Positive experience: Great studio with exceptional hygiene and cleanliness throughout. The receptionist is friendly, there is room to take a break and breathe and the studio is welcoming with unusual decor.

Fantastic experience: Absolute top notch tattoo studio and I'd go as far to say there's nobody around Moray or Aberdeen that are even close to the talent this studio has. My artist was Maciej and the guy is proper talent, was blown away by the spartan tattoo that he done for part of my upper sleeve. Nice guy that I can tell takes pride in his work with how he cleans his tattoo continuously, takes time to step back to look at it and is seriously lazer focused once he gets going no messing about. He also does take a few breaks which is very welcoming because it is nice to get a breather every few hours giving the pain side of things. Also after having a bad experience with a previous tattooist Maciej said he would take it on and try to improve it somehow where I know a lot would refuse me straight out so can't thank him enough for that. It's fair to say for all my tattoo's going ahead and both sleeves I won't be letting anyone else ink me other than Maceij proper talent. Also you can see the rest of the team are serious talent too and the general manager was lovely and friendly too. It's the little things just getting offered a coffee even to some cake which stand out while the cleanliness was superb. All in all I won't be recommending another tattoo studio around my area to friends or family other than sending them to Aberdeens Yarson studio. Keep up the creativity

Fantastic experience: Had the pleasure of coming across yts aberdeen when guest tattooist sohta takimoto popped up on my feed and managed to get a booking , I will be back to yts for residents work, 100 percent, they are all fantastic looking at their work over the 2 days while I was there, wished I had knew about these guys sooner !!!

Fantastic experience: I was lucky enough to spend 4 full days in this studio over the last couple of months getting a back piece designed and created by Michal to cover up a horrible piece of Chinese writing on my lower back (not done by them!). His work is exceptional, along with his attention to detail bringing my ideas to life. Absolutely delighted with the end result and now just to think about what I can go for next!! Additionally the studio is extensively clean, and the staff really friendly and welcoming. Zero hesitation to recommend YTS as the best studio around. Can’t wait to return and absolutely will do so.

Negative experience: Got an unfinished statue-themed tattoo sleeve which was from Yarson and, to give a completely honest review, the overall experience was very mixed and ultimately disappointing. The biggest issue throughout the process was communication and reliability. There were multiple reschedules and cancellations despite me travelling long distances, booking hotels, arranging transport, and paying deposits. On one occasion, I travelled all the way to Aberdeen only to find out Yarson was not even there. I also found the design process frustrating. I was asked to send over ideas and references, but when I arrived for appointments after travelling hundreds of miles, I would often be shown a completely different concept from what I had actually requested. Designs were usually only revealed on the day of the appointment rather than beforehand, which made it difficult to give proper input or make changes without pressure. There were also occasions where it felt like little or no preparation had been done beforehand, with ideas seemingly only being looked at on the actual day the tattoo was meant to begin. When I tried to discuss changes or explain what I originally wanted, the response often came across as dismissive or arrogant, with comments such as, “I’m the tattoo artist, I’ve been doing this 14 years,” or “Do you think I have time to design when I have kids?” At one appointment, I found myself in a heated discussion explaining that the design presented to me was completely different from what I had expected. The appointment ultimately had to be cancelled because there was not enough time to redesign it properly. Only after this point did he start to listen and turn my ideas into a workable concept and worked with me to find something that he was happy doing and aligned with me. I had already spent hundreds of pounds travelling and around 8–9 hours getting there to return back home with nothing and having to wait an additional 8 months for him to be available. While I respect Yarson’s experience as an artist, ultimately the tattoo is going on my body for life and I was paying a significant amount of money for the work. Yarson explained that he prefers full creative control, which is fair to a point, but that should not mean completely disregarding or ignoring the client’s ideas or responding negatively when concerns are raised. Another issue was the lack of clarity around how many sessions would be needed to complete the sleeve. At times, it genuinely felt as though the process was being unnecessarily dragged out, with every additional day charged at full rate. I eventually sent a polite email simply asking for clearer communication regarding how many sessions remained, but this was met very negatively, as though I had done something wrong for asking the question. Touch-ups were another area where communication changed over time. Earlier in the process, I had been told that if certain areas needed multiple passes, I would not continue being charged repeatedly for the same work. Later, this changed to being asked to pay full day rates for touch-ups. I was still willing to pay, but when I referred back to the earlier conversations, I was accused of expecting free work, which was never the case. The situation eventually ended with Yarson repeatedly messaging me on Instagram, along with messages from reception, saying he would refuse to continue the sleeve unless I apologised and “grovelled,” despite the fact I had always attended appointments, travelled long distances it took me 8 - 9 hours travel and 400 miles away , paid in full every time. As a result, I am now left with an incomplete sleeve tattoo, which I feel was extremely unfair from Yarson. The tattoo work itself does have quality, but overall the experience, communication, professionalism, and treatment as a paying customer were disappointing. Now I am left with essentially an incomplete tattoo sleeve.

Fantastic experience: I came to the studio for the first time a few days ago to get my back done by Johny. He did such an amazing job and I am absolutely in love with my tattoos. He was so patient with me wanting to try different sizes and positions for the stencils. The studio had such a nice environment and everyone was so lovely. I would definitely recommend anyone thinking of getting a tattoo here to get one!

Fantastic experience: On behalf of My father (allan) was first time at yarson studio where I got a portrait of my late wife lorriane of 50 years. It was an emotional day as she passed only 4 weeks prior to the tattoo. I Was looked after by all staff very well! My artist for the day was Maz. I’m honestly blown away by my portrait tattoo. The detail, shading and likeness are spot on. You took so much care throughout the session and made the whole experience really comfortable. Also Can't thank Nicole for helping me on such an emotional day!! Maz has made this more than just an image/tattoo, he has given me my late wife lorriane back to me. Would 100% recommend Yarson tattoo studio to anyone.

Positive experience: I've long admired Yarson's work, so I was excited to have an all-day session with him to get a memorial portrait tattoo. I'm very happy with how the tattoo turned out. My experience in the studio was mixed. I received a warm and friendly welcome, and the modern studio is full of energy with lots going on. Some printer issues delayed our start, so I watched most of Bumblebee which was showing on the TV in the waiting area. There were tattoo magazines to look through too. The vibe in the tattoo room might be a little intense for some - several artists all working in the same open space, with speakers and TVs mounted on each wall. I'd recommend that you bring headphones in case it's not your scene. Yarson was very friendly and conscientious, making sure to check in with me often and offering breaks. As the owner of the studio and it being the day before his Christmas holidays, he was frequently interrupted. This didn't seem to bother him and he typically kept working while chatting. One thing that left an impression was when I went to the toilet and a member of staff in the reception area was telling a group of people about how a colleague had shouted at her. This felt uncomfortable to overhear. I also witnessed another artist speaking incredibly bluntly to another first-time client. Mutual respect and trust are so important in the tattoo process, and in their shoes I would have walked out. Yarson identified that I have sensitive skin and dealt with it expertly. As a result, the tattoo healed beautifully. It was my first time using Tattoo Armour and H2Ocean ointment, and both seemed to work well. I felt welcome to contact the studio had I had any issues or questions during healing. While I'm sure that it wasn't the intention, the way that communication was handled post-tattoo made me feel hassled. In the studio I was asked to send a photo of my tattoo after five weeks. Four weeks later I received a missed call, a voicemail asking me to call them back, and a text, all within a couple of minutes. There was no emergency - they just wanted to see a photo of my tattoo. I replied saying that I planned to send a photo at the five week mark as agreed. A week later I received a fairly blunt email asking for a photo. To be brutally honest it made me feel like a piece of meat wearing the studio's work. I fully appreciate the investment that artists have in the healing of their work, but the communication around this could have been handled in a more considerate way. I would recommend this studio to someone who absolutely loves the style of an individual artist who works there; for me, while the experience overall was mixed, I came away with what I went there for, which is a gorgeous portrait tattoo from one of the best there is. For someone who's looking to get their first tattoo, I might recommend looking elsewhere, as some of the things I experienced were a bit off-putting and might feel even moreso to a first timer. I'd also recommend that anyone who's had their consultation via email due to distance to have other placement options thought through in advance, as this might need to be changed on the day. If you're travelling for your tattoo and planning on staying overnight, the Residence Inn by Marriott is very comfortable and a short walk away.

I could not be happier with the end result of the tattoo all the attention to detail is just amazing.

Fantastic experience: Shaun D at yarson tattoo studio after 2 sessions finished off (for now) an oasis design on my leg, couldn’t have asked for it to be any better. After initially changing my first idea and Shaun coming up with a completely new design I was a bit hesitant but after seeing what he came up with I knew it would be spot on. Everyone at YTS is so so talented and feel welcome as soon as you step in the door.

Fantastic experience: This morning I was searching for a place to have a tattoo done when I came across Yarson as they had won over 80 awards it was a given for us as this was my sister's very first tattoo but my first in Aberdeen & wanted a matching Tattoo to remind us of our trip home, we would highly recommend this shop to anybody wanting a tattoo. Firstly we were greeted by Nicole at the desk & after asking if we would be able to get one done today Shaun agreed to it, after telling him what we wanted he then went back to design our tattoo. Nicole even offered us a cuppa whilst we waited. She was a very pleasant person to talk too. Shaun made my sister feel at ease & comfortable as this was her very first one & we were very pleased with the end result... Thankyou once again to Yarson Tattoo Studio for a great experience & will definitely be back on our next trip home..

Fantastic experience: I was in today to see peter to get a tattoo of my boy who I lost back in march. The staff are so incredibly friendly and the atmosphere is spot on! I'm actually blown away with the detail that's went into this tattoo (I can't stop looking at it) it looks exactly like my boy. Even my mum who hates tattoos loves it. The artwork is absolutely fantastic, the team is amazing, and the banter is great. I've been really well looked after, and the communication has been top-notch. Fantastic experience: In Scotland for the first time and we decided to get tattoos. We saw Yarson Tattoo Studio while having lunch and did a search of their work. They are all amazing but have to give extra kudos to Karolina. My daughter reached out via Instagram and we got a response and appointment within 24 hours. Karolina did both mine and my daughter’s tattoos. She has lots of examples on instagram of her large pieces (freaking unreal how good they are!) but my daughter and I wanted fine line pieces. She did both of those and added some stars around an existing fine line tattoo for me. Her fine line work put my previous artist to shame. Her lines are so clean and steady. If you want an amazing tattoo whether big or small, go see Karolina!

Fantastic experience: The staff in YTS are amazing and friendly and make you feel very welcome. I got Karolina to do my dog portrait as she had passed away and the end result of the tattoo is absolutely fantastic and is exactly like her. I can not thank her enough for this and I will be returning to get her to do my other dogs as well. Karolina is very talented and makes you feel at ease while she is doing the tattoo. Probably best tattooist place I have been to.

Fantastic experience: Amazing experience at Yarson Tattoo Studio. Went in looking to get a western leg sleeve. Jonny (artist) took my ideas and came up with an incredible design. Still a few sessions to go. Made to feel completely at ease not only by Jonny but every artist within the studio. The studio manager is always on hand for a cup of tea or anything that you need. The collaboration between the artists is outstanding. All getting each others thoughts and ideas on their pieces. At one point Yarson took over in my first session for a new technique he was teaching. Every artist came over to watch. A great experience. I would go no where else now for a tattoo. Without doubt an incredible studio, amazing artists and an unforgettable experience.

Fantastic experience: I went to Yarson Tattoo Studio for my first ever tattoo, the whole of the staff are very welcoming and friendly. i felt very comfortable while i was there. i love my tattoo so much and enjoyed my experience in the tattoo studio. i can’t stop looking at my tattoo i love it. Shaun was the tattoo artist, he was very kind and explained everything thorough. His design style is amazing and i would definitely go back again.

Fantastic experience: I just had one of the best, most memorable experiences of my life at Yarson’s Tattoo Studio. I’m quite heavily tattooed from a previous studio. I had always wanted to go to YTS, but I felt quite a bit of loyalty to the old place. Both my wife and I have autism and ADHD, along with hidden physical disabilities, so wanting to move on to somewhere as talented as YTS made me feel worried because I was coming out of my comfort zone. I managed to get an appointment with Maciej when he had a free day session. I spoke to him over Instagram the night before and he was so kind, caring and quick to respond. I gave him a lot of pics to choose from the general vibe I was going for. He is so incredibly artistic he could visualise where I was heading and incorporated everything I wanted. I completely understand that tattoo artists take pride in their work, but I felt like my last studio were almost just saying “no” to anything I wanted, because I pick quite weird portraits and not off of a flash sheet. Maciej was more than able to take everything I wanted but advise on what would work better in what place without dismissing my ideas. It can get slightly upsetting to anybody “normal” when something that is being put on your body for life is being disregarded. But Maciej was more than happy to listen, send over details and it made me excited for the next day. I wanted a tattoo of Carmen from The Bear. It holds a very special inner meaning to me. It was to be a full day session and happy to get it done all in one day. I walked in and met the absolutely lovely Nicole at reception. She was so incredibly kind and chatted with my wife when I was in the chair. I met Maciej and he already had the design completely done on his iPad. Usually, some artists will dig into your paid time to sit on their iPad, but Maciej was ready to get going. He showed me the design and it was far and away already the best tattoo I could ever imagine. Apart from being immensely talented, Maciej and the crew are incredibly welcoming and they all seem to love their job. Being quite wound up about a new environment, it couldn’t have gone better when coming in. A lovely, ultra clean and spacious studio, tons of equipment ready to go. If you’re worried that it will have that presumed “tattoo studio” vibes where you might go to get your first tattoo, and everyone is kinda in your space and judging your tattoo, then this absolutely will not happen at YTS. The amount of space and the artistry of each person there means you feel like you’re alone and can get into the zone. It’s a tough job willingly giving your body a lot of needles, so to feel like you get your own privacy is wonderful. Maciej was in the zone and just worked away while I got to zone out and think about what I was feeling getting something so personal, which I really appreciated. Any question I had for him, he was right there to talk about why something would work artistically. It was the most chill session ever. He works in such an incredible way where instead of doing small line work then building up to incredibly painful shading in stages, he would stand back at look at his art to decide on the need for each needle based on different areas. The detail is unreal and huge. It looks like it literally just flows into my skin. I had not ever experienced tattooing in the way that he does it. It almost has a “photo negative” look to it, where the bits that another artist may use tons of black on, he has used different forms of shading and not line work outline (which I hate being done haha). He managed to incorporate a quote into the portrait’s hair, which looks absolutely incredible. Instead of using just plain black for the quote, he also used a great technique on making the quote by using my skin and surrounding it by the portrait. It’s very, very hard to describe how talented Maciej is and how incredible the work is without pictures, so please look up his instagram. Thank you for everything. Maciej said he was looking forward to more of our work going ahead. I cannot agree more. It was a pleasure!

Negative experience: Very disappointed with this place after hearing the reputation it is supposed to have. I had a two day tattoo booked for several months and 3 days prior to the first session I was told that the dates had to be moved two months ahead due to yarson returning ill from a trip. I stated I was okay still continuing as I’m not a person that gets ill and couldn’t change the holidays booked off work, but was told that it wasn’t possible due to possibly making everyone else in the studio ill. Which is fair enough. So I went in 1 day before my first session was meant to be to collect my deposit back, and he was there in the studio. They first tried hiding the fact he was there by closing the doors from the reception to the tattoo room until another artist who was unaware of the situation said he was there and asked if I needed to speak to yarson. I have several emails back and forth with them stating he cannot be in the studio due to being around other people from how ill he was. Also to add to the whole lie they tried getting me in the day before I actually collected the money and said I wouldn’t be able to get it any other day, obviously knowing that he was going to be in. Very unfair and very unprofessional of them. I had many future plans to use them for several tattoos but not anymore.

Fantastic experience: "More I'm looking at my tattoo, more I love it". I went to Yarson Tattoo Studio this last week for the last session of my first tattoo. I could have confirmed even after the first session what awesome job Shaun Flinn has done on my back. Very professional, experienced and friendly guy as it also is all of the staff. Clean, comfortable and amazing studio. So, apart from saying thank you so much, I'm definitely thinking to be back in the future and in the meantime I would highly recommend

If you're nervous about a tattoo give them a ring, Nicole the manager is a Saint and will recommend you ideas and artists based on your ideas

Fantastic experience: Just finished another 2 day session with Yarson within Yarson Tattoo Studio. It’s a been a great experience on both occasions. The studio is spotless and all the artists/staff are extremely polite and welcoming from the beginning until end! The quality of the tattoos from all the artists I saw was of the highest standard with a wide variety of styles. I can’t wait to get booked in again for another tattoo.
