Fantastic experience: Was visiting San Diego for the first time in a MINUTE and had some free time while everyone was working and found this shop through social media (TikTok/Instagram) and decided to try my luck as a walk in. The vibes were immaculate all across the board and time flew by while I was getting my piece done! Mikey was my artist (awesome handiwork and super chill), and the same could be said for everyone that was working at the time! I will definitely do my best to come back and bother them some more next time I’m in town or get my friends to get some ink for me. 20/10 !!!

Negative experience: I came here with my boyfriend last November as a walk in. We found the shop on tiktok and it was highly rated so we wanted to check it out. My boyfriend's tattoo turned out amazing and his tattoo artist was fantastic; I think his name was Mikey. I didn't end up getting a tattoo because the guy who was going to tattoo me made me incredibly uncomfortable. His name is Andrew McHue I believe. I asked if it was possible to resize a flash tattoo and he proceeded to give me attitude, then walked away and complained loudly to his coworkers about how it would be too hard for him to do. After hearing this, I didn't feel comfortable having this person put anything on my body. It sucks because he seemed like a great artist and I was really excited to get a tattoo. It's even more disappointing because I read so many good reviews about this place and my boyfriend had a great experience.

Fantastic experience: Great place to get a tattoo! I recently got my first tattoo, at 52 years old. I felt nervous, the staff made me feel comfortable and answered all my questions and concerns. The shop was clean and organized. My Tattoo Artist was Trevor Tipper, he explained all the steps and listened to all my ideas. His stencil was great, and my tattoo came out beautifully. I got some Hawthorne flowers.I really like the way he shaded the leaves, they look so real. I've gotten so many compliments. I loved the way all of the staff got along and how they were positive and complimented each other. It felt like family. Three weeks later I booked another appointment with Trevor. Another beautiful tattoo. Thank you. The experience was great. Definitely recommended.

Fantastic experience: Trevor Tipper was my tattoo artist, and I truly could not have asked for a better experience, especially for my first tattoo. I shared with him that my mom had passed away and that I wanted this tattoo to honor her memory. I explained how much she loved lavender and how important it was for me to carry her with me forever. Trevor was incredibly compassionate and reassuring. He gave me confidence throughout the entire process and made sure I felt comfortable every step of the way. The result was a beautiful tattoo that means more to me than words can express. To top it all off, they even treated me to Chinese food at the end to celebrate, which was such a kind and thoughtful gesture. I genuinely feel blessed to have had him as my artist, and I know my mom would be so happy to see it. Thank you, Trevor, for creating something so meaningful.

Fantastic experience: Visiting for the week, found this shop via social media - had looked into a few - i did not make an appointment so there was a bit of a wait but to be expected IMO & experience. The receptionist is fabulous. The shop is welcoming, bright, clean & traditional I did a halloween flash & a GWYG for some gap fillers & well i love collecting ink from different artists. Andrew was great, definitely a vibe , and i walked out extremely in love with my 2 newest additions

Fantastic experience: Visiting SD from NJ. I wanted a traditional tattoo. I found Sailor’s Grave online. The staff was super cool and very inviting. Josh was my guy as he was available for my walk-in. He was patient as I flipped through a few books of flash. And let me tell you, he absolutely nailed the piece I picked out. I couldn’t be happier with the work he provided. I have family here in so cal, so definitely be back At Sailors Grave.

We walked in about an hour after the shop opened and they were ready for us within a few minutes. We had a great experience. The shop was clean and the staff were so kind. I saw Andrew and he was great, he worked quickly and made sure I was comfortable. He communicated well with me and answered all my questions. I would visit again for sure. Fantastic experience: Matching sister tattoos done by artist Josh ‘BUNZ’ Ortiz. Shop was easy to find and everyone was awesome. BUNZ made my first tattoo experience a good one, I’m ready for another one. Shop was clean, waiting area is a small section of the shop so a friend or 2 max if you need moral support. There’s an ATM in shop as well. All in all if you’re in SD and want a tattoo check out THIS shop! Photos from day they got done and a month after.

Fantastic experience: I got my spotted orb weaver done by ig: phiatattoo who comes down and has travel spots in this shop pretty frequently. absolutely beautiful piece it’s healing better than any of my other tattoos and the tattoo experience was so fun. she worked with me and all my requests tweaking the design and together we made it perfect. she is fantastic. the vibe of the shop is great the seven people in the shop including me were just talking the whole time but even still they were very professional about the tattoo.

The process was super quick and everyone was super kind. My tattoo artist was Andrew and he was awesome. He was gentle but got the piece done super quick. He also checked in with me multiple times throughout the process to make sure I was ok. Overall a 10/10 experience!

Fantastic experience: This is one of, if not, the best tattoo experiences I’ve had! I came in just a client and left with friends. Alyssa at the front desk made a great choice setting up my appointment with Joshua “Bunz” Ortiz. I had a reference photo and an idea and “Bunz” was able to take it and make it his own with precision and dedication to details while keeping and surpassing my expectations. “Bunz”’s energy rubs off on you and he’ll have you laughing no matter what, staying engaged on the tattoo and checking in on how you’re doing throughout the session. We powered through the underside of a sleeve from open to close and despite the tiring work he and the others at the shop made the experience feel like a hangout. They were able to get me a coffee to enjoy during a break and even offered to get me some food as the session progressed. I declined, but even so “Bunz” shared a churro with me that I didn’t realize I needed. I will be back soon to finish the rest of the arm!

Fantastic experience: I was very nervous going into get my sleeve done, I had an idea of what I wanted but other shops I’d stopped into made me feel almost dumb for wanting it. The first time I walked into Sailors Grave I was met with so much warmth. Josh (Ortiz) jumped right in being his bubbly self, he was so excited and thorough with the consultation it made me fall back in love with my idea. Every step of the way he would be his authentic self with lots of fun conversation and making sure I was okay. The whole sleeve took three sessions each one better than the last, I would always leave and be excited to come back. The line work and shading was done beautifully and has healed wonderfully. I came out of this experience feeling so confident and with a new friend. Couldn’t thank Josh enough!

Fantastic experience: My friend and I waited about 3.5 hours for the Friday the 13th deal. They close at midnight so we were some of the last customers of the day. Mikey did my tattoo and even though he was very tired he was patient and took the time to still do a good job. It was $40 for a tattoo but you have to pick from preset designs. I picked some stars and Mikey added a few extra dots to make it “sparkle”. The staff is nice.

Fantastic experience: Gary covered up a name on my hand with a rose , kept it minimal in size and could never tell the name was there . Super clean professional and quick. 100% recommend this shop . Even took $50 off my bill because it went quicker then expect.
