Fantastic experience: I'm SO FRIKIN HAPPY with my FIRST ever tattoo thanks to the amazing Rebecca!!! I was just meandering around the city poking my head into studios, and this was the third one I went in and the most welcoming and friendly one!! The atmosphere was really nice, I didn't feel intimidated at all, and they were so approachable and easy to talk to!! Rebecca is so kind and pays so much attention to your needs! I felt so safe and taken care of. She offered water, snacks, and talked me through the whole process without rushing or forcing anything. You can tell she genuinely cares about giving you a great experience which is what I got!! I feel like alot of tattoo artists can do a great tattoo but not everyone has the ability to provide such a safe and wonderful experience :) She was also super gentle with the application and the tattoo turned out ABSOLUTELY STUNNING!!! The only thing I regret is not coming in sooner!!! Can't wait to go back!!

Negative experience: I recently came in with a friend for a helix piercing appointment at 5:00 PM. I first want to say that I genuinely appreciated the willingness to squeeze us in close to closing time. That flexibility was very kind and did not go unnoticed. However, I did want to share some feedback about the experience itself. During the appointment, I felt that the cleaning of the area was very brief. As a nurse, proper skin preparation and sterility are extremely important to me, and the preparation felt shorter than what I would typically consider ideal. This left me feeling a bit uneasy. In addition, I felt somewhat unwelcomed during the appointment. There was minimal communication, and the interaction felt rushed. I understand that it was the end of the day, and I would have completely understood if rebooking had been necessary. However, since we were invited to come in at 5:00 PM, I expected the appointment to feel a bit more thorough and attentive. I do appreciate that aftercare instructions were briefly reviewed, which was helpful. My intention in writing is not to complain, but to provide honest feedback about how the experience felt from a client’s perspective.

Negative experience: I went in to get my girlfriends piecing changed and the guy who was doing it was yarding on her noise to the point where she cried and was squeezing my hand as tight as she could I’ve gone in with her countless times and she has never done either of those things. Would not recommend going here.

Fantastic experience: I have always had a pleasant experience here. Rebecca helped me with my hand tattoo twice now and is always friendly and gives helpful recommendations to get the vision perfect. She always makes sure you're comfortable and not in too much pain and is very considerate. Thanks Rebecca!! :)

Fantastic experience: came here for my 18th birthday to get tattooed by rebecca, it’s an absolutely amazing shop, clean and comfy with good music :) she did the most amazing job at making sure i was comfortable and not in pain and took her time in making sure the tat was high quality. thank you so much again rebecca you did an amazing job!!

Fantastic experience: Got my nose pierced by Sasha and it’s perfect! My piercing was handled with care and I was also given some after-care instructions and helpful tips. Everyone I interacted with there was very helpful and welcoming!! I will definitely be going back!

Negative experience: Really negative experience with one of the tattoo artists here. Giving 2 stars vs 1 simply because the other staff seemed nice. During a walk in appointment for matching tattoos, my friend and I were paired with Max and it did not go well. The energy was off from the start as he was being very cocky about how great he is and also seemed annoyed to take a walk-in. He then drew up the design, we gave zero feedback or changes to his work. We asked for the fish to be staggered and that seemed to annoy him greatly. While placing the stencil, she asked for it re-placement (the 1st time asking) and he huffed and said “I’m on my doing this one more time” as if we had asked for several replacements. Imagine asking for the soon-to-be permanent tattoo to be shifted over slightly and that being received so poorly. He then got so annoyed with us that he asked if we wanted to cancel the booking to which we were honestly happy with because I couldn’t fathom having that man tattoo us.

Fantastic experience: Went in for a walk in and Nina was able to get me in that day, and she fully delivered on my vision! 100% recommend, very happy with the experience. Thanks again

Fantastic experience: This is my second tattoo at Red Lantern and my first from Max. He was so amazing to work with start to finish. Listened to what I was looking for and surpassed my expectations. He took his time making sure it was perfect. The colours are stunning and so well done. It was comfortable all the way along. I will 100% be back and will 100% recommend him ro anyone looking for a tattoo.

Fantastic experience: I had an incredibly positive experience with Rebecca yesterday. She did a finger tattoo touch up for me, which are not easy to do! She really took her time and her amount of care was very obvious. She was knowledgable and very transparent with the nature of this kind of tattoo. She also consistently checked in with me, making sure I liked her work. She drastically improved my tattoo with a tedious stick and poke technique. I really appreciated her willingness to do this for me :)

Fantastic experience: Honestly amazing experience with Rebecca! I walked in and she was able to accommodate me right away, helped me figure out the design and perfected the placement. You can tell she really cares about her clients and what she does. She is very skilled with fine line tattoos as well which is hard to find. I have gone to various studios in Victoria but will definitely be returning to red lantern in the future. Highly recommend!!

Negative experience: To start off I would like to say we didn’t actually receive any tattoo services from them so this review is not on their skills or the quality of the work. On Saturday we went in for a walk in appointment We were told that it’s better if Rebecca does fine line tattoos and she could potentially do it in an hour So we decided to wait After about an hour and 40minutes we were told that she is still not done and gonna do an additional touch up on her client Which by all means is fine and no tattoo appointment should be rushed But to constantly tell your costumers you are almost done just for them to wait 20 then 30 then 40 minutes is just not fair since if this information was communicated with us (for instance saying it would potentially take longer than an hour and closer to two hours) then we could decide whether we wanted to sit two hours of our weekend waiting However we told them we couldn’t wait any longer and had to leave (which please keep in mind we didn’t complain about because it was just not worth it to ruin their day as these things happen, times are approximate) However the next day we decided to give them another shot since Rebecca herself seemed really sweet, so this time we called beforehand asking weather Rebecca was available at the moment and the girl asked how far away are you which we responded with we are only a few minutes drive away she then said yes she can keep a spot for us 3minutes drive later and after we have paid for a 2hour parking We walk in the store for the girl at the front desk to tell us she miscommunicated on the phone (mind you she hanged up the phone before my sister could even ask her anything else) and Rebecca had not only one but two clients and we could wait for 2hours or so After we told them we just called and drove here and paid for parking We were given a “oh noo” as a response without a simple apology That being said, we will not be going back there and will definitely not recommend it As there exists no respect or even the bare costumer service

Fantastic experience: 10/10! My friend and I stopped in to see if we could get walk in tattoos last night 20 minutes before closing with our fingers crossed we could get in. Everyone was so friendly and happy to make time for us. Max not only made time to tattoo both of us, but also gave me a larger tattoo than originally planned and did it free hand! The tattoos turned out incredible and we were so happy with our experience. We will absolutely be back and I would recommend this shop to anyone. Thank you thank you thank you!

Negative experience: I can't say it was overly impressed with the service. My daughter went in for just a simple ear lobe piercing. The artist was late for the appt, walked in the door and went to his station, put his gloves on without even washing his hands, then touched all the surfaces with the same pair of gloves that pierced her ears with. I was surprised to see the jewelry that was used were studded earrings, as in the past, hoops had been used, ( that's why we went to a proper profession and not the malls) he did not provide us with a paper of how to care for the piercing and his speal was super fast and made us feel like...here you go and leave.

Fantastic experience: I recently got my tattoo done by Rebecca, the owner, and I have also had piercings done by Sasha, Rebecca’s son. Both of them are absolutely incredible! They’re super knowledgeable and always answer any questions you might have. They’re also incredibly gentle and patient, making sure you leave feeling completely satisfied. I’m a huge fan of this place and the amazing energy I feel there. If you’re ever thinking of getting a tattoo or piercing, I highly recommend checking them out!

I showed him pictures of things that I wanted, but I also wanted to ensure that he had creative freedom to surprise me with his his own style and expression, as I am as far from an artist as it gets. I had seen examples of his work of course, and I absolutely loved his style. Max’s art on my leg makes me smile every single day, I keep seeing his techniques and mind-blowing style the more I look, and I also get compliments from other people about I constantly. She was the sweetest, gentlest, kindest tattoo artist with a vision to create a cute simple tattoo for me and later my best friend. I highly recommend Red Lantern Tattoo. Along with Max, Nina, and Rebecca. If you are in ChinaTown don’t be afraid to walk in and talk to them. Be their canvas. They are amazing artists!

I described which elements I wanted, and allowed him a lot of creative freedom and trust which I am so glad I did. When it came to the point of approving drawings, I was very happy with them and excited for the process. I didn't know the amount of depth and detail I was going to receive, and I am beyond happy with the results. This leg piece was done over several months, we are now planning additions and another piece. Also! The owner of Red Lantern is a wonderful human, so welcoming and thoughtful. Fantastic experience: Red Lantern Tattoo has it all! The space is cozy, atmospheric, and clean, and everyone I interacted with was kind and welcoming. Each artist in there is impressive, but I was smitten with Rebecca's style from the moment I opened her book. She was able to get me in during my short stay in Victoria, and created a beautiful little piece based off two of her flash designs that I couldn't decide between. The tattoo process itself was SO comfortable, and her attention to detail is stellar. My only regret is that I don't live closer! I cannot recommend her and this shop enough.

This was my first tattoo so I was nervous, but Rebecca was really beyond fantastic. She explained everything to me and was so kind and patient. She really cares about the people who go through the shop and worked with me to get the perfect tattoo. The line work on my little whale is impeccable and I love it more every time I look at it. Fantastic experience: Popped into this shop with a friend for an unplanned tattoo. It was close to closing so I was just going for a flash. Nina came out to discuss my idea and helped me decide on the most amazing design. She stayed open way past closing to finish and was just so sweet and helpful. Very happy with my whole experience here. Everyone was top notch professional and friendly. I felt like one of the family by the time I left. 10/10 definitely will be back!

Fantastic experience: I reached out to Nina short notice to inquire about matching tattoos for myself and 2 friends. She was so happy and kind to deal with before the tattoo. I went in there wanting a scorpion (specifically fine line). Nina was that artist that did this tattoo. She truly turned my vision into a reality, better than I could have ever anticipated. She proved that she is an amazing artist with this piece. The shading and the detail of the fine line is just great, and the overall design/flow of the piece is beautiful. Also not to mention that she did this piece in just 3 hours! The staff and other artists were also very kind and it was a very chill environment. I could not recommend this place enough. Anyone in the Victoria area should seriously consider Red Lantern if they want a sick piece for a great price.
