Negative experience: Had my nose piercing done in and around october last year, piercing never healed and was pierced wrong. went for a tongue piercing because no where else was available and there were no appointment so i decided to try again and they pierced me with a tiny bar, placing was alright, sterile and clean but I dont trust this place as theyve messed up my piercings twice now.

Fantastic experience: It's been a while since I came here and I popped in on the off-chance they could change some jewellery for me as I have an MRI coming up. I needed 7 different retainers, they had more than enough in stock and it was absolutely no trouble. While there I spotted a few nice bits of jewellery to buy in the morning to replace the old bars and hoops, that will look so much better. Never once have I ever been made to feel unwelcome or feel like I've asked stupid questions over the years coming to here. Other piercing salons could well take a lesson in basic customer service from Abacus if they appreciate returning customers.

Fantastic experience: Went for 2 dermal piercings on my chest today, had 1 other previous. Always a pleasure, quick and easy, sanitised, professional and friendly. Lovely staff always with a smile. And the studio itself is very comfortable and welcoming. Very highly recommend! :)

Negative experience: Don’t get pierced here- they let you walk out dripping with blood and it’s dangerous, increases the risk of infection and blood borne pathogens. They shouldn’t let you leave the room bleeding let alone the studio. They also use huge needles that cause excessive bleeding Edit in response- I’ve been pierced here where this has happened to me. Also sat in the waiting room whilst a girl came out and sat next to me with a blood soaked tissue over her ear. If you read below reviews I’m not the only one who has had this experience

Positive experience: it was good, the piercer was so so kind, and had a nice seating area for when you wait. The only downside is that people arent allowed in the room with you. other than that, it was fab. She offered having a teddy to hold, if she wants to let you know when she will pierce, just overall a fab experience

Negative experience: The staff were really rude to me and my friend especially the man who does the tattoos he was extremely rude and unwelcoming won’t be coming here again.

Fantastic experience: I've been here a few times, booked in rapid and had numerous tattoos done, mainly by Stu who is fast on the artwork and doesn't mess around.

Fantastic experience: I had my nose and eyebrow pierced by Nik. She was very patient when I asked to see what different placements would look like on my eyebrow and she made me feel extremely welcomed and relaxed even though my palms were sweating and I was shaking minutes prior. I would 100% recommend a piercing here. Pain level for both was less than a 4. Also very good price for both and I was given an aftercare sheet.

Fantastic experience: I've had my vertical labret done here and a few bar changes for my eyebrow piercing and my septum piercing and the staff are very lovely, I fainted when I had my vertical labret done as I was really worked up and the worker was really sweet gave me water and ensured I was okay and the size changes are really quick, I also had my belly pierced and they gave me a lolly because I felt faint and it was really sweet.

Fantastic experience: I’ve had my first tattoo done at Abacus, recently had my lip and just above colour bone pierced too as well as another tattoo and one in middle of being drawn up for a cover tattoo. The girls are polite and amazing really help with any enquiries regarding what I want. They go above board to help with a smile. Not sure on the tattooists name who did my tattoo back in may but he was good made me feel at ease great work too. Abacus is a clean and friendly place where il be visiting again for my next tattoo and piercing keep up the good works guys highly recommend.

Negative experience: Terrible place do not go here, the receptionist is a horrible human being and the rudest women I've ever met, she has no customer service skills. She seems to hate her job, definitely needs sacking. I've spoken to a few people and they say she a creature..

Over the years iv been on this earth all piercings have gone infected at other places decided to give these ago & hands down it's been the best decision to make my nose has healed lovely & I haven't had any problems what's so ever with it coming back today for another!

Fantastic experience: Nik was lovely she took me through to get my nose pierced. She made me feel comfortable it didn't hurt just a slight discomfort wasn't too bad at all. I highly recommend Nik for piercings. The room was sterile and clean.

Fantastic experience: Been here twice myself now and my mate has also been here as well. Have an amazing experience all three times. Had a really nice conversation and laugh with the saff. Staff:They are amazing and keep you calm and explain the process if necessary. What had: On my first visit about 2 months ago I had my thirds done. The person doing was really carm & chill as we were doing it. Making sure I liked the placement of them with a dot before actually doing it. Second visit: On my second visit I had my septum done which I was very excited about. The same lovely staff member pierced me again. She talked me through the process and made sure I was carm.

Fantastic experience: Absolutely amazing place. Been coming here since I was around 13 and haven't changed since. I've had 9 piercings since then and they've all healed so easily and quickly( I'm not saying everybody would have a quick healing process). The piercers and everybody there is so lovely. I went back today to get my belly repierced I was so nervous but the piercer who did it was so kind and had a really nice conversation with her. Would definitely recommend to everyone for piercings. And the prices are not bad at all for saying how amazing the piercings are.

Negative experience: Pierced my tragus way to close to the edge of the tissue. Also used jewellery far too big meaning it moved all the time. Had to go to a different piercer to change the jewellery down and hope it doesn’t reject.

Fantastic experience: Very cute place, had my double nose piercings done there and I LOVE THEM!

Fantastic experience: I have had both of my spider bites, my nose and my eyebrow peirced here, and every single peircing was done so perfectly. They really like to take their time and ensure that your peircings are in line with eachother and they bend over backwards with their after care! I have never had a tattoo from here so I cannot comment on how they perform them, but I have found my peircing studio for life, as they have a very good mix of professionalism and friendliness that you honestly can't find anywhere else in derby. 10/10 recommend especially if it's your first peircing.

Fantastic experience: I went in today to get a stacked lobe and first lobe done. The staff are very welcoming and make you feel comfortable. The piecer was very meticulous in making sure that the piercings were lined up properly and looked even to make a triangle. She also made sure I was happy with the markings before going in. I would recommend going to abacus for piercings as i have also had my anti-tragus and second lobe done on my left ear.

Fantastic experience: I had the best experience yesterday getting my nose pierced, I wish I remembered the piercers name (she has blonde hair and glasses) she made me instantly feel welcome and at ease with how lovely she was , I only ever go to abacus for my piercings (I’ve had 13 piercings) and I will definitely be returning to get more.

Negative experience: Do not touch this place with a barge pole! I took my daughter today - July 2023 - for a naval piercing, I asked the woman if I could go in with my daughter who replied ‘if she’s old enough to have this piercing then she’s old enough to do it on her own’! I said but she’s under age (15) How rude was that! Then the 24 hr covering for the piercing, which should be sterile - is a piece of kitchen roll held on with cellotape! Stay away!

Fantastic experience: 100% recommend, I got my belly button pierced today and my mum got her helix. I’m so happy with the outcome, as straight as I went in the lady ( I think her name was lauren) was so nice, and lined up my the piercing and then let me check in the mirror to see if it’s what i want. She got on with it so quick, and even numbed it. I will definitely be going back for my ears and my mum for a second ear pierce.

Negative experience: Basically made to feel like an idiot had communicational reasoning thrown in my face for non engagement. Waited two weeks and still was spoken to like a mug because they did not receive the pictures that I had sent using the agreed methods.

Fantastic experience: Never have any problems, all 3 of my tattoos are amazing, there are little imperfections due to my EDS (chronic illness) but i love them regardless, the tattooist is amazing very welcoming and has done a smashing job on all 3 of them even today with my ribs sublaxing and muscles twitching (part and parcel of eds). I cannot recommend him more! Art work is second to non. The place is uber clean! And he just puts you at ease 10 out 10 Thank-you guys for being amazing.

It was my first time using a needle rather than a gun and she was understanding and explain each step of the way to reassure me since I was a bit nervous. All the staff were friendly and helpful. Fantastic experience: My tattooist was so cool, she was super relaxed and even though I was nervous she reassured me and it was over before I knew it. It’s been just over a year since I got it pierced and I obviously kept it very clean, but i have had absolutely no problems! Couldn’t recommend Abacus any more!!! Can’t wait to return to get my belly pierced. Only thing I would like is for them to sell and pierce with solid gold piercings!

Fantastic experience: Several years ago Abacus had a bad reputation I'm very happy to say that today they proved differently to me today. Lovely female staff and very sterile clean room. Currently gem bars are part of the £20 payment (rightly so!) unfortunately, this is not the norm. Will be coming again for next piercing

Negative experience: I now have a messed up ear because of This place, no sympathy or empathy for what it looks like now. All they could say is “yeah that happens” manager was more worried about correcting me on the price I said I payed and basically call me a liar.

Fantastic experience: I switched from one piercing shop to Abacus. Now whenever I go back for piercings I’ve fallen in love with them again. The service every single piercer has given has been stellar. They’re sincere and look after even the shy (me). Sure piercings are painful, but the proficiency of all the staff make it so easy it’s over before you process. service is absolutely worth the money I can’t recommend enough xxx

Fantastic experience: I used Abacus Tattoo & Piercing Studio in Derby firstly when I needed my right eyebrow piercing removed at short notice. When every other piercing studio in Derby told me I needed to make a booking in order to do this (some trying to offer me a booking weeks into the future, which was of no use to me) and wanted to charge me certainly more than Abacus did, Abacus told me they could do it as a walk-in and charged me only £1 for the service. Amazing. I have since had two piercings done here - septum and right eyebrow, again - and the service has been excellent both times. Low prices and both of the women who performed my piercings were friendly, professional, quick and put me at ease. Could not recommend Abacus highly enough. Unfortunately I am not planning any further piercings right now and I already have a regular tattooer however I would certainly recommend Abacus to a friend for piercings (can't comment on tattoos as haven't had any here). Negative experience: Extremely low quality of ‘art’. Service not good, overpriced and not professional. Unfortunately my first tattoo in Derby. Wasn’t happy with the result, went back for consultation, was told my tattoo looked great and that the bad results was fault of my skin, and my bra. Would definitely not recommend.

Negative experience: Traumatic experience- stay away! About two years ago I had my helix piercing at abacus and then later had my piercing changed to a ring there. Both experiences were good and it was known as the place to go for piercings. So I thought nothing of it to go back and have my piercing changed to a ring without a ball on it, as the ball often causes me irritation when it swings round. I do have a slight bump on the back of my ear that has been there since I changed the piercing to a ring but it wasn’t significant and was like the skin had grown round a bit as the ring was curved. I went to abacus, paid for my new ring and then was called in my a very unfriendly lady. I tried to make conversation as she seemed so unhappy. I sat down and she said she didn’t know if she’d be able to change it but would try, as she took the piecing out- this gave me no opportunity to say “let’s leave it then”. I am also 7 and a half months pregnant so if she thought it would be more difficult she should have told me to wait until after I had given birth. After about 15 minutes of her jabbing, poking and prodding me with the ring to try to get the new ring and then the old one back in, the lady who served me in reception comes in and ask if she can help. The piercer says no and continues to try to get it in. By now they have a tissue covered in my blood. Eventually the lady from reception tries, she is much more gentle but still cannot do it (of course by now my whole ear is bright red and swollen so of course she won’t get it in). She tries a straight bar and then a curved bar to try and feed the ring in after. This doesn’t work so they decide to leave the curved bar in. The whole time they original piercer is spewing out rubbish about why this didn’t work (all of which means she shouldn’t have tried), almost trying to place the blame on me. My husband had been told to wait outside so had text me asking if everything was okay as I had now been in there around half an hour. I said thank you and on my way out asked whether I had paid for the jewellery or to change it. They said the jewellery and I had new jewellery in (a curved bar I didn’t want!). So I left, after paying for jewellery I didn’t want, with a very sore, swollen ear being told I would have to clean it for two weeks as if I had had it pierced. You’re supposed to lie on your left when pregnant but they told me I can’t lie on my piercing, which is on my left. I came out the shop and burst into tears as it was so traumatic. I will never, ever go there again and would advice you to stay away! Having spoken to people since they said it has gone downhill since the last tattoo artist/ piercer left.

Negative experience: Ended up in a&e because of a peircing done here. Don't reccomend at all. The peircing aftercare spray they give is just water and does nothing, peircings are lopsided, and people kept walking out bleeding while I was waiting

Negative experience: Got my ears peirced here 5 weeks ago. Both earrings became embedded even when I cleaned them daily, one of them was peirced off centre anyway, parents can't go in with their kids for some reason and they don't clean up any blood which is just unhygienic

Negative experience: Would not go to this piercing parlour had my naval done here the right equipment wasn’t use resulting in my naval piercing being horizontal wasn’t asked on the placement either. Asked to have redone was told it’s straight so I went to get a second opinion which confirmed it is horizontal. Asked to have redone again or refund which they have refused and have to pay again if I want it redoing.

Negative experience: Not good . Dark and dingy . Daughter had ear pierced and I was told to wait outside the building? She's only 14 years old . Wish I had taken her somewhere else . She came out and she was bleeding quite badly . Which was really poor aftercare. But I didn't to take her back in fear of any infection . Would not recommend it at all
