Fantastic experience: A brilliant two hours with a gifted artist. Tagdh redesigned and recreated an old to a new tattoo, which I love. I just gave him the spec and left the rest to him as these artists are gifted. To say I was delighted with the result is an understatement, he did a better job than I could have ever imagined. What a brilliant place to have a tattoo.

Fantastic experience: My wife and I had our 1st tattoos last week. Both needed a bit design tweaking which Ger did. He made a great job of both tattoos. Aftercare advice was good and all staff were friendly and helpful.

Fantastic experience: Had a great experience for a guy who wanted his first tattoo. Went in looking for an urgent appointment (in case I changed my mind) and @lorcanbigfoot said he could do it that day. I went off to have breakfast and came back an hour later. I wanted a tattoo that my daughter designed and Lorcan did a great job recreating it. If you are looking for a tattoo in Galway I would deffo recommend AWOL Tattoos and Lorcan. It might be my first tattoo but won’t be my last.

Every artist had a level of professionalism that you would expect from the top studios. My artist @pinkiekiller was phenomenal. They broke it down so well and made the whole session a blast. Fantastic experience: Fantastic shop and amazing tattoo artists and staff! My dad and I came to Galway from Newfoundland and had our tattoo appointment booked beforehand. We showed up a little early and the folks at the shop welcomed us in. Our tattoo was done by Lorcan (@lorcanbigfoot) and he could not have been cooler. He really took the time making sure placement was exactly where we wanted and was the nicest person to chat with. He clearly loves what he does and is great at it! All the other artists are extremely talented as well, and the rest of the shop staff are so friendly! We ended up having a good chat with them and recieved some great recommendations for the rest of our Ireland trip. I plan on coming back to Galway in the future and will be getting more work done at AWOL. I'd give more than 5 stars if I could!

Fantastic experience: I wanted to get a sound bar tattoo on my arm and from the second I went in to enquire, it was clear the staff are all just amazing. I explained my original concept and after discussing it with me I decided to go for a morse code option instead. When I came back for my appointment, I had Tadhg work his magic and I was in and out in less than 30 minutes! I’ve had tattoos from other local places, but it’s clear to see why AWOL is a top contender in Galway for atmosphere, pricing, cleanliness and quality. I’ll definitely be back for more designs!

Fantastic experience: Got my nose pierced just over a week ago, such lovely staff in there, was in and done super quick and the jewellery they recommended I use is beautiful!! Price is perfect too I spent 45 altogether :) would 100% recommend this place to anyone, especially if you are a first timer and may be a little nervous! Edit: just got my belly button done today. Fantastic experience: as always a great experience with the awol team! I had booked in requesting Áine for some new helix piercings. She’s so great at making you feel at ease and talked me through placement options and advised specifically regarding my unique ear anatomy. Titaniu.miz changed the jewelry in my healed helix and conch, they were so lovely to chat to and custom made jump hoops for the chain to sit nice and flat. and lastly thank you to Chloë at the desk for helping me choose the jewelry, advising against a certain placement and finding new jewelry for my friend too who didn’t even have an appointment. lots of love

Fantastic experience: AWOL was amazing! I was only visiting Galway for a day and they were able to squeeze me in! Everyone in the shop is extremely friendly and welcoming. My artist was incredibly nice and kept checking to see if I was okay. Loved my artwork and the tattoo turned out phenomenal. HIGHLY recommend.

Negative experience: I know people have good experiences with this shop and are well know skill piercers and tattoo artist . However, I recently went in to ask for advice regarding a piercing, and I left feeling disappointed and quite disrespected. When I explained that the piercing had previously shown signs of infection — including green discharge, inflammation, pain and redness and that I had treated it with an antibiotic/steroid , which to note resolved the staff member I spoke to responded in a condescending and dismissive way. She insisted it couldn’t be considered an infection unless I was vomiting or needed hospitalisation. As a nurse, I’m well aware of the difference between a localised infection and something more systemic like sepsis or bacteremia which is what the person describe and would require further treatment and I found it frustrating to be spoken down to in such a patronising manner. Her attitude felt degrading, especially as it was said in front of other clients waiting. I was genuinely looking for advice, not to be belittled or corrected in such an unkind way. I hope the staff can be more mindful and respectful when offering advice in the future particularly to customers who come in seeking help and clarity, not judgment.

Fantastic experience: I can’t recommend AWOL enough! The place was very clean and I had a great chat with my artist, Steve. He had great ideas and suggestions for my tattoo and executed it beautifully. The staff were all very friendly and they were flexible with my deposit (I had some trouble with it since I don’t live in Ireland). If you want a quality tattoo done in Galway, this is the place to go!

Fantastic experience: I’ve had 6 tattoos before this and awol was by far the best experience. My fiance and I had just gotten engaged in Ireland and wanted some matching Kirby’s. We were able to walk in and get them the same day. Steve, our artist, had done many Kirby’s over the years so we have deemed in the Kirby king! The entire staff was so friendly and awesome and Steve made the entire experience unforgettable. We are still healing a bit but we already are obsessed with the vintage 90s dudes on our arms. I’ve already recommended a friend who’s visiting Ireland next week to come to awol!

Fantastic experience: Found AWOL while looking to get a tattoo during my stay in Galway. The entire shop has the best vibe. Artists are super friendly and the talent is apparent. I went in for a walk-in appointment and, as luck would have it, they were able to fit me in that day. Sarah was my artist and she was so professional. My tattoo was simple line work, but she was meticulous and made sure everything looked great. She was also super fun, patient, & encouraging. I would 100% come back and get another tattoo next time I stop over in Galway.

Fantastic experience: Husband and I stopped as walk-ins in for memento tattoos of our Ireland trip. Tadgh took care of me and Ryan took care of the husband. Designed the artwork on the spot based on what we wanted (even proofread my Irish with a native speaker ). We both really enjoyed their personalities, conversation, and professionalism. Fantastic experience: I was around in Galway thinking about getting my first tattoo, i walked in the studio and the girl at the entrance was very very kind, they had a free spot with Gerard so I got the tattoo immediately. Gerard has a very soft hand and he’s also very friendly, it lasted an hour. I was very anxious but i didn’t feel any pain. 10/10, would recommend.

I visit both the piercing and tattoo shops and I’m always met with the most amazing staff whose customer service is always top notch from the minute you walk in the door. Fantastic experience: I was here with my wife to get a small tattoo for both of us. Although we "only" wanted a small tattoo, we were treated really well as customers. We got in touch via Instagram and it was super quick. We got an appointment relatively spontaneously that fitted in perfectly with our holiday plans. Jess was super friendly and quick. The artist Ryan was super relaxed and friendly. The work was almost painless. The result is very, very good and we are super happy. I would recommend anyone to go here for a tattoo.

Fantastic experience: So delighted with AWOL, I got a nose piercing during the summer & yesterday my first tattoo so feel like I can now review fully! Everyone was so kind & a pleasure to deal with right from the first time I called. I was not at all rushed during my piercing appointment, and the staff were knowledgeable about what jewellery would suit best Etc for healing as well as my long term goals. My piercing healed beautifully! As for the tattoo, I booked in for a friend and I to get a small matching tattoos - once again, was met with such patience and kindness throughout the booking process. Yesterday was such a wonderful experience for us, @eros_tatu (Ryan) was just so lovely and personable with us both. It was a pretty busy day as it was the lead up to Christmas, but this didn’t impact the service at all, Ryan was relaxed, friendly and generally just a really good vibe! The service was top notch, and we are thrilled with the final product! It’s clear AWOL have staff that are not only passionate about what they do, but also have immense talent & wonderful customer service. I’m so happy we chose here to go to. Fantastic experience: Got two little fine line tattoos with my sister in law while on a weekend in Galway. Jess was so lovely on the front desk and as for Ryan, I think we traumatised the poor fella. It was such a laugh and delighted with the results! Thanks a mill, will defo pop in again.

Fantastic experience: I’ve had so many recommendation to go to this place for piercings and tattoos by almost everyone that I know in Galway. I recently got my septum pierced and as someone who does NOT deal well with pain of any sort, it’s safe to say I’ll be returning to AWOL for any piercing or tattoos needs. I asked every question under the sun and everyone from the front desk manager to the piercer answered my inquiries with patience and respect, and never made me feel silly for asking them. The set up was pristine, and the piercer (Robbie) took his time making sure that I was comfortable. All in all the process took about 15 minutes, I felt very little pain, and look forward to going back for my next piercing/tattoos!

Positive experience: I took a risk and drove all the way from Dublin to Galway to have a piece tattooed by the wonderful Aoife - Insta @queen_of_dogshite. As an introvert I am not really one for talking and so it was such a relief for the artist to put me at ease naturally. It's always a bonus to feel at ease in a comfortable environment when being tattooed for a number of hours. Aoife is a brilliant artist in her own right and I had seen a piece she posted on instagram 'thread' to which Aoife kindly agreed to tattoo for me. I am extremely with the result and will be returning for a larger piece. Although it is a trek for me to attend AWOL I would highly recommend visiting AWOL in Galway as there seems to be a really positive vibe about the place. The other artists were all very busy and also friendly to speak with. My customers experience was overall really positive with one STAR less only due to cash only which meant I had to leave for an ATM, find one and return to pay.

Fantastic experience: Went to Galway for vacation and worked with Jess to secure a provisional appointment with Tadgh for some artwork I've been wanting for a while. The provisional fell through BUT Jess was able to get me in the shop the very next day with Lorcan who did a brilliant job on both my arm and leg pieces. Very well run crew in this shop, very friendly, and always looking to meet customers expectations. I'll definitely get another tattoo done here when I come back to Galway, love you guys!

Fantastic experience: I went to have an infected piercing removed that I had not had done there. They were very kind, both the girls who attended me and the guy who removed the piercing with a lot of patience because it was very swollen and in bad condition. So I appreciate the kindness, the time spent and that they have not charged me anything.

Fantastic experience: Got my nose pierced today and I absolutely love it! I highly recommend AWOL. I was so nervous getting it done but the staff were so helpful and put me at ease saying it wasn't that bad and it actually wasn't. I guess if I got through labour pain I can get through any pain . Fantastic experience: The team at AWOL are absolutely amazing and the studio is spotlessly clean! I am super squeamish and have a bad phobia of needles so getting my navel pierced was quite a big deal for me I explained my nerves when booking my appointment and Boo was so reassuring Miz pierced me, they explained everything so well and kept me at ease throughout ✨ I am a fainter when it comes to things like this so of course I did end up fainting after Miz and Boo both looked after me while I was getting back to feeling normal and were so understanding They are incredibly good at what they do and I absolutely love my lil piercing ✨ Thank you so much

Fantastic experience: I cannot recommend AWOL highly enough! I got my first piercings here last year and every single staff member was so welcoming and professional. The studio is so clean and they explain everything clearly, from what the piercing involves to aftercare. I had to have surgery and treatment for a brain tumour this year, which required removal of my piercings. Boo was so helpful in responding to all my messages and questions about having retainers fitted and they even gave me recommendations on reputable sites from which I could get glass ones for longer periods of wear. I appreciated it so much, as although keeping my piercings may seem trivial in that context, it was important to me and my self-image! They were always happy to help me get them sized correctly, fitted and removed. Some of my lobe piercings closed throughout my treatment - I expected I would have to have them repierced, but Miz managed to reopen one, which was amazing! Long story short, brilliant place and amazing staff!

Fantastic experience: 10/10 experience all round. Jess was so sound, got back to me immediately and got me booked in super quick. Ryan was great, an excellent artist, and a really very nice guy. I work in medicine and shop hygiene practices were as good as any hospital. Price was incredibly good value too. Overall absolutely delighted with how it turned out and highly recommend to anyone in Galway!

Fantastic experience: My partner and I were just in Galway for a few days and thought we would get a little souvenir to remember our trip. We did not make an appt and walked in hoping they'd have availability, we were so lucky Sarah was available! She was so charming and just fun to hang with while she got us tattooed. Fantastic experience: I’ve been going to AWOL for my piercings for years. Today was my 10th piercing and every visit has been great! The place is super clean, they’ve got a nice selection of jewellery and the after care is brilliant. They really stress if you have any issues to come back and mean it. They are super accommodating for downsizing, jewellery changing, etc, if you pop in they’ll always try their best to fit ya in. I’ve had most of my piercings done by Robbie. He always puts me at ease and is brilliant at what he does. Everyone in AWOL is really kind and helpful, especially Boo on front desk. They are always super patient while you agonise over picking jewellery Will definitely be back for more once I heal up some!!

Fantastic experience: I have nothing but high praise for AWOL and its staff! Everyone was so helpful, so kind, and really made us feel welcome. This was not my first tattoo, but it was for my daughter and they were fantastic with her! Jess is a rockstar and helped us get appointments on short notice - since we were traveling overseas to visit, her communication was clear and was exactly what I'd hoped for to take the worry out. We each were getting different tattoos, and Gerard took the same care and time with each of us to make sure we were well cared for. He is an incredible artist with an excellent attention to detail - I never had someone go over their work 2 and 3 times to make sure it met their high standards. That set a new bar for me. He was really great with my daughter and made sure placement was perfect as well as the detail that he put into hers. It was such a great experience for a father & daughter to have; both of us are so, so happy we chose AWOL and got to meet Jess and Gerard!
