The reception desk was so nice and courteous. They ensured that they paired me with the right artist for my vision of what I wanted. My tattoo artist, Sebastian, was amazing. He was so kind and patient and thorough.

Experiencia negativa: No work completed – argumentative owner – no refund My issue is not with the artists or staff, but strictly with the owner and how a refund was handled after no tattoo was completed. In early October 2025, after months of communication and waiting for availability, I flew from Florida to Charlotte for a large upper-back tattoo. Prior to the appointment, I received no design preview, which didn’t concern me—I trusted the artist and expected to see it the day of. When I arrived, the entire block had no power. I was told it would be restored soon, so I checked in, paid a $300 deposit, met the artist, and reviewed the concept. What was presented was simply a photo overlay of my reference image with minimal additions. The artist explained it would need adjustments to fit my back properly, and we spent about an hour discussing ideas while he worked on sketches. Between the lack of power and the amount of design work still needed, we mutually agreed it made more sense for me to return another day for a full session. I left on good terms with the staff. About 20 days later, I received a design that looked nearly identical to what I had already seen. When I asked about the additions we discussed, I was told they were on his tablet, I didn’t hear back for another month and a half. After no communication through December and part of January, I decided to get tattooed locally and requested a refund. The receptionist and manager were kind and understanding, but said only the owner could approve refunds. After weeks of trying to reach him, I finally spoke with him—and the conversation was shocking. He was hostile, argumentative, talked over me, and repeatedly blamed me for everything. He claimed I “walked out,” accused me of questioning the artist’s ability, and insisted extensive design work had been done, which was simply not true. He also stated artists can work without power using headlamps, which I was never told at the appointment. Every concern I raised was deflected, repeated back inaccurately, or dismissed. It was clear he never intended to issue a refund. The call ended abruptly after he accused me of “threatening to record” the conversation, which I did not do. This is the first negative review I’ve ever felt compelled to write. I feel my deposit was taken without services being rendered. Any frustration I have is directed solely at the owner—not the artists or staff, who were friendly and professional. Addendum: After posting this review, I noticed multiple similar complaints describing the same behavior from the owner and a pattern of customer-blaming responses, which contradicts the “perfect satisfaction” claims he referenced during our call. I even saw where replied one negative comment stating the show minimum was $150… why was I made to pay $300 while standing in the shop. My bank has advised me to e-file with small claims and file a police report since we are out of the window to dispute a charge. I’m so pleased to see that I can edit this review. I see the owner of the shop has replied claiming that I “walked out” and “requested major alterations”. This is ABSOLUTELY not true. Almost every single point the owner is making is a major misrepresentation of the situation. EVERYONE in the shop that day knew I was leaving to return another day when the artist has a design ready for me. My artist and the manager knew, and I literally shook hands and fist bumped everyone before leaving. Even the manger recalled when I called back to request my contract in preparation to file with small claims. I could come to terms with losing the money, but I WILL NOT allow someone to tell blatant lies about me.

Experiencia fantástica: If there was a sixth star, I'd rate it out of five. I originally went to canvas, because I fell in love with Soldier's watercolor style and wanted his art on my body. Ever since, I consulted with him, he'd been excited to work on my skin and thanked me for the opportunity and for trusting him. On the day of the tattoo, an eight hour session, he went at it while still making sure I was comfortable and well taken care of. There's another side to the tattoo that Soldier designed and I'm very excited to return. Top artistry, talent, professionalism, an all around lovely person; and that's without mentioning the other artists, the rest of the staff and the studio itself. Very well worth the money, I recommend it one-hundred percent.

What's great about him besides being a phenomenal artist is that he really listens, suggests and makes sure you come up with exactly what you were looking for. My final result ended up being more than I could I ever imagined with my cover up. Easy to talk to and a great human being. I couldn't be happier with my experience and making sure I direct anyone to him and Canvas Tattoo.

I wasn’t familiar with any of the artists so I went with Maria Fernanda & I’m so pleased how it turned out. We looked over her design & she talked me out of putting the full quote because it was extremely sad (forever in my heart, no longer by my side). She said I would want to remember him & not cry & she was right! It took about 30 minutes for the tattoo and I will forever be grateful for the time she spent on the design & giving me a way to remember my sweet boy. I’ll be back for sure!!

First, our repeat tattoo artist, Daniel Marca. Daniel is excellent. His tattoos are wonderful and his demeanor is chill and inviting. If you want great art on your body and you're not in a hurry, schedule a session with him. Jason, the owner, is a bundle of energy and fun to talk with. He's forthcoming and wants to do good in the world. Ash is very friendly and helpful in her administrative post. We appreciate her smile and time with her. Victoria, another administrative person, is one of our favorites. She's a blast and we always look forward to seeing her. We feel lucky we've gotten to know her and form a connection with her. Overall, our time at Canvas has been both pleasant and meaningful. If you want a progressive, welcoming tattoo studio with some excellent artists and a couple of charming administrative folks, this could easily be the place for you.

Experiencia negativa: Diego’s customer service skills could use some work . I called and left a voicemail but I was given an appointment for a consultation .Instead the tattoo artist texted me every 2-3 hours, he never called to further converse about the tattoo I was wanting to have sketched. When I said something about never receiving a genuine 1-on-1 consultation, he said “excuse me” and “call the store to make a deposit”. Without addressing any of my concerns. Honestly and truthfully, I just wanted to feel heard . Especially if I’m trusting you to put permanent ink on my skin . I don’t know anyone that would go get a tattoo without talking to the artist first about what it is that you want for your custom tattoo . That tattoo I wanted also was sentimental, so thank you for showing me that you couldn’t care less ✌Some human decency could’ve went a long way .

Experiencia negativa: disrespectful, manipulative and unprofessional with terrible front desk service. great tattoo but i never got any reminders or updates via email or text message. i only spoke with the artist once then came in again for the tattoo. when it was time to pay for my tattoo, my artist and i agreed upon a price like at the consultation so we walk up to the front desk and i pull out my money and then we the receptionist starts speaking to my artist in spanish thinking i can’t understand what they’re saying but i did. they kept saying to my artist “no no let me help you out, i got this, let me do it so you get more” when the agreed upon price was $400 all of the sudden it was $500 and i didn’t have $500 so they start saying to me “well i guess (the artist) will just have to cut their losses and won’t get any money and won’t be making anything this session” then starts apologizing to my artist saying “i’m sorry, you don’t deserve this you work so hard” right in front of my face and i’m just standing there in disbelief of what’s happening. i feel so bad for the artist because of what the receptionist is saying so i give up some of my rent money so the shop and my artist can have more money. this was a birthday present from my significant other and it turned into an awful experience. i will never come back here as long as that receptionist is still working there. i have never felt so disrespected and manipulated in a so called “welcoming environment”

Jaider literally killed it and made my vision possible on the art I wanted for my half sleeve. The entire staff was wonderful! 2 full sessions and they all were so accommodating. Offering drinks and food all day. Leo at the front desk saw i got a little light headed toward the end of a 9 hour session and grabbed ice water and a ice pack and held it on my neck until I got color back. Can't say enough good things about this place and can't wait till my next visit which will be very soon (already scheduled) If your wondering if this is the place you should go with I would highly advise to go with them. You will not regret the experience.

Experiencia fantástica: I just had such an awesome session with Maria. I booked a consultation the day before, and after we sat down, she asked when I wanted to go ahead. I said "as soon as possible" so I filled out some paperwork and got in the chair on the spot. I had pretty specific ideas of what I was looking for, and Maria was able to understand exactly what I was trying to convey. She was very patient as well, and gave me her thoughts on placement and sizing, but ultimately left the final decision to me. The final result turned out better than I could have imagined. I am so pleased, and can't wait to go back.

Experiencia negativa: Only writing this review to help people who come after me. Going by past low star reviews, I know the owner will probably write back on my review to argue, but that's not what I'm here to do. I really just want others to know what I went through before they put down their deposit. 1) The initial communication was fine, but when it came to providing my full information and setting up a consult time, I had trouble getting a response. I found out later it's because there are multiple admins, and I'm not sure anyone helps keep individual clients organized for timely responses. 2) When I went for my consult, it actually ended up being a very short appointment, where I showed the same images that I had already sent in an email to the shop, and reiterated what I wanted. And that was it. Then I needed to put down my deposit, and come back a week later to actually see the design. I just didn't understand why I sent in reference photos for nothing to be prepared for my consult. 3) When I came back for the second consult, the design was not what I wanted/expected. I really have trouble telling someone to their face, "this is completely wrong," so I tried finding ways to make it work, and was very hopeful for the updated design. He showed me a preliminary design for what he was thinking/planning to change, and said he would send the full design to me the next weekend. I never got the design that next weekend, so I emailed on Monday to ask about it. I know they're closed on Mondays, but I didn't hear back on Tuesday either, so I finally emailed again on Wednesday afternoon. Later that day, they responded, but told me I would need to wait another week for the updated design. The next Wednesday came, and I still hadn't received an updated design. (And my tattoo session was supposed to be on the following Sunday.) I reached out again, and a few hours later received a text with 2 pictures, two options for the design. 4) The design was basically what I had seen right before I left my last consult, the quick sketch he had done before I left. The only thing that was changed was that the writing I had requested below the tattoo had been added. But overall, the design didn't look any different. So I was really confused why I had to wait 2.5 weeks for something that was essentially what I had already seen. 5) So finally, we come to what really made me decide to forgo my $300 deposit and look elsewhere: I realized that this has been a terrible process for me. I didn't feel fully heard or valued as a client, and the bottom line was my design was changed, and that didn't feel right. The artist said it was because it didn't look right artistically to him, but if it's what I've asked for, and am paying for, I should get it. This design was from a card I received from my mom before she died. It's really important to me, and getting this tattoo is kinda emotional. I just needed a little bit more care through this whole design process. Last two points: After sending an email to cancel my appointment, I did receive another design option that looked more like the card I brought in. But it still wasn't right, and the coloring had been changed (I already wanted it to more vibrant from the first design, and for some reason the colors were made darker in this one). So while I appreciate the attempt, it still felt halfhearted. English is the second language for the tattoo artist I was working with. And while that's no one's fault, I wish there had been someone with us during our consultations to make sure I was being heard, and he understood what I was asking. I really think that led to some of the confusion in the design. Anyway, if you've read through all of this, I wish you the best on your design and tattoo, and really hope you get what you wanted. I know these artists do good work, but now I've learned it's equally as important for you to feel comfortable with the artist and the shop/studio.

Experiencia negativa: Me and a friend visited Canvas to see about getting a coverup done. They set us up to have a consult with 2 artists. 1st red flag was that their power was out and instead of trying to reschedule or offering to send drawings, they tried to continue the consultation. My artist was not able to communicate with me (did not speak english and relied on phone translation) and she didn't feel comfortable doing a coverup even though we booked the appointment specifically for that. The artist assigned to my friend offered to draw me something and I gave them very specific instruction as to what I wanted. The first drawing I got was nothing like what I requested. I sent back changes and it was almost 2 weeks later I got the revision. It, again, was nothing like what I asked for. To the point where he changed the color, even though I specifically asked for a certain color. When we tried to cancel our appointments and get our deposit back, they said it was non-refundable. However! They pressured us into making an appointment in the first place because they were without power and couldn't draw it up while we were there. I personally will not ever come back to this shop. I'm sure others have had a fine experience but they were not someone I want to do business with.

Experiencia fantástica: Had a 2 day session with Jaider. Cant express how in love with my tattoo I am. Jaider was professional and listened to every idea I had. His work is immaculate and you cant even Tell its a cover up . Jaider and the shop made me feel comfortable and relaxed the entire time . I cant recommend a shop or artist more . If you need a tattoo get one from Jaider you won't be disappointed... in fact it will have you planning additional tattoos.

All of the artists’ portfolios are spectacular and are well versed in most styles that are trendy, contemporary and traditional. The location is perfect. The aesthetic on the outside reminds me of a cozy, niche cabin getaway. The inside is filled with independent art and warm greetings. The professionalism with my consultation and first session was unique and diverse. I had the pleasure of working with Maria, whom of which I booked for the day. Super talented, genuine, and focused. Can’t wait to finish my piece.

I was nervous about her being able to match the style to the tattoos I got overseas but everything looks seamless - like I can't overstate how beautifully detailed and realistic it looks. I'm already excited about coming back again to finish my half sleeve!

Experiencia fantástica: Me and two of my friends called in on a whim on a Sunday and spoke to Victoria who was just lovely, helpful and welcoming- especially considering the request for a random walk in for 3 people! We popped in, discussed what we wanted with Sebastion- he was extremely patient and confident to bring our half baked ideas to life. He took us back one by one- and when I tell you we were so excited!! His work is flawless and precise. We wanted fine line tattoos, and frankly I wish I had known him years ago to have done my previous ones- he’s that good. We each got 3 tattoos and couldn’t be happier, and the price was very reasonable too. I highly recommend Sebastion for your tattoo dreams, I certainly will be coming back for a cover up and probably a few more new ones!

I told him I wanted a black and grey American flag with “we the people” somewhere on it and gave him the freedom to put his creative touch on it and the end result was even better than I ever expected. I came to Pandora with a very simple idea and she turned the design into something absolutely amazing. She booked me for an all-day session with lots of breaks in between. The tattoo started off very detailed and I loved it the second she finished the first flower. And every time I would look down at my arm, the tattoo just continued to get more intricate, detailed, and beautiful. I cannot recommend Pandora enough, and will definitely be coming to her for any other tattoos I get in the future.

Literally the most talented humans in the cleanest and most professional studio I have ever been in. Experiencia fantástica: Before scheduling an appointment I did some digging on artist’s portfolios here and loved all of their work. After calling and getting matched with an artist to work with my cover up, I was excited to see what he would come up with. During my first consultation appointment I didn’t really have good reference pictures, but we sat down and talked about what I wanted in my tattoo. Going back for my first appointment, I was blown away by what he had drawn up. It was everything I asked for and more. It’s a clean comfortable shop and would highly recommend.

Felipe worked with me on a covering design and did a fantastic job covering the old tat. I highly recommend Canvass for all tattoo work and if you need and old tattoo covered, Felipe is the artist to do your work!

He drew up 3 options and they were all wonderful, but 1 was exactly what I wanted. I’ve had 1 session and have one more to go. Can’t wait to see the finished project. Awesome experience.

Experiencia fantástica: Canvas tattoo is a very clean and professional studio. The lady at the reception desk was very friendly and helpful. Soldier was highly recommended to me by a local friend. She previously had a cover-up done by him that is incredibly beautiful. She and I decided to get matching tattoos and chose Soldier as our artist because of his impressive color-work portfolio. When I arrived he was setting up his station for our session. He was on time, friendly and prepared. He is professional, organized, focused and has an unmatched eye for detail. During my session with Soldier he was very patient, gentle and constantly checked on me to make sure I was comfortable. I am very impressed with his work and I will look forward to another tattoo with him soon. **Adding that I returned for a cover up and Soldier did a great job creating a beautiful flower to cover an old mistake. Experiencia positiva: Tattoo was nice but 150$ for a small tattoo that took less than 30 mins is crazy. Tattoo is fading and I’ve only had it now 2 1/2 weeks me and my boyfriend got the same size and all together we paid 300$ definitely not worth 300$ for these tattoos

Experiencia fantástica: I wanted a small tattoo to memorialize my dog. I emailed a copy of what I wanted. They gave me a quote and set me up with Andrei. Andrei was very kind. I wanted to add my dog’s name but then decided not to after he put the template on. Andrei didn’t even blink. He said no problem and gave me the sweetest tattoo. Everything went exactly as they planned/quoted. I’ll definitely go back.

Experiencia fantástica: Best tattoo and tattoo experience I’ve had so far. Everyone was very friendly, including front desk staff. My artist was Natalie, and she made my reference drawing look even more amazing on my actual skin. I wanted a specific look to my shading and she 100% delivered on that. The tattooing process was also extremely comfortable, took just a little over an hour and I almost fell asleep. My boyfriend got tattooed by Maria and she also did an amazing job, not only on the tattoo but making sure her client is comfortable. I’m so sad we live in Florida and I can’t come here for all my tattoos. Cherries are by Natalie and rabbit is by Maria. 1st photo is 3 weeks healed and the other photos are right after we were tattooed.

I couldn't be happier, Pandora did a great job and made my first tattoo experience a breeze. Experiencia fantástica: my experience at canvas was absolutely amazing! while on a bachelorette trip, two of us decided last minute that we wanted to get tattoos. it was an hour before closing, but the staff were all super accommodating and friendly! we interacted with at least four staff members (i regretfully don’t remember all their names) and everyone was extremely professional, helpful, and kind! our artist, chad, did an awesome job and was thorough, clean, and precise! i whole-heartedly recommend checking out canvas for your next tattoo!

Experiencia fantástica: All I can say is wow! From the front desk representative (a cutie), to the decor, and of course the artist. Soldier was my tattoo artist and he did an AMAZING job. I now have 10 tattoos. All professionally done, and the one Soldier did for me is by far the best. He did an Orca jumping out of water. It is colorful and you can tell it's an Orca. I've been receiving compliments. I would share it but it's swollen and I have it resting on ice right now. I will definitely be back. This place rocks!! Keep up the great work!!!
