Experiencia fantástica: I don't typically leave reviews, but this shop deserves all the credit. I've been to Eric Rodriguez seven times in less than a year and he never fails to exceed my expectations. Eric is professional, has great communication and also really takes his time to ensure you leave with something you'll love. You can tell he is passionate about his work and it really translates into the tattoo. The front desk workers are also always friendly and welcoming. I run into Kimberly a lot and she really goes out of her way to make sure you are checked in and out in a timely manner + offers drinks etc. Ive had the pleasure of talking to the owner, Dave, a few times as well and he is so nice. I catch him doing handyman work and it really shows with how well kept the shop is. Feels like you are walking into an art gallery/greenhouse. 10/10 experience with everyone there and looking forward to coming back!

Experiencia fantástica: I recently got my second ear piercings on both ears and a left eyebrow piercing done by Ryan, and I had a great experience. Ryan was very knowledgeable, professional, and made me feel comfortable the entire time. He clearly explained the do’s and don’ts for aftercare and answered all of my questions without rushing. The shop itself was amazing, very clean, well organized, and had some really cool artifacts and decor that made the atmosphere unique and welcoming. Overall, I highly recommend this place and especially Ryan if you’re looking to get pierced. I’ll definitely be coming back in the future.

Experiencia fantástica: Got here early for a walk in. Theyre very busy and for a good reason. The shop is very different than any other ive been in. The atmosphere and vibe is welcoming and warm. The decoration is really cool and our artist Linsey did an amazing job. She was fast, thorough, and asked questions i didn't even think to think of to ensure my placement worked and would last.

What made me choose the collective was their outstanding customer service by ways of lovely receptionists who are always personable and happy to help. It sets the tone for your service wonderfully. The artists there are passionate about the art they produce. They are extremely attentive, patient, and truly care about the person they are working with for each and every service. Their cleanliness is elite and was a major factor in choosing them. I’ve had tattoos done by Tim and Scott. I was also pierced by Ryan. The collective is like my spa day from the moment I walk in until the moment I walk out. Love you guys !

Experiencia fantástica: I love this place!! I called to see if I could walk in to get a piercing done same day. I was advised that making an appointment for a piercing was advised but they did have openings for that day. I looked into the reviews and website and after looking into many other places I decided on the collective, and I’m so glad I did. I booked an appointment online and upon arrival I immediately felt welcomed. Everyone there was so nice and welcoming, the prices were reasonable, they have a great selection of jewelry, and the shop was so cool! I had Ryan as my piercer and he was honestly so cool and chill. We had a conversation about rights and wrongs when it comes to piercings and he instantly took my nerves away! HIGHLY recommend!! I will be coming back for more piercing! (Got my rook done)

Experiencia negativa: pierced my cartilage when doing my septum... need i say more, hurt like hell to get done and has had trouble healing, i can't get a refund without scheduling an appointment and driving an hour to the location. Also said they buy their saline spray for 20 dollars and sell them at a loss, but you can buy it online for like 14 bucks ? it wasn't even neilmed or anything, I would suggest going to a different location to get your piercings, staff was very nice though update: had to remove, it was pierced in the middle of my nose, seems like a terrible place to get pierced covered up by a well decorated location, and no refund unless I schedule an appointment, scummy location

Experiencia negativa: Had a great experience here with Lindsey for my first tattoo. Came back for a simple ankle piece and was told it was too small for an appointment and I’d need to come as a walk in. When I came for a walk in I was told 15-20 min wait. Almost an hour later a different artist finally came to talk to me with nothing but negativity, arguing with me over what was practically a flash tattoo shooting down every idea or request I had for it. Guess I’ll find another shop with more competent and open minded artists.

The flower photo is Kari’s work and the finger tattoos (aside from the big one on the ring finger) were done by Morgan. Amazing work. I’ll definitely be going back to this shop and these artists for my future tattoo plans. You will not leave disappointed! The artists personalities are so fun, too. We were laughing a lot! Experiencia fantástica: Decided to come here to get re-pierced after seeing tons of recommendations for Ryan. He was fantastic and very efficient. I was in the piercing room for maybe 5 minutes, if that. He was thorough and made sure to double check placement since the previous piercing I had gotten at a different shop was not quite placed correctly. The overall atmosphere of the shop was great and really well curated. Everyone I came to contact with was friendly and welcoming. Services were priced reasonably as well. It was very easy to book an appointment on their website as well. Would absolutely recommend to anyone looking to get a piercing.

Experiencia positiva: The Asian woman that did me and my fiancé’s tattoo’s didn’t do entirely bad however on mine she was very heavy handed and pretty inconsistent throughout. The overall design was met but there were some gaps and incomplete lines. She kinda rushed through the tattoo which is why it ended the way it did. I had a family known artist touch it up after a few weeks and the difference in definition is obvious. The first picture is after she did it and the second is right after I got it touched up and you can see the difference for yourself. Overall it’s not the worst as I’ve seen and have better but she could have done a better job.

Kimmy at the front desk was incredibly sweet and explained the jewelry/metals and helped me pick a color. Ryan did the piercing and it was a breeze. Super professional and laid back, put me right at ease. Had the cleaning and hygiene supplies available for purchase at the front desk. Will absolutely come back for my next piercing.

Experiencia positiva: we wanted to go check out some earrings they had so i could come back tomorrow and get my ears pierced but we found that 1. they only take appointments and 2. if your under 18 you need your birth certificate. as someone who came to Virginia Beach on vacation, i didn’t have it on me and we had to go somewhere else

Experiencia fantástica: TLDR: This place is fantastic, book the appointment. The artist: I have worked with Morgon twice now over the past year and they are amazing. Patient, precise, collaborative and comfortable - all my designs and quirks were embraced and enhanced by their own artistic flair. I have gotten 12? tattoos from them now - talk about putting your trust in someone! I will go back again and again. The shop: The Collective is clean and professional, but warm and welcoming. Friendly staff that are clearly happy to be there and tattooers that are excited for the day ahead of them. I've been in shops where the artists come in glum and serious and make someone feel small for wanting a dainty tattoo. The owner of the shop personally visited our booth several times to check in and tell stories, complimenting his artists work and my design choices. The other artists commonly pop their heads into each others stations to see the others work and ask questions or compliment techniques. Talk about a "collective" mindset. This has been the best experience, top to bottom, for any kind of shop I've ever stepped foot it. I highly recommend it.

My piercer, Kristy, made me feel very comfortable and it was a quick and easy experience. Definitely will come back. My appointment was at 12:45 and she took me in early and I was out by 12:50.

If you're in Virginia Beach and you want to enshrine a memory or moment, this is the place to go. They do walk ins, but I would recommend getting in early if that what's you're going for. The staff is so friendly. They matched us up with the best available artist pending on our tattoo ideas. Scott Kingan did my piece and I love it. I will hopefully be back to get more of his work tattooed on me on future vacations.

Fast forward a few months I end up booking my first appointment with Eric to start work on my sleeve. Now I have 2 pieces done and ready to start another in September. I have gotten many compliments on my work so far from my friends, family,residents staff, and even other artists I know from other shops. We spent 7 hours in there on a Friday, because when we called well ahead to make appointments, twice, we were told just walk in. Well we did and waited and waited and waited. When we asked about the wait, we were kindly asked did we want to take our names off the wait list. A business model that could use some improvement if you are advertising taking walk ins.

Experiencia fantástica: I went in for a quick jewelry change service and had a great experience. I’d recommend making an appointment if you’re going in on a week day. Saturday is a better day for walk in services. It took less than 15 minutes to get my jewelry changed. They wore gloves and masks while performing my service and cleaned all tools with me in the room. 10/10 experience and the decor is AMAZING.

Experiencia fantástica: My mom and I wanted to get tattoos together and did a walk-in on a Sunday in March 2025. We both had Michael as our artist and he did an amazing job of sticking to the original design I sketched, but making the lines cleaner and proportions of the paper airplanes much more accurate. He was so friendly and gentle! The tattoos healed perfectly and we couldn't be happier! I plan on requesting him for my next piece(s)! The shop itself is very clean, beautifully decorated, and just a very cool place to hang out while you wait your turn! The front desk staff is so kind, patient, and fun to talk with! Kelso in particular always has the biggest, most beautiful smile! And Madelynn was kind and patient while helping me answer some questions over the phone! The owner, Dave, is such a warm, welcoming soul. He takes his business seriously and is very knowledgeable about tattoos, but he is still really friendly and kind. He loves listening to his clients and offers really insightful suggestions about placement, designs, and care! Hands down, this is the best place to get tattooed! They are kind, supportive, and have a wide variety of talented artists. The pricing is a little high, but extremely fair for the excellent care and attention to detail! You won't be disappointed!

Experiencia positiva: First of off I want to say I have always liked this shop! It’s clean and open with a great vibe, but my last experience was not so great. I came in on 12-Apr to have my nose pierced. I had it pierced before (years ago) with a now visible scar and the piercer asked if I wanted it in the same place. I agreed. *NOTE I did not wear glasses when I had it pierced years ago, but now I do. I had my glasses on during the appointment. The next day I realized my glasses pushed on the piercing constantly and when my glasses snagged the piercing it almost ripped it straight out. I knew I couldn’t go thru an entire 3 month healing process like that. That day I called the shop with the intention of just seeking assistance. (I didn’t know if the piercing could be changed after just one day or if they could help at all…) The woman at the counter I spoke to was not very nice. She seemed annoyed that I didn’t know the style name of the piercing I had, and when I voiced my concerns she pretty much only said that I signed a waiver and they gave me options for jewelry. When I asked about getting a different piece for my nose piercing she asked “you know you have to pay for that right”? I DID know this. I had every intention of paying if I got something new and never asked for a refund. I understand I signed a consent and I know how piercing work. I was simply looking for support. I ended up going to another piercer, who told me not only was the piercing crooked, it was in the completely wrong place for someone with glasses. I removed the piercing and this new piercer will re-pierce me properly once I’m healed. Overall, I am disappointed that the woman at the counter only seemed to think I was trying to pull a fast one, instead of listening to my concerns, and also disappointed in the piercer for not taking my glasses into consideration when doing his job. I did say yes to the placement but didn’t know my glasses would cause such an issue. He was the professional. I expect them to know more than I do when it comes to placement.

Experiencia fantástica: this place is a genuine safe space for me. a year ago my friend and i got pierced here for the first time, since then we've both gotten pierced here again and just this week i finished getting my dream tattoo from joe carter. getting a neck tattoo is painful but joe was very gentle and patient when i needed to take a break. both times i've gotten pierced i needed my jewelry changed due to swelling and the two piercers who helped me were efficient and careful while handling the fresh piercings. everyone at this shop is super kind, helpful, and talented.

Experiencia fantástica: Came in for walk-in tattoos on a Saturday morning with a group of 4. The whole process from start to finish was easy and the front desk staff members were super helpful. They were able to get us booked within an hour and everyone was super nice throughout the whole process. I got tattooed from a guest artist and it healed perfectly. But there's some very talented resident artists here and I'll definitely be back to get some more ink.

Experiencia fantástica: My friends and I went here to get some walk in tattoos done while in Virginia Beach on vacation and this was a great experience from a tattoo shop. The artists were super friendly and did some awesome tattoos. If you’re in the area I highly recommend, everyone was so nice and accommodating to what we were looking to get done, truly a great shop!

Experiencia negativa: I have had multiple good experiences at this shop. I had my septum and right daith pieced by Kristy and have been tattooed by Linsey and Eric and have been extremely happy with the results. All of those individuals were professional and courteous. However, when I went to get my left daith pierced by Ryan, I had a very different experience. He seemed frustrated by me being there the entire time and was rough and short with me the entire time. My right daith did not bleed when pierced, but my left daith bled significantly during piercing. My left daith ended up getting severely infected to the point of having a fever and I had to go to Urgent Care to get antibiotics. When I went to the shop to tell them this, the response I received was, “You signed a waiver saying this could happen” with no acknowledgment or empathy. After six months of this piercing not healing, I had a piercer from a different shop look at it and she said that it should be pulled immediately because the piercing had been done too shallow and would eventually migrate out of my daith. After paying almost $200 for this piercing after jewelry and tip, this was disappointing to say the least.

Experiencia fantástica: This shop is by far the best in the area! The staff is amazing. The shop is gorgeous and beautifully designed with welcoming staff from the front desk to the artists. I have had several tattoos done recently with Morgon, who is a crazy talented and sweet artist! They did such wonderful work each time! I scheduled three more separate sessions when I left, I was hooked- Morgon is an absolute genius, most of the work was hand drawn- I was stunned. I tell everyone I know to come to this shop. I even have a friend desiring to travel out of town for Morgon because the work is incredible. They make you feel like family here. You come in meeting a tattoo artist but leave with a new friend! ✨

Experiencia positiva: I’ve been getting tattooed by one of the artists here for over 5 years now and I must say that you will never find any other artist that is as nice, kind, and as talented as Olivia is. As for the staff, they are some of the kindest and most knowledgeable that I’ve ever had the privilege of working with. Many companies have some sort of company mission or other, and I must say, The Collective is one of very few that exceeds their mission of providing hospitality and overall customer satisfaction. If you ever have the privilege, nay, the pleasure to walk through those doors at The Collective, I guarantee you will be greeted with the same hospitality as I was. As I am leaving the area, it is bittersweet to say goodbye to The Collective family, but I will always remember the wonderful and exciting experiences with all of the wonderful people that work there. Experiencia fantástica: I cannot say enough good things about this studio! I love the website design. They have all the artists' instagrams linked so you can easily get a feel for the style and strengths of each artist. When my partner and I arrived, we LOVED the plants. The whole studio was beautifully decorated and felt so cozy. The rainbow heart macrame and abortion donation signs were a huge plus for us too; we knew we were with our people and in an inclusive, welcoming space. Those vibes continued through all of the interactions with front desk staff and artists. Everyone was incredibly kind, encouraging, and fun to talk to. I watched my artist set up the station, so I knew the needles, gloves, cups, etc. were all clean and sterile. They gave great after care advice and Mike did a perfect job memorializing my pet in the style I wanted. My partner was thrilled with the linework and detail in his Halloween town keyblade. We both HIGHLY recommend this studio for all your tattoo/piercing needs.

Experiencia fantástica: My sister, mom, and I recently made an impulsive decision to get matching tattoos while celebrating my birthday a couple of weeks ago. We had spent the day at a brewery and couldn’t decide on what we wanted or where to go, so we thought we would wait until our next day off. Of course something came up and we pushed it even further. We decided that if we were going to get something meaningful, we really wanted to work with artists who fit our vision. After a couple of weeks of searching the web for the perfect tattoo shop, we looked at several places that just didn’t quite hit the mark. Each place had its merits, but something always felt a bit off. That’s when my sister sent me Linsey’s instagram. Her vibe was exactly what we envisioned. Delicate, precise, line-work and the capacity to get a little silly. It didn’t seem like she would make us feel like our designs were stupid. We found out that Linsey made herself available for walk-ins on the day we wanted, so it seemed kismet. Obviously we didn’t have an appointment, so we woke up early to make sure we could get there right at open as we were driving from North Carolina. From the moment we walked through the door, I knew we had found something special. The shop exudes a warm, inviting atmosphere that makes you feel at ease. The staff greeted us with genuine smiles and took the time to chat about our plans for the tattoos, the placement, and how long it would take. They were realistic about time and price. There was a little bit of a wait, so we went to lunch and emailed the designs I sketched out. After about an hour we returned for a brief consult with Linsey who made time to look over our vision for the tattoos. She offered thoughtful, logical advice and suggested changes that didn’t compromise the integrity of the design. Since the tattoos would take longer than we expected (especially my sisters) she proposed that we let another artist in on the action. She told us that Michael was a great artist whose style was similar to hers. While she worked on my sister’s tattoo, Michael worked on my mother’s. His line work was incredible and my mom said it didn’t even hurt. I was up next. Michael consulted me on what I wanted and made me feel validated in my ideas. He was able to keep some of the finer details I thought I would lose. I’ve been to a lot of shops where the artists were condescending and have been made to feel like I had to go with their suggestions. At The Collective, I was made to feel like I had autonomy over what I wanted on my body. Michael was genuinely great guy too. He was easy to talk to and joke around with and was authentically interested in what I had to say. I even got to briefly meet his wife and their son (the cutest baby ever). The owner of the shop stopped in the room and told me how awesome my family was and praised my mother and I for working in healthcare. You could tell that he legitimately cares about his shop’s clients and the team he has built in the shop. Everyone felt like a big family and made you feel like you were family too. This wasn’t just another tattoo, the professionalism and artistry at The Collective Tattoo are exceptional. Our tattoo artists were not only skilled but also incredibly personable, making sure every detail was perfect and that we felt comfortable throughout the process. The final result exceeded our expectations, and the entire experience was a testament to their dedication to both their craft and their clients. Their blend of expertise, cleanliness, friendly service, and welcoming environment makes them stand out as a refreshing top choice. We will go back time and time again and sing their praises to anyone willing to listen.

Experiencia fantástica: I’ve been going to The Collective now since 2011-2012. The owners are very friendly and always make me feel welcomed. The receptionists are very accommodating to any scheduling conflicts I may have. Currently, I’m getting tattooed from Chad and have been for a few years now. He always listens to my tattoo ideas and offers advice on how to best execute them. I highly recommend going to The Collective.

Experiencia fantástica: My friends and I were on vacation on a girls trip in Virginia Beach and we wanted to get tattoos. We knew it would be hard for 4 of us to just walk in somewhere but when we got to Collective they were soooo kind and accommodating and got us in and out in like an hour! We got very lucky because there had been a cancellation that day and extra staff on hand. They could not have been nicer! The girl up front was so fun and had the best energy! The girl who did my tattoo was kickass and super sweet and everyone was saying how cute my tattoo design was! Such a pretty studio and such a cool vibe! Experiencia fantástica: Everyone is so nice and helpful. The seating area is very comfy. Ryan pierced my nose and I have an awful pain tolerance and the pain was actually a 1/10. It was so quick and easy. I’d say my earlobes hurt more than getting my nose done here. Amazing experience. Would recommend to anyone.

Every time I come in the staff are quick to recognize me and make the interaction amazing. Chad is my artist, he is very professional and knows his craft. He is very responsive to ideas you have and offers you the best way to see your vision. He offers you several different viewpoints, and let's you choose the best way to move forward. He is very interactive with you while you are in the chair. He is always concerned with your comfort level. Super nice guy that wants you to have the best experience possible. His talent is off the charts. I would recommend Chad to anyone.

Experiencia fantástica: I have been to this place numerous times. I have a full back and left arm sleeve completed here. Not only has Chad done impeccable work and has been respectful and works with the ideas of his clients and with what, in his professional opinion, should be done in order to make great long lasting tattoos. Although I have I seen Chad work, but I’ve seen dozens of clients work from all the artists there and they have been nothing but professional and enjoyable people to be around. The desk service is second to none and I couldn’t be happier with all of their services.

Experiencia fantástica: I got my nostril pierced here and my experience with Kristy has been phenomenal. She's very kind, patiently answered all of my questions, and my initial piercing appointment was done so quickly and efficiently I was in and out of the studio in what felt like ten minutes.

Experiencia positiva: Super clean and well decorated place! The front desk was very nice and helpful with checking me in. I booked a septum with Ryan after reading mostly good reviews, but I got a weird vibe from him like he was annoyed I was there. He was very short to me when describing the process, the potential for it to hang a certain way “there’s nothing I can do about that”, and with the healing process. Bummed me out because after reading the reviews it seemed personal against me as others wrote about great experiences. Is it because I’m black?? (kidding, but also… ) I did end up emailing to get clarification about the aftercare (as I could tell he didn’t really want to talk to me) and Kelso who responded was very friendly!

The staff is inclusive and welcoming, and they always make you feel safe and heard. Morgon Smith was my artist for my 5-session cover-up, and they were one of the most professional and fun people to work with. They're incredibly talented, as are all the artists here, but I will definitely be back for Morgon!

We showed up to get on the waiting list, and then scheduled a time to come back later in the day. Each person in our group was paired with an amazing artist who did our tattoos. It was so fun to see everyone’s work. I had Lindsey as an artist and she did an incredible job. I initially thought I just wanted line work, but I think that the shading she suggested added so much to this piece. Also — my tattoo is healing so well, her touch was super gentle. Everyone in the shop was super friendly, understanding, and very chill. Everything in the shop was very clean and clean the decor was really inviting and homey. I would absolutely go back here! Shout out to reception who had lovely people working to answer all my questions before our group came in. So helpful and informative!

We waited our turn in a gorgeous plant filled, pressed tin ceiling, velvety old vibing high back couch , exquisite waiting area. All the staff at the front were polite, pleasant and helpful. When an artist was ready for each of us we went on back where it's just as lovely as the front of the place. Lindsey was my artist and she did not disappoint! She worked on my idea awhile to make it appropriate as a tattoo. She far exceeded my expectations on my peice and I gave her artistic freedom to make it perfect in her opinion as well as mine. We also made plans for a future project! She's absolute perfection : kind, gentle, so artistic, a delicate touch, and fun! Can't wait to go back. Experiencia fantástica: Had an incredible experience here. Consulted with Linsey about a month ago, and expressed that I wanted a micro realism sleeve and wanted her to show her creativity. I really didn’t have much of a guideline for her, other than a greek religious piece. Let me just say, she absolutely killed it!! So insanely detailed and beautiful. My overall experience at the shop with all the staff was nothing short of phenomenal. Thank you to the Collective Tattoo. Highly recommended.

Experiencia positiva: My artist and actual tattoo experience was great... Morgan. Hearts. She was wonderful. 5 stars for Morgan. But do read the low ratings on the business as well. I will go back to Morgan at collective. But there are awkward admin issues with the business. I went online what I thought was well in advance. Had to pay in advance for an appointment which I chose online later to find out they were booked that day... But could take walk ins.. just weird. So they said they started walk-ins at 4pm... Which is misleading. They seem to take walk-ins when the artists are there and ready for walk-ins which could be anytime after they open apparently. So I said fine... Showed up at 10am to get on walk in wait list... Which I was told was about 4ish. I rearranged my work schedule to be there by 3.30. got a text right after 2 to see if I was coming or wanted to cancel. I mean I get they are providing a sought after service. But it just seemed the desk was a bit 'pound sand'. That said I just was there for a quick tat. I LOVE Morgan ... She was brilliant and lovely and caring. The ambience is nice and super clean and comfortable... And I will follow Morgan if she leaves

Had such a good experience that when my 4 sisters and I decided we wanted matching tattoos, this was the place that came to mind. Prices are great, artists are even better, and the whole process felt like we were valued. They walked us through the best way to make an appointment or what day would be best to come in as a walk-in. Michael tattooed all of us and was so amazing. Made us all feel comfortable and did absolutely beautiful work.

Experiencia fantástica: I went to this tattoo shop as a walk in, there was a bit of a line ahead of me but nothing too bad. The front desk staff were extremely helpful and nice about what I wanted to get one. My artist, Michael was extremely talented with a tattoo gun. I was so impressed on how it turned out for a cover up. We were able to discuss the best way to orient it so it still covers up my underlying tattoo. I will definitely come here again for future tattoos.

I showed them a photo of what I wanted and they assigned me to Linsey! I arrived as soon as the shop opened, so my wait time was only about 20 ish minutes. Linsey is FANTASTIC with flowers and flower arrangements, which is exactly what I wanted. This was my first tattoo ever, so naturally I was nervous, but Linsey helped me feel totally at ease. She's a master, I totally recommend her if you're looking for flower pieces!

Morgan was great, telling me honestly that the idea I’d come up with wouldn’t last/hold up well. She worked with me to design a set of “gloves” and I was out of there in about 2 hours. Will definitely be back to get more ink from her, she was very fun to work with (despite her odd choice in music ) I love my magic hands!

She was so sweet and worked hard with me to be able to get in while I was in town. My artist was Linsey and she was so open minded and sweet my tattoo turned out perfect! I couldn’t ask for better. While I was in the owner Dave came by to introduce a new member of the team and stood and talked with us for a while. Then got to speak to him again as I was leaving. Experiencia fantástica: My tattoo experience today at The Collective Tattoo & Body Piercing was my first time going there. The place is clean and Everyone was very nice and professional. For a Saturday walk in, I didn't feel I waited too long at all and was checked in fairly quickly being that a few people were already there ahead of me. After stating what I was wanting, they put me with artist Geo. Tho nervous going in, I soon was put at ease.... not just by him being a cool guy but by his talent, skill and eye for detail. He took the time to listen to me and with his knowledge, he came up with a concept much better and sharper than the examples I had with me. I appreciated his suggestions along the way that added the extra pops to the piece. I love my tattoo!! He truly takes pride in the work he does. I highly recommend him and will DEFINITELY go back to him in the future!
