Fantastic experience: My best friend and I visted Talisman as walk in appointments. Our appointment was with Erim and he didn't disappoint. He designed and created exactly what we asked for, both of us extremely happy. Great aftercare advice too. The studio staff were very welcoming. Would definitely visit again.

Fantastic experience: I had my first ever tattoo done by Sam, he reassured me that the pain wasn't going to be as bad as I thought it was going to be which helped a lot!! I managed to get an appointment very quickly through Laurie who was great help :)

Fantastic experience: Came this afternoon with a friend after a semi-spontaneous booking a few days prior. Couldn't have asked for a better experience. Clean, precise and very friendly and calming place to have my first proper piercing. Honestly Brett was an absolutely lovely person, made me feel dead relaxed. Fantastic experience: Absolutely amazing work from G, we had a little mishap with the booking date, honest mistake I was gonna put 4 stars but the friendly service and banter made me feel very welcomed and at home, the price is very reasonable and absolutely worth the money, also I got to put some tunes on so 10/10 experience. Fantastic experience: Erim is an incredible artist, I phoned to see if I could take a walk in spot - 10mins later I was in the chair ready to go! I absolutely love my tattoo, the line work is superb and Erim was so gentle, I could have easily been tattooed by him all day long!

The vibe that everybody in the studio gave off was so amazing and homely, I felt completely safe with them and the environment was clean too. Positive experience: Tattooist was lovely and we had amazing tattoos. However the guy who runs it is just awful! A tattoo is for life and a big thing but the vibe from him was rude and non caring! I would never go back!

Fantastic experience: 25 years since I had a tattoo so was understandably nervous! Had to change my appointment twice for medical reasons but Laurie was very helpful, understanding and accommodating. On the day itself, Sam very quickly put me at ease and I am delighted with the tattoo. I suspect I will be back! But in the meantime I would happily recommend Talisman to anyone considering a tattoo.

Fantastic experience: G is an absolute gentleman & fantastic artist. I am having a full leg sleeve of Alice in Wonderland. Absolutely delighted with how it is coming along. I always habe a laugh with G & Larry when in for my sittings. Would highly recommend the studio, I have used multiple artists for my separate pieces over the years. A1 artwork & a First Class studio with professional, friendly staff who you can have a bit of craic with.

Fantastic experience: Great experience for a first time tattoo. Laurie is a super guy, friendly and very helpful with advice. Erim did my tattoo, he was lovely, caring and patient. So good I had another, so now I have two.. Why stop at one right! Great place - I highly recommend it.

Fantastic experience: Fantastic experience, from the ease of booking right through to the finished tattoo. Erim was a fantastic artist - gentle, thoughtful, excellent quality work and very keen to get it right all the way through. It wasn’t my first tattoo by any means but I would highly recommend for anyone who wants to be guided carefully through the whole process of getting a tattoo especially for the first time. Excellent work.

Fantastic experience: In May, I came here for a double helix piercing - I had zero complications and they healed perfectly. The other week, I stupidly took out one of the earrings and was unable to put it back in, making a bit of a mess of my ear in the process! I returned only for some advice but had my ear cleaned and the earring put back in, free of charge. Fantastic staff and brilliant service! Cannot recommend enough. Thank you!

Fantastic experience: Absolutely amazing experience and quality if you’re looking for a walk-in tattoo. Erim was the one that did my tattoo, this was my first tattoo so I was quite nervous but he was brilliant talking me through everything and making sure it was perfect. Would highly recommend.

Negative experience: A couple of months ago me ,my daughter in law mother in law and sister all wanted a special tatoo for our very poorly littleboy who has lukemia. We went to Talisman for the first time and was met with a quite Rude man who was very abrupt . Anyway the Tatooist Irim turned up and we were all very pleased with him and his work. So we said to him can we book with you for the next one and he said yes as didn't want to deal with this very rude man again. So I booked with irim for today I travelled 20 miles and got to the studio to be told by the Same very rude man ,who I'm guessing is the owner or manager , that I wasn't booked in .His attitude was appalling!!! I explained I'd booked with the tatooist and the answer I got was " I don't care what you think he's booked out all day!! " .He was soooo Rude. I walked out I will Not be returning for anymore tatoos (not because of Irim I might add) or recommending any of my friends to go there either!!!!

Fantastic experience: Had my first tattoo this morning by Sam. I was quite nervous but the whole experience was amazing. Really chilled and relaxed space also very clean. The environment and methods he used were pretty hygienic and professional. I’m definitely getting some more later! :)

Fantastic experience: I had my Bridge and Septum peirced by Brett (@the_york_peircer) near the beginning of December 2022 and it was the best experience I've had with a peircer. I booked through Facebook the night before and Brett gave me information about the healing process, risks, and checking my anatomy to see if it was suitable for the peircings I wanted. I went in the next day and all the staff seemed really nice, Brett made me feel very comfortable throughout the entire process, pierced my deviated septum perfectly and gave me the Bridge peircing I'd wanted for a long time!!

Fantastic experience: I’ve had most of my piercings done by Brett and I can honestly say he’s the best! The atmosphere is great and certainly makes you feel very comfortable. Would recommend to anyone wanting a piercing!

Fantastic experience: Had my nose pierced with a stud last March and it’s healed perfectly, piercer made me feel very comfortable and I even got a sticker! Around 6 months in I knocked it and got a little lump, I contacted the piercer and he responded straight away to give me advice, lump was gone in around 4 days time. Really happy with the service provided and will definitely come again for future piercings

Fantastic experience: Over the years I’ve had all except my firsts (done at Claire’s) done by Brett and every single time he did an amazing job. Managed to make my wonky firsts look a little more even with my seconds and has also done my double helix and conch. He made me feel very at ease and came across with a professional attitude, also offering after care advice and answered any questions I had. Really recommend to anyone who comes to York!

Negative experience: Hi, I had a tattoo and two piercings done (nose & helix) - nose healed perfectly but helix never healed and is worse than ever currently with a large bump (presumably keloid) as I had to take it out a couple weeks ago due to the pain, the same aftercare was followed for both. I contacted several times (facebook/calling) regarding touching up the tattoo as it was faded shortly after (minimal exposure to sunlight) but never heard anything back.

Fantastic experience: I visited York not too long ago with my friend. We spent our first afternoon looking for a piercing place, as never visited before, used google to find the best. Checked out reviews and portfolios of the_york_piercer and that was it we'd chosen. We called up and immediately got an appointment booked in (there are also walk ins available too). We was greeted in a friendly manner and shown where to go. I then had the other side of my nose pierced while my friend had her tongue pierced. The gentleman was happy to answer all of the questions that we'd had and was super helpful and informative with aftercare etc. I then jokingly said I'd come back tomorrow to get my septum done. He then said I should go for it if I wanted too and that was it, I was booked in again. I've only ever had nose or ear piercings so he was happy to answer the questions I had and how it would feel differently, again all my questions got answered and within 10 minutes I was all done. This is the best place personally I recommend for any piercings. I didn't get the opportunity for a tattoo but I'm sure they are just as great. We spent a good hour looking online and especially us being tourists of this city we wanted to find the best and we absolutely did. All the staff are friendly and it was a pleasure to be pierced there!

Fantastic experience: I went in with a specific piercing in mind but after speaking to Brett a different piercing was recommended. Usually I’m not much of a spontaneous person but Brett created such a great environment that I trusted his judgement and he spoke me through what the different piercing would mean and allowed me complete freedom to choose what I thought. The process of getting the piercing itself was so quick and I am so pleased with the piercing now. Would highly recommend for the great environment, advice and honesty and such a friendly piercer!

Fantastic experience: I’ve had almost all of my piercings done here by Brett and, as the other reviews can corroborate, his work is one of a kind. He’s done my ears, both nostrils, both eyebrows, tongue, smilie, vertical labret twice and all times they’ve healed beautifully. I’ve got my piercings 3 per session each time and it’s pretty difficult to make that tolerable but he’s so efficient and helpful that it’s as easy as getting stabbed three times could possibly be :) Wouldn’t go to anyone else for piercings!

Fantastic experience: Came here today to get my seconds pierced. The procedure was quick and easy and hardly any pain. They gave me an aftercare sheet too so I know how to care for my piercing properly. I would come here again for any piercings in the future.

Fantastic experience: Just had my ear lobes pierced by Brett, and I couldn’t have asked for a better experience. Everything was so well explained, including the aftercare. I have a sizeable dislike of needles, so I was dreading it, but Brett completely put me at my ease, and I hardly even felt the needle. The piercings are spot on and look lovely, and I couldn't recommend this establishment and Brett more, he is amazing. If I ever want another piercing this will be the first place I come to! Fantastic experience: If you're wanting a piercing done right, go to Bret. I had all but my firsts on my lobes done with him (damn my 11 year old Claire's trip). He's quick, efficient, and friendly as anything. So far up to 9 piercings and I will be getting another from him soon. If I could give 6 stars I would!

Fantastic experience: I went in yesterday to get 4 piercings and I’ve never been happier. The piercer made sure I was okay through the entire appointment and was quick with all my piercings. He’s also really nice and professional! On top of that, the place is very clean and every member of the staff I talked to was super helpful. I don’t live in England, but have had all my piercings done at this studio and would 100% fly down again just to get another piercing here. Thank you for the awesome experience and piercings!

Fantastic experience: Had both nipples done on Friday and can confirm Brett may as well be a needle ninja. Put me at ease instantly, no fussing with the actual piercing and just cracked on. Compared to the first time I had my nipples done, it was a doddle! Genuinely barely noticed him doing them.

Fantastic experience: Visited Talisman yesterday for my 2nds and a 3rd ear piercings, my first since I was 12. I had planned to have my helix done at the same time but Brett recommended waiting a few weeks for the others to settle. I'd read other reviews saying it was painless and thought no chance, but it actually was! A slight pinch with the needle going through and a bit of tugging to get the jewellery in but not painful at all, and zero pain afterwards either! I was able to sleep on them the same night. Highly recommend Brett and will be back in a few weeks for that Helix!

Fantastic experience: Had some simple lobe piercings today and they were so welcoming and lovely. I mentioned I have type 1 diabetes as it was noted on the form and he took the time to explain more about how that can impact the healing process and even just chatted to me about whether I had an insulin pump and how my blood sugars were etc. The piercing was practically painless and took only a few minutes but it was such an easy experience made better by the lovely staff. 10/10!
