Fantastic experience: I am a repeat customer at Red and have been for years. I recently had an apprentice piercing with Emmy and she was fabulous. I feel adorable. I’ve also been tattooed by Hannah and would recommend her too. They’re a lovely bunch, always happy to change position of tattoo stencils/piercing markings. Negative experience: I've been getting pierced here for years but I haven't had good experiences the past couple times I've been unfortunately. Staff are usually friendly and helpful, I like that they use internally threaded jewelry and the aesthetic of the shop is lovely, but I no longer have confidence in their piercing practices anymore. One of the helixes I had done here was pierced crooked, so I had to take it out. When I had my double helixes done, a few things went wrong. First of all, I noticed that the piercer used a pen marker to mark my ear and did not throw it away after using it. I understand some piercing studios use single use pen markers (if that is what was used) but for the customer's piece of mind it would be appreciated if they would throw the marker away right after so that customer's don't doubt hygiene practices. Secondly, a strand of my hair was pierced though the hole along with the jewelry, which was totally missed by the piercer. I only noticed when I got home, and it was painful to pull it out. I went in to have these helixes downsized some weeks later, and shortly that same day I had a lot of swelling and irritation. This got worse and I had a full blown infection on both piercings as seen by a doctor which required antibiotics to clear up. I clean my piercings religiously with neilmed spray, and after the previous negative experiences with RED, it did make me consider that the hygiene practices of the studio could have been a possible cause for the infection, especially after developing an infection the same day of having the piercings downsized. Unfortunately I cannot return to RED after these experiences.

Negative experience: I got a lip piercing here in a while back (about October 2024) and while I’ve waited a while to write this, I feel it’s important to leave a bit of a beware for others. The staff are (mostly) lovely -especially the receptionist, but I found the piercer to be quite condescending during my appointment. My lip was pierced with a bar that was too short, which led to a lot of issues early on. I wish I still had the photos of how red and irritated it became. To be fair, she was kind enough to swap it out after two weeks, but by that point, the swelling hadn’t gone down properly because of the original bar being too tight. I genuinely believe that this caused the majority of problems I’ve had with the piercing since. I also have a friend who got his bridge piercing done here, and it ended up being noticeably wonky, which is really disappointing. I feel bad leaving this kind of review, but I think it's important to share honest experiences especially when it comes to something as sensitive as piercing. The owner replied and I’m not sure if you’ll be able to see that I’ve edited my review, but I want to clarify: I fully understand you’re all professionals, and I mean no disrespect. But I didn’t just “over-swell” as the initial bar used was genuinely too short. I know that for a fact because I still have that same bar in now and it’s still very short..

Fantastic experience: Ruth was amazing! I felt so comfortable, she took her time with my design choices and didn’t add any pressure at, and was nice and quick with the tattoo itself. The studio was lovely, all very clean and cool, and the tunes kept me going! So happy - I recommend!

Fantastic experience: I absolutely LOVE my tattoo. I had an idea of what I was looking for, and Ruth created a beautiful illustration that went beyond what I could have imagined. Ruth was so friendly, patient and helpful, and took time to make adjustments until I was 100% happy with the sketch, placement and final result. Fantastic experience: Walked in and was greeted by polite, enthusiastic, and cheerful staff. They were very informative and made me feel comfortable and safe when enquiring about piercings, offering brilliant advice beforehand. The lady who pierced my forward helix and tragus was incredibly down to earth. She communicated with me clearly throughout the entire procedure, which really put me at ease. Afterwards, she gave me thorough aftercare advice—I left knowing far more than I ever expected (including the importance of not making my own DIY saline spray!). She was absolutely lovely and handled the piercing process exceptionally well. After having my first two piercings done there, I was so impressed with the service—and most importantly, the quality of the piercings—that I returned for two more (helix and rook). If you’re looking for a 5/5 service, I highly recommend visiting. It was quick, straightforward, and the overall environment was fantastic. I would strongly recommend this place to both first-timers and experienced piercers alike.

Negative experience: My girl got her first piercing here yesterday and I’m absolutely appalled. The piercing area is in the same room as the waiting area, which raises serious hygiene concerns—no proper separation or sterilization protocol. We were quoted a price that supposedly included the stud, but when we asked to switch it with a different ball they added the full cost on top. They used a bar that was far too long. Now we have to go elsewhere to get it fixed. I’ve had close to 30 piercings over the years, and I’ve never experienced service this poor at any other studio.

Negative experience: I got my forward helix pierced over 2 weeks ago, and i have now been back four times to the shop to get the jewel (which i paid £40 for) back on. I am extremely disappointed in the quality of the jewellery. i have avoided touching my piercing, yet the jewel has still fallen out multiple times. If you are paying £15 extra for an upgrade in jewellery i expect this to stay on? i have now replaced the jewellery with a ring since the full piercing fell out. Again extremely disappointed and will not be returning.

Fantastic experience: Ruth was fantastic. Really polite and friendly, definitely put me at total ease. The stencil was even better than I had imagined, after I sent a description of what I was looking for. The tattoo is perfect, and looks amazing. Ruth was lovely throughout, and kept checking to make sure I was okay and comfortable throughout.

Fantastic experience: I popped in on Thursday morning to have my Nose pierced, I was very happy with Maddie who pierced my nose, very professionally, patient and kind and I'm super happy with the results, barely any pain or discomfort I'll definitely be back for my next piercing. Fantastic experience: I got my tragus pierced by Danielle yesterday, she explained absolutely everything she was doing, walked me through the procedure and kept talking the whole way through. Helped me choose a jewellery that would be suitable for the healing process and everything. The piercing itself lasted a matter of seconds after she checked I liked the placement, after she did it I was immediately so happy with how it looked! I think it might be my favourite out of all my piercings! Will definitely come back for my future piercings. Photos are immediately after it was done and then the next day.

Negative experience: I had a really awful experience here on the 27th of this month. i don’t often leave reviews but i’ve never had such a bad experience in this or any other piercing studio. i have previously had my snakebites and eyebrow pierced here by maddie who is a wonderful, gentle and patient piercer. however, on this day i was wanting to get my snakebites repierced as they had fallen out about 6 months before and assumed they had closed up after attempts to get my jewellery back in. I am unsure of the name of the woman who was my piercer this day but after a very short conversation about my piercings she decided to see if either holes were still open, which one of them surprisingly was, however the hole was incredibly small. she proceeded to aggressively push a taper through the tiny hole in my lip with little warning or information on how much it would hurt. i felt nerve pains all throughout my jaw and it was excruciating, and like that wasn’t bad enough she proceeded to put the jewelry in backwards then take it out and put it in the right way very clumsily which hurt my piercing hole awfully. Obviously, i am unsure of the standard procedure in this circumstance and she may have done this correctly but the sheer amount of pain, lack of warning and lack of communication or opportunity for me to give consent for such a horrific procedure was really appalling. after i started crying slightly and letting her know she told me she didn’t feel comfortable to carry on and said i shouldn’t come back for the other side, just imagine how uncomfortable i felt. i luckily got a refund of £52 from the £60 i spent which i am grateful for. i won’t be coming back here unfortunately but hope that no one else has a similar experience.

Negative experience: Cost about £15 more than the average piercing and then fell out after a week

Fantastic experience: I walked in for an industrial yesterday with my niece in tow for a nose stud. We were both seen really quickly and in all honesty this was probably the best experience I've had. Quick, efficient and clean. I'd say painless but is a piercing ever pain free? in all honesty the lady who did it was fab, talked me through the whole thing and I was only in mild discomfort for a matter of milliseconds. My niece was seen by another lady but again the experience was smooth sailing would absolutely recommend l.

Negative experience: My boyfriend got his nose pierced on Saturday, the bar was far too short (8mm) his nose had swollen so much that the stud was embedded in his skin and it was healing over. Thankfully another piercer has removed it safely. Please use longer bars to allow for swelling!

Fantastic experience: Came in yesterday for a spur of the moment tat. I had a reference photo but wanted it tweaked to be a more traditional style which the artist (whose name I did not catch) for me with no issues. The space was clean and the tattoo was a swift process. The staff on the reception were lovely and chatty with each other, which made for a nice relaxing space. Would defiantly recommend for tattoos. I have also had piercings done in the past here which did reject, but due to no fault of the staff as it was pierced correctly and safely

Fantastic experience: Got my septum pierced by Ruth and she was so lovely and efficient (even gave me a lollipop afterwards!). All the other staff were so friendly and the jewellery selection was better than any other piercing shops I visited!

Negative experience: The worst experience I’ve ever had at a piercing salon. On the 5th of April I went in to get a navel piercing, which I had done before and which should be simple and straightforward. The staff at the desk and the piercer were very flippant and rude - almost like they didn’t want customers or like it is beneath them to deal with customers. The piercing itself was done wrong and not in the place I said I wanted it. It’s visibly misaligned like the picture shows. It hurt quite badly (like I said I had this done before and it was nothing like this) and the jewel itself is so low quality I had to go back not once, not twice but three times to get it replaced / get a new ball in the space of less than two weeks! I received no apology from any member of the staff. Also, every single time I went they were on their “lunch break” even though I went at different times. I saw this mentioned in other reviews here so you better make sure you take a day off if you want to be served at this place, because you’ll have to sit around and wait. I’m guessing they don’t want clients or can’t comprehend the fact that other people have jobs too. Back to my piercing - 15 days later my most recent jewel from this salon is missing a gem, so I am waiting for them to send me a new one through the post so I can fit it myself. I had been waiting for a week when I decided to message them and ask when it’s going to arrive, only to be told it’s been shipped today. An absolute joke of a business. You might be wondering why I paid money for this charade, as the whole thing cost me almost £50 and I received no compensation for any of the headache they put me through. I honestly regret ever going there in the first place and I would never recommend this place to anyone. AVOID!!

Hannah was great from the initial concept through to completion, with good aftercare also. She really delivered on the design and the tattoo itself. Negative experience: It was a waste of time booking with Tim. I didn’t receive a picture of my tattoo design until seeing it in person the day of. Even though I had asked to see it before the appointment just incase I wanted to change something and see what he came up with overall. The drawing was really bad and I had wanted to change so many things to match the reference of what I spent drawing out for myself.. At the appointment I asked for one specific detail to be changed twice and he still came up with something I didn’t want. He literally didn’t seem bothered to do it, gave me my deposit and told me he won’t do it as it’d take him too long to re draw it as if I didn’t try and avoid that by asking to see it before the appointment.. He also kept going on about not understanding the tattoo, which unfortunately is common with instagram artists with copy and paste tattoos. It’s a shame because he does tattoo nicely but seems passive aggressive and close minded. Couldn’t even have a conversation so I’m glad it went that way. Also the women working there made it uncomfortable to sit in the waiting room with their conversations and stuff. Just not the vibe compared to other tattoo shops I’ve been to.. :/ Edit: The tattoo I drew out was a concept that your tattoo artist didn’t grasp. You can keep talking about how bad it was even though I drew it out in a day as an idea and he managed to butch it up even though he had like a month or two to draw it out amongst other reference photos and he did it worse so I guess we can agree to disagree. Keep standing by your miserable employees, good luck with your future business because the reviews aren’t lying. Be all passive aggressive all you want with your replies, it just shows people to avoid you like a plague.

Fantastic experience: I absolutely love coming to this Tattoo and Piercing studio. Every visit to Leeds (from Essex) I have to come here and get a piercing. This was the second visit, I came for a tongue web. Danielle is an experienced piercer who provides a wide range of jewellery and good prices too! The whole process was quick and hygienic, and the aftercare instructions were very thorough. Will definitely return for more!

Positive experience: Although very informative and seem to know their stuff. I found them very abrupt and not at all approachable. Made my partner feel like she just wanted to get out of there and she only went to get her piercing changed! I wasn't made to feel welcome either. I understand hygiene but i just wanted to talk to my partner in the doorway and put her at ease and was told to go sit down like a child!

Had my lobes pierced at lunchtime, by dinner it had stopped hurting at all. zero pain or redness even several days later, unless I accidentally knock the piercing about.

Fantastic experience: i visit red quite often to get tattooed by hannah, who is so lovely and patient which is why i keep returning! i’ve also been pierced twice, once by danielle and once by maddie. they were both so kind and explained the healing process of each piercing i got and took their time with the piercing process. each artist has their own kind of style so you’ll definitely find something you like, so i fully recommend going here!!

Fantastic experience: I recently got 3 piercings done at this place. I got a second piercing for my ear lobes and another for my helix. They explained throughout the process what they were doing, so if you're new to piercings, this place is great for you. They don't use a gun to pierce, which is why I went to them, and they cleansed everything before doing the piercing. My piercing was £70 because I chose a different jewellery for my helix, rather than the generic ones they offered (they are nice regardless). They also provide a saline/cleansing spray to clean the piercings twice a day for £10 so I would recommend buying one before you leave. Overall, my experience was great, and I would recommend this place to other people!

Negative experience: I had my septum done here a month ago and the experience hasn't turned out the best. I had really good references from the place and I'm sure they do a good job but in my case, the septum wasn't done properly. In different studios they've said it's not properly done (wrong position plus it's not fully straight). The wrong position means it may take ages to heal or it may even always give me some trouble in that sense + some septums won't fit properly due to the position. Knowing this, I'm going to have to take it off and get it done again. Edited after the studios response: They responded very well to my review and made sure we could figure out a way to fix it. I appreciate that.

Negative experience: Called into the shop a few weeks ago to book a tongue piercing. I was advised that no bookings are taken as all piercings are a walk in service. Asked if I needed to see anyone in particular given it’s a more complex piercing. I was advised that all their piercers were trained to do tongue piercings so I can come anytime. Came along this morning for the piercing. On arrival I was advised that the piercer was not trained to do tongue piercings and the person who was was not in today. Very disappointed that I made a wasted trip based on inaccurate information I was provided with when I went In specifically previously to avoid this situation.

Fantastic experience: Had my ears pierced there in 2019. No problems at all with healing. Recently been back to ask for help changing a nose ring to a stud. They were happy to help!

Negative experience: I got my right Tragus and both my thirds done here last week! Unfortunately my Tragus piercing bar completely fell out and the back was snapped!! It’s left my ear very sore :/ not ideal when you’ve just paid £30 for a dodgy bar and I’m now left without a Tragus piercing and just a hole my 3rds are ok so far though! However the left hand side is quite uneven after looking at it! Slightly disappointed however the staff are really lovely and the low Review is based on the quality of the jewellery and the fact its completely come out and dropped into my ear after only a week!

Fantastic experience: Had my lip pierced today, everyone made me welcome a really nice place, I had a trainee but can't fault the service I got was professional and good would definitely recommend and will use again if I want any more doing.

They've always managed to keep me calm because I'm a huge wimp and they have an amazing range of upgrade options. Also had my first proper tattoo by Hannah which was a brilliant experience!

I've been to other piercing studios in the city centre and always have had problems which is not the case here, Danielle really knows her stuff in regards to correct placement and jewellery selection. highly recommended!

Fantastic experience: I went with two friends today (they had a septum and a nose piercing) to Red and what a great experience we had. I was pretty nervous but all the lovely staff put me at ease and were so friendly and professional. There was lots of jewellery pieces to choose from and I selected a stunning stone set hoop for my daith piercing. The piercing was done in a safe and sterile environment and wasn't as painful as I'd feared! I was reassured and made to feel comfortable throughout. Fantastic experience: I've had two full sleeve tattoos from Ruth, two front and back of thigh tattoos from Sam, one small autograph on arm from Hannah and a daith piercing from Danielle. Safe to say I have spent many hours over last 5 years in Reds! Negative experience: I emailed one of the artists around four months ago asking then if they’d be interested in doing a tattoo for me and if not, if they knew of any other artists that would be interested. They never responded, which really put me off getting a tattoo again, but I emailed him again, just incase it had gone to him spam. I finally got a reply for the someone and they just said Ryan doesn’t want to do it. I am very disappointed with how unprofessional he was regarding my request. I’ve never had an issue like this with a tattoo artist before, if it simply wasn’t their design, then they’d so no and put me in contact with another artist. I am very disgusted with how I have been treated and will not be returning to this studio again.

Fantastic experience: Super friendly atmosphere, all the piercers and staff are hygienic and professional. I went in for a walk in lobe piercing and the process couldn't have been simpler. The piercer walked me through everything that was happening and I felt so at ease!

Positive experience: Reds is lovely and the jewellery selection is amazing for the price - the piercings themselves are a really good price too. I’ve had my conch and helix done here and It’s always a quick and pleasant experience however if you know you’re prone to swelling with piercings i would definitely mention it as personally both times i’ve been pierced the bar has been a bit short and i’ve had to get it sized up due to swelling. Unlike other shops i’ve been to, Reds didn't charge anything for these bar changes and even helped when my jewellery fell out and i couldn’t get it back in. I would definitely recommend for an affordable, trustworthy and sanitary piercer

Wonderful experience, I was guided through the process, all the staff are nice and very reassuring. When I had had my piercing done I was welcome to sit for a while if I felt shaky. Negative experience: Shocking - AVOID Response to passive aggressive business reply:- How convenient to say you don't have a record of me, when in fact you claim to not have records of multiple customers, including those who pay in 'cash'. Gaining quite a reputation for providing a shoddy service and then refusing to deal with the complaints. I WOULD NEVER EVER RECOMMEND RED TATTOO AND PIERCING. Based at The Corn Exchange in Leeds, google their reviews, it's patently obvious that multiple 'customers' have the same issues with their piercings.

Fantastic experience: Fantastic artists and very professional piercers - highly recommend. The piercers give great advice - had nine piercings done here now and have had no issues at all. Have also ordered jewellery from the website and it arrived very quickly. The tattoo artists are amazing - have had five tattoos done by Sam Ding: she's a wonderful person, the colours are astounding, and all five healed beautifully. Also the general atmosphere of the place is really friendly and warm and they were also very safe and took strict precautions during COVID.

Fantastic experience: I’d been thinking of getting my helix pierced for a while and while in Leeds one day, I came across Red Tattoo & Piercing and decided to enquire about it. There were two people on reception and they spoke to me about the jewellery options, showing me the choices that they thought best suited what I’d asked for, and telling me that they use longer bars in the first instance to accommodate any swelling. They told me I could have it done straight away. Danielle then got everything ready and put a dot on my ear to check positioning - I asked her to move it up a bit which she did no problem and away we went! I was giving an after care sheet and I got the piercing spray to take home. I went back to Red Tattoo & Piercing six weeks later and Danielle checked the piercing to make sure it was ready to change to a shorter bar, and she changed it for me. Overall, I was very happy with my experience at Red and I love my helix piercing.

Positive experience: Had a couple of piercings here. Healed well without issues. Staff seemed bored or not so interested if not getting a tattoo. Every piece of jewellery I've bought from here has come loose or lost stones which at £15 per stud / bar is expensive I'm not sure on the quality as I've got jewellery from other places that has never come loose. It's clean and a nice studio though.

Fantastic experience: Have had a couple of piercings here. They are very professional and all the equipment is sterile and sealed. They give after care advice and looked at my piercing a week later when it was swollen.

Positive experience: I got my nose pierced at this place in May and all seemed well although i did notice a split in my skin next to the piercing as if the needle didnt go in smoothly. Other than that i thought things would be fine since ive had it done twice before with no issues... until around end of June/July. I started noticing a small lump at the site of where my skin was slightly split and i was cleaning it 3 times a day with saline solution as you do but weeks went by and it started bleeding constantly and the lump was red and big next to the piercing. Fast forward, i decided enough is enough and i thought maybe im allergic to the jewelery theyve used. I changed it to a stud (i had a ring in initially) because the crust was crazy on the lump and looked vile. Got no lump anymore since changing the jewelery...the ring they used must be cheap metal and i reacted badly to it because i have no lump, no soreness, no bleeding and no crust anymore and the past 2 times ive had it pierced i didnt get a reaction to anything.

Fantastic experience: Got 2 ear piercings here on a Saturday afternoon. 30 minute wait, not bad considering its walk in only and was a Saturday! The piercing process was quick, but not unpleasant. Would highly recommend Reds for your piercing needs.

Fantastic experience: after having a bad experience with my nose piercing last year (different place) I came here a few weeks ago and I’ve not had any trouble what so ever! (Buy the cleaning solution they provide… so easy to use) would certainly recommend, thank you girls ❤️

Positive experience: I had my helix pierced for the first time here about 2 months ago. I got it done with a hoop, which just wasn't healing at all after seven weeks. It was constantly getting knocked and disturbed as well as developing a horrendously painful bump. I came back last week to have the piercing checked and they recommended swapping it out for a bar/stud. In their words "It tends to heal better with a bar". Why didn't they tell me this initially?!! For a "professional" piercing place, they should at least have given me a disclaimer that it wouldn't heal as well with a hoop. Just one day into my jewelry being swapped and it's already barely hurting and getting knocked so much less! To think I could have saved all the pain I've gone through over the last seven weeks with a hoop.... I certainly won't be rushing back here for future piercings

Negative experience: everything was ok except they put a clear plastic barbell with metal balls in my piercing. Its terrible for a new piercing and it can cause rejection a lot easier. I dont understand why they would do that. Very unprofessional.

Fantastic experience: Just got my navel re pierced and my lobes the staff were lovely and talked me trough everything reassuring me that the would know what to do if i passed out like i had at another parlour. Everything went smoothly and no discomfort at all :)

Fantastic experience: this is my fourth time getting tattooed at red's by the wonderful hannah :) she always talks me through everything and makes sure i'm happy. her art is so cool and always exactly what i was imagining. she's so bubbly and welcoming, and always does an amazing job. the whole place has a really safe atmosphere and the staff are all lovely. i'll definitely be back soon :)

Negative experience: Not satisfied at all got my piercing done wrong not once but twice what a joke

Negative experience: All three of my friends and me had our piercings done here. One got a tragus, one got a helix, one got a lobe and I got my belly done. Five months later they’re all still infected. One friend is on antibiotics from this place. AVOID AT ALL COSTS

Fantastic experience: got tattooed by Hannah and she was absolutely lovely! it was my first tattoo and she was brilliant while i figure out if i wanted linework or shading and with my placement changes. she made me feel super comfy and we had a great chats :)) thank you <3

Fantastic experience: Had the most amazing experience today at Reds. I was tattooed by the lovely Hannah. She talked through the whole process down to the finest detail. Even what type of shading etc. She was so patient while I worked out where I wanted it and was super helpful with advice. I will definitely be going back!

Fantastic experience: Came to Red for a dermal piercing in my forearm. I knew someone who also came here many reason ago to have a dermal in their neck so trusted them to do a quality job. I love it. The staff we friendly and comforting. Definitely recommend

Positive experience: Had my helix pierced today and have not had my ears pierced for a number of years. Used Red because of recommendation and the piercing looks good but got to say staff were not friendly (slightly rude even) and felt rushed throughout the appointment. Think I will try somewhere else next time where the staff make me feel at ease.
