Negative experience: 2.5 grams of numbing cream sold to me---ZENSA brand--- didn't work at all. You gotta get the TKTX stuff!!! Had to cancel an upper back of thigh tattoo mid way!

Fantastic experience: I had a wonderful experience here, especially with my artist, Aisha, who was fantastic throughout the entire process. But I have to shout out Mitch, who was incredibly helpful, even though I walked in pretty late to the shop, and then helped me with scheduling. Anyways, Aisha was super communicative before getting my tattoo and helped me with designing it. She was great while I was getting tatted, and is an incredibly talented artist. Somehow, she managed to knock out my fairly large piece all in one session. Even though I'm not from Vancouver, I'll definitely be coming back to Pacific Rose and hopefully Aisha for my next tattoo.

Fantastic experience: Was in Vancouver visiting some family and got the itch to get a tattoo, more specifically start my back piece. After doing extensive research I ended up messaging Ezra at Pacific Rose, I must say they were swift with their replies and I came in for a consult the next day (was tight on time and Ezra pulled thru!), we chatted and talked about the design and booked in for the next day, showed up rested+fed and started the process. Overall, it took about 3 hours and I have been tattooed quite a few Times by different artists and I could tell Ezra cares very much about their work. With it being on my back I couldn’t really look at it but holy! When that was done I was in awe, truly a fantastic tattoo. I loved it so much that I am reserving my back for Ezra. If you’re in Van and looking for a stellar shop with some fantastic artist Pacific Rose is your stop ! **Will post a healed photo of my tiger tattoo later**

Negative experience: Tattoo artist charged me for filling out forms, prep time, and took 5-10 minute breaks every hour. Waited 40 minutes in the lobby and had to pay that as tattoo time. I arrived 2-3 minutes early. Would have been nice to know before hand. Asked for a unique design and they gave me the same design they do for every piece. Didn’t want to lose my deposit $400 so I just went with it and it was a big mistake. I tried telling the front staff and they just told me to deal with it.

Fantastic experience: My partner and I walked in to Pacific Rose and were met by a super friendly and helpful woman at the front desk. She quickly connected us with Curtis who was able to modify one of his flash pieces and tattoo both of us! Curtis was friendly, professional, and super talented. I would highly recommend getting tattooed by him.

Fantastic experience: I have multiple tattoos done by April which look just as good as the day I got them (some are years old). Her technique is super gentle which makes healing a breeze and sitting for longer tattoos much more bearable. She’s a super talented artist and overall lovely person to spend time with while dealing with the pain of getting tattooed (super attentive, reads the room for what you need during the session). Will definitely be back!

Mitch did a masterful job and didn’t charge me anything for his work. 10 years later the colour still is as sharp as the day he did it. I would highly recommend his work to anyone and everyone. Fantastic experience: Great place for tattoos! My girlfriend, our friend, and I were walk-ins and they were happy to accommodate us, and got us back super quick. My artist was Jota, and he was awesome and did great work! He was excited to do my piece and it came out looking great! The lines are clean and he got the color to go in pretty well, which is hard to do with me having darker skin. My girlfriend’s piece and our friends piece also look great and the prices were very reasonable. I definitely recommend this place if you’re looking to get a tattoo in Vancouver!

Negative experience: EDIT - OVER 5 YEARS LATER : my tiny tattoo still looks as crisp and beautiful as the day I got it done. So glad I decided to go elsewhere! --- oh wow, the attitude! I inquired about getting a tiny little symbol on my wrist. The receptionist told me that such a small tattoo will not age well, and that I need to give them a sketch of my design, etc. I explained, no, what I want is simply a tiny little symbol to remind me of a loved one who passed away, and I don’t care if it doesn’t age well, I’m doing this only for myself. She said in a very condescending tone “well our ARTISTS will refuse to do work that will not age well, the quality of their work is of utmost importance to them”. lol, welcome to Gastown. I’ll get my little tattoo elsewhere.

Negative experience: Terrible experience, I was double booked 2 times and she was late every-time (5 sessions in total) Ps I just booked with another tattoo shop to help fix the realism tattoo i got. estimated cost $800 thanks for a terrible tattoo.

Fantastic experience: Was my first time getting a walk in tattoo, one of the top experiences I’ve had in a tattoo shop. They had plenty of flash pieces available and made suggestions based on examples given if you couldn’t find a flash. Noah (@no_one_davis) had time and got to work right away. Fantastic experience: Have been here a few times to get work done from Miguel, by far the best shop around! I make the one hour commute to come out here as you can ask these artists for honest opinions and they will give it to you. Awesome too see people in the industry that aren’t just in it for the money, rather express there talents and make others happy! Incredible art work, great pricing and not to mention how cool the building setup is! Will be coming here as long as Miguel and the guys are around :)

Fantastic experience: Went to Pacific Rose tattoo with my sisters today and we had a great experience from the time we checked in up until we left the place. Our tattoo artist Noah was fantastic! The designs we wanted were simple but since we have not gotten tattoos done in the recent times, we had many questions. Fantastic experience: Got my first large tattoo with Frank Grimes back in 2012 when it was GT and the work is of very high caliber. In general the staff at the parlour are professional, friendly and down to earth. This probably goes without saying since the place has a good reputation, but very clean and sanitary. I also liked that there was no hard sell for post-care products. My second tattoo in 2016 was even better! The artist worked on a complimentary style to the first as the piece was on the same arm and she offered a lot of wonderful suggestions. I get the feeling that the people at this studio are more interested in doing quality work that represents them artistically than raking in money. Thanks Pacific Rose.

Fantastic experience: Olivia is a gifted artist. After a brief discussion about what I was hoping for, she drew a freehand design on my arm that was perfect, and then began the tattoo. The finished product is better than I could have hoped, and I am thrilled that it is mine. I could not recommend her or the studio more highly; it is a clean, professional space in which I felt very comfortable. Because of the high demand for Olivia's work, I waited several months before I was able to schedule my appointment with her, but it was well worth the wait.

Fantastic experience: Brilliant! Can't recommend them highly enough. We booked from Australia with very limited time and they were wonderful. Great communication and service. Our artist was really sweet and understanding and we are very happy with our little reminders of Canada.

Negative experience: Very mixed walk-in experiences. My girlfriend had some coordinates tattoed onto her incorrectly (a 9 instead of an 8) and then when she went back to try and get it rectified, the artist incorrectly altered two different 9s to 8s (so now there is an 8 where a 9 should be) with no pathway to fix this now without removal or a cover-up. However, I had an amazing experience with Keegan (who was not responsible for the above mishap) and could not recommend him enough. He was careful, was responsive to requests which made the tattoo better, and did great work. Ask for Keegan if you go here :)

Fantastic experience: I visited the studio when I visited Vancouver during my honeymoon and wanted to get a special souvenir for me. This day Sage were there as a guest artist and what can I say? The was awesome! Very kind, very nice and very talented. I love my new tattoo ! Thanks for this ! The studio itself was very clean and I loved the whole vibe of it ! Everyone was so nice and if I could , I would give you all more than five stars !

Negative experience: My boyfriend and I saw Josh while visiting from out of town. I had beforehand requested an artist with experience tattooing on coloured skin as my boyfriend is dark skinned and has experienced scarring from previous tattoo artists. We decided to place our tattoos behind our ears and were told we’d be charged extra for that placement… first red flag. After the appointment Josh poorly slapped on bandages and sent us on our way. We kept the bandages on as long as possible but due to the way they were put on they fell off by the end of the day. (Should’ve used second skin) we continued with usual aftercare as were both covered in ink and this isn’t our first time. Now about 2 weeks later my boyfriends new tattoo is scarred and bumpy. Overall unprofessional and clearly inexperienced in tattooing coloured skin. I do not recommend him to anyone looking for a walk in or even in general..

Fantastic experience: I went to pacific rose tattoo with a an idea I wanted to commemorate my late sister. I only had a rough idea of what I wanted. Josh helped me with the design on the spot and even mixed in some of her ashes for me. It was an emotional experience for me and Josh really helped me through it. I couldn’t be more happy with the results. Josh helped make the memory of my sister last a lifetime. I’m Very greatfull for the experience and will certainly go back for other work to be done.

Positive experience: Clean overall. The artist was on a mood and looked like he rushed the process resulting in some wonky lines, 120 bucks for a rushed tattoo is not the best experience that I’ve got.

Fantastic experience: I got a tattoo here once in 2019 and then also yesterday (2022)! I can't say enough great things about this studio. Everyone is super welcoming, helpful, and happy to make it a pleasant experience. My artist yesterday was Keegan and we had quite a long session so that can tend to be not pleasant physically on the body, however, he was SO nice, helpful, and had a very calm energy that made the whole experience amazing! I have a bunch of tattoos and I always appreciate artists like that who bring a calm energy since sometimes I get nervous also the people working at the desk and the other artists there were very friendly and conversational. In terms of artwork, they all do a fantastic job and there's a wide variety of skillsets/styles amongst the artists. If I heard them correctly they have around 12 or more artists that work there so there's many to choose from - check them out on Instagram! Thanks Pacific Rose Tattoo!

Negative experience: I had tried to get in with one of their artists for over a year, but I would never get any response back. And after a year I finally get an appointment, and they cancelled on the day of! Boo, hissss! Onto the next fabulous tattoo artist, which Vancouver is full of, and that are totally inclusive and customer driven.

Fantastic experience: Got a same day tattoo here in June for my 30th birthday. Was able to get in within a few hours, the artist knocked my drawing out of the park. The tattoo healed beautifully and looks great. So glad I was able to get in while visiting Vancouver. Thank you Jota!

Fantastic experience: Had 4 tattoo removal sessions here and it was wonderful. They were super knowledgeable and thorough with it. Highly recommend this place for removals of any kind.

Negative experience: Just noticed the brand change up. PACIFIC ROSE, nice name. It's odd to drop such a well branded business with the location in its name though. Word on the street is it is some sort of rebuke to Gassy Jack, a historical figure tied to the neighborhood. Virtue signaling the shop owners guilt and essentially saying "shame on this neighborhood for once having a bad apple in its confines" This shop has been fairly communist minded, so it's not a shock to see them engaging in Marxist shaming of local history. Some excellent tattoos come out of this shop, it is one of Canada's best places for quality tattoos. Unfortunately, it won't be long before they won't tattoo sailing ships because they represent colonialism, before they ban any native headdress or dreamcatcher symbolism unless they are delegated to the token Indian on staff. Won't be long before the commie minded people in charge insist that tattoo machines are powered by wind turbines, that all their supplies are bought through a local Indian band, and all staff are guilted in to giving up their cars because "climate change" Maybe it's time to take the street address off and only use historically native ways of describing their location. No more traditional tattoos because they represent a culture of patriarchy misogyny and colonialism? You know Sailor Jerry chased the skirts around like a bad boy.. cancel traditional tattoos! No more Motorcycles parked out front of the shop.. greenhouse gasses and all.. no more Harleys. Because America is evil? May as well just close up shop.. too many virtue violations. Response to the owner. Maybe your anger masked that I said this was one of the best places to get a tattoo. Not bringing anyone down, just surprised at the empty virtue signaling. Of course I shouldn't be surprised, but I am. Bumping this from 3 stars to two since the owner feels like attacking a rational critique with unwarrented personal attacks. You'd think the Marxist Communist owners would appreciate the suggestions. They fit in line with that political and social ideology. Odd that the shop "identifies" being in Vancouver. George Vancouver was a straight white male.. surely yall can dig up something boycott'able on that guy and make the change to your location description.

Fantastic experience: I saw Jordan Frank for a cover up at Gastown Tattoo parlour and left in shock. He did an AMAZING job. Not only did he cover up a part of my sleeve but he blended it perfectly back into it. He cause ZERO scar tissue which is a common thing with tattoo artists. He has a nice light touch. He makes you feel comfortable right away and the vibe was awesome. Highly recommend going to him.

She took the time to make sure I was comfortable at every step in the process, and really listened to what I was asking for. The day started out stressful and she immediately put me at ease, and made sure I could just focus on being tattooed. Miko was also incredibly kind during my time there, helping me over the phone and in person, and even offering me their food when I needed a snack. Everyone went above and beyond, and I couldn't be more thrilled with how my tattoo turned out. I'd recommend everyone come here!

Negative experience: Don't get tattooed here. My tattooer was late and left a window open even though it was winter. I was freezing cold during my appointment, and he was rude to me the entire time. It took twice as long as he estimated so I paid twice as much as I budgeted for. This was my worst ever experience at a tattoo shop.

Fantastic experience: Super friendly staff! I got to spend 50 minutes trying to get out of a dark room. The puzzles were well thought out and honestly, it was the most fun I've had in a while! Will definitely be back!

Fantastic experience: Got some tattoos from Moloch (@elijotamoloch) earlier this year and I've got to say, they were some heavvyy black tats in some spicy spots (stomach and upper rib cage, yet they healed up incredibly well. No scarring, no bleed outs. His experience in tattooing is evident. Refreshing to see such a talented and humble artist open to collaborate on ideas. Grateful to have lined those pieces up with him. Shoutout to the apprentice at the time Josh for some solid customer service from the get go, who is now killing it with the tats that I see on instagram. Originally was just going to get the one tat but first experience went so smoothly I lined up a 2nd within 2 weeks after. Saw Mitch the owner, walking around as well during the day bopping his head in and giving some good vibes to the artists/clients. Sick to see some affective and supportive leadership being exercised at this shop. Its evident in its reputation in the tattoo game. wicked shop

Fantastic experience: Olivia @olivialoutattoos started my leg piece and I cannot say enough good things about my experience! She drew it on all by hand, and checked in with me the whole time to make sure I absolutely loved it. She let me have full control over breaks, when to stop, etc. and when she could tell I was having a hard time she gave me juice-boxes and encouraged me! She is such a talented artist and just an overall lovely person. My tattoo already looks absolutely stunning and I can't wait to finish this piece with her.

Positive experience: This isnt a recent experience - rather, happened around 2 years ago, but since I still am quiet afraid of going through the same experience, I must add this review. I'm giving 3 starts because the technology used was good and the professionals know what they are doing. If that was all that came into count, I'd likely give 5 stars. However, as a customer, I must say my experience wasnt pleasant. I booked a tattoo removal session and got there 5-10minutes (not more nor less) late, and they said they'd have to rebook me. Thats fine, even though I believe they could have given me a the session anyways since some things that we dont control may happen such as transit, etc, I was the wrong one here so cant really complain. So I rebooked and here its when it all started. First, I asked for wifi since I was there waiting. Clearly they had wifi there, but were not willing to share it with me so ok, may be rules. So I waited a bit - more then they waited for me when I was a bit late - and went for my session. Here there is nothing to complain about - they are professionals at what they do. When it all finished tho, I was asked by the guy who was at the cashier to pay for a tip. Now, I paid over 130$ ish for a 10minute session, didnt even have the wifi password shareed with me, and see really no reason why I should tip. I said I wasnt going to tip - you must understand the service is already expensive - and he gave me suuuch a bad eye that I truly felt pretty embarrassed. Maybe it wont sound like much, but it did indeed make me not go back for I was afraid of having even worse customer experience simply for not paying the tip. So well, to sum it up, they have really good professionals and definitely really good equipment there, and I'd say so both for tattoo removing and actually doing tattoos with good artists; however, my experience as a customer made me afraid of going back and keeping on with my removal.

Fantastic experience: Had a Tattoo today with Amanda and it was incredible! Blown away by the skill and attention to detail that was put into the piece. It was a pencil sketch linework type design and the line weights and sensibilities of the reference drawing was translated perfectly. Still in awe. Couldn't be happier, the actual shop itself is very clean and professional as well, very comfy. I would recommend the shop to anyone.
