Tattoo Factory: Reviews
Fantastic experience: This place is amazing! I walked in with a design on my phone and they took care of me immediately. Mike is an amazing artist with patience and passion for his work. I felt like he knew everything and made me comfortable enough to sit and read a book while I was getting tatted. The shop is so clean, the chairs are comfortable and the tattoo guns are so quiet! I will definitely be a returning customer, and I will recommend to my family and friends as well.
Fantastic experience: I have gone here for all of my tattoos! my artist is Zach! He is respectful, fast and I love his work!
Fantastic experience: Me and my husband came here to get our half sleeves and we couldn't be happier! Love this tattoo shop will never go anywhere else!
Fantastic experience: I came in as a walkin for a PA piercing. What a big ask for as a walkin in, My piercer Jen was awesome, she had such relaxed cool energy that would make anyone comfortable. She was meticulous about the placement, quick with the uncomfortable part, and very attentive to how I was feeling after. I’ll be back, and I’m sending her my friends ♥️
Negative experience: I was told my artist was the “fine line specialist”. The left is my reference picture but I wanted 2 R’s. The middle is immediately after I liked it although it could have been thinner. The right is what I am left with 2 years later applying sunscreen to it everyday. Currently researching the laser removal process which is a fortune. Please save yourself the trouble and avoid this place.
Negative experience: Im divided at had my first tattoo her and ended up more than perfect and beautiful. When back for a second and the guy who did my first job wasnt there. It was a simple black tattoo thats was one continuous line down my arm. The ink must have been terrible quality because less that a year latter looks a dull black that has leached and faded into my skin. Also overpriced especially for a jail house stick in poke tattoos.
Negative experience: I would not recommend this place for piercings. The posts they initially put in were so small I had to get them removed! I got two flat back cartilage piercings and they swelled up horribly within a few days. I went to another piercing shop in the suburbs to get the posts swapped out to something larger to account for swelling, but it was so bad it was unsaveable. I was probably a few hours away from the earrings being fully embedded. The other piercing shop could NOT believe they used such small posts, I was also shocked when I saw them taken out... All probably could've been prevented with long enough posts, so sad, really loved them at first! ☹️ and $140 down the drain. Just be sure they give you extra long posts if you are getting a piercing here!
Negative experience: The "piercing department" there aren't like the other ones I've went to.(and will be going back to) The hispanic chic keeps referring people to some guy ,"who will be here tomorrow at 5pm". Ok,...I said to myself. Mean while do the owners of this shop thinks individuals are going to wait for an unknown person to pierce their eyebrow, when the shop over east will do it in less time etc...? This shop just give money away.
Fantastic experience: Zac does great work and takes great care of his clients :)
Fantastic experience: Highly recommend Adrian for your piercings! He did an amazing job, professional, and great attention to detail. The results were perfect.
Fantastic experience: I absolutely love this place. I have been here 4 times now and I absolutely love them. The peircers are amazing and so are the tattoo artist. Highly recommend for anyone to come here.
Fantastic experience: I walked in with no appointment & Bobby did my cover-up tattoo. Super professional. Can't recommend highly enough. Will be back!
Negative experience: I came in for a third lobe piercing on each ear, and the experience in the studio was fine (not great, but good enough). The space was clean, but the appointment felt rushed and there wasn’t much discussion about placement beyond a quick look in the mirror. A few days later, after I put studs in my other lobe piercings, I realized the new piercings were noticeably uneven. The piercing on the left was too close to the existing piercing, and the multiple studs made the asymmetry more obvious. Unfortunately, I've had to remove the piercing so that I can let the hole close up and heal before getting it pierced again.
Negative experience: The front desk staff was friendly and welcoming, but I can’t recommend the artist, Joe. From the start, he was dismissive when we talked about placement and told me not to “tell him how to do his job.” The whole interaction felt tense, and communication during the session wasn’t great. The line work on the tattoo isn’t very good, and I’ll probably need to get it touched up. Afterward, he made a snide comment about how, since I already have other tattoos, I should know how to take care of this one and the aftercare instructions he gave were pretty vague. Between the attitude and the quality of the work, I can’t recommend this artist.
Negative experience: I had two tattoos done at Tattoo Factory, about a year apart. They’re very nice there, but I have to say, looking back, I wish I was more assertive with the artist on what my vision was for the tattoo versus his artistic style preference. Make sure you do not let them talk you into changing the tattoo you want for your body into something that they want to make or being larger than you want it. If your styles don’t align, it is much better to go elsewhere and find an artist who respect the limits of your body since it will be with you forever. I now have two tattoos that are much larger than I wanted and have very thick lines, and also have some green color on them so they can’t be removed. I’m having a hard time finding an artist who can fix them without adding a lot to them since the lines are so thick and now look messy, so it’s pretty disappointing and quite stressful.
Fantastic experience: This place is absolutely AMAZING!! Jody is truly one of a kind and honestly I’m lucky his art is on my body. Dave is awesome too!! Thanks again guys!
Fantastic experience: i came in with a bad sketch but mike saw the vision and did it perfectly 10/10
Negative experience: Artist didn't tell me his name. I think I heard someone say it and it started with a G or J or something. Anyway, I got the draculaura skull behind my ear and I feel like it's safe to say that this does not look right. The fangs are totally botched. Why is the cheek on the right so pointy? Spent $120 on this, including tip. (Tipped bc I'm an idiot). Guys please do your research before getting tattoos, even if it's an impulse tattoo. I will be lazering this off when it heals because this is on my head.... who wants a bad tattoo on their head (Picture 1 is the stencil. Picture 2 and 3 are the tattoo)
Fantastic experience: Bob is such a good artist he was the best tattoo artist for my first tattoo I recommend going to him for a tattoo I recommend anyone This place for a tattoo especially your first time love the customer service everyone and everything is good and better.
Fantastic experience: Mr Sox & Dave Dillon are thee very best artist. My experience with these 2 gentlemen was top tier. Very nice, very clean, very professional and lastly very affordable. I love all my body art and look forward to my next sessions.
Fantastic experience: Bobby does great work. Going back Friday
Fantastic experience: If you want to book ahead of time or do walk ins, ANTIONIO QUIORZ is an awesome artist and i was super satisfied with what he did for me. Awesome shop and very nice people. Definitely worth it!
Negative experience: i came here because a few family members have gone here and had no complaints and i grew up driving past it all the time. i came to get a small tattoo very dainty wording with only 4 words. it was a little busy so i can understand being slightly frustrated and overwhelmed as i work retail and know how that feels but i walked in and was directed to fill out paperwork without being greeted and a guy walked up to me and asked what i wanted without making eye contact and said shortly it was going to be around $400. now im not a tattoo artist and i know artwork is valuable AND takes time AND we live in chicago but jesus H christ! i took my name off the list and walked out and brought myself somewhere else who did an amazing job and greeted me with kindness. it felt like he quoted me extremely high so i wouldn’t add to the line.
Fantastic experience: Antonio did an AMAZING job on my tattoo! He was friendly and immediately made me feel comfortable. As a tourist getting a souvenir tattoo, I wasn't sure where to go but I walked right in and Antonio greeted me with a smile and an open mind! He listened and made suggestions and I came out of there with, not only a BEAUTIFUL tattoo, but an AWESOME experience to end my trip in Chicago! 10/10 recommend!!
Fantastic experience: I have gotten 2 tattoos here because I loved my first one so much I had to come back! I highly recommend my artist Antonio—he designed both of my tattoos and did an amazing job (check out his IG @versatile_tattoo). He made sure the designs were exactly what I wanted. The tattoos themselves were also done really well—I get compliments on them all the time! The atmosphere in the shop is really chill and all of the staff are friendly. Everything is very sanitary and safe. Pricing is also great here. Plus, they have a bar next door which I stopped at when I was waiting for my friend’s tattoo to finish.
Fantastic experience: My tattoo artist was super professional, and did a great job on my skin. Gave me and my husband matching tattoos, didn’t take too much time, and had a great personality. I believe his name is Eder, has 2 skull stencils above his station. This is my second tattoo at this shop, by 2 different artists. Both were incredible dudes, and great artists who were upfront about our ideas and how we can make our tattoos look best and last long. I don’t remember the Other artists, but the forearm piece was his and we did it there in 2022. I love this location ❤️
Negative experience: 0 stars. DO NOT GO HERE! The piercer was unbelievably rude. For back story, I got my doubles pierced here a year ago and since then the backs have been stuck on my ears. I went in for help and the front desk was SO NICE! However, I was not met with that same courtesy with the piercer. When I walked in, I set my stuff down and told him I was going to get a ponytail he rudely said "can you get your stuff out of my way" when I put it down on the ledge. He then accused me of changing the backs on my own when I literally did not touch them because I couldnt get them out! Basically told me I was a liar. He succeeded in getting the one off, but for the other one he said "his fingers hurt" and that "he was not even going to try anymore" and that "I should just go get my ears cut open." I do not understand why he was so rude from the start, but I did nothing to this man. I do nottttt recommend this place for piercings. TRASH!
Fantastic experience: JD is great!! So far he has done 4 tattoos for me over the last few years and I’m so happy with each one. Each time I bring an idea to him he helps me with honest feedback explains what will work best for longevity, design ideas, placement, etc. Will be back again soon!
Fantastic experience: Good experience! Was very to easy to walk in when I went, they’re nearby a korean restaurant and target + aldi so it’s a pretty convenient spot
Negative experience: Got a tattoo done here 2 months go. Let me tell you something. Beware. Do your research before going anywhere. I was naive and didn’t think it would be a problem. Tattoo factory has been around for some time. I’ve seen some nice tattoos being done here. In my experience it was the worst thing on my body. I wanted a nice fine line with light shading tattoo. I have the reference photo below, a photo right after the session and a photo of it 2 months healed. The guy was super sweet said that he could definitely do it and there was no problem. So I excitedly accepted. I got a deformed tattoo of a fairy. The legs were poorly made, he changed the face, the wings, the dress looks very different, the hair is very different. I thought I could learn to love it but I couldn’t. I cried. I did not want to make the review because the guy was very sweet and outgoing but i don’t want people making the same mistake. It will be on your body forever unless laser or a cover up. I will be getting this removed or coverup. 100% Being sweet doesn’t excuse botched linework. A tattoo is on your body forever, not a doodle on notebook paper. I spent $300 on this and will be spending who knows how much more to fix it or remove it. Make a consultation, do your research, don’t rush a tattoo, make sure the artist you pick knows how to do the style you want. Thanks for your offer. The tattoo was done by Bobby. I appreciate your willingness to make it right, but I don’t feel comfortable returning. I just wanted to share my honest experience so others can make an informed decision.
Fantastic experience: Adrian assisted me with removal of jewelry and helped me pick out a new piece for another piercing. He was very kind and professional. Will definitely be back in the future!
Negative experience: Maxwell Oliver is awful. Find somewhere else to get a tattoo. He took forever to deal with and won't accept that he is a terrible artist. Will go elsewhere.
Negative experience: I went in with my wife and a good friend to get tattoos on July 1 I'm giving one star, cause I can't leave no stars and Bobby was very transfobic. He misgendered my friend twice and dug really deep on my wife's tattoo to the point she said it felt like he was digging for bone. Not even an hour later her tattoo was bleeding. I know blood is normal when it comes to tattoos but this wasn't normal.Next few days it was painful to walk. Nine days later and it's still red which is not normal. Don't recommend this tattoo shop if you are apart of LBGTQ+ community.
Negative experience: Jerry, was in insanely rude and rushed. The tattoo he did on me is nothing like the inspo pic, very far from it actually. The planet is the worst part. Along with the line work. I have multiple tattoos and I hide this one because I hate it. Now that this tattoo is healed, I’m finally getting it removed with laser. Don’t make the mistake I made and rush to see whatever artist is available. I learned that the hard way and now the next time, I will save up and take my time to do my research on an artist and their work. I do want to add that I have a couple smaller tattoos done by other artist who aren’t at this shop anymore, I think his name was snow. He did great. I also agree with another review that the owners snarky and defensive responses to the feedback/low reviews is not a great way to handle your business. Not a great look.
Fantastic experience: Loved my experience...went with 2 of my best friends and everyone was just so nice very clean and spacious. I loved every moment of it i know i found my place of future tattoos
Fantastic experience: Jenny is the best, she makes sure you're comfortable before, during and after each piercing. She's very patient with first timers! I would recommend her any day!
Fantastic experience: Awsome place! Highly recommend, Joe and Bob were great, with years of experience and knowledge, Joe took care of me and was very professional, was able to get me in and knock out my bib tattoo, Bob was able to to finish my wife’s
Positive experience: Called about walking in for a matching tattoo with 3 of my girlfriends while we were in town. They said they had time and were willing so we popped in and looked at some designs. We landed on a design they had already drawn up of a moon, some clouds and stars. We told the artists we wanted to add some red, so we all decided the stars would be red. My friends went first, and after the first two were done, we knew we would not be getting two more. The two tattoos look nothing of matching. One was clean and fine line with bright red stars and one was shaky, thick and blood red stars. The artists had conversations before starting about needle thickness and color and the ball was completely dropped I give 3 stars, because at the very least they did not charge us, and the better artist was extremely apologetic… but even for 2 artist with “different styles” this was a pre drawn tattoo that they designed and was very capable of executing as MATCHING.
Fantastic experience: Dave accepted me as a walk-in without hesitation, heard my request, whipped up a perfect interpretation of it and banged it out flawlessly. Professional to the core.
Fantastic experience: What an awesome spot!! The artists are all so crazy talented! Now I know where I'm always going when I'm home visiting! First tattoo ever and best experience!
Fantastic experience: This was the best tattoo experience possible for me and my family. Four of us got tattoos at the same time. The artists were very easy to work with and it was obvious that they cared a lot about their work. The quality of the work was top-notch. All four of us are extremely happy and highly recommend Tattoo Factory.
Fantastic experience: Antonio is an awesome artist who has been really kind, patient, and helpful with me on a patchwork half sleeve, starting from nothing but 12 or so inspo pics. he works quickly but provides top quality work, from fine lines to small details. can’t recommend him enough (ig plug: versatile_tattoo), and it’s a great shop overall as well.
Fantastic experience: Recently gotten my past few tattoos here from Antonio , definitely going to be a regular. Nice atmosphere, friendly workers. Great job
Fantastic experience: Jody needs the employee of the month award for the next 12 months in a row!! He has 10/10 vibes and he’s done two pieces on my left leg that I really like!!!! Highly recommend
Fantastic experience: I was a walk-in. Jenny walked me through the process and was so calming, and made sure I was okay with all the decisions I was making. I had both sides of my nose pierced and although it pinched a little, I was so reassured by Jenny's kind and collected approach to telling me everything she was doing as she did it, I almost wanted to go back just to be pierced by her again. I would highly recommend even to someone who was nervous and not used to being pierced, like myself. If I have another piercing done, I will definitely go to Jenny again!
Fantastic experience: Every time I visit the shop, it’s always a nice & friendly atmosphere. David has done several of my tattoos & he always does an amazing job.
Fantastic experience: Jerry did an outstanding job! It was my first tattoo and his light touch and friendly banter made for a very enjoyable experience!!
Negative experience: Rude people. no hospitality whatsoever. horrible line work. the dude w glasses (older white man) who tatted my arm didn’t give me time to make my mind up on placement or color. Took over the entire idea of the tattoo and I’m not satisfied with it at all. I’m getting it touched up by a real professional. “Been doing this for 35 years” yea okay. Also very inappropriate w younger women.
Fantastic experience: Omg it was very positive vibes. Respectful great attitudes. Very pleasant, great conversation. I got all my tattoos from Tattoo Factory, it the best place to get tattoos. I revisit after 20 years to get another tattoo. A very important tattoo and very special and I shared it with the tattoo artist and it was grateful
Fantastic experience: Got my work done by Mike Sr. Had no issues. Didn't take as long as I thought it was going to take.
Fantastic experience: I forgot who did my tattoo cuz I was stoned but the session was fast and easy. The dude tattooing me was older (older gen x to late boomer?) and respectful. Tried to tip him but he refused because he said I didn’t complain or anything. Thank y’all again! I’ll come back during my next chicago trip!
Fantastic experience: I looked at many places ... And a variety of artists to have some cover-up work done. I am so glad I made the right choice and went back to the tattoo factory in Chicago. The artist Dave Dillon did simply outstanding work that I am thrilled with! Very easygoing relaxed atmosphere and the artists work with you to get your ideas into tattoo form! The only regret I have is that I waited so long. But so glad I drove the extra few miles... Trust me it is completely worth it! Will definitely be going back for some other work and my partner was very impressed and will be getting some work done.
Fantastic experience: Great experience getting a helix piercing here and only costed ~$70! The piercer was very gentle and explained each step. He was very receptive and did not rush any part of the process. Highly recommend this place for a piercing!
Fantastic experience: Great experience here!! Staff was super friendly, informative, and I was in and out for a piercing in like 20 minutes (if that!). Adrian did a fantastic job and explained everything really well for my first piercing. The facilities are impeccably clean and there's a positive vibe when you walk in!
Fantastic experience: I needed to get a hoop nose ring removed in a slight emergency--I was having trouble on my own. I called them and they were able to see me ASAP. Adrian was very professional, knowledgeable, and patient. Great place. Thanks!
Fantastic experience: My friend and I went to the Tattoo Factory tonight. We had an amazing experience, the artists were not only friendly but very comforting. We love our tattoos as well, I would definitely recommend this 14/10 experience
Negative experience: I’ve had a mixed experience at Tattoo Factory. I got a couple of tattoos done there, and while one turned out great, the other wasn’t up to standard. A few weeks later, I returned, and Jody fixed the tattoo. He was professional, listened to my concerns, and did a solid job on the correction. At that time, I mentioned wanting to do a back tattoo in the coming months. About a month later, I emailed Jody a design for the back tattoo but received no response. A few weeks ago, I went back to get a different tattoo on my arm. I spoke with Jody again and explained that I was open to choosing any design from the shop wall instead of a custom design. Surprisingly, I was told they don’t do that and needed to contact a tattoo artist directly. They handed me a card, and it turned out to be Mike—the same artist I’d previously requested not to work with. Despite my reservations, I emailed Mike twice with the design and didn’t get a response. At this point, it’s pretty clear they’re not interested in working with me, which is frustrating and unprofessional. For a shop that prides itself on customer service and artistry, this level of communication and follow-through is disappointing.
Negative experience: Got my ears pierced out of state back in October and my jewelry in my cartilage fell out. Walked in here for another surgical steel jewelry piece. I had on a cheap little stud to prevent my piercing from closing during the holidays. The woman in there asked me what jewelry I wanted, I said I wanted a hoop but was told I should get a stud while my piercing heals. She asked when I got it and I told her 2 months ago. She said I should be fine with a hoop. Thought she was a professional with experience and I trusted her to buy a hoop. She didn’t even look at my ear. She asked if I needed help putting it in. I said yes please. I walk around, she takes out an alcohol pad to “clean it” and proceeds to replace my jewelry. When I take a look in the mirror, there’s still blood crust all around my piercing and a big chunk of blood on the hoop itself. She didn’t even clean it well. Got home and did some research on cartilage piercing healing and now I’m worried this piercer was just being lazy and wanted me out asap. I could be healing my piercing wrong or causing more damage because she put in a thin gold hoop. Almost got more piercings here but I will never step foot in this shop again. Will be going elsewhere for professional assistance and guidance.
Fantastic experience: I got my triple lobe piercing here and it was excellent! The place was very nice and clean and professional. The jewelry options were high quality, implant grade. The piercer Jennie was great, very calm and confident, and the whole thing was very quick. Also very affordable! I’m very happy with my experience!
Fantastic experience: i got tattooed by antonio and that was the best tattoo experience i’ve ever had! beautifully done he really made me feel comfortable and truly cares about tattooing, so gentle i could barely feel the tattoo and it’s healing beautifully!
Fantastic experience: Update 7 weeks post-pierce: Woohoo! Adrian was amazing, just changed my earrings for the first time and all is well. I've already said good things about the studio's professionalism, cleanliness, etc. so let me now tell you how wonderful Adrian was. I got my first lobe pierce at 18 and Adrian just did my second lobe pierce 38 YEARS LATER - yeah, I forgot the drill and he was patient with my worried calls and so kind. I'm sure all the piercing artists are great, but if I ever lose my mind and go for my third when I retire, I'll be booking with Adrian!!
Fantastic experience: 100000% recommend Hoku! She is so talented & kind! I’ve gotten several tattoos from her. I recommend her to everyone, but particularly if you are looking for a safe/female/queer artist, she’s the best one! I’ve honestly never felt so comfortable with a tattoo artist before. She has a delicate touch, insanely detailed line work & some of the most beautiful & unique designs. Check out @ trashyboyscout on IG.
Fantastic experience: Hoku did my first two tattoos on me. I love them, they are perfect! I get complimented by everyone about how well done they are and the linework was super detailed and perfect.
Fantastic experience: shouting out Antonio @Tattoo Factory!!!!! I brought in my own line art and he did a wonderful job; he was very patient, kind, talented, attentive to details, and he SAW THE VISION!! thank you so much:)
Fantastic experience: Antonio is A M A Z I N G!!!!!!!! Listen my friend and I walked in and requested book tattoos and they look SO good!!!! He is so sweet and personable and just really fun to be around! His work is stunning and he has such great ideas! HIGHLY recommend seeing him!
Fantastic experience: Was visiting Chicago for a concert with a friend and got signatures we wanted tattooed. Walk-ins welcome, open earlier than most & stay open later. Waa hreeted by Mike. He was a sweetheart, easy to talk to & did an excellent job! Highly recommend this shop and Mike... thanks from Ohio, Mike!!
Fantastic experience: I had Jody as my artist I believe, he made my first tattoo experience amazing and gentle. I was so nervous but he was so sweet to me and let me yap about my dad being a tattoo artist. He was a 10/10 person in my book and i hope to see him again next time I visit chicago
Fantastic experience: Jennifer is the freaking best! She is such a sweetheart. She’s kind, professional, knowledgeable, and has amazing energy! Jenny took her time with my piercing. She was very gentle and made me feel super comfortable. She’s a huge asset to this company! If you’re wanting a piercing at this location, Jenny won’t let you down! I promise.
Fantastic experience: Mike Sr. Did my cover up work the picture on the right is the beginning and the picture on the left is the cover up THANK YOU Mr.Mike I am LOVIN IT
Fantastic experience: I came in right before closing and Pablo was still willing to do my tattoo. He was very reassuring throughout the whole process and it turned out amazing! Def book him!
Fantastic experience: The staff was welcoming, knowledgable, and paired me with an artist who they knew would produce what I wanted. Pablo was fantastic!! He is skilled, friendly, and made sure the placement and size of my tattoo fit my criteria. I will be going to him for all future tattoos!!
Fantastic experience: Pablo, not only did he do a awesome job. It was my 1st time getting a tattoo and I was scared. So Pablo was patient with me the whole time. And asked me how I was doing throughout the time as me getting the tattoo. The owner of this place should know how much that ment to a paying customer. And what a good employee they have .
Fantastic experience: Pablo did matching tattoos for me and my boyfriend and he did so good!! Love his line work and he got us in and out of the studio so fast. Thanks Pablo(: I recommend him!
Fantastic experience: I stopped in on a whim for a tattoo that I’ve had in the back of my mind for ages. Joseph did a great job with the shading. The staff was friendly, and Joseph did a terrific job with light and funny conversation throughout. It was my second time visiting. I’ll be back and highly recommend this spot to anyone. Rock and roll.
Fantastic experience: Dan killed it, I never had a tattoo done at a shop before and he did amazing job, I'll definitely be coming here again when I'm in town again.
Fantastic experience: Tattoo Factory was the only piercing shop I could find that carried the right size body jewelry for me. (I got my nipples pierced overseas with the wrong gauge bar and couldn't find shops that carried jewelry my size, since 14 gauge is normal). Tattoo Factory patiently helped find the right size for me and were super kind! Thank you so much!!! You saved my nips!
Fantastic experience: ive gotten multiple tattoos here over the years, and now a piercing. the entire staff is always very friendly & helpful. they make sure you get exactly what you want. :) i definitely recommend this place, its worth paying a little extra for the quality.
Fantastic experience: Just had my first visit. Antonio Quiroz took care of my ink. He was super chill & helpful. Also nothing beats getting distracted with some Rambo on their TV. Highly recommend.
Negative experience: VIBE: Bad vibes and overpriced. I got a warmer reception from the customers in the waiting area then the staff. They all seem like they're passive aggressive, wish you weren't there annoying them and a few slick comments away from blowing a fuse. STAFF/SERVICE: Joe did my tattoo. I told him it was my very first tat ever, and after talking to others about it [post-experience], I should have been offered numbing cream. I also got a nose piercing here. The piercer is the same guy who pierced my man's nose so I was familiar with him. He did a good job. PARKING/MISC: Street parking available but depending on what time of the day you go, it may be difficult to secure a spot because of how many businesses are located on that intersection of Wilson and Broadway. As far as the tattoo itself, I wanted to wait until it was fully healed before I left a review. It looked ok when I left but after time, it got progressively worse. I took amazing care of it during the healing process and still ended up with scaring in the yellow part of the face. ***Which has since reduced significantly, to the point that it's unnoticeable.*** I still feel the lines on this are horrible. I now have to go and get it corrected. You guys should honestly refund me my $180 for this nonsense, and every other person who’s walked out this shop with jacked tats — plus the staff had bad vibes, I’m sorry I hate to say it but they really did. Wouldn’t recommend, go elsewhere.
Fantastic experience: First time getting a tattoo since 2018 and I was glad this place is still reputable and clean. Was tattooed by Jody, just a quick piece on my knuckles but he was professional and kind. I'd be comfortable seeing him for more complex work and comfortable recommending him to others. Thx for the positive experience!
Negative experience: don’t go to Joe he’s rude and unprofessional. my tattoo is patchy, I pointed it out when it was getting done and he just snapped and said “well what do you want me to do about it?” He kept making a lot of rude comments, I told him the tattoo is uneven can he add a bit more ink to the other side and he said all I do is point out negative things and have a negative mindset just because I was upset that it was patchy and uneven. I asked him to fix it and he made rude comments and let out the biggest sigh. I have many tattoos and have worked with many artists but Joe is by far the rudest and most unprofessional one I have encountered. I’ve gone to Tattoo Factory before and I will say everyone is professional and helpful except for him. He seems like he hates his job. I’ve wanted this tattoo for a very long time and it’s upsetting to see it treated with such a lack of care, respect, and professionalism. I wish I got another artist, and now I have to see who can fix my tattoo.
Negative experience: I saw that you asked why. I was having a really awful day already and thought going there would make my day better because I love your shop and go there for most of my tattoos and piercings. I just wasn’t treated well by certain employees and it really made me upset and not want to go there ever again. I usually always have a good experience there. It was such a bummer I was treated badly this time.
Fantastic experience: Shoutout to Antonio from Tattoo Factory! He is a very flexible artist that likes a challenge. My first piece with him was a walk-in last year. The line work was smooth and I gave him creative freedom regarding style after showing him a reference pic. Yesterday’s tattoo was amazing. You can really tell that he enjoys what he does and has great expression within a piece. Just wanted to say thank you, again. I’ll see you soon! Check him out on his instagram @versatile_tattoo
Fantastic experience: Jenny, the piercer, is amazing! I came in (walk-in) to get my first ever ear piercings and she was so sweet and gentle as she talked me through the process and aftercare. She also called me "sweetheart" a lot which I loved. :) 10/10 would recommend!
Fantastic experience: Great experience! Came in as a walk in for a septum piercing and a smallish cherries tattoo that I had a print for. Was in and out in less than 2 hours. Adrian and Jr were both amazing! Receptionist was lovely as well. It’s a walk in based business so just look at the “popular times” on google and go when they’re not super busy. Thanks so much guys!
Fantastic experience: I’ve been to Tattoo Factory a few times over the last several years for various tattoos and piercings and have always had a good experience. The check-in & waiver process is streamlined and easy and the staff are friendly and welcoming, I also find their prices to be extremely fair compared to many other shops. I most recently got a flat piercing & daith jewelry change done by Adrian. Adrian was really professional and kind and the piercing itself was quick and nearly painless. Already plotting my next piercing here ;)
Fantastic experience: Had two lovely experiences with the piercer Jenny. She has been absolutely wonderful. Had both my lobes pierced by her and then came back to have my nipples pierced. I had them done previously and noticed immediate issues with symmetry and issues with the getting inflamed once every few months. Jenny immediately noticed the issues and helped correct them in this piercing. Most def recommend asking for her if you are looking to get something done.
Fantastic experience: I absolutely loved my experience with Antonio! He was light-handed and brought me ease as this was my first large piece. My first session was a success and the outline turned out beautiful. He really saw my vision and brought it to life. I would recommend anyone to book an appointment with Antonio (super easy through his instagram). Overall an amazing experience and can’t wait for my second session and get color!
Negative experience: When i was in undergrad I went here 3 times and got various piercings w/ minimal issues. My stud randomly came out of my nose and I went in to get a new nose ring. When I told the piercer what i was in for she just looked at me blankly and didn’t respond. When I asked her if i could see their options she rudely said “they’re behind you”(no one had directed me once i walked in) . This place is average for sure but I would recommend other places for piercings- they’re not the nicest and don’t have many high quality jewelry options.
Negative experience: I’ve gone here since college to get piercings from Adrian—him, and the other piercer of color there, are gems. The same cannot be said for all the white staff today who were silent when their front desk lady (red hair, black glasses, white) mocked a Black customer’s accent multiple times after the customer left. Absolutely abhorrent. Avoid this racist place at all costs!
Fantastic experience: I got a forward helix from Jenny and she was incredible ($70). She encouraged me to take my time when deciding on placement and spoke so kindly and securely, I felt great. Will definitely be requesting to see Jenny again for future piercings!
Negative experience: Went to get my first Tattoo on May 28 2023 was excited to get my first Tattoo everything went fine at first . It's now December and it has healed but it looks so faded . I tried contacting my Artist Ed Powell and got no response. Went back to the shop and told the lady what was going on she asked who did the work I told her . She than said he had moved to Georgia and asked to look at my Tattoo again and was going to say something but stopped and told me to wait . She came back handed me another Artist Business card and told me I have to email him and wait to set up an appointment. I was annoyed at this point I had Driven an hour for nothing . I have not heard from this Artist I had to go to another Tattoo shop and they couldn't believe that this Tattoo looked so bad . I had to pay to get it redone . Tattoo Factory should have fixed the issue but another shop was awesome in helping me out . Only reason I went here is because my cousin got His tattoo done here and recommended it .I paid so much for a tattoo that faded in only a couple of months . Do not go to this shop .
Negative experience: it has been a year now since i got my nose pierced. i was cleaning it and following the aftercare perfectly and my piercing is still not healed. i will continuously get piercing bumps even a year later. my sister who got her double pierced at the same time says her piercings still hurt and bleed as well. we have other piercings that have healed perfectly so it feels like it was because of the jewelry or the establishment. would not recommend. paid too much money for this piercing and then on top of that for all the aftercare i’ve had to purchase.
Negative experience: I went out of my way to get my doubles back in March of 2023 and now it’s December of 2023 and my piercing is still not fully healed. I have so much scar tissue in the back of both of my ears and six months after getting my ears pierced, I had to go to another place back home to see what’s going on. That girl told me that jewelry shouldn’t have been the one put in at the time of piercing and that the scar tissue I’m developing is not normal. Luckily, nothing was infected and upkeeping on the cleaning of the areas was effective. I had to pay to change out the jewelry on top of the fact that I paid good money to get my ears pierced in the first place. The girl who pierced my ears was very rude and she didn’t give me time to look at the dots she put on my ears before piercing them. Even after I asked once if we could move one up, she was huffing and puffing about it, which made me very uncomfortable. I have other piercings and I’ve never had any problem with the healing process and/ jewelry. I am good about keeping my piercings clean and I completely believe that it was all because of this establishment. Overall, I will not be going back due to poor customer service, poor quality of jewelry, and poor experience with the healing process.
Negative experience: I had a horrible experience with this tattoo shop. I got a red Japanese tattoo on my ankle, and from the start the artist was very rude. I believe his name was Joe, an older thin man. I originally wanted to tattoo on my waist just below my belly, but I was nervous about the placement. Instead of being patient, I was being rushed. To shave the area around my stomach he was urging me to pull my pants down lower to give him room to shave. This was fine, but his attitude wasn't. I kept assuring him that I was only nervous. He responded by saying "Well we don't have any curtains for privacy and if you wanted that you should've went to another shop." Again I was very understanding of his direction, but the way he conveyed it was very harsh and unnecessary. I have many tattoos and none of my artists were ever rude. I get it, we all have jobs and want to be over with it, but a client trusts an artist to permanently alter their skin, the least the artist can do is show a little patience. I changed the placement of the tattoo to my ankle. It was extremely painful because he kept tattoo-ing it over and over again. He mentioned he had to do this in order for the color to show on my complexion so I thought this was normal. The healing process was disgusting. I called and asked to speak to him personally regarding how it healed. When I explained the situation he responded with "Ma'am just tell me the problem, I have way too many people coming in here to remember you." I explained the state of the tattoo. He told me that he warns all his clients before tattooing that getting tattoos in red always have a risk of healing badly. I was absolutely NOT told this!! I asked for the tattoo in red and no one ever mentioned any risks with the color red, especially him!!! I am a darker complexion, so I would've definitely avoided red if I had been told by anyone, if I had the slightest knowledge about this. I even asked if the color would show well on my skin and he told me yes!! I bled ink and blood horribly, my tattoo leaked out of the tape he put within 3 hours. I limped the first few days after getting it, it hurt incredibly bad. (Yes, I followed all of the aftercare instructions, including removing the tape as soon as it was breached). The tattoo looked less like a tattoo and more like I was branded or badly burned. I had to get the tattoo re-done again in black after some time. My current artist told me that whoever originally did it basically mutilated me and damaged my skin over and over. (And that he remembers all of his clients tattoos when he does them). Even now I am having to go back in and get it re-done because the skin was so badly damaged that he's afraid how it will react if he goes any deeper in some spots of the tattoo. Overall, it was a waste of $140 dollars. The artist was very rude, I was never verbally informed about anything, and when I called weeks later his attitude was still sour. I emailed a photo of the tattoo before calling but never received a response. Not from the owner or anyone. As an artist, please learn how to speak to the clients that put their trust in you.
Fantastic experience: Dave was so professional and efficient - he did a quick ear outline for my dog and didn’t make me feel judged for using numbing cream ahead of time. The artwork looks exactly like my beloved pup and I would highly recommend.
Negative experience: Called for general information concerning piercings. Woman who answered the phone gave me some suggestions on removing piercings within a healthcare setting. She was friendly at first but then became passive aggressive when I responded that we have removed piercings with hemostats. She stated "Oh so we're great then, you can remove them right??". Her comment and delivery was inappropriate and uncalled for. I asked for her name and she stated "Ellen". I've spoken to other shops in the Chicago area and they were very helpful, friendly, professional, and knowledgeable. If she was having a bad day, I can understand. But even still, that is not excusable to speak that way to anyone over the phone. Hope you have a better day and thank you for the information that you did help with. Girl bye
Fantastic experience: Great experience. Daith piercing for myself, cartilage piercings for my daughter and sister, regular piercings for my brother. No wait on a Saturday morning. They took the time to explain everything.
Fantastic experience: Jenny is excellent. Probably the best person I’ve ever had an experience with at a shop. I came in in August with a group of friends and Jenny was extremely quick, patient, and kind. (I got a tragus piercing, one friend got a belly button, and another got a medusa.) She walked me through everything and made sure I was comfortable before and after. My jewelry came out (my fault) and I went back to have her look at it. I was in and out within 5 minutes with minimal pain and jewelry back in place. If I was up for another piercing, I’d def see Jenny again, but since I’m not lol, I hope this review encourages others to go see her!
Fantastic experience: Got my first tattoo Sunday and it was honestly a great experience. Antonio did my tattoo and it turned out amazing. Was scared at first but he made me feel comfortable. Shop is also very clean and tidy, And prices are great. Definitely Check out his instagram @ versatile_tattoo
