Colibri Tattoo and Piercing (Downtown Montreal)

When you visited us with your son, the studio was experiencing a high volume of clients, which resulted in an estimated wait time of, at minimum, one hour for service. During busy periods we maintain a waiting list and serve clients in chronological order to ensure the process remains fair for everyone. At the time you approached reception, you had not yet been called because it was not yet your turn.

There may also have been a misunderstanding regarding our identification policy. For any piercing performed on a minor, we require valid identification from both the child and their parent or legal guardian. While a lobe piercing may seem minor compared to other services such as tattoos, it is still a procedure that involves opening the skin. It is not a procedure without inherent risk. Because of this, we take every step necessary to ensure the safety and proper procedure of our clients—especially when a child is involved.

We understand that this situation may have been frustrating or disappointing, and we sincerely apologize if the interaction came across as accusatory in any way. Our staff member’s intention was simply to explain that requiring identification for both the minor and the parent or guardian is a standard practice followed by reputable studios.

It’s in our practices that we always try to advise based on what’s in our clients’ best interest, especially when it comes to body piercings, which can be highly anatomy-dependent. In some cases, our team members may recommend against certain piercings as trained if the anatomy isn’t ideal for long-term healing due to factors like shallow or collapsed/ closed navel shapes.
However, I want to make it very clear that it is never our practice nor intention to judge anyone based on anatomy. I sincerely apologize on behalf of the team if you felt this way during your visit or if it made you feel disrespected in any way.
