Expérience fantastique: I’ve been to next for both a piercing change and tattoo! They’re probably one of the friendliest, if not the friendliest, tattoo and piercing shops I ever been to. Lex was so funny when she tattooed me today and Eann was really thorough when he did my piercing change back in November! While it is bittersweet that Next is closing in August, I highly recommend going before then! Thank you guys so much!

Expérience positive: ill start by saying that the actual piercing was clean and well done and the staff were very friendly. what i was disappointed about was when I had to go back to the shop to get one of my lobe ear piercings loosened because it was initially put on too tight to take out (i tried many times), i was charged a ten dollar service fee for just getting it loosened. again, good place to get piercings done but wouldn't go back.

It is a very clean and sterile place. Not far from the skytrain either. I had my nose pierced there twice and I thought everyone there was very kind, professional and friendly. They are happy to share informative advice and very responsible. I've had three good experiences so far and I can't think of anything negative.

Expérience fantastique: I got a tattoo with Lexi and two piercings with Grantham and my experience was amazing. It’s such a welcoming environment, every artist there was friendly and talkative which was nice. I got a small piece on my arm so it went by fairly quickly but I kinda wish I could stay longer lol. Lexi is awesome, I left there feeling like we were best friends. I made the impulsive decision to pierce my nips while I was there, and Grantham graciously made time for me even though I didn’t have an appointment. It’s a vulnerable piercing so it’s important to be comfortable. They made me feel as comfortable as i possibly could be without having my shirt fully on lol. That took probably 10 minutes, they made sure I was fully happy with my placement, and measured me to make sure it was symmetrical. The piercing was quick and I was very happy with it. That was 4 months ago. The healing was very easy. Tattoo healed beautifully, it’s my first one so I don’t really know what else to say about it. The piercings were super easy healing too. Technically they aren’t healed for a year, so I’m still careful with those. After a week I had no blood, and after 3 weeks no crusties or pus. Almost painless healing process too. I’ve heard a lot of horror stories about nip piercings, but mine could not have gone better. I am 100% going back for more piercings and maybe another tattoo :) thank you guys <3

Expérience fantastique: Next! came highly recommended by friends, and not for nothing. I've had work done now by Eann and Grantham and they are both some of the loveliest people you could ask for. Their level of skill, professionalism, care, and ability to make you feel comfortable is truly impressive. Getting my first piercings (5 so far) this year was a bit spooky, and they put up with a lot of nervous questions both in advance and afterwards. I love how seriously they take follow-up care, booking me in quickly when I had concerns, and giving me timelines on how long to wait to see if things were ok, and encouraging me to come in for a checkup if anything felt a little off. You're in good hands here!

He also helped me pick and style 4 other exsisting piercings and they now all look so amazing, Im so happy with how they turned out! Expérience fantastique: If I could put 6 stars I would. I took my 6-year-old daughter to get her ears pierced and the experience couldn't have possibly been more positive. Grantham is an absolute rockstar. They made my daughter and myself feel so safe and comfortable. They asked for consent for every action and my daughter was made to feel like she was in full control the entire time. They took their time explaining every part of the process and not a single tear was shed when the needle went through. I will definitely be going back there for my next tattoo. Expérience fantastique: My favourite shop for years hands down. Everyone there is LOVELY! Aaron has been one of my regular artists since 2017 and puts so much love and care into every piece. Everyone really wants you to feel at home! I also have been pierced multiple times by Eann and Grantham which is honestly why i’m finally writing a review after all these years. Grantham pierced my lip back in October and did an AMAZING job. I went in in January to change from a stud to a hoop. This past week my lip has been bothering me so much (NOTHING to do with the piercer, my body just didnt want a hoop lol). I messaged Grantham asking if I should remove it all together or just change back to a stud and they responded right away with what I should do (change back to the stud). Instantly feel so much relief. It’s amazing that Grantham is here to make sure you’re comfortable and have every question you need answered! I’ve had piercings from other places in the city and no one would ever help me out via instagram dm. They would rather have me come in and pay for them to answer my question. This experience just goes to show that it’s not all about money and profit for the artists and piercers at Next (which should be the standard everywhere but sadly its not) they really want you to be happy, healthy and comfortable. I always tell everyone to hit up Next for anything they need, and hoping this review highlights just how awesome they all are. Much love

Expérience fantastique: I took my 5 year old to get her ears pierced because she had been asking for a few years so I finally decided it was time. Grantham was so great with her, asking her questions to make sure this was her idea and not mine. Also ensured me that at any point she can say she doesn’t want to do it. Grantham was so patient with her and talked her through the whole process. Well in the end my daughter did back out and Grantham didn’t fret for a second. Ensured my daughter that it was her decision and she respects that. I ended up deciding to show my daughter what it will look like and got my nose pierced. Honestly my daughter for week asked about Grantham and if she could go and see them. They really made an impact on her and we will definitely be back when my daughter is ready.

Expérience fantastique: My son had a piercing with Eann the other day. I was very impressed by how caring and thorough Eann was. Booking the piercing was very easy and strait forward and as a parent it was reassuring to see that Next require the parent to be present and photo ID presented. Eann explained the entire process very well and put my son at ease. He went over all the aftercare process I detail and checked on my son regularly to see how they were feeling. If your child is trans and/or neurodivergent I’d whole heartedly recommend Next and Eann for their piercings! Thank your for taking such good care of my son.

Expérience fantastique: Grantham provided double lobe ear piercing today for my kids, aged 4 and 6, and did a terrific job throughout our ~1.5h appointment. After reading pediatrician recommendations against piercing guns due to scarring and infection risks, I looked around town for professional body piercing for kids. It took a fair bit of research to find out that Next! Is the only place (as far as I found) that offers pro needle piercing services to kids under 5. Ouros does only 5 and up, Artisphere does only 8+. Next! has a great detailed consent process. I ought to have pre-dosed with Tylenol to take the edge off, but the kids really wanted this and soldiered through. Grantham provided warm, engaging and age appropriate explanations with reference to cute stuffies with piercings, at times using humour to reassure or distract. They reminded the kids that at any time we could stop. But this wasn't talking the kids out of the procedure; they encouraged the kids to distinguish fear of pain from deciding to stop, and reestablished consent several times. They gave detailed after care instructions and had some sweet treats to calm any tears. The kids had a great experience and are super pleased with their new bling (stars and moons, titanium). I would highly recommend Grantham for ear piercing for kids, especially young kids.

Expérience fantastique: I got my lobes re-pierced by Grantham--the original piercings from Claire's hadn't healed well and had scarred over, and after discussing it with Grantham over instagram, I decided to book for a consult +/- piercing. First, they probed the piercing to see if they were unhealed fistulas. They had completely closed over so we went ahead with the two lobe piercings. They look great and I'm so happy! Grantham was so lovely and sweet, and extremely easy to talk to. They were extremely thorough about aftercare and follow up instructions and made everything very clear. The shop was fairly quiet when I went but everyone I spoke to was so lovely and friendly. Fantastic experience, I would definitely recommend Next! to anyone looking for tattoos and piercings!

Had such a good experience that I brought my 10yr old in yesterday for her earlobes (they let me use my titanium labrets from my previous piercings, I only had to pay a very reasonable fee for sterilizing). My daughter loved Grantham - they are truly great with kids! So many little tricks to make the child comfortable/in control. And so PATIENT and professional. Highly recommend and I will be back! Also have to add that email communication leading up to the appt with all/any staff is always excellent. Love y'all

Expérience fantastique: I’ve been to Next twice now for piercings, have had Grantham both those times and they are awesome. They always provide ample time to explain the process, check in with me multiple times throughout the service, and pierce me correctly to my anatomy, not just for the ‘look’ (although it always looks good too haha) I put off getting the piercings I’ve dreamed about for over a decade because I was scared of the process, pain and aftercare, but I’m obsessed with the work Grantham has done. Both look great and are healing wonderfully with ease. Grantham always answers I the questions I DM them post piercing. I cannot say enough how much I trust and appreciate Grantham.

She drew up so many beautiful ideas when I was indecisive about what to get and the end result is beyond amazing and so pretty!! Then while I was there I asked about getting new jewelry for my old piercings and Grantham helped me pick out new rings and was so knowledgeable and friendly, and even stayed until I was done my tattoo to do the insertions for me. Everyone was so kind!! I will definitely be coming back.

They were so professional and informative before and after I received my piercings and so sanitary, it was like being at a hospital with a specialist. Grantham made sure that the piercings position complimented my body, unlike the generic style that’s done by others. I chose Grantham bc I have been to other piercers that were not skilled and the piercings were rejected. Grantham made markings, a care plan, and gave information which sets you up for success. Expérience fantastique: 20 year old helix ring broke and went missing unexpectedly, so I showed up unannounced hoping to assess the possible gauge and the size of the ring. I was out of there in less than 10 minutes with a new equivalent ring installed. Eann was immensely helpful and the prices were quite reasonable. Highly recommend this shop.

I got my ear lobes pierced for the third time in my life and the lovely Grantham was so kind and super knowledgeable. After my last two failed attempts when I was young, this time my lobes are all healed and look great! They really set you up for success with the aftercare. I'm so thrilled to have earrings again! Grantham also did a helix piercing for me too which was so easy and it's been healing just fine. I'm sure I'll be back again soon for something else!

Expérience négative: Stopped in on Sunday to see if they could swap out my nose ring. They were super busy so I booked an appt for Tuesday during my lunch break. I let the front desk worker know I would be crunched for time and he assured me it would only take a couple minutes. I arrive 5 min early for my appt today and am told the piercer is with another client. I wait around for 15-20 min but have to leave to head back to work. This different front desk worker told me they just took a walk in right before I arrived and seemed confused I had an appt. Missed lunch over this ordeal and was late getting back to work. Please respect your client’s time or don’t offer appointments.

Everyone at the studio was very friendly and knowledgeable. Eann did both the pre-consult and piercing and was terrific. He explained everything clearly and matter-of-fact and made sure my kidlet felt empowered every step of the way. I really appreciated how he acknowledged it's normal to be nervous and totally okay if she wanted to change her mind or take a breather or break between getting each ear pierced. Expérience fantastique: Two of my friends and I have just gotten piercings (lobes, nostril, and helix) done at Next and we had an awesome experience! Our piercer Grantham was super friendly and funny, and we had a great chat while we all had new holes done. Every part of the process was communicated very clearly and Grantham answered all of our silly questions really informatively as well as giving us great advice about an other bodymods we are considering in the future. Overall we had a lovely time and I would absolutely recommend Next especially to anyone feeling particularity anxious or unsure about piercing because the staff is so knowledgeable and sweet! 10/10!!

Expérience fantastique: Just got my first piercings here (lobes and nostril), and I would recommend anyone and everyone to come here. The shop is clean and friendly, and so welcoming. Grantham was really awesome at communicating everything I needed to know about the piercings and aftercare, not to mention they were funny and knowledgeable (including giving recommendations--but making sure it was what I wanted, and not pressuring me into anything). Their website also has a ton of useful information. It was a little on the pricey side, but this is a permanent body modification--especially with what I've heard of people's bad experiences elsewhere, you want to spend a little more to get the best possible experience. If you're trying to decide where to go, this is your place!

Today I got a tattoo done with Syd and it turned out even better than what I had in mind, they are super friendly too and all in all just have had nothing but the nicest experiences with the folks at the this place so far!

Expérience fantastique: I got three piercings done at the studio (nostril, spetum and vertical labret) and each of the piercer - and the staff in general - was super friendly and knowledgeable! They explained what they were doing step by step and answered all of my questions patiently. The whole atmosphere in the studio is so great that it's hard to feel uncomfortable or nervous there. Can't wait to go back for my next piercing!

Expérience fantastique: I got my first piercings here: doubles on my lobes, with Dorian. I was a bit scared but he was SO SO patient and calm. He really took his time explaining what to expect, aftercare, etc. We had some really good discussion on how to get the aesthetic I was going for. He noticed the asymmetries in my ears (I never would have noticed) and was able to provide lots of input on how to get the right aesthetic. I feel like he has been doing this for a long time. We went through many rounds of drawing and erasing dots to get things *exactly* the way I wanted them, I guess I just want to emphasize just how patient he was with me. With the actual needle he was really soothing and helped me do breathing to keep calm and steady, and communicated everything really well and the piercing itself was painless (super weird the first time!). I felt like he had me in mind at every stage in the journey -- I'm so happy with my piercings and full of euphoria -- thank you!! Also -- very trans positive, so yay!! Very happy with my experience here and I'm already thinking about when I will go back. :))

Lots of attitude in this shop with the owner boasting loudly and non-stop of his fights with customers & people which is pretty uncomfortable to listen to. Expérience fantastique: I’ve gotten a piercing and a tattoo here and it went really well. The shop is clean and has good vibes, and eann and syd were both really lovely. Specifically as a queer person I felt very welcomed.

Expérience négative: Used to be my go-to shop when they were located on Granville. I got my navel and double helix pierced by Eann (if I remember their name correctly). The navel piercing ended up being crooked, and I had to take it out, let it heal, and get it redone elsewhere. One of the helix piercings out of the double kept bugging me even after 3 years of having it, and I also could never get posts or rings through it without it becoming a bloody mess (mind you, I only attempted changing the jewelry out after 2.5 years). I finally went to a different shop to ask why. She told me it was pierced at an angle through my ear and that was why it kept not healing and also why I could never get any new jewelry through it. Took that one out too, now I'm getting it redone there. The top helix survived though, so I guess not all my money is wasted haha. I also went here a few months ago at the new location and the lady who helped me change out jewelry was extremely kind and patient. Hope I can muster up the courage to try this place out again if things have improved!

We chose this place because I first got double cartilage piercings in 2011, when they were still located on Granville & Davie, as well as having read so many wonderful reviews. My husband used to work at a tattoo and piercing shop, and liked what he could see from Next's website and Facebook page. Our piercer Eann was an absolute dream, super knowledgable and with the perfect attitude and approach for anyone of any age looking to get some piercings done. Clean, professional work with clear and thorough instructions on aftercare and what to expect before, during, and after your piercings. Very happy to come back here for any future work. And if you're just popping in as someone else's emotional support, there's plenty of interesting and beautiful artwork all over the place. There's even a little tribute to Canuck the Crow for those who know and love East Van culture. Will highly recommend Next to anyone! Just remember to always tip your piercers They do so much more than the clerk at Claire's when y'all were in middle school.

Expérience négative: I got my second nose piercing with Ian and oh my gosh he is so lovely. Very knowledgeable about what my nose needed for the best result! Highly recommend.❤️ Update on my nose piercing: unfortunately it hasn’t healed properly, I went to a local piercer in my area and they showed me that the angle of the piercing is not very good. It’s at an angle where it’s almost parallel with my septum:( I did try to contact this shop and ask them for some compensation bc it will never heal I need to take it out and get it repierced but they never got back to me. I messaged them on the messenger option on their page when you click their website. I’m definitely sad, I don’t want to take it out but it will keep being red and irritated if I don’t:(. I think this place is good if you live in the area and if something like this happened (sometimes it does and that’s okay) you can go back in and I’m sure they would see what they could do to fix it. I live in alberta and won’t be in their area anytime soon. So just please be aware if you are visiting Vancouver and want a piercing it may be better to go somewhere else.

Expérience fantastique: Literally just got a vertical labret done by Eann and it went amazingly!! Eann is super knowledgeable about piercings and the sanitization behind them, I love that they went through everything that I'd need to know about the piercing itself and the aftercare involved for it!! Wide ranges of jewelry are available for your liking (materials/styles/etc), and if ya can't find something ya like then the staff actively encourage you to let them know what you'd want and they can order it for you!! They also sell aftercare so saves ya the hassle of trying to find some to buy LOL Everyone there is super sweet and nice, made me feel incredibly welcomed there!! The studio itself is also very nice and very cute!!! Shout out to Naomi for replying to emails faster than the speed of light 10/10 experience at Next!, I highly recommend!! Would and WILL go back again for future piercings/tattoos cause I love y'all so much!!

So thorough, so kind, professional and took the time to make sure that her and her bud felt comfortable and safe having their lobes pierced with a needle. My kid is stoked to be fancy and I'm stoked she had such a positive experience.

Expérience positive: This experience was heavily split for me. I got my nose pierced by Dorian, (this was not my first piercing, it was my 8th,) he was very sweet and calm the whole time while he explained what he was doing step by step. I would absolutely see him again. However, another person at the shop - Ian - was incredibly condescending and rude, talked over the piercer I booked with to give their opinions I did not ask for about my choices and body. I would not recommend seeing this piercer as they talked to me like I was a child rather than an adult with multiple piercings and still somehow made me incredibly uncomfortable even though they were nowhere near me with a needle.

Expérience fantastique: I never ever leave reviews but go to Eann for your next piercing!! He was so lovely and did my septum yesterday. Eann has a way of easing your nerves and explaining the aftercare/information about your piercing in such detail that I have never encountered with any piercer or tattoo artist. You can tell he truly cares about what he does and getting everything just right. Thank you so much to Eann for such a comfortable and pleasant piercing experience!!!

Paige did an amazing job on both tattoos (pictures: coloured floral is healed, black line work is fresh) and I'm excited to continue adding more of her art work to my collection. The shop overall made me feel welcome and relaxed right from the beginning and I felt at ease during the entire appointment. The space is very clean and I felt informed on the healing process and what to expect as my tattoo healed. Expérience fantastique: My 5 year old wanted her ears pierced so I booked here because it was nearby - not knowing very much about it. We had a really fantastic experience with Eann who was so warm and helpful. He explained everything so thoroughly and helped us choose the jewelry with patience and grace. When she decided to only do one ear, he was so accepting and made her feel like her choice was completely valid and ok! She loved him and afterward said she wishes he was in our family Will be coming back for sure - when she decides to do the other lobe!

Expérience fantastique: Had my septum pierced here back in the 90's by Fog and had to sit in with a bunch of people and learn about the whole process and proper cleaning and all that. Was a great experience for my first piercing and no other shop has put that much care into making sure the customer was comfortable and knew what was going on.

Expérience fantastique: Great service, great attitudes. Went there on the weekend to inquire about a piercing I used to have (over 25y years ago) being redone. Eann was great to deal with, we talked about options, etc, and I booked an appointment for later in the week. I booked with Anwynn because that's who was piercing on the day I was available. It turns out that we were also greeted by the new owner. Anwynn was amazing, answered all questions, made sure I was up to date on all the newer information, etc. Everything went so well, my wife ended up getting new jewelry installed as well. Everyone we dealt with, from piercers, tattoo artists, counter staff, to the actual owner were great and treated us immediately like friends. We went back two days later to have something checked out, and it was more of the same. Highly recommended.

Expérience négative: Never go here for piercings. I came here last June 2021 to get my right helix and left tragus pierced. Grace never warned me not to get two piercings done on each side at the same time. She told me I can sleep on my tragus. 3 months later I realized the skin on my tragus had grown over the back of the earring. The guy put in a longer bar and he told me I can’t sleep on my piercings. This was new news for me! How can I do this if I am a side sleeper? He suggested a travel pillow. It’s June 2022 a year later and neither piercings fully healed well. I went to another piercing shop and she told me my tragus is being rejected. I also had a bump on the back of my helix she said “maybe” it will go away. Sadly I made the decision to retire my tragus piercing and I hope the best for my helix. I don’t recommend Next!. They’re uneducated and never gave me proper aftercare instructions. Even the piercer at the shop I went to didn’t have nice comments to say about the piercers at Next!.
