Expérience négative: I came to get my septum done around mid November and all the staff were super kind and helpful. The reason I am writing this review is because the jewelry they had pierced me with was used to stretch a septum that’s already been healed (I was pierced with a 14g when it should’ve been done with a 16g). After the piercer had finished my septum I asked if it was the standard size for a septum and he confirmed. I had given it until after Christmas to partially heal then I went to another shop to change the jewelry and they had told me it was unethical for them to pierce me with this size of jewelry especially for a infection prone area like a septum. Do not recommend for piercings but they do amazing tattoos.

Expérience fantastique: I cannot recommend Wes and the team at Gypsy Rose enough. As a first-timer, I was incredibly nervous heading into my initial consultation, but Wes immediately put me at ease. Even though my ideas were a bit vague, he had an incredible ability to translate my vision into a stunning piece of art. When he showed me the stencil, it was exactly what I wanted—only better. What started as a single concept evolved into a masterpiece across three sessions and twelve hours of work. The level of detail and skill Wes brings to the table is truly world-class. A few things that stood out: Communication: The shop was fantastic at responding to my questions and concerns via email quickly and professionally. Atmosphere: The environment is welcoming and friendly from the moment you walk through the door. Artistry: Wes didn't just "do a tattoo"; he created a piece of art that I’m proud to wear. The shop itself is very nice. Great layout. Clean and professional from the lobby to the back. EDIT: Stopped by in mid October and got a 90 minute tatoo done by WES. What a fantastic artist! Really enjoyable experience. Absolutely love my tattoo! Thanks Wes for my USHER tattoo! I will definitely be back!

Expérience fantastique: Got my nose piercing done here and I’m really impressed! The staff was super friendly and made me feel comfortable throughout the process. The place was spotless and very clean, which made the whole experience even better. Highly recommend if you’re thinking about getting a nose piercing!

Expérience positive: The place is cute and clean, and the staff are pretty friendly, but I have my tongue pierced there in the bar. All they used was under 20 mm. I’m told that they should’ve used a 22 mm. I now have a very deep nesting spot where my tongue ring sits, and I had to order a longer barbell to allow for the swelling, it was extremely painful for the first week. The bar was so uncomfortable. I changed it after three days. I ordered something off-line so I didn’t have to go back to the tattoo shop. I called them to see how long the barbell was and she said without seeing it they couldn’t be sure but was pretty sure it was a 19.5 mm. I didn’t even know they came in .5’s. I wish they would use the proper jewellery because I would’ve gave them a five star rating.

We totally messed up before and forgot out ids but everyone was so understanding and found another time to fit us in I was really worried about the pain and stressed out but it barely hurt for a second. And the placement is perfect. Genuinely amazing experience, I will definitely go back if I want to do anything more!

I went in to Gypsy Rose and spoke to Dominique, I asked her to fix it. What she did is amazing. She made my tattoo into something I am proud to show. I will send everyone and anyone here. The work she did is phenomenal there are no words to describe what she did on my tattoo. She took something I hated and turned it into something I am proud to show off. Expérience fantastique: For my Daughter’s 16th birthday and a present for her getting her drivers license today, she got her navel pierced at Gypsy Rose. The piercer who did the piercing was named Emily, she did such a fantastic job explaining to my daughter what she was going to do and how she was going to be doing it. The piercing went extremely well, even after my daughter stood up and felt lightheaded, and almost fell to the ground, lol. Emily was fantastic and very caring for my daughter. Expérience négative: I came here to get an industrial piercing done with my sister and friend September of 2020. The experience was fun but my piercing was not done properly and everything that could go wrong with it did. I went back about 2 times after and got the jewelry swapped out thinking that would help. The swelling did go down. Due to the second part of the piercing being too close to my head I cannot wear my face mask or sunglasses without it hurting over a year later. I also have some scare tissue on the inner side of my ear. I finally managed to take the jewelry out this morning as it got infected once again and the pain immediately stopped. It is still very swollen. I don't think I'll be putting any jewelry back in. The people who work here are lovely, I think that they need a more educated piercer though. When I went I got mine done by a girl then the 2 times after was a man. I don't know who works there now or if the same people still but I don't know if I'd recommend getting pierced here.

Expérience fantastique: Wes, I can’t recommend him enough. I got my first tattoo from him in 2019 and since then I am only seeing him whenever I want more tattoos. My recent experience was again 5/5, and I got a touch up almost for 45 minutes free of cost, which shows how much he cares about customer satisfaction. Wes is super quick and very professional. If anyone planning to get their first tattoo, this is your guy. Thanks again, Wes. Moreover, the front desk is super helpful as well, they make sure your needs are met and advise you according. I loved the way that Emily took her time, and she let me know every time she was doing something. She followed all hygiene and sanitary protocols. I was very pleased with Emily overall! And I was very happy to have my nose ring back on! We also inquired about future tattoos with a staff member in the front, she was very friendly, and she provided us with lots of helpful information regarding the process, so I’m sure we’ll be back here soon in the near future!

Expérience fantastique: I got snake bites done here back in May of 2022. The service I received was wonderful, and the piercer did an amazing job, I wish I could remember her name to give her proper recognition! When I had finished the actual piercing I started feeling a bit feint for some reason and my piercer quickly sat me back down and got me some juice and small candies to help and just talked with me to get my mind off it until I felt better. Pretty soon after the appointment when I had one of my beads unscrew and get lost while at work (not due to the fault of the company or the piercer), I called them about it and they were able to get me booked in quite quickly and even had my original piercer available to help replace the bead free of charge since it was so soon after the original piercing appointment. I would have been fine with paying if needed but it was greatly appreciated! My piercings have healed up amazingly and I have had no issues with them so far. The placement is perfect, and they turned out exactly how I wanted them to. I think I paid around $200-300 for the piercing and jewelry together but I believe the price was well worth it for the result and the service. The facility was very comfortable and everyone working there seemed to enjoy what they do, which made it a great environment for someone new to piercing/tattoo places. I will definitely be coming back in the future for any piercings and would look into the tattoo artists when I decide to get a tattoo at some point. I highly recommend coming in with them for piercings, and while I can’t speak a lot on tattoos, I would recommend checking them out as well!

Expérience fantastique: It’s been a month since Lucas did my helix piercing. All the other holes in my ears came by way of a hairdressers gun. Lucas was brilliant and walked me through my first professional piercing answering my questions, pointing out my anatomy and why it would be difficult. Every step he explained, was patient and answered my questions. I’ve followed his aftercare instructions and aside from some minor bleeding the first couple days (from rolling over in my sleep) it’s been great. My ear is healing well, I’ve had no issues with the jewelry and I was happy with the cleanliness of the shop. While living a teenage fantasy brought me this piercing, I know that when I’m ready for the next one I’ll be back to see Lucas. As an aside as someone with a few tattoos I watched while I waited and both artists working in the shop were operating in a great manor. Clean, honest, friendly and accepting. When I’m ready for new ink I’ll be back here in a heartbeat.

Expérience négative: In October I went to get my first eyebrow piercing! They told me that after 12 weeks I could change my ring. I came back 3 months later because it was too swollen, I had a black eye and it bled every time I disinfected it! and they told me it was normal? I don't like the attention when I return, they never called to follow up and to top it all off the man barely looked me in the eye. It's been over 4 months and it still looks horrible! So clearly I'll go check somewhere else! I don't know how normal it is but I'll go check somewhere else.

Expérience négative: I had to process what happened when I went in for a piercing appointment on the drive home because it was frustratingly confusing. There was a smile on the girl’s face, but every word coming out of her mouth was rude and condescending. We have a saying where I come from; ‘stepping on someone’s tongue’ to describe when someone refuses to let you finish your question before answering. I tried to explain to her I had a piercing before but the piercer accidentally pricked the soft bone in my nose which I accidentally referred to as a cartilage and she wouldn’t even let me explain what I was trying to say. Not to mention when I asked about the hook ring which is known to easily pop out when there’s swelling making it a horrible choice for a first piercing. In the end, I decided to get pierced somewhere else. I don’t understand what benefits any service provider gains by rushing the customer and speaking to them in a very passive aggressive manner.

Expérience fantastique: Had my nose pierced here and it was a great experience. I’ve had trouble finding somewhere to do it with a hoop as the other ones don’t stay in, they did it with a hoop for me and I was ecstatic. Unfortunately I recently had it fall out after 1.5 years and will be coming back to have it redone!

Just take a look at how she replies to bad reviews on here.. what a miserable person who clearly cannot take any criticism about her business if her life depended on it. Amazes me that she still had clientele and is up and running.

Expérience négative: This shop keeps getting my reviews deleted, but I have been here multiple times and have receipts, as well as literal tattoos on my body and piercings to prove it Wow, where do I even start.. First off, every time I’m in this store I feel get bad vibes and feel very unsafe. This store is highly unprofessional and the vibes inside are awful. They have "YYCs friendliest shop" in their social media bio yet are filled with many very rude and judgemental staff who do not deserve their jobs one bit and also don't know how to do it right. I have personally seen the staff talk badly about customers in front of me, which is completely inappropriate. But let me go into detail for you.. I was there to book an appointment with one of my friends, and there was another customer being helped by another staff at the front desk while we were there, when the other customer left, Dominique and Lucas proceeded to call her the not so nice way of a name for a female dog, and said other rude things about her, right as we were standing there. At my very last appointment with this shop before I decided to quit coming here, the shop owner, Nina, was talking badly about a former employee, Ryan, in front of myself and other customers. I, along with many others see this as very unprofessional and weird. Nina should NOT own a shop if this is the way she acts and at the very least, save the chatty gossip and cruel words for the break room, not to say in front of customers. I've gone to see both Lucas and Sarah for piercings multiple times and let me tell you, they are the worst piercers I've ever been pierced by. Lucas pierced my septum, but he pierced it through the cartilage, not the 'sweet spot' where it should be. It was super low, rested on top of my top tip and just rested near my bottom lip, and was uncomfortable in general. I came into the shop to see if I could get a refund or have it redone, but they fought me on the fact it was done properly, which any quick research can show you it was 100% not. It did not heal and I took it out. Wasted $100. Went to see a more reputable piercer a year later, in which I showed them photos of the previous piercings, they confirmed it was not done right and that repierced it properly for me free of charge. I've only gotten a lobe piercing done by Sarah, but that doesn't change the fact she is one of the most unkind people I've ever met, she has an all around awful attitude and gives the shops 100% more bad vibes then it already has. Based on looking at her portfolio and social media, she does not pierce septums properly either. They also do not downsize their jewelry, which is very unfortunate since their jewelry is already very bulky. I had my tongue pierced with Lucas and the original bar was long to accommodate for swelling, which is 100% understandable and the proper thing needed for a fresh piercing, but after I waited the suggested recovery period, I went in to change my jewelry since the bar was long and hit my teeth, Lucas told me they "don't do that here", and leaving it resulted in the need of dental fillings. Take your business elsewhere if you're looking get any and all services by done Sarah, Lucas, Dominique or Nina, I promise you these people don't deserve your time or money. I have decided to remain anonymous because I have concerns for my safety with them having my information.

Expérience fantastique: A little background. I have a whole bottom, shin/calf tattoo it was absolutely awful. For years I would not wear shorts or dress. I searched several tattoo shops looking for the right person to do a full cover up of my tattoo, NOT an easy task. I found Gypsy Rose after going to 7 highly recommended shops. Nina took the challenge and has done such an amazing job. We are 3/4 completed. She listened to me, gave me her insight and professional opinion. (Lots) of sitting hours in this establishment which has allowed me to watch other artist’s. I have also received work from Darryle and currently working on an arm tattoo from him. I am absolutely pleased with the art work I have received. From both Nina and Darryle. I am very particular and a bit OCD Not a nightmare kind of client but definitely a bit picky. I have only encountered friendly and respectful staff that have absolutely cared about me and my spouse whom I referred to this place of business. They are family friendly, very clean, sanitary, professional and most of all, they have become a part of our family story. I would recommend anyone that works here as they are all very talented artists. I will come back and update with photos once my work has been completed. I absolutely love wearing a dress, shorts and a bathing suit with confidence that my cover work looks beautiful now.

If the reviews don't speak, then why don't you all notice how they say they are the friendliest place but in comments when they have messed up with others, they just blame them instead of saying we will do better or come in so we can fix the issue It's always we keep meticulous notes but do they? Look at some of the names... they aren't even names and for some reason they can determine who's who? Rude employees rude management and the name should say it all and if it doesnt then just google the name alone

Expérience négative: Abousoutly terrible and unsanitary environment and piercings. I came in to get a nose piercing about 2 weeks ago. I came in with 4 personal studs so I wouldn’t have to pay for one from them. I brought 4 because someone had previously told me about how they try to persuade and make excuses for you to buy from them. When I came in and should the pier all 4 the pier said no to all 4 of them and gave different excuses for all them.(saying some would just fall of easily) the pier was saying how some of them would just fall out right away so eventually I gave in and just bought one from them. (She said theirs’ for sure had no chance of falling off.) A few days later it came right off in my sleep leaving a huge bump. I followed all after care protocols and still got a huge bump. The bump was as a result of inflection my doctor said. So I was inflected when I paid over $80 for a nose piercing… Today call them and let them know what had happened, and the lady on the phone was so unprofessional and told me I was lying . She kept referring to me as “bro” and kept saying “bro your lying!” She accused me of taking out myself which i did not and said if i want it repierced or put back in they would have to recharge me. $80 just wasted down the drain and they want me to pay again….. DO NOT GO HERE if you care about your health. Step 1 is writing this review to see if they will put it back in without having to pay again. If not, then I will be contacting the health department so they can give this company a lesson about sanitation and just being clean and so they can also investigate and bring public awareness of my case. I will go back tomorrow if I’m helped I will delete this review because at least they have some customer service. As for now I’m signing off. RESPONSE TO OWNER: As you guys can see my point has been exactly proven, and this is by the owner of the buisness. They keep saying that I am lying to them and that I somehow for whatever reason decided to take off the jewelry on my own. This doesn’t even make sense… Them accusing me of lying is just outrageous and shameful and shows the kind of people that run this business. “You removed the jewelry after two weeks” is what the owner said. I don’t live with the owner i don’t know any of them personally so them making such accusations for their mistake is just ridiculous. I called the shop because I was worried about the bump and they kept rudely hanging up and I’m harassing? Being concerned because of an infection they gave me is now harassment ? AHS definitely does not praise the sanitation at this shop because if they did they wouldn’t be infecting customers while piercing. THANK GOD i just asked for a piercing and not a tattoo. I can only imagine the infections they give from tattooing people. (Also it wasn’t me that wrote the other reviews so stop copying snd pasting your response to me for everyoneI only wrote this one, I’m not the only one that is dissatisfied with your buisness…)

Expérience négative: Didn’t love how unclear prices were when online booking had to pay a lot more when I was actually there. Not a big deal. I was more just uncomfortable and unhappy with the pricing experience. I got my belly button done and the guy who did it was just not kind or welcoming at all. He wasn’t even who I had originally booked with. He wasn’t very open to questions. My belly button didn’t heal correctly and I ended taking it out.

Expérience fantastique: Had my nose pierced here, the place was nice and tidy. Staff was all super nice and attentive. They even let me bring a friend to hold my hand. The atmosphere was very nice, very welcoming. Prices here were also very decent. Emily had done my left nostril and she did wonderful.

Expérience fantastique: Absolutely phenomenal service and atmosphere. I was terrified to get my nose pierced and they made me feel so comfortable and welcome. They answered all my questions and made sure I knew exactly what I needed to do! I totally recommend this place and I will be returning for all future piercings!

Expérience négative: I usually never review something however I strongly felt the need to do so in this case. I booked my second tattoo with Gypsy and was looking forward to it. However we are under a heavy snowfall warning in the city which started the night before. The roads are bad and it was not going to let up anytime soon. My appointment was scheduled for 2pm and the shop was not going to open until 12pm, so I text the artist at 9am, explaining if it was possible to reschedule due to weather conditions. The artist asked for which date and no problem. My daughter then called the store right when they opened to advise of such for which we were told we would lose the deposit as we needed to give minimum of 72 hrs notice. This is unacceptable. It was NOT my choice to cancel, the roads where I live are too slick and not advisable to drive. I should NOT be penalized!!! Hell even their website states that " life happens and we will accommodate you as best we can". Unfortunately I will NEVER be booking with them again! It's too bad too because I was really looking forward to getting my tattoo done!

Expérience négative: Hands down one of the worst piercing experiences I have ever received. Really debated making a comment on this but back in February I visited this shop to get a helix piercing. The piercer questioned me several times as to why I was wearing a mask and if I was sick. Which made me extremely uncomfortable. Then he informed me that I should get a hoop piece of jewelry for my helix (which I had never heard of to start off with) because it will lay flat? During the piercing process he talked about why he did not want to do the job he was doing and how he wanted to get out of it. (Great attitude while being in a vulnerable space with someone) The jewelry he chose to put in my ear was so huge and then about a few weeks later it became so irritated even with proper after care that I decided to just take it out altogether. I have my nipples pierced, ears, belly button, nose, lip and none of these irritations or experiences ever happened with my other piercings. $60 down the drain and I do not even reside in Calgary so I could not go back to get a refund or some sort of compensation. I highly recommend not going here. Also the store name is just odd.

Expérience fantastique: As an out of towner I was looking for somewhere to get my second ear lobe piercing. I was pleased to find this place and receive such prompt and comfortable service. It is very clear the folk here know what they’re doing! My ears are healing quickly and it looks great. I’d definitely get another piercing from here when I’m back in town.

Expérience fantastique: I’ve gotten three piercings here now. Every time I go they’re caring, take their time and make sure I know what I am getting myself into. They also take their work very seriously so they don’t let you do things like tiny dainty jewelry right off the hop, which isn’t conducive to healing anyway. If you want it done right, Gypsy Rose is the place you need to go! 10/10 recommend. I will definitely go back if/when I want more! The best part is, if anything goes wrong, you just head back to them and they’ll fix you up. Even if you need help putting in new jewelry or anything like that! Awesome service :)

Expérience fantastique: Online booking is easy to use. Staff is friendly. The space is very clean and sanitary. Music and movies were playing, so it’s a very relaxed welcoming feel. I went for a daith and conch piercing. I felt comfortable and safe the entire time. Their aftercare instructions were clear and I had no issues while my piercing healed. I wish they had more variety of jewelry at the time of my visit.

Staff were friendly, the piercers were knowledgeable and made recommendations based on what was best for my well being. I called and came in a few times when I was having reactions (not related to the piercing but I thought it was) and they were always very attentive, kind and patient, despite my never ending concerns lmao. Piercing has been holding up great thus far. Definitely recommend. ☺

Expérience négative: 8 weeks ago I was pierced by Sarah, this is my first ever piercing and I went to get my septum done. I did not get to choose what size I was pierced with, and the gauge she used is insanely big for my nose and face and is now migrating (my septum is rejecting the piercing) due to the weight of it. If I could get my money back I'd jump at that opportunity, I am unhappy and in an immense amount of pain. The piercing also starts in my sweet spot and ends in my cartilage. Afterwards, I got no information other than "clean it with saline solution" , she seemed rather annoyed by my questions UPDATE- it's been a year and my septum is so deviated I can't get another piercing im getting extreme keloids. Sarah should not be piercing.

Expérience fantastique: I went with some friends and got my very first piercings yesterday. It was an amazing experience! Gypsy Rose is so clean, everyone is so friendly! Sarah, who did my piercings was so friendly and explained everything in such such a nice and clear way. I was made to be as comfortable and welcome as possible. I love my new piercings, and when I can afford to, I will be back for more, I promise!

Expérience négative: Can’t comment on the tattoo part of the company but really disappointed with the piercer. I went in to get a vertical labret done. When she went to pierce it, she didn’t go all the way through the first time so had to push it through again. Once done, I told her it looked crooked- she said it looks perfect to her and it’s probably just the swelling. She told me if I was unhappy with it once the swelling went down I could go back and get it fixed. Got home, looked in the mirror and it was incredibly obvious that it was really crooked- it looked ridiculous- and my lip wasn’t swollen at all. I ended up taking it out that same day. Such a waste of money. (Sure I could have gone back to get it fixed but had zero confidence in the piercer at that point so why would I go back) I’ve heard great things about the quality of tattoos though and the shop is inviting and super clean! If you are looking for a piercing though I’d go elsewhere.

Expérience fantastique: Went in for a nose piercing and had a great experience. I’ve reacted to jewelry from other piercing studios before due to it being not pure titanium, but i’ve had no troubles with my nose ring from here. To my surprise my piercing healed within 2 weeks! They have great prices compared to other studios in the area. Everyone was super kind and helpful. Studio was clean. I’m excited for my next visit :)

Expérience négative: This shop is really good don't get me wrong I just had a bad experience with one of the piercing apprentices. I came in to have my nipple pierced for the second time. I had an issue with the first one so I went to get it re done. Even though this girl could see that my other one was pierced straight, she ended up making my second one very much crooked. And it drives me crazy. I didn't realized at first and that's on me. assumed it was fine after my last good experience. Went home and realized how bad it was. I didn't know what to do and once it was done it was done and I didn't want to pay another time to have it done AGAIN I'm not sure she managed to make it so off centre..

Expérience fantastique: Had my rook piercing done here and I had a great experience! My piercer was friendly and informative throughout the process and the shop was very clean. He gave me the option to alter the placement of the piercing and kept me distracted with conversation throughout the piercing process which I really appreciated. The aftercare instructions were also clear and detailed. I personally felt like the jewelry pricing was a little questionable I’m not going to lie, but overall I’d still recommend this shop to anyone looking for a new piercing and a solid experience.

Expérience fantastique: My partner had been wanting a nostril piercing for forever, so we visited here as a Christmas present. Great experience. First appointment was cancelled due to the artist being sick (totally understandable) and very glad we rescheduled. Great prices and an amazing piercing specialist. Expérience négative: Please read this before you consider doing your ear piercing here. Did my Tragus back in March 2021 and man… it never healed; it bubbled up and it was piercing with a very big piercing so never got used to it. Went to get it checked a year later because that’s not normal and the other place I went to told me it was pierced unevenly, the piercing was way too big and should never be used as a first time piercing! Till this day it has not healed because it was pierced unevenly so there is a chance it will never heal. Please if this can save someone; find somewhere else.
