Expérience négative: My experience with Steel n Ink (Polo Park) Abought a month and a half ago, I went in to get my helix and anti-tragus pierced. It was around $200, which was fine, and everything seemed to go well during my appointment. However, I did notice that the jewelry for my helix was very long, while my anti-tragus jewelry fit just right. Three weeks after the initial piercing, I started to notice a small irritation bump, but I brushed it off since a small bump didn’t seem too bad. Over the next two days, I noticed that the bump was getting fairly large and the jewelry was starting to embed into my ear. I decided to go back to the piercing shop the following morning. When I got there, I asked the employees for help. Two of them looked at my ear, made a very concerned face, and made an “ew” sound. One of them, who happened to be the piercer on staff that day, grabbed my ear lobe with her bare hands. They then proceeded to tell me that they couldn’t help me and that I had to go across the city to find the piercer who initially pierced me. I explained that I didn’t have a car and that taking a bus in -30 weather wouldn’t be suitable, especially since I was already at a piercing shop and needed something as minor as just getting a bigger bar put in. Despite this, they still told me to just send a DM to my initial piercer on Instagram. They also said my piercer only worked at the Polo Park location every so often. Once I left the shop, I had a bad gut feeling, so I phoned another piercing shop, who got me in by appointment the next day. At this new piercing shop, the piercer who was taking care of me looked at my ear with a concerned face, as the jewelry was halfway embedded into my ear. The piercer told me she thought the anti-tragus piercing was pierced far too deep. She said the jewelry bar should have been long enough to accommodate healing (if pierced correctly) . The piercer then brought in a second piercer for a second opinion, and she also agreed that it was pierced too deep and that I had to take the jewelry out and let it heal up. Once she took the jewelry out, it was evident how swollen my ear was, how large the bump was, and how bruised it was. My ear was blue. By the end of the week, the jewelry would have fully embedded into my ear. The next day, I went back to Steel n Ink to tell them about what happened, and they basically just told me to email the head office and that they would answer me by 2 p.m. the next day. I asked for a refund, but they said they couldn’t handle that since they just worked there. I ended up sending an email explaining my experience. The staff also mentioned how my ear “wasn’t that bad” when I went in asking for help that day. 2 p.m. the next day rolled around, and I still hadn’t heard anything. I called the shop back, and after they told me the girl I was supposed to talk to was on break and that she would call me back soon, she eventually called and told me the head office still hadn’t talked to her yet, so it would take an additional 48 hours. Once I finally received a reply to my email, all the email responses summed up said that Steel n Ink was sorry for how I felt, but that the jewelry they pierced me with was industry standard and that it was out of their responsibility how an individual heals piercings. They offered to give me a free re-pierce with another piercer. They never acknowledged anything about how I was turned away when I went back asking for help. I told them I wasn’t comfortable getting a re-pierce, since I was sent away by the staff when I asked for help—staff who were also piercers at the shop. I was also quoted roughly half a year at least before I could get a re-pierce on my anti-tragus. Their final email stated that they hoped I could trust them again one day and come back. I didn’t get a refund or a sincere apology for the way I was treated. This was a post I made on Reddit. I've copied and pasted it for this review.

Expérience négative: If you’re going there for septum piercings, I would Not suggest Atlantes. Giving the benefit of the doubt here but she didn’t take as much time on my septum as she did on my brother’s lobe piercings the whole process of piercing us took less than 20 minutes, not bad time wise but I would’ve appreciated them taking more time to line my piercing up. My brother’s came out fine but mine took way less time and came out crooked….. not the best experience honestly.

Expérience fantastique: Got my nose and belly button done, she was soo nice and felt very comfortable with her, she was fast and clean and clear on what to do, I would definitely recommend coming here, I wish I got her name but very nice and clean place, front desk lady was nice and friendly as well, definitely coming back to get another one

Expérience négative: It’s impressive how a business can enforce a strict 48-hour cancellation policy for clients, yet feel completely comfortable cancelling on a customer the day of their appointment due to their own double booking. As someone who is not from the city and made arrangements specifically for this appointment, this was more than an inconvenience — it was a complete disregard for my time and effort. What’s particularly disappointing is that instead of taking accountability in a meaningful way or attempting to remedy the situation (perhaps by accommodating me rather than defaulting to cancelling my appointment), the burden was placed on me to “figure it out.” It’s interesting how policies seem to apply strictly in one direction. Mistakes happen — professionalism is measured by how they’re handled. In this case, the handling was careless, dismissive, and far below what one would expect from a reputable business. Unfortunately, this experience has ensured I will not be returning.

Expérience fantastique: Jesse is absolutely the best artist that I’ve ever interacted with. He sincerely listened to, and heard my ideas for my dream tattoo! He created the most breathtaking piece of artwork, uniquely mine. He is patient, gentle, very kind, calming, and incredibly talented. His knowledge and abilities surpassed my expectations!! I appreciated his expert feedback and insight; and enjoyed the ease of communication which ensured a smooth process. Erika took my first phone call and advised the most appropriate artist for me. She was very helpful. All the staff I encountered were very friendly.

Expérience fantastique: Jesse did my first rib tattoo. I got portrait of my dogs face. He did great work and looks just like her. I would go back for future work. Happy with the work I got.

Expérience négative: I went to get a helix piercing early this year, i discovered a few days ago that it’s not oriented for a hoop. Before the girl pierced me, I showed her a picture for reference and told her I wanted to be able to out a hoop earring, but she still did it wrong. Now if I ever put a hoop it’s going to look bad. I’ll add the picture of what i got vs what i asked for, the back of the earring should not be visible.

Expérience fantastique: Jesse was able to get me in immediately for a flash tattoo after walking into the shop. He was incredibly kind, funny, and supportive for the duration of my visit. Jesse’s work absolutely speaks for itself and I am beyond happy with my new tattoo! I will definitely come back to Jesse the next time I am in the area!

Expérience négative: If you’re looking for a simple and affordable ear piercing, save your time and money and get it done at Claire’s or somewhere else, which is honestly what I should have done. Came in under the impression that piercing service cost $40 (the only cost stated on their website by the way!) but as I found out it would cost you no less than $120+ total because well you can’t get a piercing without buying earrings from them. And the $40 is actually “waived” when you purchase the earrings anyways so what’s the point of having it there in the first place? And for the price the collection was utterly lacklustre, the items looked cheap and what was most disappointing was the staffs lacklustre service which made me feel quite unwelcome during our interaction (the piercing artist was quite pleasant though). Other shops will probably ask you to get earrings from them as well, but at least when I got mine done at Claire’s their collection was better and cheaper and it would probably cost you $20-$40 less when it’s all said and done. So yeah just something to keep in mind when choosing where to get your piercing.

Expérience fantastique: I did a walk in during black friday and got a lobe piercing. Lee was so kind, patient and sweet! This was my first time getting a piercing done and I was so scared but Lee’s professionalism and good energy made the entire process seamless! Thank you Lee! Would def come back for more!!!!

But Lee was so good…she took the time to answer my questions and explain in such a way to put my mind at ease. Also she pierced super quick and effortlessly that after the initial sharp pinch of the needle going through, I had no discomfort and can’t even feel its there! I was so impressed, and definitely recommend this place! And Lee as well!!

Expérience fantastique: Had my daughter's ears pierced here for her birthday a couple of days ago. Great experience for all, the studio is spotless and calming atmosphere. She got to pick out her earrings, and the piercings were done by Lee, who was so sweet and kind with her. My daughter is already planning her future piercings. I would recommend!

Expérience négative: I asked for a navel piercing and the piercer gave me a surface piercing. A week after , I went back and saw the same person, I explained that it seemed too swollen and I also pointed out that it appears not to be in the navel. She told me that it was still healing and to wait. I really WAITED, but 5 months later it was not healing and was rejecting despite cleaning it everyday. I decided to go back and requested a removal. It was a different person at the counter - when she looked at it she told me that it was very infected and needed to be taken out immediately. I left me with a scar/keloid that will likely never heal or go away. I received no refund too. I would not recommend !

Expérience fantastique: Steelnink has always been my favorite to come too. They always have great apprentices learning under their other piercers!!! First was Atlantes who pierced me and now it is Jessie who is learning under her. Both the nicest women. With that information, I got my daith done by Jessie, she made me laugh, made me feel super comfortable and talked me through the whole process before putting the needle to my ear. The outcome was super quick and professional. I was told I am only paying for jewelry and not the service fee. Expérience fantastique: *updated as I now have had 3 piercings here* Came here in summer for tragus piercing, came back later after a perfect heal for a downsize and two more piercings. Everything was very sterile and clean and I’m always happy to see piercing shops carry high quality brands that will only sell to reputable piercers. The booking process is really simple in store or online and Leesha is one of the most approachable piercers I've ever met. The piercings were quick and done perfectly every time. They have great deals every week on Sundays and Wednesdays - make sure you book well in advance! They also have online waivers to speed up your time in the shop on the day of your appointment and a great rewards program. I recommend this shop to everyone and after nearly two decades of getting pierced I'm happy as heck to have a regular place to go to!

Expérience fantastique: The attention to customer service was amazing. They took the time to answer all my questions no matter how simple or complex. There was no upselling or pressure and because of this I have become a repeat customer also bringing my daughter and friends in for piercing and tattoos. They treated them with as much respect and kindness as they did me.

Expérience fantastique: Juli is a kind and gentle tattoo artist. She helps to achieve the tattoo or tattoos you want. I really enjoyed the tattoos I got today. There is a film of second skin to protect it for the next couple of days.

Expérience positive: I had a great experience there and loved the piercer, however my lip ring fell out 4 hours later and was unable to put it back in. Not sure if this is shoddy work or jewelry which I paid 60$ for a total of 125.30. I re read the contract and no refund policy so I guess I’m hooped.. too bad :(

Expérience fantastique: Was very nervous, came in about 50 min prior to close for a piercing and the whole process was super smooth and totally put my mind at ease. Very happy with my piercing and everyone was super lovely and made my experience 10x better!

Expérience fantastique: I just wanna take the time to say thank you to the entire team here at the Polo Park Steel N Ink for not only your bravery, and your courage for dealing with an unruly customer who thought it was their “right” to not only put their hands near one of the employees faces while screaming and belittle the employee(s) and threatening to call the cops for “racial discrimination” (which did not seem to be the case) mainly to justify their behaviour because their child did not bring their ID card and taking their anger out on employees of this beautiful establishment which I will also like to mention, was completely unnecessary and considered bullying and harassment. To the parents who thought this behaviour was acceptable PLEASE. DO. BETTER! As a person who happened to be bystander to this horrific behaviour from the hallway and was wondering what the heck was going on, You as a parent NEED TO DO BETTER!!! As a fellow customer of this beautiful establishment I always enjoy coming here because of how wonderfully friendly the staff are to ALL their customers but they do fabulous work from both tattoo’s and piercings. I’ve had two ear piercings and a tattoo from here! Thanks Juli, Atlantes & Lee Will be recommending all my family and friends to come here for either service. 11/10 experience every time! ❤️

Expérience négative: My son was asked to return today from a few days ago. Over past few weeks his pierce and ring broke due to poor or defective product. While we were at food court he told us that a female employee did not accept his ID for product repair and service. Keep in mind we have the original receipt from early June, and they know him by face & security camera, that he is age 19… yet they continued with denial or refusal of service and product. The original product/service cost him/us close to $300. One of the parents went back to question the refusal to accept ID, as well as request a replacement and service, of a poor product & poor or lack of customer value and service. The employee(s) refused to hear the grievance, were confrontative, and felt entitled to have security involved when they were told proper customer service and policy. I would advise minorities, especially indigenous people, to be leary and assertive with the behaviour, actions, and insensitivity of the employees associated at this location and company. We the parents feel and know that we are owed and apology, a refund on product, and a better (or an attempt) at customer service. We do not recommend this location due to our horrendous experience. It was also traumatic to the parents and our son.

Expérience négative: Had a great experience with getting my Medusa done, except when I went to get the jewelry changed 4 weeks later (it was too early) The one lady said it was periced at an angle when it's supposed to be straight. I'm quite frustrated as I spent a decent amount of money getting this done and I don't want to take it out.

She informed me that my piercing was slightly crooked which is why it wasn’t sitting properly before. It was quick and easy and she offered to change it to a ring and fix it later if I wanted. Expérience négative: i got piercings here done before (2 years ago-still arnt healed, could be my fault but i also have 17 piercings and it’s my only one not healed lol) but everyone was nice. so i thought id come back for a ashley (inverted vertical labret) and they said my lips were too small… hurt quite a bit but thats life lol… so i thought. booked w another place to get a second opinion cuz ive waited 3 years for this peircing… they said my lips were well big enough and were so sad to hear i had that experience… got it done a week ago at studio 431 and honestly the best experience (and cheaper) … exceeded my expectations and my lip is basically healed within this week, easy to contact them on ig too... just all around i found my grove with them and made my friends wanna book w them too when they heard the price and how good my lip looked. so i suggest to always getting a second opinion on things :)) no hate to steel and ink at all- the staff is nice just not my grove and that’s perfectly okay!

Expérience négative: My friend got belly button piercing a year ago. I got it check with 2 different people they said it was done wrong. Went to the store and they didn’t own up at all. I have heard other bad stories too. Do not recommend this place AT ALL.

Expérience fantastique: Recently got three new piercings here in early December, I am loving them! Left eyebrow and two helix piercings on my left ear. In 2022 I also got my lobes done here so I knew I could rely on Steel n Ink again. Service was excellent and all the staff was very patient/empathetic with me, as I did have a small panic attack right before the last piercing was done I still had a great experience overall and almost a month later I am still loving the new look! Might have to come back again for more...

Expérience négative: Do not get piercings here, I’ve heard horror stories from so many mall employees, from nose piercings (putting in a hoop right away with a hinge!!) to industrials to helix piercings. Do not pierce here

Expérience fantastique: Couldn't be happier with everything. I got 2nd and 3rd lobe piercings, and my naval was done all in one appointment. I had previously had my naval done, and it hurt the first time, which I'd done elsewhere, but this was so easy. My piercer made me feel very at ease and did a perfect job explaining everything to me. Plus, the jewelry selection was amazing. I love the purple opal naval piercing it's the best

Expérience fantastique: I visited Steel N Ink Polo Park a couple of weekends ago. It was very clean and organized. The receptionist and piercer (Atlantes) were very patient while we sorted out the consent forms between me and my daughter. I had my nose done. It went very quickly! Atlantes was also quite patient when it came time for my daughter to get her ears done. She didn't go through with it and again, Atlantes was so kind and understanding. She let me pick out a different set of earrings for myself and ended up piercing my ears instead. It was great service and a very positive experience all around!

Expérience positive: I got piercings done here and developed a keloid on one. I'm not strictly blaming the piercer but I was given little to no aftercare advice; only to saline rinse for 2 weeks and that I could change the studs out after (in fact, I couldn't because the piercings weren't healed yet). She didn't say how long the healing process actually is, to be careful during this time, etc... Unfortunately getting new piercings was a birthday present to me and now I have an ugly bump on my ear.

Expérience fantastique: Had an excellent first time experience with Juli. She was an absolute all-star for the entire appointment and would definitely come back.

Expérience négative: Got my septum pierced on December 4th. Piercer didn’t use a clamp. I felt the needle go through and I knew that it was extremely crooked the first time they did it. The piercer asked if she could do it again, I had no issue with it, so she re-pierced it. I allowed an apprentice to be in the room throughout the whole thing; I heard them ask the person doing my piercing if they wanted a new needle, to which they responded that they already had one- i’m not sure if they reused the old needle or not. 6 days of healing later I had to take it out because it was still crooked and poorly placed. *I didn’t receive any type of discount at the store for having to be pierced twice.- to be honest i’d have no issue with it if it wasn’t for the piercing still being crooked.*

Expérience fantastique: Got my ears done by Emery and to be honest this is the first time out of 6 times that I've had my ears pierced and they didnt get infected and they havent closed on me. I hope to get my nose pierced by them.

Expérience négative: Got my second and third holes pierced in my ears. I can’t remember the name of the woman that did them but two of them she did on an angle so they sat funny in my ear. I ended up just removing them because they looked silly. Spend the extra couple of bucks and go to a better piercing/tattoo shop that’s not in a mall.

Expérience fantastique: Super helpful and friendly staff, very patient with my 7yo getting ear piercings. Very clean and comfortable environment.

Expérience fantastique: seriously cannottt recommend this place enough, i’ve been converted into a regular!! i saw lee for both my vertical labret and nose piercing and i’ve been obsessed with them (and her) ever since :^) aside from being the best to chat with, she’s extremely sweet and knowledgeable at what she does, and the piercings were quick and painless with minimal time to heal and amazing results!! all the front staff are lovely and friendly, and i’ll continue to support steel n ink until ive run out of spots to pierce HAHA <3

Expérience négative: I recently got my first tattoo here, i had it done by ryan. not to criticism him but he wasnt very friendly and didnt explain the process. It was a simple tattoo, a word on my wrist. i made him go over it a secend time to fix some mistakes i notice right away, days later after it healed abit ive noticed some other simple mistakes. just seems like a lack of care and attention to the detail. i am now going to be spending to get it fixed somwhere else, im pretty disappointed. This is my first tattoo and these mistakes and lack of care/attention for detail are permanent. im dissapointed and dont recommend.

Expérience fantastique: I came in for my first Tattoo. Nate was very friendly, awesome, he explained how long the procedure would be, very careful with drawing on my arm. Healing process was great. Love my Tattoo.

Expérience fantastique: Erika was so kind and patient with my child's first piercing! Piercing was done in a private room, and she explained everything she was doing all the way through the process. We never felt rushed, and we were even offered a drink to help with recovery. Clean and professional facility, and the results are gorgeous. Healing was quick and without any complications. Highly recommend.

Expérience fantastique: I had Lee pierce my navel and she did a very good job! She was so kind and even calmed me down when I mentioned that I was nervous for the piercing. My piercing has healed nicely and no infections at all. Lee was happy to answer all my questions and provided information on the aftercare of the piercing.

Expérience fantastique: I took my 10 year old daughter and her friend to get their ears pierced and Erika was so good with them and very patient and encouraging when one was dealing with nervousness. They're both very happy with their piercings!

She was professional and knowledgeable as she applied my tattoo. She even went the extra mile and touched up an old one I had. I highly recommend Steel N Ink Polo Park. (Still healing)

Expérience négative: Typical franchise. Front staff talk bad about everyone (yes even you) I guess it's a plus that they wait until people's backs are turned lol. Some are friendly and cool, others not so much, can be very phony. This locations a TINY bit better than the other.

Expérience fantastique: I was looking to have a tattoo finished and I happened to make a consultation appointment at Steel N Ink Polo Park. I met with Edreen and he was great, discussed the tattoo I wanted and made me feel comfortable and confident in trusting him for my tattoo. Since then I’ve gotten a few tattoos by Dren and have received many compliments on Dren’s work. The staff are very friendly and welcoming whenever I come in. I would definitely recommend Steel N Ink Polo Park. I have not received a piercing but I have purchased jewelry. I always leave satisfied with the quality and service I receive. Expérience fantastique: If you want the experience of being pierced by a friend but you don’t trust your friends … go see Lee ! She did some re piercing for me and all has healed well despite previous scarring.

Expérience fantastique: This was the best piercing experience I've ever had! Leesha was my piercer and she was very knowledgeable, an amazing bubbly personality, and very efficient. The studio was very clean and she went through every step with me and made sure I was comfortable. I will definitely be coming back again to get pierced by leesha!!

Expérience négative: Got my nose pierced here it was great, got my naval done thought it was great too but after going to a different tattoo/piercing place to get different jewelry thinking it never healed properly because I do have issues with some jewelry only to be told “ oh my god you need to take that out who did that? Its not done properly and that will never actually heal “ Didn’t feel too great. Was told to give it at least 3 months to heal/close up and come back to see if I even have the anatomy to do a Naval piercing. Rather disappointed now.

Expérience fantastique: Saw Lee today and got a second piercing in each of my ears. Amazing experience. Quick and pain free. Lee was friendly and knowledgeable. Front counter staff was very friendly, efficient and knowledgeable as well!

Expérience négative: I recently got my jewelry piercings replaced at steel n ink. The process was alright aside from their lack of good customer service. I noticed that they all seemed stand off ish and weren’t nice. As a person who works retail I know what good customer service is like, so going into steel n ink I was disappointed. I felt uncomfortable asking questions because it felt like I was just bothering the employees by existing around them. Please work on your customer service because I enjoy coming in for piercing appointments. If it is still not improved next time I visit, I plan to stop going and look somewhere else when getting piercings.
