Fantastic experience: I got my nose piercing here, and the only piercings I’d had before were earrings. The piercer that helped me out was Chucky and he made the experience way less scary and made me feel comfortable the whole time. Everything was quick, clean, and turned out great. I’d definitely recommend this place.

Fantastic experience: Excellent experience! Super friendly guys and my tattoo is perfect! We walked right in and both my husband and I got exactly what we wanted. Great prices too. I would definitely come back again.

Negative experience: Kyle was pretty rude, good work but didn’t like his attitude

Fantastic experience: I had an idea for a killer tattoo. I took it to Mission Beach Tattoo and it was delivered. Kyle was dutifully on it and exceeded. I was able to share it with the one who inspired the concept (Butch the Rhino). He loved it. Not as much as his treats. But he did love it. And I continue to get solid complement for it.

Fantastic experience: Dave had amazing customer service, I went in feeling impulsive and we joked around until I settled on a small design. He was very honest in his opinion about placement and shading which I deeply appreciate!! My brother has wanted tattoos for a while but has been nervous about the experience..He let him watch the whole process while I got mine done and I could see how much more comfortable it made him!! Im super grateful for this experience!!

Positive experience: My wife and I were walk ins. It took a while to get set up and get going so by the end of the session we were practically running out the door because we had been away for hours at that point. We are happy with the quality of the work. The artists are also super cool. Would recommend.

Fantastic experience: My husband and I had a great walk in experience. We came in to get a simple palm tree tattoo at the end of our trip and the time we had with Anthony and Dave was great. The conversations were wonderful and the tattoos were even better! We really appreciate their artistic talent and can’t wait to get tattooed by them when we come back to MB. I saw one of his pieces on the wall, and he showed up super quick to get started (I had a tight timeframe). Mike was super professional, helpful and patient. I’m a week out and just took off the saniderm, everything looks terrific. The other artist in the shop was super helpful as well. Great place, will head back.

Positive experience: My friend and I were on vacation this past weekend and happened to be staying across the street from this tattoo shop. On a whim, we decided to stop in and each get a tattoo. Initially, we thought we’d be getting a fair deal, but the experience turned out to be quite mixed. I’d like to start by commending Kyle, the artist who did my tattoo. He was professional, friendly, and extremely talented. He honored his quoted price of $160 for my seahorse tattoo, and the quality of his work — especially the coloring — was excellent. I give him five stars without hesitation. Unfortunately, my friend’s experience with the other artist, Dave, was the complete opposite. His behavior throughout her session was unprofessional and, at times, inappropriate. He took multiple vape breaks, frequently left the shop mid-session, and returned to tattoo without visibly washing his hands again — which raises serious hygiene concerns. Additionally, his comments toward my friend were disrespectful and made her uncomfortable. The entire interaction gave the impression of someone inexperienced and indifferent to both the craft and the client. To make matters worse, he charged her $300 for a tattoo roughly the same size as mine, despite us being led to believe the prices would be comparable. If prices vary that significantly, that should be communicated upfront — not after the tattoo is finished. Overall, this shop clearly has one exceptional artist, but the unprofessional conduct of another made the experience disappointing. I hope management takes these concerns seriously, because customer trust and professionalism are essential in this industry.

Fantastic experience: Recently got some beautiful work by Kyle- I couldn’t recommend him more! I came in day-of with a few reference photos, explained my idea, and he made my vision come to life. I asked for fine-line and he delivered! His gorgeous shading made the piece pop. I felt comfortable the whole time and am obsessed with the piece. The price was very reasonable especially for all the time he spent designing and then making edits to match my preferences.

Fantastic experience: This place was truly amazing, I went in with a couple of my girlfriends. We all decided to get tattoos. I’ve always wanted the Prince symbol, and so I have it on my left leg. And then I love this place so much I went back two days later and got another tattoo on the another leg. The guys couldn’t have been nicer made me feel so comfortable. And they even had a big mama table for me to lay on. I’m always afraid I’m going to break a table. Of course I haven’t yet but they had one just for me anyways.

I was looking through books as she was getting hers done and saw one that spoke to me. Mr. Aye drew up a version of it for me and I just had to get it. There was no pressure at all. The place was clean and he was great to work with. I was nervous that they weren’t booked out and I could walk in and get a tattoo but I’m so glad I took the chance because it turned out amazing! I love my new tattoo! If I’m ever back in the area I would definitely go back!

Fantastic experience: Was a walk in, and got back and into a chair within 20 minutes at most. Santa Fe did my tattoo and absolutely killed he. We tried out two different spots and he went above and beyond to make sure I was getting the placement I wanted. He also redrew the design to make it perfect for me! My tattoo is the butterfly one. 100% choose mission beach tattoo.

Fantastic experience: I walked in at opening, with my daughter and my best friend, and we were able to all get worked on immediately. We left with 3 matching sand dollars, in exact replicas of another friend’s original art. My BFF & I both have plenty of pieces, but this was my daughter’s first venture and Kyle was amazing with her. He made her feel welcomed and excited, walked her through the entire process, and his overall aura just helped her stay chill. The shop itself is very warm and welcoming, full of traditional art, and has a nice CLEAN lived in feel to it. You can tell they’ve been around forever and aren’t going anywhere, unlike some other studios I’ve had work done in. I had my piece done by Santa Fe and I hope to have the chance to schedule with him again in the very near future. Again, he was very warm and welcoming, and we had some great conversation about Montessori and sea creatures to take my thoughts away from the needle in my ribs. Overall a really great shop, nice and clean, with excellent artists, and good hours. You can’t go wrong here.

Fantastic experience: Mike was awesome we went back and forth about the tattoo I had in my picture in my mind Mike understood what I wanted and then nailed it the tattoo came out exactly how I had imagined even though it is the beginning of a very cool tattoo also my wife also got work done by Kyle who is also very cool these guys are really talented artists and again very cool people we already planned a trip back home to San Diego in July so Mike and Kyle can ink us up again you won't be disappointed if this your first tattoo or if you have twenty these guys are the real deal

Fantastic experience: Mission beach tattoo caught my eye I had planned just to walk in and schedule an appointment considering the size and detail of my tattoo I didn’t think they would be able to see me that day however as soon as I walked in they went straight to work on designing my tattoo and put so much thought and effort into it and I was able to get it that day I had my eyes on this tattoo for a few years and it came out even better than my reference photos thank you so much mission beach tattoo I will definitely be back!:)

Negative experience: We stopped in, and the artist was sitting at the counter. We had 2 people who wanted the same tattoo and the artist said « you want that? » Bizarre experience. I would NOT recommend. I think the dude did not want to work.

Fantastic experience: He was absolutely amazing and had the lightest hand ever, I’ve got 1 and 3/4 sleeve on the other arm and all done by different artist. And Kyle was by far the best hand work and very very very little feeling of the actual tattoo. Worth every penny and an absolute gentleman too very respectful and informative

They were all so laid back, nice, and personable. I loved the little shop dog I got a simple wave design on the back of my neck by Kyle. Fantastic experience: I was in town visiting, stopped in and spoke with Kyle. Showed him the tattoo I had in mind and asked for a few changes to the tattoo. We set an appointment for me to come back in to get it done. When I figured out where I wanted the tattoo placed, Kyle helped point out a better angle on my forearm that would show off the tattoo. Great choice!!! The shop was clean and other artists in the shop were also helpful to their customers in explaining certain areas for tattoo placement. If we come back in town, we would definitely be seeing Kyle for another tattoo!
