Fantastic experience: Highly recommend steel n ink, shop is very clean and sanitary. Great experience staff was friendly and helpful, Tubyx is an amazing artist very kind and great artist he really takes pride in his work and will always give u a great tattoo experience. I’ve trusted Tubyx too tattoo me more than once as I am a returning client and he never disappoints great guy great work. If you find your self at steel n ink in Guelph definitely book with Tubyx he is very detail oriented and does amazing work. Fantastic experience: Vicc is a highly skilled, extremely knowledgeable, and super friendly (and funny!) piercer. I came in with a difficult, inflamed piercing that I had been struggling to remove on my own without causing pain. She removed it in literally two seconds, and I barely felt a thing. Her precision and super nimble technique were seriously impressive. She took her time during the appointment, which I really appreciated, and gave thoughtful, helpful advice in response to all of my piercing questions and concerns. I truly felt well taken care of and supported. I would 10/10 recommend Vicc for any piercing needs- I’ll definitely be back to see her again!

Fantastic experience: What a great team they are! I walked in there yesterday to ask about reopening 3 holes in my ears that I have been unable to open on my own. They told me they could, explained exactly what was involved and then offered to do it right then and there. I was a little nervous but they made me feel very comfortable. The two holes in my one ear were reopened within a minute or two. I didn’t feel a thing! I had no swelling and the redness was gone in a few hours. Because they were 2nd and 3rd holes I was a little worried about sleeping last night but I had no pain or discomfort at all. Because of that I went back there first thing this morning, once again without an appointment, to see if they could reopen the other hole in my other ear. Even though there were a few people there with appointments they accommodated me once again and I had the hole reopened in no time. I highly recommend Steel N Ink at Stone Road Mall for any piercing needs. You are the best!

Fantastic experience: Absolutely amazing experience! I took my VERY nervous 7 year old daughter in to get her one earring back in. She’d had a bad reaction to sterling silver earrings so we had taken them out. She kept putting off letting me put in hypoallergenic titanium ones, so she hadn’t had any earrings in for about two months. I was able to get one in but the hole had shrunk quite a bit. I wasn’t able to get the second one in, thought maybe it had closed on that side and didn’t want to force it. Cody was extremely patient with her, got the earring in and didn’t even charge us the piercing fee. If I ever want another piercing or someone asks for my recommendation, I’m suggesting/asking for Cody at Steel and Ink!

Negative experience: I would give less than a star if i could. I booked a tattoo appointment almost a month ago for feb 2nd, i was in contact with the shop over the course of the month. Today (feb 1st) at 5pm i get an email stating that the artist would not be available but i could use another one. I responded with that was fine to which i received another email stating the artist would be off all week and i would have to pick a different day. My schedule is not very flexible aka why i booked so far in advance. I will NEVER be back to this place as the customer service i have received has been less than professional and that they have absolutely no considerations for people’s schedules ahead of time! They would have been aware sometime before 5pm on sunday evening that this artist would not be available and should have contacted way before then. I am disappointed to have dealt with this company! Please be careful with this thoughtless company and how they treat you!

Fantastic experience: Vicc was kind and patient with my 8 year old as she got her ears pierced for the first time. The entire experience was phenomenal. Vicc was knowledgeable and took her time to ensure everything was done properly, and that we knew exactly how to care for her ears afterward. She also gave my daughter a sticker and a bravery certificate. It was such a cute and special experience for her. Plus she showed us a ton of kindness and empathy at checkout. I will definitely be back and recommend Steel n Ink to others as well.

Fantastic experience: Carl did a sweet moon tattoo on my forearm, I'm thrilled with the linework and it has healed beautifully! Fantastic experience: I've been here twice! Once for my own lip piercing and another time to sit in on my friends tongue piercing. Staff are lovely. They answer any questions you have without judgement. Highly recommend!!

Negative experience: My daughter got 2 tattoos on her hand December 1st, they are faded and the ring one was not straight, when I took her back to darken it not being the 3 months that she was given for touch up, they requested $100 more, she drove back 5 hours to get this fixed, and I was very shocked, I do not recommend this place at all.

Negative experience: Disappointed with my experience at Steel n Ink (Stone Road Mall). I was told I had 90 days for a touch-up, but when I returned within that time, the artist, Carol, refused to do it. His reasoning was that the tattoo was on my hand and “hand tattoos fade.” That was not why I came in. I came back because the line work was uneven and noticeably thinner on one side than the other; which is a quality issue, not normal fading. This concern was brushed off instead of addressed, and the overall attitude from staff felt passive aggressive and dismissive, rather than professional or customer-focused. Would not return or recommend based on this experience.

Negative experience: Called for appointment for 9 my year old daughter. Travelled 40 minutes. We were turned away when we arrived because I did not have a piece of ID for my daughter. I had copies of health card and passport on my phone. Still not good enough. It would have been good info when we booked!!! We were repeat customers with waiver already in the system. Note: we got her ear pierced at Alivia's next door and it was an awesome experience!

Fantastic experience: Went in to get my septum pierced today. I’m terrified of needles and this was my first piercing. The piercer was sooo nice and made this whole experience amazing!! Very quick, and now I have a dope piercing.

Negative experience: I came here to get 3 of my piercings changed to new jewelry since I have a septum a webbing and a smiley piercing, and it’s hard to change them myself. I got there about 10 minutes early yet I was finally taken to the room for my appointment about 10 minutes late. I payed 134 dollars for 3 pieces of jewelry (having the piercer put them in was free), and the process of having them put in was fast and comfortable, but when I left it took only 2 days for all of them to fall out. Either the jewelry is cheap or the piercer put them in incorrectly because less than 24 hours later one of the balls of my smiley piercing came out and dropped somewhere where I couldn’t find it. Then a bit later one of the balls for my webbing piercing came loose and almost fell out, but I managed to tighten it back on with pliers, and just now I realized that one of the balls from my septum piercing is missing. I spent 134 dollars on this jewelry and 2 of them are already unusable, the last one is hanging by a thread because it easily comes loose, I tried contacting them about these issues and got absolutely no response. Wasted so much money. UPDATE: it has been a year since this happened, I made the mistake of going back to this place and the same thing happened, I bought over a hundred dollar’s worth of jewelry to put in my mouth and had one of the employees put it in, and as soon as I got home they fell out. I called in to tell them what happened and the woman told me to email her manager about the problem and she would get right back to me. It’s been about a week since I sent the email and I haven’t gotten anything back, I doubt I’ll get any sort of refund. Do not go here.

Fantastic experience: I got my septum pierced here a while ago, and everyone was so nice and patient. My septum was ny first piercing so I was nervous and shaky but ny piercer helped calmed me, and at the end assured me that I did great when I kinda didnt LMAO. Staff here is really sweet! I called the shop, went in, and they helped reopen the piercing and even put in my own jewelry. The staff were so kind and understanding truly professional and gentle throughout. Honestly, from the outside, I might not have gone in, but this experience reminded me not to judge a book by its cover something I know well as a visible minority. I’m very pleased with the service and grateful for how they treated me with care and respect. Highly recommend!

Positive experience: piercing was okay. the woman didn’t really greet us or explain anything to do with the process. Environment wasn’t super friendly. aftercare was bearly talked about. the flat back percing they periced my nose with is extremely hard to get out. i had to go to a shop 2 separate times to finally get it out.

Fantastic experience: I've been to Steel n Ink Guelph twice and had wonderful experiences both times. My most recent was getting a memorial fine line tattoo of my dog from Catie. The experience was incredible. Catie was empathetic and wonderful to work with. She captured my boy beautifully. It's absolutely my favourite tattoo to date. I'd recommend anyone go here!

Negative experience: DO NOT GO HERE Absolutely horrible! I got my nose pierced there a few years ago and the jewlery fell out by the time I got home and I noticed it was missing I wasted a lot of money on that and than I got my navel pierced here 8 months ago as well and went back quite a few times to ask for their opinion if it’s ok or not and not one employee even batted an eye awful staff and someone finally!! noticed the jewlery was wrong for my belly button and could only do 15% for a new piercing which is crazy Because they are the ones who’s messed up and made my piercing very sore and painful red and puffy with green goo because they gave me the wrong Jewlery so it didn’t heal well so why should I have to pay more for them to fix their mistake and get me new jewlery?? I also viewed the reviews from this location and the Waterloo location and all have horrible customer reviews so I emailed an actual professional place and sent them pictures of my piercing and they said you might need new jewelry or might need to completely take it out or get it repriced in the right spot it’s hard to see from my pictures so I will be going to a professional in person thank you for nothing steel and ink absolute waste of money and very painful outcome do not recommend!!

Fantastic experience: I saw Cadence today for a double conch piercing and third hole on my lobes. She was so thorough and did an amazing job. With a double conch the spacing needs to be just right and she knew exactly what she was doing. They are literally perfect, I am obsessed, and I’ll definitely be going back for more once these are healed! Highly recommend Cadence for piercings!!

Negative experience: Overall, the staff are great. They’re all super friendly and we received great customer service. The receptionist especially (I don’t know her name) was understanding when I accidentally missed my appointment. The only issue I had was with my actual tattoo. My artist was spencer and I got a fine line script tattoo and one of the letters was messed up. It was a k and it just looked like a blob. The tattoo was also illegible because the letters were not the same size (lowercase l and k). I went to a different artist and they said it seemed like the artist had accidentally erased the stencil and freehanded the tattoo. It’s not a big deal because I was able to get the tattoo touched up and I understand that stuff happens. However I wanted to write a review just because tattoos are permanent.

Negative experience: Giving this place a one star rating after getting my tongue pierced here. This was my first time here and I can say I never want to go back. I had Vic as my piercer and overall they were a really nice person. The first part of the experience was fine but as soon as it was done I could already tell it was wrong. The first red flag was when they did not hand me a mirror, any other piercing place I have been too they hand me a mirror to see it right after they were done so I could see. I ignored it and then they doubled checked my mouth to see if the piercing was sitting in the right spot. They told me I was good and sent me on my way. On the way out of the mall, I went to the washroom to go see what it looked like. Instantly, I could see how crooked it was. It was pierced in the incorrect spot and was coming out in the webbing of the side of my tongue. (Dangerous spot to be pierced). I didn’t realize how bad it was until I got home later that night. I called the place and showed them pictures of the piercing and they told me to take it out. Looking back, Vic definitely would’ve seen how it was coming out of the incorrect spot of my tongue and decided to not tell me. Very unprofessional and negligent. I understand that people make mistakes and it would’ve been an accident, but I should’ve been told that there was a mistake. I ended up paying a different piercer to take out the piercing for me because I wasn’t able to do it myself. Now that it is out of my tongue, I have a scar on the bottom even after weeks of healing. Since I signed the waiver, I am not able to get a refund. I either have to get this piercing redone at this place or I have a $30 credit towards a different piercing. Which doesn’t even cover the full cost of a piercing. That means I would have to go through that whole experience of the piercing and the healing process all over again. And after this being my first experience here, I do not want to come back and try again with my tongue piercing. I am scared that they will mess up again, and it will end up in a more dangerous outcome. The manager that I’ve been calling is very nice. They have been trying to be helpful, but we haven’t gotten anywhere and still don’t have a full solution to this problem. It has been multiple weeks. I am now in the process of contacting head office. I am now out the money and have damage from the piercing being done incorrectly. Please read the waiver before you go to this place because with signing it, I now can’t do anything for the damage that was done. The tongue is a dangerous place to get pierced if done incorrectly, so please do not get your tongue pierced here and have to go through the same experience I did.

Negative experience: Super disappointed with my visit here. The vibes were good and the people were really nice, but there doesn’t seem to be a lot of experience when it comes to piercings. I got my navel done here and despite following all the protocol I was told to follow for healing, I almost instantly had problems with it. It seemed like the jewelry itself was too tight/small for the piercing and it wasn’t allowing the piercing to swell the way it needed it. Long story short, I went to the steel n ink in hamilton and had someone there look at it. They were very professional but noted that they would have probably pierced it shallower and not so deep considering the way my belly button is. 150$ wasted and now I have to let it heal and get it re-pierced in a few months and deal with scarring. As someone that knows nothing about piercings, I just wish the piercer had taken more time to look at my anatomy before piercing. They seemed like a lovely person, but I’d hope that steel n ink hires experienced workers to do these kinds of things and it doesn’t feel like they did in this case.

Negative experience: Gave my girlfriend a nose infection with the Titanium alloy nose rings which she is allergic to and were rough when putting in the nose ring, No respect given for the women!!! May be cheap but not worth the pain and carelessness of their employees

Fantastic experience: I went in on Monday and was assisted by two ladies who unfortunately weren’t helpful in guiding me on how to remove my nose piercing for a CT scan. One of them brought me into the piercing room but just stood there watching as I struggled to take it out, without offering any explanation—especially disappointing since I haven’t removed it in over two years and needed guidance. However, I returned today and was helped by a girl named Vik, who was incredibly helpful. She took the time to explain the process clearly, making it much easier for me to remove the piercing in preparation for my scan. I really appreciated her kindness and professionalism.

Negative experience: Giving one star because when I showed up to get my nose piercing the piercers sweater was COVERED in animal hair . Like bad ….. I got my nose pierced anyway . But couldn’t she have had another sweater or even bought one at the mall. It looks so unprofessional. Also shop is very empty when coming in doesn’t feel very welcoming /homey

Negative experience: Got a tattoo done here 3 years ago while in university. Was one of my first tattoos and didn’t realize all the things that were done wrong until years later after having numerous tattoos since. They didn’t shave the spot before doing the tattoo, and didn’t show me a clean needle to name 2. I am now looking into cover up options because the tattoo is blown out (ink is spreading out from initial lines and blurry) and has jagged lines as well. Posted this in hopes in can save someone else from the same fate of a distarous tattoo.

Negative experience: I got my nostril pierced here in the spring and it was such a negative experience. The piercer (not sure the name but was an older man) drew the dot ridiculously high up on my nose, and when I asked to adjust it lower he got super defensive and said "So you think you know better than the professional? It'll look stupid like that but it's your face so go ahead and mess it up". I was actually in shock and don't even know how I responded. Recently I went to a different tattoo shop to get it switched from a stud to a hoop and they were so surprised when I told them this story because the piercing is still quite high up even after being moved lower. I wish I had just left and gone somewhere else.

Fantastic experience: Got a beautiful hogwarts tattoo done by Becca and I couldn't recommend her enough. She is incredibly talented, knowledgeable, and patient. I had a consultation with her before getting the tattoo and she listened carefully to my requests and created exactly what I wanted. I'm blown away by the level of detail she was able to capture in this piece.

Fantastic experience: One of my favourite places to go in Guelph! The artist Becca has done a couple tattoos for me and I have nothing but good things to say about them! Process is very professional but still fun which is something I admire in a tattoo artist/shop. Fantastic experience: I went here to have a bunch of ear piercings changed. I had staff member Lilo who was so gentle and just overall fantastic. This was the most seamless jewelry changing I’ve ever had, I hardly felt a thing! Lilo was also so personable and welcoming which made the experience a lot more comfortable. Would highly recommend Lilo if you’re going to this shop :)

Negative experience: I am very unimpressed with this location. I took my friend to get her belly button pierced for her birthday, and the piercer made her feel very uncomfortable and upset on her special day. Basically, the piercer had insulted her body when describing the kind of piercings to look for when she changes it in the future. I understand sharing all the precautions and describing what is needed with the piercing, but the way she said it was completely uncalled for. Not to mention she treated her this was on her BIRTHDAY. She proceeded to say “the way your body is built and since your belly button is top shelf shaped” in a negative manner which made my friend feel very insecure. Again I understand explaining what needs to be but her choice of wording was very pour. Unfortunately, we will not be back as the service was far from acceptable.

Negative experience: Got my navel pierced here. First of all it wasn't priced right. I went to another jeweler bc I had troubles healing and he said based off the cheap jeweler in it and the placement he was surprised it wouldn't heal. Untrained piercers! Go to a proper shop if you are looking for quality work! Have the receipt to prove it was done at this shop.

Fantastic experience: i was here today to get some jewelry replaced/reshaped/put back in after some medical imaging and i was treated with great care and respect — cadence and jill were really wonderful to me. the studio i went to to have my piercings removed was pretty awful, and this was the exact opposite of that experience. can’t thank yall enough, rlly appreciate it ❤️

Fantastic experience: I went with some friends to get various piercings. We made appointments and Cadence, our piercer, was absolutely outstanding. She answered all of our questions, was super knowledgeable about after care, and was incredibly friendly too! They also managed to fit one of us in last-minute which was very appreciated. We got a helix, nose, eyebrow, and bellybutton piercing and she absolutely killed each and every one of them. 10/10 would reccomend! We will (hopefully) be returning for another piercing or two soon!

Fantastic experience: Had an unfortunate experience where a different shop used the wrong jewellery for my lobe piercings but the folks here were so patient and kind in helping me. Lilo was excellent and helped me change into the appropriate jewellery. Really happy and grateful for their help!

Fantastic experience: Catie is the loveliest human and so very very talented! She makes you so comfy and does everything with such delicate care! She rocked out 3 pieces for me in one sitting and I absolutely love each of them! I came from 2 hours away to have her tattoo me and it was absolutely worth it! Very intimate little shop, nice and clean and front of house staff was also very kind!

Negative experience: Went to get my navel done almost two weeks ago, I explicitly asked if I had the anatomy for it (because I understand its an anatomy-dependent piercing) the piercer said “yep” pierced me, and sent me on my way. Fast forward to today where it has become abundantly clear the piercing was done incorrectly and I was given a surface piercing (one that is almost destined to reject). Im heart broken and wish they had just told me I didnt have the anatomy and refunded me. I spent $110 on something I have to get removed asap. This place only cares about money and getting through the day. Go literally anywhere else, these people are no better than claires

Negative experience: Just so you know they delete any bad comments…..I left a comment on poor bedside manner of the piercer She didn’t give me alternatives. (Even though I asked for alternatives on my ear as she rudely told me “you don’t have the anatomy for an industrial” ( as I’d had one from age 12-31) She just wanted to get it over and get me out of her sight. It was the rudest interaction with a piercer I’ve ever had. This is why I used to pierce myself or our friends used to pierce ourselves because we didn’t treat each other like I’m gonna get $100 out of you you and and not even know your name. Nothing just absolutely nothing and she did I’ve had my nose pierced so many times the way she pierced my nose, she started with the catcher and then started with the needle and once the needle went in that’s when you go and follow with the jewellery and she unsafe left a sharp on my chest because she didn’t catch it in time while she was putting the jewellery in. My feedback is stop being so rude—- make your costumers feel special before people just start buying needles and doing it themselves because your attitude sucks bro.

Fantastic experience: Had a great experience here, Got my ears done with Lilo, she was kind, professional and friendly. Walked me through every step of keeping the piercings clean, and warned me about the right vs. wrong saline to use. Her workspace was clean and well kept, I'm looking forward to going back and getting more piercings there.

Fantastic experience: Staff is very friendly. They were really kind and didn't mind answering my multitude of questions. I am over the moon at the quality of work. Negative experience: I won’t be returning for any tattoos or services at steel and ink, doubtful even for touch ups despite needing them, due to the complete lack of professionalism I experienced for my tattoo appointment and poor tattoo quality as a result. The appointment was booked for 11 AM. I arrived promptly at 10:50 to make sure I was not late. The artist, Becca, seemed to arrive late about five minutes after 11 as this was the first I saw of them. They then asked the front desk if someone else had used their station throughout the weekend as it was not set up the way that they liked it or remembered. They told me it would be about 10 to 15 minutes so I decided to wait. After 45 mins of waiting for them to take trash out and set up I was finally putting stencils on. The artist completed the first of two pieces on my chest. I am happy with the work done for this tattoo. But then the other staff member who was working at the front came back to let them know that their next appointment was there and ask how long they would be. The artist responded about 15 minutes. The person from the front offered to print out stencils and went off to do this as per the artist request. The staff member from the front then proceeded to come back and hold the stencils / papers over me, while being tattooed to ask the artist if this was ok sizing and show them/talk about the stencil. WHILE IM BEING TATTOOED. I chose to say nothing at the time as I was super uncomfortable, but found this extremely unprofessional on both parties parts and began to get stressed about the quality of my tattoo. Now having seen it completed rightfully so. About five minutes passed and the staff member from the front returned. They let the artist know that the group waiting was three sisters and one of them had to be somewhere on time again asking how long it would be. at this point, the artist was done the left leg and had just started on my right leg. They told the other staff member they would be about five minutes. Before starting the right leg, I pointed out to the artist that the stencil had been a bit smudged, and so it looked larger than it previously was, they assured me this was not a problem. At this point, the artist sped up their tattooing of the last 3 letters. The whole time all I could think was well hopefully they know what they’re doing. I have to just trust the artist right. Wrong. I have had two different people ask me why the letters, particularly the F, on my right leg are larger than that on the left. It is noticeably different in size and a lot of the letters do not even have straight outlines and proper shading (harder to see in the photo attached but very obvious in person). The e on the left leg is not the same as the one on the right either. I noticed it myself after taking the second skin off but was trying to ignore it but having another person comment on your tattoo you just paid $300 for and ask if it’s messed up or meant to be like that it the worst feeling in the world. Quite frankly, I don’t know why I tipped I wish I hadn’t, I almost wish I could get some of my money back considering the result and how unprofessional this was. Had the artist been there on time and set up ready to go at 11 this could have been avoided. Regardless it was beyond inappropriate for the other staff member to rush them and then to interrupt my appointment to hold stencils OVER me and discuss the next appointment. The artist shouldn’t have rushed when pressured by other staff. Tattoo appointments are a service and an experience, I did not just pay for the tattoo I paid for that time, space and experience. Overall super disappointed by the experience and now I permanently have a tattoo that is not the same size on both sides. 0/10.

Positive experience: Feels like a money grab more than a professional experience. Came in because a piercing fell out overnight and needed help getting a new piece of jewelry put in before it closed, expressing I was willing to downsize if I had to. They were able to help me on the spot which was amazing as I finish work at 5 and could not make it to my regular place. Very pretty (but very expensive) jewelry. Once I had picked a piece, the piercer proceeded to shove the jewelry in the hole, which had since shrunken, with zero lubrication and tons of force. I was not asked if it felt ok as they proceeded to try several times before it finally squeezed through. They did not show or tell me of the backing size they used before shoving it in. After we had finished, I told of the length of bar they used and that I could come back to size down if required. I am unsure of if/how I’ll be able to swap out the backing if I cannot prove I got it there, as I did not receive a receipt or sign any paperwork. It was painful and has been tender and swollen for days following, nor was I offered any saline for afterwards or instructed of any aftercare/guided on how to deal with this situation. If you’re in a pickle, sure, use their service like I had to, it will get you by. But it’s safe to say I will continue to go to my regular piercer and not return for their services. Edit: I have had this piercing for over 3 years

Negative experience: 3 of us got tattoos done by Niq. Niq has such a heavy hand while tattooing it caused blowouts, so much so there is still blue ink under two of our skins a year later. Pretty sure Niq went WAY too deep. Once the second skin cover up was placed on, tattoo ink immediately started filling up in the plastic wrapping. It was “weeping” and pretty upsetting to deal with.
