Fantastic experience: I saw the HammerHead trailer parked at the beach and later messaged through instagram - Nasa was very responsive and within a few days I had my very first tattoo! Unfortunately the weather was terrible on the day so no beach views for me but the van is awesome, modern clean and spacious. Chilled vibe, I was given plenty of options for the font and questions answered and it was all done within 30mins. Highly recommend from a first timer

Fantastic experience: I had a wonderful experience at Hammerhead. Nasa is gifted with artistic style, a wonderful personality, and a LOT of skill as a tatto artist. I was unsure of how to combine my various inspiration pictures/ideas. Nasa was patient and thorough in helping me create my tattoo, encouraging input while also providing an opinion on what he thought might look good/bad. My tattoo had a really challenging/painful placement, but he was incredibly patient and helpful, full of advice and open to taking breaks as needed. I couldn’t stop flinching and it was a 3 hour tattoo, which I know made it a challenging tattoo for him, but it genuinely looks so crisp and perfect. Lastly, it has healed without even bleeding and looks amazing. Best tattoo experience I could’ve asked for

Fantastic experience: Banko at Hammerhead Tattoo the Mount was really awesome to work with super quick with a quote and he was able to do the design that I wanted but added his own ingenuity. I am really happy with the outcome and have gotten a lot of compliments from friends and family so I would highly recommend Banko!!

Negative experience: First of all, shout out Sando, he tattooed me and my friends and did an incredible job all by himself, all day. However, the Brazilian man that apparently owns the shop sent this message to my friend, which I found utterly disgusting. I asked him hesitantly the question of why he charged my boyfriend $250 when his was the quickest tattoo of all which has a lot less detail and didn’t need any designing, when he charged my friend $200 for a tattoo that took the longest and that he also worked on on his iPad therefore a lot more intricate. He charged my other friend $200 for two tattoos that took a while. He charged me $100 for a tiny tattoo and if he wants to tell me to go back home and find the same quality for that price I’ll tell him I certainly can for less than that. To send my friend that message not welcoming me back for asking a genuine question about inconsistent pricing is way too far in my opinion. And when this man took his top off and made us all uncomfortable we didn’t complain about that did we. So as you sat there cracking jokes whilst your mate did the hard work, I hope you were thinking about how you need to not rip people off. Again, shout out Sando but I hope you leave for someone who appreciates you.

The owner and staff were nothing but friendly and welcoming, giving their honest and professional opinions while helping us choose the right tattoos and making it work for us. 100% professional, conversing and joking around with us through the whole process of choosing and getting the tattoo done, making us feel comfortable from the moment we walked in to the store to moment we left the store. Fantastic experience: A couple friends and I walked into Hammerhead to get a group tattoo just as a whim. So glad we chose this studio, the guys were super friendly, chatty and extremely experienced and professional at their job. I had Nigel and he provided great conversation and as someone who already has many tattoos done elsewhere was very impressed with his light hand and his work ethic. Thank you to the team for having to put up with us rowdy bunch especially the next day when we came in after some drinks to say hello and they gave us some tattoo cream! I hope to come back and get another tattoo when i’m back up in the North next and will recommend them to anyone looking for a great tattoo experience in the mount! :)

Fantastic experience: I never thought in the back of my mind, when I was younger in Brazil, I would be having my best tattoo in the middle of the Pacific, listening to Ratos do Porão, Motorhead and Cypress Hills and NZ Reagge too. I ended up having the best piece of art (a Māori style tattoo) in my calf done by Nigel Martin.
