Fantastic experience: Took my parents to Hawaii for their fiftieth anniversary and they decided to get tattooed. Took them to Black Palette and luckily they were able to take walk-ins. Mom has a brother who passed way twenty five years ago from cancer. Last year on our family golf trip to Vegas the men got frog tattoos because his nickname was Frog. So now mom, dad and my sister are getting frog tattoos. Black Palette took great care of them.

Fantastic experience: I did a walk in with a design in mind and I was linked with Kevin. After reviewing my design he helped picked the size and placement. The whole process was great and he did an amazing job. I was nervous as it's my first tattoo but it went really well. I will recommend this tattoo shop.

Fantastic experience: We had a group of four getting family tattoos, and Black Palette was able to accommodate all of us in one appointment, which we really appreciated. Josh and Kevin were our artists, and both absolutely nailed the designs. Their pricing was fair, and the studio itself was very clean with an upscale feel. Throughout the sessions, both artists consistently checked in to make sure we were comfortable, which made the experience even better. These weren’t our first tattoos, but they still made comfort a top priority. Overall, it was a great experience, and we’d definitely recommend Black Palette to anyone looking for quality work in a professional and welcoming environment.

Fantastic experience: Had an appointment with Kirby for two tattoos during my first visit. The person I texted to book the appointment made it very easy. Sent them the designs i wanted and they were able to make it happen. Kirby was very professional and made the process so smooth. Only took 1.5 hours for both pieces. Love it and will be coming back next visit!

Fantastic experience: When I say they mean BUSINESS!!!!! The entire crew was so professional and welcoming, and they worked with our schedules to bring our visions to life. My and my boyfriend both got artwork done, and though the styles were both so different, they nailed them both hands down. Highly recommend, and the icing on the cake, the studio playlist was the whole time!!!!!

Positive experience: The location is good and clean, the artist was very nice. I went in for a small fine line tattoo and it didn’t even last 2 months. I thought it was just me and just felt disappointed at the outcome. We were visiting with a large group and a few of us had appointments for tattoos. Three other friends also have faded tattoos that dim or last even 2 months. One other was a fine line like mine and the other two were regular ones. Since we do not live there I cannot go back in for a touch up.

Fantastic experience: Was visiting in Waikiki and have been talking about getting a tattoo every time we go to Hawaii but I was always hesitant to get one. I could never really decide on what I wanted until this trip! Decided on getting a Sun with water as they are my 2 favorite things. Had an appointment with Kevin Kim and man I’m glad I did. He was amazing, patient, had great feedback on what I wanted. Turned out perfect. He will be doing my next one when I go back! No pain or nothing while getting it done!

I ran my first marathon so I got an anklet on my left ankle with a shoe charm (to commemorate my first marathon), a hibiscus flower for Hawaii, and turtle charm for added cuteness. She was so communicative and really listened to my ideas! She was patient when it came to placement when I was making sure it was exactly where I wanted it. Fantastic experience: Worked with a great and creative artist Napua. Great designs and kept it close to the reference photo we had. Line work is amazing, shading is on point. She was really accommodating with last minute changes from black and grey to adding color. While getting tattooed didn’t even feel like I was getting tatted. Keep up the great work! Negative experience: 5/5 stars for Josh- He is super friendly and an amazing artist!!! This whole piece was done free handed!! Absolutely love my new piece!!❤️ couldn’t be anymore happier!! He was also able to cover up my knee scars! Bonus!!! Lastly, he was also able to squish me into his busy day after my tattoo artist left me sitting for hours. Now to explain 1/5 stars. I came in at 11am for my apt. Around 12:30 front staff told me Kyle was “running late in traffic but on the way”. Which is totally understandable, no hard feelings. Kept sitting around waiting and nothing. Around 1:35pm front staff came back and said changed to “family emergency” and that he was no longer coming in. The communication was AWFUL! This was also a PRE-BOOKED apt ( MONTHS in advance, we also popped in a week before the scheduled apt, after landing in Hawaii.) we all sat around the studio from 11am, and was not done until approx 7:30pm. 3/5 of the people in our group had an issue with their artist, (2 of us had the same and another one in our group had another artist who also no show due to also now “family emergency” . Felt like the shop was just throwing “family emergency” around as an excuse to try to make them look better. This was a Saturday. Felt like they didn’t wanna work weekends. No discounts. Nothing.

Positive experience: The only reason this place is getting a 3 star review is because Brandon M saved the day. Brandon gets a 5 star review. The business gets a 1 star review. I booked my tattoo back in August for our group trip in November near the end. We had 5 people booked for the same day. I was booked with an artist I won’t name. I stopped into the tattoo shop a week before my tattoo date, to clarify they knew what I wanted, which was a palm tree, nothing crazy. But I wanted to just make sure everything was good. The front desk man assured me they had all my information and we were good to go. On the day of, we all showed up. My appointment was at 11. I was still sitting there at 11:30. At 11:40 the front desk lady finally came over to let me know my artist wasn’t coming because she wasn’t back after having her baby? and asked how long I had before we were leaving, today was the last day possible for our tattoo. So she reached out to other artists. Thank goodness Brandon came in and made it within 30 minutes and saved the day for me! They clearly knew the lady wasn’t returning and did not let me know or book me with someone else previous to my appointment time. They prolonged our day significantly. We got there at 10am and didn’t end up getting out of there until after 7:30pm. Solid waste of our last day with no deals, no nothing. And I paid more for my tattoo than quoted. Brandon was amazing. He was so kind, funny and great to deal with. Brandon did my tattoo beautifully. My two friends were booked with another artist who also said they weren’t coming in an hour after their appointment time. I hate leaving bad reviews and there’s always bad days. But a little bit of professionalism goes a long way.
