Fantastic experience: I had 3 forward helix piercings done on my right ear!!! Rafael did an amazing job and I could not be happier!!! They were also able to see me same day without an appointment!!! The whole shop was set up nicely!!! All the rooms are private and have doors!!! All the staff are professional, kind and caring!!! The piecer Rafael did an amazing job, he was fast and explained everthing. I would highly recommend this shop for all your piercing and tattoo needs!!! Thank you Royal tattoo and Rafael for the amazing 3 new piercings!!! I will be back soon for next tattoo!!! Update!!! Went back today to get 2 tattoos done by Jesse!!! She is wonderful to work with. She did an amazing job!!! I am so freaking happy with my new tattoos!!! They turned out better than I could have every imagined!!! Jesse is a very talented artist!!! Fantastic experience: Went for some new piercings, the place is super clean and the girls at the front were nice and polite. The piercer was an absolute sweetheart, he's patient and knows what he's doing. Recommended changing the piercing location to avoid rejection and I really appreciate that he didn't just do it how I wanted it since it would've been a waste. Prices are the best I've seen so far in the city and the jewelry is included another bonus! This will definitely be my go to!

Fantastic experience: I made a short review the other day but wanted to come back and make another one. Dave has done basically my entire left arm, and every single piece feels intentional, clean, and perfectly thought out. What really stood out to me was how collaborative the process was. There’s sometimes a small language barrier, but instead of that being an issue, it actually made the experience even better he always took the time to make sure we both 100% understood the design and placement before starting. I never felt rushed or confused. My arm feels cohesive, not like a collection of random tattoos and the fine line work is sharp and consistent throughout. You can tell he cares about the quality of what he produces. He’s also just a genuinely kind and professional person and fair with pricing, respectful with budgets, and clearly passionate about what he does I even saw other artists in the studio complimenting his work mid session. If you’re looking for an artist you can trust with meaningful pieces, Dave is the one. While I’m in Calgary I’ll always be recommending him to anyone asking about tattoos.

Negative experience: The nostril piercing I got here is quite uneven from the one I already had on the other side, very noticeable after the swelling went away. I’m not the expert so I trusted the piercer’s placement. The shop is saying I have to pay the full amount all over again to get it fixed (I would think that a shop would want to work towards a solution to ensure the client is happy but I guess not here) I’m not impressed and I do not recommend this place for piercings.

Fantastic experience: Went to Royal Tattoo in Calgary for my first tattoo and my experience was top notch! They were super responsive - from my first contact submission to artist renderings of my horrible non-artist sketch to booking the appointment happened within 48 hours. Shop was very clean and inviting, very sanitary but still felt comfortable. Appreciate the TV in the room. My tattoo artist was Alina and she was incredible. Patient, talented and kind. My tattoo was a memorial piece of my grandfather who passed away recently and the outcome of my vision surpassed my expectations. It’s the most beautiful tattoo and I will be back for another!

Negative experience: I got a navel peircing here-first of all they did NOT tell me anything about aftercare at all!! PLUS my peircing is not straight, and now I have a peircing I hate. I regret getting my peircing there.

He noticed that another tattoo needed a quick touch up and asked If I wanted that done as we had some time left in our appointment. He was pleasant and easy to work with, very efficient and clean. Fantastic experience: I have been working with Mariia (@maniticoon_art) to plan my tattoo for a few weeks. I was finally in the shop today for it and it was a phenomenal experience. The shop is so clean and quiet and professional, with tons of space in the rooms. Everything from booking to checking in is such a great experience - everyone who works the front desk is lovely. Now, onto Mariia. She is the loveliest artist I have ever worked with and her work is beyond amazing. How is she not booked months in advance?? Calgary, please show this incredible artist some love!!! This was a memorial piece for me to capture some major losses in my life and she took the inspiration I had for it and elevated it beyond anything I could have asked for. She is so humble and gracious. She will have all of my tattoo business going forward and I suggest you give her yours as well!! Thank you Mariia and thank you Royal for a great experience !

Fantastic experience: I called that day and was able to get an appointment. The staff were all extremely polite, prepared and professional. I took my 13yr old for lobe piercings - she cannot take the gun as they always end up severely infected. The shop was clean and well maintained throughout. Our piercer was very considerate making sure my daughter was comfortable, informed on what to expect and was happy with the placement of her earrings. The whole appointment took under 30min and overall was a very positive experience. Lastly, pricing is quite competitive on par with the mall piercings or even cheaper. My daughter had her piercings done last week and they are healing quite well.

Fantastic experience: It was my very first tattoo, and I was nervous. But Dave helped to design something I was really happy with, made sure it was exactly what I wanted, in the place I wanted, checking in with me the whole way. He made me feel instantly comfortable and was extremely professional. He was easy to talk to, took great pride in his work, and made my first experience and incredible one. He was very gentle, explained everything, and even brought out chocolates! His work area was impeccable- clean, organized, and everything done with care. After talking about my son who had passed, and everything we had been through, he really was the most compassionate person I think I had ever met. At the end of it, both of us were in tears discussing life, but with such big smiles. He thanked me for letting him be a part of this experience in something that was so meaningful in my life. Highly recommend him — a great human being and wonderful artist!

Negative experience: This used to be my favourite place to get tattoos. I went in with many prints of my cats paw because i really wanted it to be perfect, i’ve wanted this tattoo for years. Stephanie then botched my tattoo completely and made one of the paw prints look NOTHING like the stencil or print i gave her (or like a cats paw print at all) i left the shop in tears because of what she did. Don’t go to Stephanie unless you want your tattoo to look nothing like how you want it.

You can tell right away that they take both the art and the customer experience seriously. I worked with Kat, and I honestly cannot say enough good things. She is not just a tattoo artist, she is a true designer with an eye for detail, balance, and meaning. I came in with an idea that was very personal to me, and Kat took the time to really listen and understand the story behind it. She managed to translate that into a design that exceeded my expectations while still keeping the intentional details I asked for. Her line work is precise, her shading is beautifully smooth, and she has a natural talent for blending creativity with technical skill. What stood out the most was her patience and care. She checked in throughout the session, made sure I was comfortable, and created an atmosphere that felt relaxed but focused. If you are looking for an artist who treats your tattoo as more than just ink on skin, Kat is the one. I am proud to wear her work and already thinking about my next piece. Royal Tattoo YYC is without question one of the best shops in Calgary, and Kat is a standout artist who I would recommend to anyone, whether it is your first tattoo or your tenth.

Very comfortable and clean room, can watch or listen to anything you want on TV. The parking situation isn't immediately obvious, but they have a lot just across the street from the front door. 10/10 would come here again
