Fantastic experience: Clean studio and very friendly staff. George took time to discuss placement since I wasn’t 100% sure and even talked about future helix options. My daughter and I both got conch piercings, and I felt very comfortable having us pierced by her. She also responded quickly to an aftercare question. We will definitely go back

Positive experience: George was great, everything you want and more from a piercer. The operation sucks. Made a appointment, no heads up prior to arrival that there a 30 minute delay. Not sure why, because on arrival the clerk was on her phone. Instead a welcome or hello we got get over here. Compared themselves with Dr.'s as if the disrespect one receives from medical professionals is something to work towards. The operation DID give $10 discount which likely be taken from the contractor which has no say on the booking or in this case over booking. "It's really busy on the weekend" - translation I don't know or care about the contractor that pays me to support her work. When I gave George a tip, the operation gave it back! Granted it could be a just a "today" thing. Or my schedule didn't allow the additional 30 minutes (which it didn't). Because it's the weekend, I only time I have to get luxury items/services done. The business is built on people returning and we won't be going back and referrals will come with a disclaimer.

Fantastic experience: I’ve gotten several piercings from George, and every experience has been great. She’s skilled, patient, and pays close attention to detail. One of my piercings even fell out once, and she helped me fix it quickly and professionally. I always feel comfortable coming here because I know I’m in good hands. Highly recommend her

Fantastic experience: George at Strange World is a total rockstar and can't recommend her enough. She was able to correct an ear piercing at another business (Tribal per below) and took the time listening to me, my deeply justified frustration and poor experience at another business, answered all my questions, and made me with comfortable. We had shared ongoing laughs and it was a top-notch professional experience. George ensured my new piercing went off without a hitch and I remarked that I should have seen her in the first place; the consultation and piercing was done as a walk-in without an appointment between customers with me speaking to lovely Brooke at the front counter. George (and the team) are highly personable, professional, and capable and would only use her for (any prospective future) piercings given she ensured proper placement and was entirely pain-free. Prices are fair and include beautiful jewelry with after care and support provided. Thank you so incredibly much, George! FYI, please avoid Tribal Expressions/Opulence at all costs. Keith, the owner, significantly overcharged for their service and jewelry. Not only was the service and jewelry overpriced, but the jewelry was also unnecessary, unwearable, and caused ear problems. I was charged double the quoted price (with jewelry included), despite confirming in advance via phone that there would be no additional fees before booking the appointment. I was shocked when I was billed over $200 at the time of piercing and immediately contested the charge. The experience was time-consuming, as Keith frequently bounced between customers and those counter surfing. Even with my appointment, I was there for an hour after arriving ten minutes early. The final outcome was completely misaligned and lopsided piercings, resulting in extra, unnecessary holes in my ears that are permanent. I have photos to support this, and anyone who sees my ears, including George, can attest to the appalling result.

Fantastic experience: I don’t remember who pierced my ear, but she was amazing and so nice about explaining everything I needed to know and answered all my questions about the aftercare. I was pretty scared to get my double helix done because i’ve heard the pain is really bad but this just felt like a small pinch. The price was also one of the best i’ve seen in calgary and honestly because of the service I wouldn’t have minded paying way more.

Fantastic experience: Our daughter got her ears pierced as a Christmas present. George was very good about explaining her tools and the process to my daughter which definitely helped put her at ease. Everything was very hygienic and super chill. Highly recommend George and Strange World!

Fantastic experience: Another great review for George! My friends and I came in today for piercings together. First of all, the front desk staff were super sweet and inviting. Booking the appointment was hassle free. Once we got in, George helped to calm our nerves and we all had a great chat. She explained everything thoroughly and had a great selection of jewelry for the base price. I got my navel and my friends got various ear piercings, and George was beyond patient as we took our time to confirm we liked the placement. She was also happy to change my old earrings that were not healing properly from a different studio, and only charged me the jewelry price. We ended up paying way less than expected because they had deals we didn’t even know about until the total came up. They also gave us cute free stickers, offered juice or a sweet, and the aftercare products were affordable. We all left super happy, and will be back for future piercings!

Fantastic experience: I love this shop. Great people, great artists. I got my thigh and hip done by Paulo. He did a traditional Japanese dragon and peonies and what a beautiful job he did. Fantastic experience: We called for a walk in appointment and we were paired with Abi. She's was LOVELY, very professional, gave a lot of good insight about placement, style etc. She was very patient with me, moving the stencil about 7 times before I was happy with the placement. The finished tattoo looks amazing, exactly like I was hoping, so if you're looking for script work, Abi has very clean line work. The entire staff, store and overal experience was amazing. And if you're a star wars fan you'll love the decor!

Fantastic experience: This shop is fantastic! I’ve been getting tattooed for over 20 years (at different shops) and this by far has been my best experience yet. The shop is professional, organized and each interaction I had leading up to my appt was excellent. The artist (Kristen) is very talented and experienced and also a pleasure to chat with during my 3 hr session. She was able to accommodate exactly what I was looking for. Highly recommend. Super friendly and overall great experiences from the first phone call of setting up my appointment, getting me in quickly (and on my birthday, amazing!) to getting my tattoos! Valeriia worked on my moon cover up and two small tattoos, her work is PERFECT! George the piercer is absolutely amazing she is so sweet and makes it such a comfortable experience, I’ve also had two situations where I needed to come back for help with the piercings (all my own doing) and she helped me every single time and just laughed when I had no clue how I did it. Fantastic experience: I have pierced my belly button with George in this shop in October 2024. She is always very nice and careful with my piercing. And after piercing, whenever I had a question I sent her a photo of my belly and she answered back quickly and the services after piercing were great and free. (2 times, once in December 2024 and second in April 2025) I recommend this place to everybody.

Negative experience: ** January 2017 UPDATE ** I spoke with the owner who has helped resolve the situation. 3 photos attached show what I asked for, what I got done by Chris, and what I had done to cover up the work. Initial review: I visited Strange World Tattoo based on a friend’s recommendation and the great reviews. George at the front was fantastic and easy to talk to. She paired me with Chris Ivens, who had just returned to the shop after being away. During my quick consultation, Chris convinced me to change the placement of my tattoo from where I initially wanted it. A week and a half before my appointment, I called George and asked if I could preview the tattoo outline. Chris drew it up and I loved it—except it was missing a crucial part of the design, which he promised to add on the day of my appointment. Though it made me uneasy, I agreed. When I arrived for my appointment, Chris showed me the missing piece, but with the addition, it didn’t look anything like what I had envisioned. I was paired with him for his realism talent, but the added piece wasn’t realistic at all. He told me that what I wanted wasn’t possible and wouldn’t look good, suggesting we skip it. However, skipping it would have defeated the meaning behind the tattoo, which I was getting for my sister. He told me, “No offense, but my job isn’t to worry about the meaning behind the tattoo, just that it looks good.” Since we didn’t have time to re-draw it and the paperwork I signed stated that cancelled appointments would forfeit their deposit, I reluctantly accepted the addition I didn’t like, and we began the tattoo. For future reference, don’t settle when something permanent is going on your body. The tattoo took about 3 hours, although we had scheduled 4. Chris took a lunch break upon arrival and had 3 smoke breaks, though I’m not a smoker. I was still billed for 3.5 hours. Once the tattoo healed, I noticed some issues—there were areas where the shading bled outside the lines. It’s not too noticeable unless you’re really looking, but there’s also a strange area where the color doesn’t match the rest of the tattoo. It looks like a brownish blob, both inside and outside the designated area. I went back for touch-ups, but Chris said it looked fine as is. I’ll now have to find another shop to fix the spots I’m unhappy with.

Fantastic experience: Recently had my ears pierced here by George and I cannot recommend her enough! She was so sweet and awesome. My piercings turned out perfect and beautiful. I’ve previously had tattoos done here as well. My artist is no longer there, but my tattoo experiences were also top notch. The staff is super friendly and the studio is so clean and very relaxing.

Fantastic experience: Stepping into Strange World Tattoo I noticed the atmosphere in the large open room was calm, quiet and appeared very professional. I was greeted promptly and pleasantly at the desk and referred to George. George "the piercer" listened well to the issue regarding my newly pierced ears (done by a friend of mine), and immediately helped me out. She provided care instructions and fitted me with much more appropriate earrings. Her price was very reasonable. Two days later my piercings are so much better. I will definitely go back to George should I need more holes in my head!

Fantastic experience: Big huge 5* review for George and the team at strange world. To start off the booking process was easy, and communication was great. I booked my older daughter with George to have her ears pierced. About 3 days later my younger daughter changed her mind, and water to get her ears done as well. I sent a message through their website, asking if there was time to do both girls, if not to book another appointment another day for my younger daughter. Brook got back to me right away, fit in the second appointment, went through info and tips for a smooth appointment. We also discussed the girls wanting pierced ears themselves, and they would only go through with it if the kids were on board with it through the whole process. Which I absolutely love and agree with! When we arrived, staff at the front were polite, helpful with waivers. George was ready on time, friendly and engaging with both kids. She was kind and patient, spoke directly with the girls, explained how everything would go, very much age appropriate. (6y and 8y old) and was patient and answered questions from the girls. Also discussed aftercare with me, but more importantly with the girls, and confirmed they understood. Now the actual piercing, George is good at her job and knows what she is doing! She was fast, gentle, and great at talking the girls through the process. When my youngest cried after the first ear, she was patient, gave her time to settle down, made she she wanted to do the next one, and had my 6 year old laughing before going a head with the 2nd ear!! Huge rave for great service! Both girls left the shop smiling and proud of themselves. Thank you George!!

George is amazing and was careful to ensure the piercing was accurate this time around. Fantastic experience: Such a great experience! My husband suggested the shop and Brett specifically because I wanted a Star Wars tattoo! My husband got one years ago by him. I booked the appointment and gave the deposit and was so excited! Then I found out I was pregnant! the shop was so very accommodating and told me to call back after baby. It's obvious George is super experienced at ear piercing children. We had an appointment but had to still wait for 25 mins before seeing Geroge and thus 4 stars.

Fantastic experience: I was able to do a walk-in to see George to help me remove my nose stud which had been bent out of shape and was basically stuck inside causing a lot of discomfort. She was able to remove it free of charge which I am so thankful for! She also did my belly button piercing a few years back and it’s held up so well all these years! If I decide to re-pierce my nose I will definitely be booking with her, I highly recommend :)

Fantastic experience: We booked our 5 year old for ear piercing. The experience was fantastic, and the staff member clearly knew how to handle little ones. My little one barely cried and was super happy with the experience. The staff member also took time to let her choose the earrings - she chose rainbow, of course! Fantastic experience: We took our 9 year old to get her ears pierced on her birthday, and George was fantastic! She explained the entire process step by step and was funny, kind, and welcoming. My daughter felt comfortable and at ease and she is so excited about her ear piercings! I would recommend this shop to any and everyone!

Fantastic experience: I had a great experience booking and visiting Strange World for a small memorial tattoo. Valeriia did beautiful work and it's healing up nicely. I went in with a fairly rigid idea and imagery, and while she recreated it in her style, she stayed true to the original, which I appreciated. I got an appointment fairly quick with the artist I requested. There was a steady flow of customers that day, but everything was clean and comfortable, the shop seemed well organized,

Fantastic experience: I went with a friend to get some piercings. She got a helix, and I got a daith. George was amazing. She kept us preoccupied while piercing and made it a great experience. Fantastic experience: Strange World is my go to place for piercings!! I got my belly button piercing, conch piercing and jewelry switched my nostril piercing here! George is the coolest and sweetest person ever! They make the piercing process fun and less terrifying, it goes by super fast I don’t even get to process the pain! The rest of the staff are very friendly and helpful regarding healing information sheets and providing saline solution as well!

Fantastic experience: George always is so accommodating and is happy to either do a quick jewelry switch with me or add to my piercing collection. I love how George asks you how you are personally and does as much as they can to make you feel at ease and comfortable. They always ensure that your ear anatomy is suitable for whichever piercing you want & OF COURSE they’re great with providing the proper aftercare instructions on how to take care of your newest piercing. I will forever only go to Strange World!!!!

Fantastic experience: I got a small cover up tattoo done by Brett and it turned out super good. The colours were very well done. While I was on a waiting list they kept me updated if there was any spot available and even got me an appointment before school started up again. Very thoughtful and amazing people.

Fantastic experience: I had earlobe piercings done by George. I came here based on a friend's recommendation. My friend has done piercings at different places and recommended George over the others. Geroge is awesome. I was quite nervous, but she was very patient with me and didn't rush or force me to make any decisions. She explained things very well and talked to me to distract me during the piercing. The process was quick, she clearly knows what she is doing. Price is very reasonable. Highly recommend!

Fantastic experience: The team at Strange World was great! They were super friendly and able to assist in making my custom design a reality. The shop is super clean and tidy and the space is very comfortable. Talented artists and no shortage of experience here. My only disappointment was the sketch was made available to me just 2 days before the appointment. I understand, as I’m sure people can waste time with indecisiveness, but it would have been nice to have a bit more time with the design to allow the artist a window to re-work if needed. At the end of the day I received what I was looking for and it looks awesome. Much gratitude and high praise for the team here at Strange World!

Fantastic experience: This place is just awesome. Staff are so eager to help, so friendly and welcoming. The place is super nice and clean!!! Their piercer George is just the greatest, my daughter has had two piercings done by her and doesn't ever want to get pierced by anyone else! She makes it such a calm and cool experience! 10/10 would recommend!

Fantastic experience: Got my earlobes pierced by George and she was so knowledgable and helpful regarding my concerns. The whole thing was done in less than 5 mins and they even offer saline solution for $3 which was great. I got an infection on one of my piercings some weeks later and she was able to help me out with that right away. I've had complications with piercing my lobes at least 3 times in the past with something always going wrong and then it gets too painful to continue wearing any but this is the first time I've had no problems after it's healed. Highly recommend!

Fantastic experience: I went a couple years back to get a helix piercing. Staff was all very friendly and they gave us good tips on taking care of the piercing and all that good stuff. The piercing looks great and it's healed really nicely! I'm gonna be going back there soon for more!

Fantastic experience: I went for piercing (helix and upper lobe) which was done by George who is amazing. she is awesome and you should go if you want to get a piercing done. Artwork in the shop is genius. I'm considering a tattoo update next and will definitely be getting it here

Fantastic experience: I've had my share of good experiences at Strange World, but none compare to the experience of my 5yo daughter having her ears pierced today. George was so friendly and calming, and she had this incredible way of walking my daughter through the process and making sure she understood everything that was happening. Fantastic experience: I was pretty nervous about getting my nose pierced. George was fabulous, it wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be and I’m so glad I did it . So far I’ve had no swelling and no issues. I went with a titanium hoop and I haven’t snagged it on anything. Yay me lol. George is the only one I would trust to do any other piercings.
