Fantastic experience: I have had nothing but GREAT experiences with Kayla and the High Vibes team! I went in for a custom appointment back in March and have gone to several pop-ups since. 10 tiny tattoos later, I think it’s safe to say I’m hooked! She puts you at ease each time and the pop-ups are such a fun and exciting way to get new “adult stickers.” I’d recommend her to everyone…first tattoo or several tattoos down the line!

Fantastic experience: Just DO IT. Seriously. I got my first tattoos from High Vibes about 2 or 3 years ago. I’ve been to numerous pop ups of hers and am a huge fan. There are so many people in Charlotte that try to replicate what she’s done (tattoo pop ups with cute flash designs) but Kayla and the High Vibes team are by far and wide the best. I have about 40 tattoos and have gone to 20+ pop ups. HV has an incredibly good pop up. They know what they’re doing and they’re a well-oiled machine. Kayla does her own designs (unlike some other local “artists”) and cares about every single person that goes under the needle. Life is too short to not get tattooed. Do it with High Vibes.

Fantastic experience: I have gotten multiple tattoos from Kayla and they have all been the best fine line work. I am particularly in love with my father’s handwriting that she did for me. She has a lite touch and pays great attention to detail! Highly recommend!

Negative experience: This was my worst tattoo experience out of all of the tattoos I’ve received. Her customer service post-tattoo really sealed the deal for the worst experience. After getting two tattoos at a pop up, within a month of the tattoos healing, I could tell one already needed to be touched up and when I reached out about that I was told to simply show up at a different pop up event and wait in line again in hopes of getting a touch up…I already did that once for bad quality so why would I want to do that again? A year later, I finally went to a good tattoo artist to fix the mess Kayla made and this professional establishment explained that she doesn’t do good quality fine line tattoos because she waters down the ink and then doesn’t go deep enough into the skin. This entire experience felt like I got scammed.

Negative experience: I am not typically one to write negative reviews, but I was quite disappointed with my experience with High Vibes and wanted to warn others to proceed with caution. First of all, the staff is very kind and I have no problems with them personally at all!! I really wanted to love my tattoo experience, and I had seen so many positive reviews that I second-guessed myself. However, after my friend had a bad first tattoo experience with them also, I figured something should be said. I visited a pop-up and got one very small tattoo for $70. Immediately, I thought it looked faded and off from the stencil. This was my first fine line tattoo, but now that I have another, I know that even though the needle is smaller, it should not look like mine did. For reference, my other tattoos resembled a pen, and this one resembled an uneven pencil drawing. My other fine line tattoo looks perfect, done by another artist in Charlotte. I followed every protocol to ensure proper healing, but the tattoo looked faded the second I got it. I sent the artist photos and asked if she could fix it, and she said I could get it touched up at any pop-up, on a first-come, first-served basis. I was a little annoyed that I couldn't schedule a quick touch-up appointment, but I tried to remain understanding throughout the entire process. After securing a spot, I came in for the touch-up. Again, they were so nice throughout everything, and she went over the whole tattoo because the whole thing needed to be fixed. Now, most artists I've been to in the past would comp a touch-up if the mistake was made on their end; however, High Vibes charges a $10 touch-up fee. So, the $70 tattoo turned into $80. It looks a lot better now, but I wish it could have been right the first time and that the artist would have compensated for the touch-up that was needed as a result of her poor work. Perhaps if I had spoken up the first time, it would have been different. However, my friend, who had a similar experience, actually did say something, and the artist declined to address it in the moment. Meanwhile, her tattoo looks more uneven than mine, and the circle in her tattoo is not at all a circle. Please proceed with caution and avoid falling into the same situation I did, as I spent $80 and more time than necessary on a tiny tattoo.

Fantastic experience: Went to the shop pop-up for the first time and had such a great experience! I’m not new to getting tattoos, but she was honestly one of the nicest and most welcoming artists I’ve met. Super clean setup, talented, easy to talk to, and really informative throughout the process. Her fine line work came out perfect. I’ll definitely be back for her to do more art!

They are very accommodating and respond back to messages too. They will do touch up on your tattoos if needed as well! My skin hardly takes ink sometimes but they accommodated me and I just love the small dainty designs. I’m a dainty girl, I can’t handle too big of pieces so they are perfect for me!
