in the consult, taking my ideas making them actual art. I was comfortable and happy throughout. The atmosphere of the studio adds to the experience! Can't say enough about this place! Thank you to everyone at the studio!

Fantastic experience: I've had 4 sessions with Mario to date on my back piece, I have found him to be patient, polite, respectful and a very skilled tattoo artist. He took a lot time consulting with me regarding my back, which involved lots of back and forth emailing, as well as an initial consult free of charge. The studio itself is light, bright and warm with a very welcoming and safe atmosphere where I felt looked after and cared for by everyone I came in contact with. I really appreciated the little touches that added to my sessions, such as supplying me with plenty of drinking water, yummy sweet treats, delicious hot chocolate, and the all round friendly space. I look forward to further sessions and more great conversation too!

Our artist (I wish I remembered his name) was lovely, very helpful and quick to help us nail down exactly what we wanted. Fantastic experience: Highly recommend Cam Oliver and The Gallery in general! I wanted a special tattoo in memory of my grandparents, who recently passed. After a friend got a fabulous tattoo from Mario, I saw Cam's artwork online and knew I had to book in with him. I brought a few drawings I'd found online, and he came up with a masterpiece. He also was able to still find time to fit me in when I had to make a last-minute appointment change, which I really appreciated since I wanted to have the tattoo for my trip home to show my family this special piece. The final tattoo is beyond anything I could have expected or hoped for, and the price was extremely reasonable. The Gallery is clean, professional and a comfortable place to get tatted. I've gotten so many comments on the incredible color and uniqueness of the bluebonnets on my ankle. I'll be visiting Cam again for my next tattoo. :)

Fantastic experience: It was serendipitous that my son and I managed to secure a appointment with Jake on our recent trip down to Wellington. We were after a lunar design - the phases of the moon for me on my forearm and the identical full moon as mine on the bicep for my son Sohl. Jake was amazing. He understood the sentiment and importance of design for me (as a mother) and was stunning with Sohl (his first ink). Building a relationship with a artist in a short period of time is so important when you are getting these life long pieces of Art. Jake was everything I wanted Sohl to experience in an artist, and he joined in on our excitement, which made the journey even more special. The Gallery Custom Tattoo is such a chill vibe full of wonderful, creative and kind artists and collaborators. We will be back.

Fantastic experience: I loved every minute of my experience with the Gallery Custom Tattoo. All of the artists and Ceara, one of the owners were super friendly an professional. They made sure I was completely comfortable, knew as much as I could about what I was in for (both during and after my tattoo) and made sure I was completely happy with the design before we went ahead. I was provided with plenty of water and delicious bliss balls. My tattoo artist, Angie Dawn, was professional, kind, clear and patient - gorgeous girl. Fantastic experience: My overall experience at The Gallery Custom Tattoo was fantastic from the moment I walked in. Ceara and Angie were so polite and welcoming, and communicated the process extremely well, making me feel at ease straight away. When it came to getting the tattoo their attention to detail showed how professional they are and that they genuinely cared not only for me as a client but what the end result would be. I highly recommend them and will be returning again one day.

Fantastic experience: Absolutely blown away by The Gallery this morning! Such an amazing location, with the most lovely and welcoming people. Katy did an amazing job on my first ever tattoo, and was so kind and warm from the very first time I contacted her. I felt so well looked after by both Katy and Ceara (The drinks and treats are an amazing touch!), and absolutely adore my tattoo. I feel like Ive spent my morning in a day spa!
