The lines are so clean and delicate, and he really took the time to make sure everything looked perfect before starting. The shop was professional, welcoming, and the whole experience felt relaxed and comfortable. I absolutely love how it turned out. After a brief chat, the front desk immediately linked me up with an available artist (since I was a walk-in). Shop was very clean. I knew exactly what I wanted, and Franky was able to top my expectations in design. In no time at all, we were getting started. Each step of the way, Franky made sure I was satisfied with the direction he wanted to go and asked for my inputs. All the other artists, much like my artist, seemed to have a lot of passion and professionalism. Good vibes from this shop. No doubt, whether you are new, a tourist, a vet, or a local... this is the shop for you. Price depends on artist, their time, and their experience. Negative experience: My experience with this company was disappointing. I paid a $1,000USD deposit for a tattoo, but when the original artist canceled, I was required to use a different artist at another location or forfeit my deposit due to a strict no-refund policy, regardless of fault. The second artist refused to create my requested design and insisted on their own version, disregarding my input. The total cost was $1,800USD for six hours, including drawing time (5" x 8"), which I believe does not justify the $300USD per hour rate. While the artists were courteous, I advise caution before choosing this or affiliated shops. The process felt more like dealing with a corporation than hiring an individual artist. Be sure to read all terms carefully. The final piece incorporated some elements of my original design but did not match my request, despite multiple attempts to clarify. The quality is acceptable, but not superior to other shops, especially considering the significant price difference. As requested by the owner, the images have been uploaded. The image on the left represents the original request, while the image on the right (still healing) shows the final result. Although several elements from the requested design were incorporated, the outcome does not fully match the original image. The workmanship is acceptable, and comparable to standard mainland shops, with exception to considerable price differences. You are hiring an LLC here, not a specific artist. I hope this information assists others in making an informed decision.

Negative experience: A very disappointing experience with Franky. Upon arrival, the customer had to wait because Franky was outside the shop on the phone, ignoring that someone was waiting to be served. From the moment the design was shown, it was clear Franky didn’t like it. Rather than offering constructive advice, he stated that if the tattoo didn’t heal properly, it would be the customer’s own fault and not his. When the customer said they wanted some time to think about the design and might return later, Franky responded aggressively with, “You don’t have to lie to me. If you’re not coming back just tell me.” To make matters worse, other staff members witnessed the interaction and said nothing, offering no support or professionalism. Overall, the attitude, defensiveness, and poor customer service were extremely disappointing. This artist is not recommended.

Loved the creativity of his freestyle, and we had a fantastic experience at Wailana Tattoo. AJ is incredibly talented and truly understood the meaning and cultural significance of our tattoo request. He took the time to listen to our ideas and brought them to life by explaining the importance of each cultural symbol and what we were looking for to keep up with modern traditional tattooing. The details and precision in his work are outstanding. The place is bright and clean, and it sells modern traditional cultural jewelry (also body-piercing jewelry) that sells out really quickly. Be sure to check out the handmade Hawaiian traditional jewelry on display, and the prices are very reasonable, whether it’s for a tattoo or jewelry. Suppose you are not looking for conventional Polynesian artwork. In that case, there are other artists there that are just as amazing as AJ, with many years of experience tattooing, and they are a fun crew with that aloha spirit. Highly recommend Wailana Tattoo, and if you don’t have an idea what you want to get, the artists can work with you. Happy tattooing.

Negative experience: We went in there on the last day of our trip wanting to get tattoos and my fiancé got one 2 days ago and the shading is very bad, it’s patchy it’s streaky and it’s inconsistent. We paid $300 dollars to get the red on her arm and compared to the other ones she has it looks faded. Originally when it was fresh it looked great but now that it’s healing you can really see all the errors. From a trip that was supposed to be fun and spontaneous, I’m now short of $300 and a displeased fiancé. Although I won’t say the artist, on his page he has amazing work but his “hard and fast” technique in the end left us upset. I would just recommend for the artists moving forward to just take their time so future clientele don’t have the same experience.
