Fantastic experience: If you want an amazing tattoo experience with a legend then Jake is your guy! I was in Cairns on holiday and walked into the tattoo studio late to see if they could fit me in whilst on holiday. Jake fitted me in straight away. I showed him what I was sort of wanting and he drew up an amazing stencil in no time. He was vibrant and the conversation flowed so easy. His tattooing skills are next level, I wish I lived closer to get more done!

But Royal Blue Tattoo is different, they get it. Tattoos are a luxury and a permanent choice, and the team treats it with the care and respect it deserves. I worked with Zarra (now back on the Gold Coast) who helped me get through the bulk of my leg work, she was fantastic, and I’m grateful for how comfortable and welcome I felt. Jake and his team are the real deal, professional, down-to-earth, and clearly take pride in what they do. The whole place is a vibe, and you can tell it’s built on passion and integrity. If you’re after quality work in a space where you’re treated like a person, not a transaction, this is the shop to go to.

Edit 2025 - recently got my second peice from the one and only Zuzzy and holy. Couldn’t have executed a better peice to start off my blank arm! Got me so keen to keep collecting. These guys arnt just artists and tattooist, they are good friends that have so much pride in their work and shop!!

The shop is spotless and the decorations is very nice, Zuzz is an amazing artist, really listening to its customer's demands and very cool to talk with. I barely noticed that 2 hours had passed and that my tatoo was done. If you're looking for a good artist for a first tatoo, Zuzz might be the one you're looking for. Anyway 5/5 one of my best tatoo experience so far.

I came in for a consult with Jake, he took a photo of my arm and asked a few questions and ideas. Jake drew a custom half sleeve with my ideas and tattooed me with 6ish hours hassle free. Fantastic experience: I have been tattooed here a few times and I keep coming back because of how welcoming and friendly the artists are and their genuine passion for art and tattooing. They treat their clients with respect and remember who you are. Every peace you get here is unique and costume made not a copy of a drawing from the internet. I have been tattooed other places and no where else feels as genuine and welcoming as here. It is a Traditional tattoo style shop so might not be for everyone but if that’s what you are looking for I highly recommend all artists here!

Fantastic experience: Got two tattoos here done by Matt who was a guest artist. Genuinely one of the best and chillest sessions I’ve had done before. I’d come back here simply to check out all the cool art, photos and designs they have up in the studio, it’s completely decked out and looks epic. Jake the owner here is super kind and laid back and also has awesome work, excited to get tatted by him in the future.

Fantastic experience: I first met Jake at a convention in Singapore, and he had some amazing artworks and flash. I didn't manage to get anything from him the first time we met but since I was in Cairns for the Great Barrier Reef, I stopped by to say hi. It's only one of the coolest and most welcoming parlours I've ever been in. I got inked by Zuzzy while my mate got something from Jake. You're in safe hands with both! The whole experience has been incredibly professional, comfortable and personal. The shop and facilities are super clean with slick signage, tons of awesome flash to look at while you’re on the table, and easy parking right out the front (even for my tall van).
