Negative experience: I was there to just buy a piece of jewelry for my ear. There was a couple people but i wouldn’t say it was packed. Employees were fine but they have no control or clue how to give a good service or mange time. I was there for an entire hour just waiting for someone to show me the jewelry they had. I ended up just leaving. It was a bad service. This is t the first time I’ve been here 3 times and every time i always end up leaving disappointed. I tried to give it a chance but it just proves me wrong over and over again. Don’t come here.

Fantastic experience: Agada was AMAZING! She truly captures every aspect of any design you give her. She took my idea and made it come to life! We are her lifers!!! No one else will tattoo usbut her!!!

Fantastic experience: Mandy was FANTASTIC!!! Very light hand and beautiful sharp line work, highly recommended!!!! The shop overall is very clean and organized, and is quite a large space as well! Overall a wonderful experience and we will definitely be back!

Negative experience: I came in as a walk-in, I had Agata. I came around 8/9pm and was out by 11pm (they close at 2am). I do not recommend her She did lilies on my forearm. Her lines are messy, she was rushing, and she was not fully listening to me about the placement. She got too close to my other tattoos after specifically asking her NOT to. She freehanded stuff that was not on the stencil and was not great about communicating what she was going to do. When I arrived, she looked like she was on her way out of the shop (putting on her coat) but decided to take me anyway. I wish she would’ve just turned me away if she was in a rush to get out of there!!! EDIT: Now that I remember it, she didn’t even fully cover the tattoo with the protective layer after we were done, and 10 minutes later after noticing in the car, I came back to get that part of it covered and she was already gone. Another artist covered it for me. She quoted me a little under $400, and they had a special going on that week for that price point, so they applied it. If that was the problem, do not OFFER a promotion you don’t want customers to be able to enjoy I would’ve happily paid the full price, as I honestly was expecting it to be. I thought the piece might have been too big for the offer, but it wasn’t (and I had planned, and did, tip well because of the offer) Will not be coming back, and I am going to get parts of the tattoo removed. I’ve had tattoos done by someone who did not speak the same language as me AT ALL and he did perfect so I’m hesitant to assume it was a miscommunication. My gf who was there with me said I was very clear about what I wanted and agreed that Agata didn’t really listen. Only bad tattoo experience I’ve ever had, and I’ve been to about 7 different shops throughout my tattoo journey. Will not be coming back.

Positive experience: Prompt,clean and professional. I would definitely use them in the future. Went in for a cartilage piercing. Was painless!

Fantastic experience: I’ve been wanting to get my nipples pierced for a while but was a little nervous—especially about the possibility of having a male piercer. When I went in and found out it would be a male piercer, I was definitely anxious at first. However, Alan was extremely professional, kind, and made me feel 110% comfortable throughout the entire process. The piercing itself was quick, and he kept a friendly and respectful attitude the whole time. He also gave me great information about aftercare. I’ll most definitely be coming back in the future

Negative experience: I’ve been a loyal client here for years and always enjoyed my tattoos. Recently, though, I couldn’t schedule a touch-up with Mikey despite multiple calls (I left messages with the staff), texts (he ignored me), and even visiting in person (on the phone they told me to come, then when I got there said “Mikey is busy and you need to reschedule for a non weekend day, yet again HE NEVER followed up. I ended up going to Chicago Ink (8 min away) and had much better experience. I hope Chi Town Tattoos improves its scheduling and communication so loyal clients don’t experience the same frustration. What a shame ☹️

Fantastic experience: I have had tattoos by three artists here, and have been pierced twice. They are always helpful, and I have never had any issues. Especially helpful with walk-ins. My tattoos have all healed and aged well!

Fantastic experience: Just remember to eat and bring sugar(can of pop) to ensure you keep your blood sugar up, to prevent feeling faint this goes for anywhere piercing or tattoo **Went back for my medusa and my oldest eyebrow. Mandy was amazing! We had our own personal medical problem and they jumped in and helped, amazing. Even after we had walked out the door** Came with my oldest to get a vertical labret and my nose pierced. Excellent service. Clean. As a nurse, it's the first thing I look at.

Fantastic experience: I was in town for a quick trip and thought it would be fun to get some flash as a gap filler. I reached out to Connor and he was happy to do a walk in with me. He showed me all his available flash, worked with me on sizing, and was so chill the whole time. It was a positive experience for sure and the tattoo healed great! Thanks Connor!

Fantastic experience: I decided to get my nipples re pierced after not having them in for 5 years. I was recommended by a friend to come here. The staff was very friendly and knowledgable with piercings. The whole process was very quick and very sanitary. 10/10 recommend

Negative experience: I got my nose pierced at this shop a few years ago and unfortunately, it has never fully healed. I’ve had many piercings in my life — including another nostril piercing that healed perfectly — so I know what proper healing should feel like. This one never stopped hurting, even after switching to a 16g on the other side and following every cleaning instruction to the letter. Recently, I went back in and paid $10 to have them change the jewelry, hoping that might help. They insisted it was an 18 gauge (the standard), but I don’t believe it is — the jewelry feels too large for the hole, and the piercing remains irritated. After nearly three years, I still can’t remove the jewelry without pain. That’s not normal. When I explained this and asked for help, I was offered a smaller bead for the top — but that doesn’t solve the actual issue, which is the size of the post, not the bead. When I questioned the logic, the piercer (Andy) snapped back with, “Well, you tell me,” which was beyond unprofessional. I came in asking for help, not sarcasm. I ended up walking out with my money refunded. I really wanted to support my neighborhood shop and give them another chance, but I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone, especially not Andy. Rude, dismissive, and clearly lacking the knowledge or care needed for something as sensitive as a piercing.

Fantastic experience: Stopped in for a quick walk-in tattoo and was immediately helped. Very clean and efficient. Great tattoo work!

Fantastic experience: I got two lobe piercings and one cartilage piercing done by Connor. He did a great job and quickly answers any questions I have about the healing process over social media. Great prices and shop too.

Fantastic experience: Damon shared some great art with me and was patient while I weighed my decisions. Ultimately I'm very happy with the art piece. Sitting down to get inked can take a long while but the friendly conversations we shared helped the time pass. I will be back for more complex pieces that I know Damon will make short work of. Negative experience: I had an artist named Liana and from the go I had a bad feeling about her, but I decided to put her attitude to the side and focus more on what I came for in the first place , I asked for my design but then tried to charged me almost 200$ for a basic outline with the SMALLEST butterflies ! I ended up changing my design entirely and something 1/3 of the size, maybe three words and a paper plane , and still charged me 120!! I get we’re all trying to make money but robbing people blind is outrageous. Yall need to do better , never comin again

Fantastic experience: I found Mandy on Instagram and really liked her energy as well as her work with body piercings. I was looking for a new place to get two high nostril piercings so I decided to book an appointment. I’m really glad that I did. Mandy is excellent at her craft, very professional and calming. Though I’m not new to piercings, she explained the procedure and aftercare thoroughly, which I appreciated. The piercings were quick and perfectly placed. It was also my first time at Chi Town Tattoo and so I’d also like to mention how kind and professional the person at the front desk was upon checking me in and assisting with paperwork. They were very knowledgeable and welcomed me with a warm greeting, which can sometimes be absent at tattoo shops. All in all, 11/10, would highly recommend Mandy for any piercings; and she also tattoos as well! Thank you for such a great experience!

I worked with Agata, who was absolutely fantastic. She was so kind, patient, and made the whole process feel really easy and positive. Fantastic experience: I’ve had my septum pierced here twice, today I took my little sister here to get our cartilages pierced, and I figured it was time to finally leave a review. The place is tucked away next to the highway, a cute clean shop with great music playing & cool shit on the walls to look at while you wait. Claire is a phenomenal piercer. She takes time explaining the process and making sure everything is sanitary/you’re satisfied with piercing placement, is patient if the pincushion is getting antsy, and overall has a great sense of humor that makes the experience that much better. This is my second time coming back to her & I will be back anytime I wanna go for another jab. Definitely will recommend to everyone I know- if you’re reading the reviews to make a decision on whether or not you wanna come here, you do! ***Update*** I returned here in March 2025 to get another piercing, this time with Connor. I went for a tongue piercing this time around & Connor was incredibly knowledgeable & let me know any and all risks + how to care for it prior to going forward with the piercing. I was a little nervous but he made it quick & relatively painless, with perfect placement. I came back a few weeks later for the switch out into smaller jewelry and he made that experience equally simple, and I am very grateful for his professionalism! Fantastic experience: I just had another amazing tattoo done by Damon, and oh my gosh it is the the best work I’ve ever had. I went in last year for a cover up very skeptical about it and Damon did an excellent job covering it up. I love the fact I can give an artist a basic idea and give them free reigns on making something look so spectacular. There were many parts of the session where I thought I was done only to find out no we are not done because of the attentiveness to details. Down to the very millimeter of shading. I hands down recommend ChiTown tattoo to anyone looking for their first tattoo to needing a sleeve or a difficult cover up. And that’s not all! While I was there I also had the privilege of speaking to James and other staff members and they are so personable and can relate in many ways, I always feel welcome and never intimidated or feel uncomfortable being in the shop. Fantastic experience: I received a white ink tattoo that I had been thinking about getting for a while now. I worked with Brenton and really felt like I was heard and that the process was a team effort. The building had a chill environment where I felt invited by everyone, but also like I was there to be one-on-one with my artist and privacy was definitely given to us. I originally wanted it on the inside of my hand/fingers and the tattoo artist was willing to do that if I wanted, but also wanted me to be informed and showed me examples of what the white ink would look like over time and made sure that it would be something I was happy with even after the fading and changing of color. We discussed other options and finally decided on the inside of my arm instead and I love it. The whole process was great from design to actually getting the tattoo. I am immunocompromised and the tattoo artist listened and really made sure that everything was handled with care and cleanliness. That was important to me. I'll for sure go again.

Negative experience: if i could give them 0 stars i would. to start off, immediately when pulling up there was a staff member outside chiefing on a blunt and then proceeded to walk back inside after and give out piercings and or tattoos. who cares about smoking but when you are preforming permanent work on someone you should be sober at least while doing it. that should have been the first red flag. i then went in for a simple jewelry exchange for my nose piercing where the staff was pretty rude and gave me what looked like a very large stud and hoop for my nose jewelry which in total came out to $60 just for two pieces of titanium jewelry. come to find out, after immediately going to a different shop for a second option, they said that the stud i was given was a 16g and the hoop was 18g when MY ORIGINAL STUD THAT I CAME IN WITH WAS A 20g!!! meaning, i would have had to stretch my pierced nose hole in order to fit the stud that this place gave me which was also in fact an ear piercing stud to top it off. all in all, do not come here. waste of money and time. do better. (THE PICTURE IS OF MY ORIGINAL NOSE STUD ON THE RIGHT AND THE ONE THIS PLACE GAVE ME ON THE LEFT!!!)

Fantastic experience: Just got a tattoo my Mandy. Mandy is the most patient, sweet and understanding person ever. I’ve got tattoos from other places and my experience here was totally different. Chi Town Tattoo has such a comfortable and friendly environment. Can’t wait to get more tattoos done by Mandy. I recommend this place and tattoo artist for anybody that is looking to get a tattoo done.

You're going to tell me that my wife and I both don't know where we got our wedding rings tattooed? That's wild. No wonder every shop in the Chicagoland area thinks your shop is a clown show. You want me to stop by. Are you going to fix the shoddy work or refund us? Rather than try to make things right, you're going to comment on my other reviews? Based on your other responses to the many unsatisfied customers, that seems par for the course. Just goes to show how childish and unprofessional your business is. Now it's up here for all to see. I'll happily stop by. Who do I speak with when I get there? Somehow, they got my review deleted. This place is very strange, I've been around tattoo shops most of my life and I'm tatted up like a frieght train, and this place is hands down probably the worst shop I've ever been in. Came here begrudgingly, mainly because they were open late, and my wife didn't want to wait for my guy to do them. We had a simple request, getting our wedding bands tattooed. It cost us 80 bucks a piece for some very bad work, I tried to negotiate a better price because 80 bucks for some lines on someone's finger is ridiculous. I could've done them myself, and it probably would've turned out better, seriously. The place is literally an old corner bar that appears to be in the middle of being partially converted to a tattoo piercing shop, maybe its intentionally like that, but I'm not sure. The people working there are rude and act as if they're better than you. Looking at the reviews, they're easily triggered on top of it all. We waited for like 3 hours for some guy who didn't speak to either one of us the entire time while he laid down some garbage lines complete with blowouts. He had no problem talking about how he was going to go drunk after they close with his coworkers, though, just very rude people with little social skills. I wish I had looked at the photos posted here on Google because some of the work coming out of this place is horrible. If you're looking to get tattooed, there's far better places in the Chicagoland area than this place with much nicer people.

Fantastic experience: I love my tattoo!! My artist was Mandy and she is literally so cool and pretty but what’s more is she gave me an amazing tattoo and a nose piercing. she was so gentle and patient, will be coming back to see her!!

Negative experience: Tattoo artist tried to charge me $250 for a simple black outline no more then four inches long… meanwhile telling me the up-charge was due to straight lines because “they are extremely difficult”. Would NOT recommend going to a tattoo artist that finds straight lines SO difficult he has to charge an additional $150… Props to anyone who creates body art for a living but if a straight line is that difficult for you, please, for all of our bodies’ permanency, find a different career!

Negative experience: I got a nose piercing here about a month ago. The jewerly they put moved a lot because it was an L shape and kept coming out. Now it’s inflamed and the piercing fell out due to it not having a flat back. I went to a different piercing location and they said the piercing was done on a bad angle. Now I cant do anything but let it heal and close. Very disappointed and mad that $60 i spent here went down the drain.

Fantastic experience: Had gotten my belly button pierced 2 times here very clean nice people take time to explain what's going on also my daughter is took several times she was 16 love it there and pricing is good $40 for belly button piercing for over 8yrs.

Negative experience: Came in for a jewelry change on my helix a couple months ago and the experience was 10x more painful than the actual piercing. The piercer did not communicate with me at all during the jewelry change and ended up cutting my ear in the process without so much as any acknowledgment or apology. This is my first cartilage piercing and my first hoop, so I naively thought that this was normal. My friends were mortified when I showed them my ear. I would not recommend this to anyone! Fantastic experience: My daughter and I got ear piercings done by Connor and he was terrific! We highly recommend Connor for being very skilled, patient, and careful. He explained how to care for our ears as well as precautions to take for the future.

Negative experience: The tattoo itself was fine which was expected since it was two very small tattoos and one was matching little ankle tattoos. The only thing was that the tattoo artist wasn’t very nice…it was Damon but seemed like they were annoyed that we were there late which if that was the case they could’ve turned us away especially since we called before we showed up. She also caught an attitude with my friend when she told her she wanted it smaller. I honestly wouldn’t come back here or recommend after the service since it didn’t feel welcoming at all, we felt more of an inconvenience.

Fantastic experience: Wet clean, very professional. Mandy was so nice, patient and knowledgeable. I’m a big fan of the hours AND the fact that they post the price lists and are reasonably priced! I can’t wait to come back.

Negative experience: oh my god.go somewhere else or just stay home. i am in from out of town and my piercing fell out late night, i didn’t want it to close on the flight home so I came JUST FOR A POST 45 minutes before closing time (mind you i called 1.5 hours ahead of time and let them know i was coming, just waiting for my uber). I tried to put it the piece in myself but couldn’t because they didn’t have the pushpin post i needed, only threaded. fine. i went to the bathroom and tried my best then came back to the front after i put the post in MYSELF to fill out paperwork and pay extra just for someone to screw in the tip since my nails wouldn’t let me. a different girl from the first, who i believe was the piercer, was extremely rude and condescending!! i have never experienced such awful manners! i understand i came in late but i wasn’t asking for a new piercing or a tattoo, simply help putting in my jewelry. from start to finish she was giving me attitude, i gave her the equal respect and she was not fond of her own medicine. if you’re not willing to work late, don’t. no one is forcing you. hire someone else for late nights. she was blonde and only a bridge piercing on her face. go to bed love? work early babe.. but don’t bring the business down with you. NEVER COME HERE UNLESS YOU HAVE TO like i did

Fantastic experience: Got my belly pierced here and it’s been about a week now and I love it. The girl that helped with the papers was so nice, you’re greeted with a smile when you walk in, nice clean place. Connor then took me to the back to pierce my belly, he’s very professional, clean, polite and patient. I’m so happy I received a good experience here at chi town tattoo and body piercing (I’m glad I didn’t go any where else) because now I will be back in the future ❤️

Fantastic experience: All the staff we encountered were very polite and professional so the service was great. The place is clean and well kept. Tea did my tattoo perfectly and had it reasonably priced as well. I didn't have any color in my tattoo but her portfolio will show amazing work with color. Wish some of my previous ones were done here. Would definitely recommend this place

Fantastic experience: I recently got a tattoo at Chi-Town Tattoo. The artist was Mandy. This is my 2nd tattoo from her. She did a fantastic job. Her skills are top-notch, and she made sure I was comfortable. The place was clean and well-organized. Mandy listened to my ideas and gave great suggestions. The tattoo turned out even better than I imagined. I highly recommend her if you're thinking about getting a tattoo. Overall, it was a great experience, and I'm happy with the result.

Only downside is the choice of earrings to choose from for new piercings - 2 choices - stainless steel ball or stainless steel with a small fake gem (extra $30).

Negative experience: I’m writing this review because I had a bad experience here a few months ago and I am still thinking about it, so maybe I can prevent that for someone else. I came here to get my septum pierced. The piercer, whose name I believe was Alan, did not really do much explaining or anything before piercing me, but I trusted that he knew was he was doing. After a few looks in the mirror when I got home, I came to realize the piercing was definitely in the wrong location, very low in my septum and compared to at least 100 other pictures I spent an hour googling, completely misplaced. You could see the place it was pierced when looking at it from the side, which means it’s not high up enough at all. The next day, I got a second opinion from a piercer at another shop who told me they should not have let me walk out the shop with the piercing looking like that, and apologized to me on their behalf. When I told her where I got pierced, she did not seem surprised at all. I went back to ask about the piercing, and Alan was there and told me that it was placed correctly and I can’t get a refund. I asked another piercer there, who then told me that it probably was the right location if I had felt a pinch when the clamp was placed higher. Here I knew Alan had definitely messed up, because he only clamped my piercing position once, not checking if it went further up. Anyway, can’t change the past. I had them take it out, and Alan told me I could come back in a month and he would repierce it for me. I evidently will not be going back. Attaching images with comparison screenshot for reference. If you’re coming here for a septum piercing, I would say maybe don’t. :(

They offer parking in the back which is convenient. It’s right off the highway , also are open extremely late which is ideal.

Positive experience: I called in to inquire about their availability for piercings and they had walk-ins available. I really wanted to review this spot due to friendliness of the employees there. Everyone was warm and welcoming which made my experience pleasant. I went in for the Ashley piercing, but unfortunately they didn’t offer services for that particular one. I was a going back and forth on whether I wanted the vertical labret or Ashley, so this made my decision easier. I really like the placement and my piercer was lovely. My mom also got her first piercing done by her as well. She was very nervous, but eventually her nerves were calmed by our piercer. My only issue was an additional charge that I didn’t recognize on my card. Overall I recommend this location!!

Fantastic experience: My Boy Kassim Norris from Southside Productions ran me by this spot!! They had the nicest service and every single artist had great work on display. Ended up getting a nose piercing and booking a future date for my tattoos...as a testimony I don't live in Chicago, I'll be flying in from GA to get my work done!! This has to be the best tattoo shop I've been to in a while! California born and raised!!

Fantastic experience: I went to Mandy for my first ever tattoo and the experience was phenomenal! She is so attentive to what you want and really makes sure you love it. She did a great job with the mock ups and did everything I asked and the actual tattoo was very gentle. Overall, the best first experience you could ask for.

Negative experience: My friend and I came in from 3 hours away. I had talked to someone a couple of day prior to see if there’s a good time to come in, which they told us when; so that’s when we came. No one knew we were coming so they put us on the waiting list. So we waited. After waiting for 4 hours they finally got to me. Ok great, the girl at the front desk did her best to accommodate us but you could tell she was not expecting us. So now Damon is working. On me, and I picked an intricate design and I knew it would take awhile. No problem. But there was a flat table and the position they had me lay was super uncomfortable so I about every 20 min half an hour I would sit up for a minute (literally only a minute) and lay back down… my friend isn’t familiar with tattoos and asked how much longer Damon thinks it would take. He very rudely said I can’t put a time on it if she keeps taking this many breaks. So now was I not only super uncomfortable but also upset because he was irritated that I had to take a minute to sit up. I have never been to an artist that didn’t care if you were uncomfortable and just seemed to not care. He asked if I wanted to stop and I said I’m not driving three hours back for you to finish it later, which he also didn’t seem to care about. The only saving grace was that he did an amazing job. It looks beautiful and I love it. But that was the worst experience I have ever had by far. If customer service isn’t a priority for your business fine but I just can’t believe that that was normal. I have no problem spending $500 on a tatt plus tip, but I expect to be treated a lot better. So if you want an awesome tattoo and no bedside manner than I highly suggest this place.

Fantastic experience: I reached out to Mandy over Instagram with an idea for a tattoo, and she was so helpful throughout the whole process of designing and completing the tattoo. The placement I wanted for the tattoo was on my ribs, which I was super nervous about. But Mandy made sure I was comfortable the entire time, encouraging me to take a break even though the tattoo itself was really simple. Fantastic experience: This was my first time getting a tattoo. Chi Town and my artist, Agata, did a really good job of accommodating my ideas into the reality of tattoo making. It was very important to me to have certain aspects of my tattoo to honor my deceased mother and Agata helped me with that every step of the way. She went out of her way to schedule me outside of store hours because that was my only availability on the very specific day I wanted my tattoo: my 18th Birthday!
