Katdemon Ink Tattoo Studio Cardiff

Negative experience: I got my septum pierced here around two years ago and have consulted another piercer about it since so thought I’d come back to leave a review. Firstly, the placement of my piercing was wrong, the piercing was done too high up meaning i can only wear septum jewellery of a larger diameter than standard. This is the major issue I have experienced with the piercing as I am unable to buy the majority of septum jewellery and have it fit appropriately. Secondly, the gauge of the jewellery was too large. At the time I was freshly sixteen and didn’t have many piercings so I chose to trust the judgement of the piercer but even family and friends said it looked strangely large. After showing photos to a professional I was told the jewellery looked to be between 10-12G, far larger than a standard septum ring. I ended up having to pay for a jewellery change at a different establishment so that the piercing didn’t heal with so large a hole. Finally, as many of the other reviews state, the man who pierced me (who I assume based on other reviews is the owner/manager), was very arrogant and borderline rude to me during the appointment, which was upsetting as I was again, freshly sixteen at the time. From what I’ve seen from other reviews it seems he has a pattern of hostile behaviour towards young women especially, which is disappointing. Even his responses to other negative reviews are massively condescending. I cannot speak to the standard of tattooing as I haven’t returned since but I would definitely recommend going elsewhere for piercings.

Fantastic experience: I recently had my first tattoo with Kat. On arriving I was made to feel very welcome and was impressed with the cleanliness of the studio. Kat explained the procedure and showed me the ink she was using and dates etc. Before having my tattoo i had to fill in a questionnaire. When Kat started my tattoo before continuing she asked if i was ok and not in pain. As we chatted I felt very little discomfort. My tattoo was a tribute to my father who passed away when I was very young. I'm thrilled to bits with my tattoo and people have commentated on the design. Many thanks Kat. Fantastic experience: Kat is a brilliant artist with a lot of experience in every style! She’s tattooed me a few times and the experience is always great Hygiene levels are Gold Standard especially if you compare to other tattoo shops— most of which fall a mile behind her. Kat is lovely and reassuring, she’s very attentive to how you’re feeling and if you’re struggling with the pain. She’s also very gentle— I find her work far less painful than other shops I’ve visited. The shop itself is lovely and welcoming (looks fab after the refurb!!!) Kat’s room is enclosed and private, which offers a more comfortable experience than an open space with lots of artists working simultaneously. Highly recommended and always worth the wait

Fantastic experience: Absolutely amazing experience. Kat is an amazing artist and was happy to support me and give advice in advance of my first tattoo. Her detail work is exceptional, and the aftercare is comprehensive. A really friendly and supportive atmosphere is evident at the studio. There is a waiting list, but it was absolutely worth the wait. I'm really happy with my tattoo. My wife is now considering a tattoo from here on the strength of my experience, and if I want another, I'll definitely be back.

Fantastic experience: Kat did my first ever tattoo a few weeks ago. She was really friendly and helpful, both in the lead-up and on the day itself. She helped me with design ideas and the end result was exactly what I wanted. The process itself felt really comfortable, and I'm really happy with how it looks. The studio was really clean, and the aftercare communication was really helpful. On top of that, I thought it was really good value for money.

Fantastic experience: I had a tattoo done at Katdemon Ink recently and the entire experience was amazing. My tattoo looks absolutely incredible and Kat was so nice - we chatted the entire time which was awesome as I was really nervous! She also made sure I was completely informed about everything and gave me in-depth aftercare instructions. The studio is awesome and really clean. Fantastic experience: Got my Tattoo here around a month ago, Kat was lovely and talked through the process in a way that felt safe and easy to understand! She was so friendly and easy to talk to and remained professional the entire appointment! I am so happy with the final tattoo and with Kat’s advice it has healed amazingly well with no issues! Kat, tidied up existing 4 tattoos that actually now look as they should have done originally, and created two new designs which were perfect. Fantastic experience: I can't stop looking at my Tattoo, I absolutely love it. It was my first Tattoo and I wasn't sure of what I exactly wanted, I sent Kat a few picture ideas and she designed it for me, I loved it. Fantastic experience: This woman is an absolute angel on earth. Never have I met someone so kind, helpful, funny and not to mention incredibly talented. Fantastic experience: Went for my first tattoo Saturday, and at 67 that's some mean feat!! Chose Katdemon as she was rated as one of the best tattooists in the area and I was not disappointed. The cleanliness, hygiene and the skill of Kat is amazing, you definitely get an enjoyable experience.

Fantastic experience: I’ve been coming to Cardiff Piercing since 2019 and have had 12 different piercings. I wouldn't go anywhere else. Highest professional and customer service. My favourite thing about Daryn and Rebecca is their honesty. If the piercing won’t fit your anatomy or if the jewellery won’t heal properly they will tell you. They have an excellent eye for detail. They have the most stunning jewellery and their aftercare is brilliant. Anytime I have a question after the appointment they have helped me out. I recommend them to anyone and will continue to visit!

Negative experience: This is literally the worst piercing salon I have ever used. They charged me and my friend £100 each for one piercing, to which the owner went into a huge justification for. So the girl, his assistant pierced the top of my ear. She took ages and said she was finding it difficult. She admitted this again after. It bled for over half an hour, and they didn't even have a sugary drink to help me when I felt faint. When it was clear enough I noticed it was hidden behind the top of my lobe. I said I couldn't see it. She said it was for other ppl to see and to wait for the swelling to go down. I have a huge bump on the back of my lobe and it still hurts, so much I had to take it out and I noticed the piercing was wonky. When I rang to say about all the issues, she admitted she found the piercing difficult and couldn't help cos the boss, Darryn, basically wouldn't let her. Darryn the owner was very aggressive from the outset and said I'd signed a form and he'd see me in small claims court. My friend commented that she felt he was highly stressed and somewhere in the spectrum probably when we met him. I then rang back again, where this time he said I'd behaved inappropriately with him in the shop, so I demanded to know how. He said he couldn't remember. I said if you're so traumatised by it why can't you remember? He then said, wait a minute. Came back on the phone after a few seconds and said I'd said I wanted to seduce him. I was so shocked and upset. I said, I'm sorry you have the wrong person, but he insisted it was me. I accused him of homophobia because that is literally the only thing I can put it down to. Who is going to say something like that with two other ppl in the room. Thank God, one of them was my friend. Darryn is very aggressive when suggested he's made a mistake, he shouted, lied and was just plain nasty. God forbid you have a problem with this guy cos he simply won't help. The most they offered was £50 to move it a few mm. I had already paid the ludicrous sum of £100. You can get two piercings for that in other stores. His lies and plain unprofessionalism is disgusting. The girl was at least nice. I would never go here again and highly suggest no one does. Because if you have a problem then you're done for cos of the waiver you sign and the fact the manager is so tight. It's in the hands of the police now, and all I can say is start clear. They're only nice when they're taking your money. Avoid at all costs!!

Fantastic experience: The best experience I’ve had whilst having a piercing due to the professionalism that the staff maintained. All my pre and post piercing information was provided to me without me having to ask a single question. 100% recommend.

Fantastic experience: My daughter got her ear lobes pierced yesterday. We were very impressed with the amazing service we received. Everyone was very relaxed and was working to a very high standard of hygiene. My daughter said that it was a very positive experience and that she would recommend Katdemon to anyone. Needless to say that the advice we received was very detailed and the piercings look great

Fantastic experience: As always a superb service from Daryn,kat and team. My daughter was here last year to have her 2nd and 3rd piercings done on her lobes and had no problems at all with the healing process. The jewellery that is used is amazing quality and definitely makes a difference. So last week my daughter had her helix done for her birthday and Daryn is so great with putting anyone at ease and talks the process through, and hygiene is 10000% above any well known high street name. So I decided to go back and get mine done also. Have had no issues with healing and were both over the moon. Fantastic experience: Had a really great experience here getting a new tattoo! I really love the design and it’s just what I wanted, perfect! Kat was great beforehand, discussing the detail and sending through choices/ the final design. During my appointment Kat was fab, so lovely & friendly! Fantastic experience: The most professional piercing experience in cardiff! I could not recommend the team here enough! They were more than professional and accommodating. Fantastic experience: When it comes to south Wales, there is only one place to go for a piercing or tattoo! Kat and Daryn are two of the most skilled workers in the industry. The jewellery selection and custom tattoo work coming out of this studio should make it an easy decision for your next piece of body art. Having travelled around the bay area extensively it turns out some studios that look good on google often turn out to be in a shed or down some back alley so it was refreshing to see this place look as good in real life as it does int their social media!

Negative experience: DO NOT USE. Staff extremely rude and arrogant. Took my 14 year old daughter for her ears to be pierced. We were treated with discontent right from the beginning. Starting when we were forced to be ‘antibacterial downed’ in some liquid solution on the door. The manager or owner was horrible, made my daughter upset by the tone in his voice. They charge £25 up front before you’ve even had anything done and then refuse to move an appointment. No customer service. Shambles of a place.

Fantastic experience: I went to Daryn for two nostril piercings 3 weeks ago. He was very professional and friendly as were his two apprentices/assistants. He took the time to make sure I was happy with the placements and was very patient. I would highly recommend him, especially for a first time piercing.

Fantastic experience: Myself and husband have had several tattoos by Kat now. We would not hesitate to recommend at all. The studio is immaculate and their hygiene processes are above anything else I’ve seen - even at a healthcare setting! Kats work is flawless and we won’t go anywhere else for our tattoos now.

Fantastic experience: I’ve over the years been to a few tattoo studios an although the tattooists work have been good the atmosphere has always been a little intimidating and almost mocked you for your tattoo choice…I just want to say not only is kat an amazing tattooist but her and all the staff working there made me feel so welcome, relaxed and so non judgmental.. Fantastic experience: I had my first tattoo with Kat a few years ago. I was fully informed by Kat about the process and after care commitment at the start of my appointment. I was put at ease immediately by her calm and warm nature, and I enjoyed the whole experience fully. Kat also contacted me a few weeks later to see how the healing was going. Since then, I have had a few more tattoos. I have been fully delighted with each piece, and have been made very welcome by all the friendly staff, and have enjoyed each visit to this spotlessly clean studio. Communication before each appointment has been clear, friendly and very helpful, and even when I was being slightly indecisive about the detail on one particular piece, Kat was patient and understanding of how meaningful it was to me. If you want an artist who is knowledgeable, experienced, talented and passionate about their work, and who will put you fully at ease, then Kat is the artist for you!

Fantastic experience: I attended an appointment for an ear piercing here last week (march 2022)- It was my first piercing anywhere, but I was struck that it was very professional and clean. Every disposable item needed was shown to me prior to being opened, so I could inspect the date and verify it hadn't expired. (I didn't have to ask for this , it was volunteered). The jewellry I selected was sterilized in a machine, and tested, and I was shown an indicator that it was sterile. I was given an aftercare solution, and told to use it once a day, and otherwise not touch the ears. I have followed the instructions carefully - Its been 4 days now - I havent had any issues at all, no bleeding, irritation or anything else. Staff were friendly and helpful, and I would use again - it felt reassuring, hygenic and safe.

Fantastic experience: I would highly recommend this place and absolutely plan on coming back. The only piercings I got this day were my second lobes which went very well, the place was extremely clean and well sanitized throughout the entire process. But more importantly, and why I would 100% recommend Daryn, is that I was looking for advice on my triple forward helix that I got done about 3 years ago that was very botched and crooked. I ended up taking the top two out almost a year ago to let them heal and have them re done by a better piercer. I've gone to a lot of people in my city (in Canada) and so many said they could do it but I was very hesitant as I really wanted it redone well, and based on reviews I couldn't find anyone near me to trust with it. I recently moved to Wales and when I spoke to Daryn about it, he looked at my ear and the placement and was very honest about how my ear doesn't have the right anatomy for those piercings, and whoever did it (and everyone after who said they could fix it) should have known that and shouldn't have pierced me there in the first place. There wasn't really anything that could be done to make it look the way it's supposed to, i just don't have the ear space or shape for it. It wasn't what I wanted to hear because it was a piercing that I really wanted and had already spent so much money and time on, however I REALLY appreciated his honestly and expertise. A lot of piercers would have given it to me anyway just as a money grab, but Daryn seemed to care too much about his work and his customers to try to give a piercing that just won't work on someone. He absolutely knew what he was talking about and explained why it wouldn't fit right and gave other solutions, which I really appreciated. After this experience I would absolutely come back to have something else pierced by him, he definitely works with the customers best interest in mind and I felt very comfortable with him. The discussion about not being able to redo the botched piercings did drop my spirits during the appointment, (by no fault of Daryn, I was just disappointed by how much I had invested in it already and it was sad to hear the truth, but it was very much needed!). He kept talking to me about home and school and I could tell he was trying to make me feel better and excited for my new lobe piercings, which turned out really beautiful! Daryn if you are reading this, I promise I'm usually a more happy, chatty person haha. Thank you so much for the new piercings and guidance, I definitely want to come back and have more done knowing I'm in VERY excellent hands.

Daryn talked me through the process, helped me to select the most appropriate jewellery, and made sure that I was well informed before proceeding. Fantastic experience: I had my conch pierced by Daryn last August which has healed beautifully, and a double flat piercing recently which are healing really well. The studio is incredibly clean, the jewellery is beautiful (and there’s such a wide range that there’s something for everyone), and the staff are all lovely and chatty. Will definitely be back for more in the future (and have been recommending Daryn to friends in the Cardiff area)!

Fantastic experience: Daryn is an excellent piercer and, most importantly, ethical. If a piercer will pierce a 14 year old without ID I'd be worried but Daryn insists on photo ID every time, as he should! Ignore the recent negative reviews, they aren't a true indication of the service provided, just stroppy buggers who have copped a snot at Daryn doi g his job right.

Kat is an excellent artist and really brought my Tattoo idea to life, adding details to my initial design I would never have thought of. They have an easy to use online booking system, and once you get to the shop, everything is immaculately clean and hygienic. Fantastic experience: Thank you to Daryn for piercing my daughter’s ears so well. (She is 10). It was an excellent idea to have an initial consultation as it gave plenty of opportunity to ask questions and see where the piercing would take place. This was very reassuring for both of us. You can have confidence that everything is only used once and the environment is clean and sterile. Daryn was very honest with my daughter, but also calm and reassuring and she had absolutely no problems with the whole procedure. Fantastic experience: Daryn has pierced my earlobes and now my tragus and my experience with him has been fantastic. He knows everything you need to know and has never failed to answer any question I have. He understands peoples trepidations about getting pierced and works hard to make you feel at home and is extremely approachable. The shop is immaculate, all the equipment is of the highest standard and you are shown the expiry dates on all the needles, syringes, everything. All the studs, rings etc are only the best material. Won't go anywhere else for my piercings, totally recommend.
