Negative experience: Wasn’t originally going to leave a review but here is the email I sent and received no response. I wanted to reach out and inform you of my experience getting pierced on Wednesday 12/31/25. I came in for a double forward helix piercing which unfortunately didn’t work out well. The first one was put in and then with the second one the piercer seemed to really be struggling to attach the ball and when she accidentally knocked the earring out of my ear I started bleeding pretty profusely. I asked her to not even worry about putting it back in id prefer to just leave with the one as I became slightly concerned at that point. The bleeding did stop after about 15 minutes of pressure. After I got home I was able to take a good look at the piercing that I did in fact leave with and it did not look right to me. After many opinions I now realize that I was pierced by someone highly unqualified. I would encourage you to refer them for more training and take the quality of work more seriously than what I ended up with. Thankfully they are only piercings and they will heal but in hindsight there were many things wrong. No introduction, no consultation, nothing about what jewelry I was looking for, nothing about aftercare. My only questions that were answered were the ones I asked. I’ve been told by other professionals that the piercing was way too shallow, pierced at an incorrect angle, and the wrong jewelry was used. I ended up taking it out right away to avoid further damage but I cannot believe I ended up paying for what I got done. This was a piercing I looked forward to for 5+ years and it’s sad it ended up this way. I also left with blood all over my shirt and now am wondering if there could’ve been something covering me to prevent that from even happening, however in the grand scheme of things that is not the biggest deal. My main concern here is that you are aware of the work being done in your studio and hoping it will be taken seriously enough that others in the future have a better and more professional experience than I did.

Negative experience: Would absolutely not recommend this place for a piercing. - I was given no aftercare instructions. - For a lobe, butterfly back earrings were used (huge no no...). - There was no sanitary measures taken. - No towel put around your neck or anything; I just bled all over my shirt. The girl says "you're bleeding on your shirt by the way".. - My cartilage barbell ball back fell off less than 24 hours later (not normal...). I went back. I asked for a new ball since the other one was no longer sanitary as it fell on the floor. "We can't do that". Okay, can you put it in the autoclav? The girl says sure.... then immediately screws it on my ear. - I mentioned bloodborne disease transmission to my piercer. Her response? "I've never thought about that before". GREAT! - The girl never told me I would need to downsize my cartilage barbell in 4-6 weeks. Randomly found that out from a friend later. These girls who I met are WAYYY too inexperienced to be doing piercings. They clearly didn't have much education at all about safety, HIV or other blood-transmittable diseases, and lacked basic understanding of disinfection protocols. Pennsylvania desperately needs to regulate piercers. positives: My piercer was really sweet. She did a great job with placements for the lobes and the cartilage.

Fantastic experience: Amy was great as always! This was for my daughter’s first tattoo! Amy’s work is amazing! My daughter Sydney was extremely comfortable and very happy with her tattoo!! We would recommend her and the shop highly!

Negative experience: I was looking to get a few piercings done i contacted this company and I was advised that there would be a $50 deposit. I agreed to make the payment while I was still on the phone I asked about jewerly because I am sensitive and can only wear gold. The guy I spoke to advised me that they dont have gold. I then asked to not make the appointment and not to be charged due to the allergy. The guy was very rude and told me go get piercing somewhere else and never call them again or come to their shop. As a wife of business owner this is unacceptable business pratices. Being in the piercing industry they should understand the risks associated with allergies. I would never recommend this business to anyone.

Fantastic experience: I have been going to Amy for my tattoos for six years now. Her work is amazing. Amy is super cool, easy to talk with, and very patient. Her new studio is ultra clean and hip. I have recommended her to my girlfriend and her sister. They both love her work. Randy and the rest of the staff at The Pittsburgh Tattoo Studio are very nice. If you want an amazing tattoo that you'll be super proud to show off, then you should go see Amy!

Negative experience: Totally disappointment in how I was treated by the supposed owner.- believe his name was Randy. I call to pay, and discuss my appointment as I had a consultation the week before and was still unclear on what route we were going. As requested by the Artist, I emailed several pictures/ideas. She changed by appointment from 2 hours to 3 as we were unsure of what we were doing and she wanted to make sure there was enough time. When I called, I reviewed with the owner that I believe I was going smaller as I originally had booked and just asked if I could come at the time of my original appointment. He got very nasty, saying they booked 3 hours and now I want to come in later, so they can just sit there and wait for me and not go home! And proceeded to tell me that I said they forced me to change my appointment to 3 hours to didn't listen to my ideas. That IS NOT what I said!! We had idea's( as I had emailed per artist request) but nothing was decided on.) That he would just refund my money. I said that was not what I wanted and that I would come in at the changed appointment time. He said no he cancelled my appointment and was refunding my $. I asked to speak to the artist as I still wanted the tattoo and it depended on what the design was on where I would have it placed. He said are going to still pay for the 3 hours?! I said if that's what I have to do then I will. He said no, I no longer have an appointment and he refunded the money. I was very much looking forward to a tattoo from Amy in remembrance of my brother. Very disappointed on I was treated for no reason what so ever!!! Does anyone know the exact tattoo they are getting until they see the design?!?!

Fantastic experience: Got my first tattoo in celebration of my 60th birthday (Lady Justice, Scales of Justice, Rose Tattoo with my husband’s name, etc.) Got my second tattoo in celebration of my daughter. Amy is amazing! Tattoos hurt. Just accept that. But the pain was bearable and Amy is fast. Both took under 2 hours each. She took my designs to a new level. I would absolutely recommend Amy to anyone, and especially those who are getting their first tattoo.

Negative experience: Had a terrible experience getting my daughter’s ears pierced. The girl who did the piercing shook badly and took about 2 full minutes to pierce one earlobe and get the earring in. Had to watch my kid stay impaled on the needle while the piercer went across the room to get the earring then struggled to get it in. It was such a traumatizing experience that my kid refused to get the second ear pierced (and my partner and I weren’t going to let that happen again anyway). As we got ready to leave, she gave no aftercare instructions. We then tried to bring the matter to the attention of the shop owners so that no one would have to suffer the same experience, but were ignored and dismissed. Used to love getting tattoos here but never coming back again due to the incompetence and bad service.

Negative experience: Edited from a 5 star review. DO NOT GET A PIERCING HERE! Took my child to get her ears pierced and she left traumatized with only one ear pierced. The girl that did it was shaking so bad she could barely get the needle through and almost couldn't get the earring in. We had to remind her to put the back on the earring and were given no aftercare instructions. When questioned she said, "I have bad anxiety and my hands shake, it usually turns out okay." This is obviously not okay for someone in her profession. I tried unsuccessfully for two days to get ahold of an owner. When one finally called me back, he seemed annoyed and was rude. I have spent thousands of dollars at this shop on tattoos and will never spend another cent here.

Fantastic experience: Had my first tattoo done this past week by Amy at The Pittsburgh Tattoo Studio. The environment, professionalism, and quality of work were top notch! I highly recommend, as I will be getting more work done there again in the very near future!

Fantastic experience: I was looking for a tattooist with a background on art and I was recommended Amie at the Pittsburgh Tattoo Studio. I started googling best tattooist for fine line work in Pittsburgh and Pittsburgh Tattoo Studio kept coming up with recommendations about Amie at the studio, even when I asked CHATGPT. Last time I wanted fine line work I went all the way to Manhattan for this. After I was there the Times Square Tattoo Parlor let me know there are really good tattoo artists in Pittsburgh. I'm glad I listened to him because I was able to find Amie.

Fantastic experience: From my 1st review: I met with Amy the week before she started my tattoo. This is my first ever (I'm 67) and the tattoo will eventually go from wrist to shoulder. I wanted to do something in memory of the 17 pets I've had since I was a kid. I had a bunch of very complicated ideas and Amy boiled them all down to a cohesive and beautiful design. I've had one sitting and we got through 10 pets; and we'll finish up next week. It's been a great experience- I can't believe how beautiful this tattoo is. I have each pet's name on my arm in chronological order. The only regret I have is that I can't go sleeveless all year round! As I look at my arm, memories of my pets come rushing back to me. I can't wait until I get into the 2000's! (We stopped at Isabella who was adopted in 1998.) 2nd review: The tattoo is done! It is exactly what I wanted even though I didn't know this was what I wanted. The photos aren't the best and I'm still healing from my visit on July 8, but I don't think I could be happier with the end result! I added Sam, my pony, above my wrist even though he didn't leave paw prints on my heart. My shoulder has: "In loving memory of the ones who left paw prints on my heart". I know not every tattoo has to has a significant meaning but, for me, getting this tattoo has been extremely meaningful. I am so grateful I found Amy who created something beyond what I could have imagined.

Fantastic experience: My Second Review, I stated in my first review that Amy, my tattoo artist was simply GREAT and I would get my final tattoo done from her. This week I was true to my word, I went back and requested Amy. The tattoo was placed on my upper center back, I have admit it hurt like hell. I let a few grunts, groans, and some choice words. None were directed at Amy, it’s just having a tattoo placed over your spinal cord hurts. Amy kept me calm and did an excellent job, she is the best. My First Review Hello Everyone, I did my due diligent and research on Tattoo establishments here in Pittsburgh, I finally decided on Pittsburgh Tattoo Studio located at 2895 W Liberty Ave, Pittsburgh PA, (Dormont). Amy Ausiello was my Tattoo Artist, she did an awesome job. Amy has over 20 years of experience and it shows in her work and how she treats her clients. Before beginning she reviewed my choice of a tattoo to ensure the size and design were correct. During the entire process we talked about various topics which takes your mind off all those pokes from the needle. It took approximately one hour for my design, I was surprised when she said we are done. It seemed like minutes had only passed. The Studio is incredibly clean and very modern looking. I highly recommend Pittsburgh Tattoo Studio to anyone looking for a great tattoo. I am serious about my recommendation, I want one more tattoo. I will be returning to Pittsburgh Tattoo Studio, I will request Amy as my Tattoo Artist. For those of you who might be wondering, my tattoo is Underdog, and I love it!! LOL.

I was a minor at the time and getting a similar tattoo to my mom to cover some scars (they included my mom in the process of everything and helped her with her concerns). They were very good with communication and the tattoo turned out exactly like the concept art I sent them. It was quick and the prices were reasonable. Fantastic experience: This place is AMAZING! I set up an appointment with Jesse and it was awesome. Not only is the place super clean and inviting, but Jesse was just fantastic. He was super nice and he just did a phenomenal job on my tattoo. I got a print of my cat’s paw and his attention to detail was incredible. He was so patient and worked really hard to make sure it looked exactly like the reference. He also used a traditional tattoo gun which I thought was just the coolest thing. Also the pricing was beyond fair for the work he did. Overall I’m just thrilled with my experience. Definitely will be booking another appointment ASAP!

Fantastic experience: My favorite studio by far! I just got a cover up done today and I am absolutely obsessed. This is the second piece I’ve had done by Lauren and her work has been incredible both times. She’s super friendly and easy to talk to (and also gives great restaurant recommendations)! I wanted a new piece to cover up a college mistake and also honor my grandmother’s artwork, and Lauren did an amazing job accomplishing that. The tattoo itself was super quick, only about an hour for this one and 30 minutes for my first one, and pretty painless (although I have quite a high pain tolerance). The studio is also super clean and cozy. I’ve been coming here since I was 13 for piercings and have just started getting tattoos in the last year or so. Every single experience I have here is great and I definitely recommend this place to everyone!

Negative experience: 4pm appointment..was told a few minutes. Waited for over an hour. Customer before had a 2:45 went back when I arrived @3:45. Obviously knew they were running late..no call to reschedule and no deposit refunded. Disappointed because wife has work done a few weeks ago without issue.

Fantastic experience: I took my then 16-year-old, while we were doing some college touring. I had promised her she could get a tattoo for her senior year. This was over the summer, and I don't remember who the young lady was who did it. But she was super awesome, and my daughter was very comfortable with her. My daughter was very happy with the tattoo as well. My daughter will be attending college in Pittsburgh in the fall, so I won't be surprised if she schedules some more visits there. Thank you!

Negative experience: An absolutely predatory tattoo parlor. Don’t ever go here. They make their artists sign contracts that sign over all their artwork to the studio so they can’t use them in portfolios because it’s the ‘studios’ property. They work them to the bone and force them to take every walk in ever, not allowed to say no. There are so many problematic things about this place, it’s not even funny.

Negative experience: I have gotten several tattoos here over the years. I was always a fan and referred people here...that is until today. On 8.26.22 I had a piece done by Lauren in Dormont. It had quite a few flaws and the shop and artist graciously agreed to do their best to "fix" it at no charge to me. I had a touch up on 9.30.22 and discussed some other things I'd like to add/correct. Lauren said no problem, I'll make notes and just call to schedule. Fast forward to today- I called to schedule another correction/touch up as well as add in a small piece that we had discussed. The male receptionist was very rude from the time he picked up the phone. He got frustrated that I was trying to schedule for a piece that he did not have a picture of, despite me trying to explain that it was already discussed with the artist. He put me on hold to take another call, but prior to pressing hold, he audibly said "I hate it when people call and..." before putting me on hold. When he returned to the call, with an attitude and rude tone, I asked what does he hate when people call and if he had an issue with me scheduling. Let me tell you, I have never been so disrespected by someone who I was trying to bring business to. He got irate and started raising his voice at me. I very politely said to him that I would just reach out to the artist since he was having such an issue with me and he became even more rude stating thatbhe doesnt know who i thinknibam, but inwill not go around him. I am appalled that the "receptionist" a business would be so very rude to someone on the other end of the phone who is just trying to get her butchered tattoo corrected by the artist who did the sub par work. I will never recommend this shop to anyone again. Very disappointing because there are SOME very talented artists here and I have enjoyed coming here over the years.

Fantastic experience: My daughter went to get her ears re-pierced after having the job done poorly when she was little. The staff was great and made her feel very comfortable. She even loves the starter earrings that came with the piercing.

Fantastic experience: I got a tattoo and a nose piercing at the Dormont location today. The staff were all extremely nice and welcoming. Mik was delightful and did fantastic job on my tattoo. I highly recommend!

Fantastic experience: It was my 1st tattoo done in PENNSYLVANIA , been in Pennsylvania almost 4 1/2 years now, all my others tattoos were done in Hawai'i where im originally from, but to top it off, it was an awesome experience, cool vibes , and good experience, loved my tattoo artist and will definitely be going there again for sure, i found the spot to get tattoos, amongst so so many this one is the one i choose .. 10/10 100% recommended go there ♥ ♥

Fantastic experience: Highly professional and amazingly talented artists. The setup they have is private and clean, the staff are intelligent and kind, and they have so much to offer! We had Marcella Hans and they were amazing! They talked us through the process, and I had drawn my tattoo and they worked with it to ensure it would fit the size and helped me work through it so it was perfect. I highly recommend getting your next tattoo or piercing here! They also sell mugs and shirts!

Negative experience: This place has amazing artists and receptionists, but AWFUL ownership and business practices. I had sent them my design over email of the piece I was having done on 11/1 by my artist. I had sent this email a week prior to my appointment. I got a call the next day, 6 days prior to my appointment, and they told me my artist had left over a month ago and I could go to a different artist. When did they plan on telling me my artist had left when my appointment was IN their system with the artist that had left?! So, I had said I wanted my deposit back because my artist had fully left the business and I did not want to see another artist at the studio because it was not my artist. It was not fair for them to keep my deposit under these circumstances. If it was my doing or reasoning for the tattoo not being completed, that would be a whole different scenario, but this was a business based doing. After calling and talking to the owner, she gave us our $50 back and BANNED us from the studio for rightfully wanting our money back. This place has awful ownership and I will not be recommending them to any of my close friends for future tattoos because if this is how a business treats their customers and their artists, I don’t want to support them.

Negative experience: I was told that I had the correct anatomy for an industrial when I apparently did not. I would have been fine with being told it was not the right piercing for me, since i knew that was a very real possibility. It wasn't a make or break and I had other piercings in mind if it wasn't an option. First off, the bar that was placed was excessively long and caused a lot of difficulties from the beginning. It was also externally threaded and not of great quality. Within 3 weeks I developed irritation bumps despite a meticulous cleaning regimen and care. 7 weeks later and they were still not healing and the bumps were worsening, on top of that the bar itself rested on the flat of my ear from the beginning causing a pressure spot. I was re-evaluated by a reputable piercer who said I should have never been told yes in the first place due to incorrect anatomy and how terrible the jewelry and placement were. I was also told that they frequently have to take out and fix piercings from this shop. I would recommend going elsewhere for piercings.

Fantastic experience: Fantastic experience beginning to end. The shop is clean and well lit, each chair has ample privacy. Bethany pierced me and she was very patient, professional, and charming - and very prepared. The whole shop seemed to be staffed by women, which was refreshing and made me feel comfortable immediately when I arrived.

Fantastic experience: This was my first experience at pgh tattoo studio. Lauren did mine and my partner's tattoo and she was attentive, caring, very patient, and of course we got awesome ink out of it! She worked with me to spruce up my antique heart tattoo i got when i was 19 y.o. And bonus: she's SO funny. TPTS should have comedy night with Lauren, honestly. She talked to us the whole time, and it's very obvious she likes her job and wants to be there. Thanks Lauren and TPTS!

Fantastic experience: I had a wonderful experience with The Pittsburgh Tattoo Studio, both in Dormont and in Washington. I was tattooed by Lizzie - she was knowledgeable, efficient and nailed all of the fine lines in my tattoo. Both locations had friendly and helpful staff, a clean and chic environment, and were run by women (love to see it). 10/10 would absolutely recommend!

Fantastic experience: JUST got my nipples pierced at Pittsburgh Tattoo Studio. Everyone was so nice and the place was impressively clean. Their prices are better than any other piercing place I've found so far. Bethany did my piercings and she was AWESOME. It really didn't hurt that much, just like a big pinch. Now that I'm home... It still feels like they're being pinched, but that's all. I would totally recommend this place.

Negative experience: i received three piercings at this location, and none of them were handled correctly. i had my conch done, which took approximately 10 seconds to get the needle through while the piercer shoved and twisted it through my cartilage, a miracle that healed. my nostril was done at an odd angle, and my tragus? didnt even last 24 hours when it was pierced in basically the side of my face with an extremely short bar, and hurt worse than the excruciatingly twisted conch piercing. these people are not the professionals they claim to be.

Fantastic experience: Incredibly clean and attractive environment. Private spaces for the service, which was really nice and unexpected. The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful and the whole experience was as good as it gets!

Fantastic experience: Today, I went and got a tattoo that I've been wanting to get for the past 3 years! When I got there the wait time was only about 15 mins (with an appt) and then when it was time, the artist (Lauren) did an amazing job! She made sure to get everything exactly as I wanted, took care to make it as painless as possible, and only took an hr and a half! I was told by other studios that it would take 3-5hrs. The tattoo is beautiful and I'm so glad I chose this studio to get it done. Its a very professional, clean, and accommodating establishment. 100% recommend!

Her work is beautiful and she really listens to what you want. I couldn't have asked for a better experience. I was so pleased that I booked two more appointments with her before leaving.
