I found Clara to be full of life, energetic and so excited to work with me on my tattoo concept. Clara was almost more excited about working on my tattoo than I was receiving it. Expérience fantastique: I got my very first tattoo with Ashley at Liquid Amber. I'm late to tattoos - getting my first at the youthful age of 51 - and couldn't be happier with the experience or my tattoo. Ashley was fantastic, very patient, friendly, and positive, and really captured the image I was going for, even adding in some wonderful details to make it even better. The studio itself is very pleasant. Relaxed, friendly and brightly lit, and staff were very friendly and welcoming. 5 out of 5. Will definitely be back.

Expérience fantastique: I had the most incredible experience at Liquid Amber. I'm not an artist so I had some difficulty articulating what I was looking for. I sent in my request with as much detail as I could provide and immediately got a response back indicating that they have an artist who might be interested. They confirmed that Angel would love to to work on my request and that he would have some mockups available to review and tweak at the start of my appointment. I arrived an Angel walked through his creation and I fell in love immediately. We tweaked a few things related to the dates and he made sure I was comfortable with his interpretation. I can't express how happy I am with the end result. Both my wife and I had all day sessions with artists and both walked away with amazing pieces. We will both be back again very soon. Thank you so much!

Expérience fantastique: Shop staff is amazing and quick to respond! Amelia did a fantastic job designing and tattooing my daughter’s birth flowers into an arm wrap! If I ever go to Vancouver again they will be my first stop!

Expérience négative: Awful experience with Miranda Boire, which I'm so sad about. A serious lack of care, empathy, communication, attention to detail. I ended up with a tattoo I did not want despite us being so clear on the plan from the start. She did her own thing without letting me know or asking me, which I now have to live with forever. She also gave me an infection TWICE, which she was incredibly defensive about and tried to blame me for poor aftercare, or that I must be immune compromised or nutrient deficient, or her coworker must have not sterilized the station before her, etc. All things considered, I have strong reason to believe it was due to inadequate disinfecting on her part. I have to mention that she had a powerful odour coming off of her, and I wouldn't be surprised if whatever was causing that was a contributing factor in the infections. Her work is also patchy, which she tried to blame me for possibly having an overactive liver (???), and also excused it by saying hand tattoos just heal patchy. To be fair, none of my tattoos (including the ones on my hands) from other artists have ever gotten infected or healed patchy or faded. It's been just over a week from our last appointment and her lines are already falling out. It also took her an ungodly amount of time to do this tattoo, which cost me an ungodly amount of money. Other tattoo artists have agreed that the time spent on this tattoo is "crazy". She sure rushed through the complimentary touch up though, and I can see where the needle slipped and little areas that need to be fixed. Despite the hours and weeks that have gone into it, the lack of care in the detail is seriously disappointing. When I asked her a question about the detail, she again got very defensive. Previously she was responsive by email but now that she's taken my money and doesn't need to see me anymore she's MIA. I would be remiss to not warn you that she doesn't follow along to a photo, it "just comes out of [her] brain" as she says (scary), so if you're looking for true realism and genuine effort, look elsewhere. She also will not tell you that she's going to blast your skin with greywash and leave you with a dark blob for 8 weeks that will heal to a muddy grey mess with no gradient to be found. This has caused me a lot of stress and my self esteem as taken a hit. Leaving this here for closure and to hopefully help someone avoid my mistake.

Expérience fantastique: My entire experience at Liquid Amber was 5 star. My consultation with Alina was super helpful in fleshing out my very loose theme and concepts. Alina did an amazing job at converting that to the perfect tattoo design. The tattoo experience itself was very professional, lots of care taken to ensure my comfort. Alina did an incredible job on the tattoo, the detail is phenomenal and I am so happy with the results. I will definitely have her ink me again.

Expérience fantastique: Like many tattooed people, I’ve gone through the phase of “this is the last one” at least once. Seeing the work by the artists at Liquid Amber was enough to make me forget I’d ever said those words. Adrian has taken some of my whacky-sounding ideas and not only brought them to life, but created better versions of exactly what I had imagined. His talent is truly nothing short of impressive and the effort and research he puts into his designs assures that you are going to receive the highest quality of tattoo. So now, as I ponder whether this latest addition will actually be my last, I can sleep soundly knowing that if I decide I’m not ready to stop I know exactly where I’ll be going.

Expérience fantastique: I had an old tattoo of about 16 years with two butterflies that wanted to get revamped into a watercolor tattoo. The receptionists were very helpful and gave me a few artist suggestions when the artist I originally wanted was unavailable. I had an appointment with my next choice, unfortunately the tattoo did not turn out at all how I wanted and I left feeling upset. Helen, got in contact and offered to work with me to fix up the other artists work. She booked me in for a consultation and we really nailed down what could be changed and what I wanted. Helen is a true professional, she listens and really cares what her clients wants! She specializes in fix ups and cover ups, she will work with your old tattoo and give it new life with her specific techniques. Not only is she uber talented but she is also easy to talk to and makes the experience comfortable and fun. I couldn't be happier with the end result, I now have a truly beautiful watercolor tattoo and Helen was able to cover up everything I didn't like, also she added some of her own style into the piece which I love! Thank you Helen, I am beyond grateful! I highly recommend her to anyone :)

Expérience négative: An uncomfortable tattoo experience and I’m not talking about the needles. My artist was Angel and he got the face wrong on my tattoo of vi off arcane so I mentioned it to him asking if he could change the face to the drawing and he told me that HE likes it multiple times and that he wants his artistry to show as well. The face is so beautiful so I didn’t want it changed like he was trying to do. Despite my concerns he told me it looks good so he asked me what to change. I had to tell him to make the eyebrows more straight to match the drawing and he said eyebrows move. I told him the lips are different and I asked him to change it to be less round and more straight. He wasn’t happy that I wanted the drawing to be edited. After several exchanges between us he told me he’s not a printer. But he eventually went back and redid it to my liking and not his. He came back with this big printout ready for the stencil and I had to tell him the size I wanted was way smaller and again he got annoyed and told me that’s not what we talked about. So I mentioned that I sent an email the day of our consultation describing the size I was looking for and that I got a reply from the receptionist telling me she passed the email along and told him and he said yes to it. I told him I could show him the email and he said okay. I did and he said that he didn’t get the message. At this point I really don’t want my tattoo with this guy, I’m not feeling it at all and his behaviour left me feeling so bad but I put $400 deposit on it and I don’t want to lose that money but the policy says I will. I’m also so excited for this tattoo for weeks. My mistake is not telling the receptionist my artist and I are having major conflicts and asking for a change in artist or something because the face didn’t match the drawing still but at this point he’s already upset w me telling him to change the face to the drawing multiple times and the size so i just move forward with the changes he made. The whole session we don’t talk to each other except when he asked me to pull out the pic on my phone so he can do the make up. He’s laughing with the artist beside us about his new couch that won’t fit into the door of his apt and I’m happy his mood is better for the actual tattooing. Soooo when it’s all over it’s looks pretty good and the hairs really nice but when I get home I look closely and see he did the lips how he originally wanted it and not the changes we made!!!! I’m so upset with this because now it’s on MY body forever not his body. Now I’m looking at a cover up when this tattoo is healed because this tattoo reminds me of the horrible experience and the face of idk who because it’s not the face of the character i really wanted. The next morning I notice the face is smearing due to the healing and it looks way better like that, so maybe I just need another artist to put a lot of hair in front of the face instead of a full cover up. I feel ashamed I let this happen I shouldve stuck up for myself more despite his angry attitude towards me. I want to note I got a tattoo here about 4 yrs ago with the owner and the whole process was amazing and the tattoo is so beautiful and that’s why I went back but choose Angel as the artist this time because he specializes in anime and video game characters so i mistakenly assumed he would get the face right for that. Also another artist beside us was doing a wonderful job on his client with a scorpion tattoo on the leg and they both were having a good time. Also, My artist named Angel told me he’d send the drawings days before the tattoo and never did. My excitement overlooked that and I trusted we could pull it off the same day. Watch out for Angel if you don’t like what he draws for your body, because he doesn’t care about your opinion, I felt like I had to force him to change the drawing to the pics I sent him, our interactions left my hands shaking and my heart pounding. He loves his drawings despite it’s not what you wanted

Expérience fantastique: Went here earlier today to change the backing on my nose piercing! Very lovely staff, super welcoming, and I was told everything to know about the jewelry and aftercare. I’ve only been to one other piercing place, but the pricing here seemed about average. Will be coming back :)

Expérience fantastique: From my first contact with them to the finished product Liquid Amber and specifically Helen were professional and efficient. The shop is clean, without too much stimulation. Helen answered my request email quickly and said she could “complete” the two tattoos I had. When I arrived she already had sketched out what she thought would be a great choices for completing both pieces. Helen took the time to explain how and what she was going to do then, executed the plan. The results are better than I thought! I had other shops turn down my requests for rework, and now I’m glad they did. Helen is a master at making the impossible possible. Thank you again.

I was worried about the tattoo hurting, but she work efficiently and the session was painless. The shop is very well laid out and you feel very comfortable as soon as you walk in. My artist is Diana and I couldn’t be happier with the work I have gotten done so far. I’ve spent 2 full days at the shop and the tattoos coming out during those days were amazing. Diana is extremely detailed in her work, is a perfectionist, has a great personality and is extremely professional in regards to your tattoo and aftercare. Our expectations were blown away with the final results. From the pre planning process, to our appointment and adjustments needed for design, Alina was very receptive and polite. Offering her advice while still paying attention to details of what we both wanted. We both felt at ease with how particular and thorough she was during the whole tattooing process; making sure to have the size and placement perfect. Tattooing is tattooing, but we both were very comfortable during the whole session. Alina was very gentle and made sure we were comfortable. The studio was very clean and inviting. We were greeting and felt at home with everyone else there. Overall, we really can’t say enough. Alina is crazy talented and we were lucky to get a piece of her artwork. I inquired to shop on my idea for tattoo and invevitably booked a trip to Van. I love my tattoo. Alina is very talented, professional, and friendly. She was prepared, provided some options on design, and I can't say enough about the end result. My only regret is that I didn't do this sooner. The process with Ania is super professional and her work shows that. Ania is super friendly, easy to talk too and passionate about her work. She takes the time to listen to you and answer all the questions you have from the beginning to the end while also making sure you are comfortable while getting your tattoo and she has a gentle hand. Expérience négative: Horrible experience with the studio staff. (Not the artist) I waited for a tattoo artist to open her bookings as she only does a couple times a year. (The artist, Diana did nothing wrong, it was the studio staff). I set an alarm for the day the artist's bookings opened and I submitted my form and photos (July 31). I was then sent an email from the studio that said to "call" the studio to book a zoom consult with the artist. I called and left a voice mail to book the zoom. I didn't hear back from them for a while so I emailed to follow up. The lady that called me back after my follow-up email was SO rude. I've never experienced anything like it before. She kept talking over me and wouldn't let me get a word in, let alone a full sentence. I was just trying to tell her when i left the voice mail but she wouldnt let me speak. She kept repeating that she only works weekends, and that it my fault for not following up sooner to see why they didnt call me back and I have to wait until the artist opens bookings again in the spring. I literally could not get a word in. I was getting an arm sleeve and my husband was also wanting a sleeve and possibly his full back from the same studio. Neither of us will be going there now. Too bad for the artist as it wasnt her fault. I dont remember the rude staff member's name but it was Aug 26 when she called me. I honestly would have been fine to re book if the woman wasn't like that. I still can't believe how she spoke to me.

Expérience fantastique: HANDS DOWN BEST TATTOO PARLOUR ON COMMERCIAL DRIVE!! The artist that I have been going to is Ashley Horncastle and she is not only an artistic genius; she works quick and doesn't purposefully take longer to double-down on cost like other artists/studios Ashley completed a 1/2 done tattoo and did such an amazing job - turned out way better (and cheaper) than what was started with her taking over! I then had her touch up 2 older tattoos and they are more beautiful now than when I first got them! The shop is clean, modern, lovely, welcoming, temperature controlled with large windows and natural light. All the staff and artists are warm and friendly - no attitudes or aggressive egos - they are all professional, helpful, inclusive and delightful

Ashley did my most recent pieces and she is so lovely. Beautiful art, checked in with me often to make sure I was comfortable or if I needed a break. Other staff came over and hyped up the tattoo which just made me feel so excited and proud of the incredible art I now have on my skin. Took the time to provide aftercare instructions and made suggestions about products that would help (not just the ones the sell at the shop). I honestly can't imagine going elsewhere for a tattoo.

She is an incredible artist and the tattoo (my own design) is stunning, photographic! I had a small tattoo done before at Liquid Amber which was also executed in a beautiful way by Dasha. I showed her a photo of what I was aiming for as a memorial tattoo for my mom who very recently passed away and she drew a design free-hand on my arm that was perfect. The clean, open and bright new location is beautiful and they were even receiving some new tables when I was there! I've had a tattoo done at their old location as well.

Expérience négative: Color completely faded from my tattoo after 2 years. I have multiple tattoos from other artists that are just as old and still look like new. They want to charge me full price to get it retouched. Had a black and blue star done by the same artist and had to get it redone by someone else because the blue was so dark the the whole thing looked black. Poor customer service and poor tattoos. I will not be going back to this shop.

For a first experience this was amazing, the establishment is so professional yet casual and welcoming, and the talent from the artists is no joke. The atmosphere is so lovely and I felt so welcomed! Expérience fantastique: This place is amazing! I had done a ton of research looking at different artist's portfolios that best fit my idea and I found Ashley Horncastle! I asked if she could do a portrait of my late dog in the studio ghibli-ish style and she absolutely nailed it. Like made my husband cry nailed it. Ashley was the easiest person to talk to and just genuinely one of the sweetest people you'll ever meet. She made the whole session a breeze, at times I forgot I was getting a needle stabbed into me. Booking with them was also super easy with clear instructions of what to do and what to expect next. Everyone there from reception to other artists were the friendliest bunch. 100% recommend to both newbies and tat veterans Thanks again Ashley and team!

Expérience fantastique: I absolutely loved my experiences here with Calahan and recommend him to all looking for beautiful tattoos, kind conversation, a supportive environment, and friendly staff. I’ve had a few tattoos from Calahan and love them all! During consults, he was able to ask the right questions to get my vision - things I didn’t think to bring up myself. He also took his time with my questions both in consult and at the appointment to be sure I loved my new piece - and I do! The studio is very clean, people are kind, and the booking process was smooth. I’ll definitely be going back here for more!

Expérience fantastique: This was my 19th tattoo and this was also the best experience I've had at a tattoo studio (and I have gotten tattoos on 4 different continents). From the initial information emails to my interactions with Heather at the reception desk to Nicki's perfect design of sakura flowers (in which she really listened to my ideas) to her actual amazing fine line black and grey tattoo with shading and dot work, everything was top-notch! In addition to being an outstanding tattoo artist, Nicki is also so friendly, personal and has such an awesome sense of humour (as did Milo who was tattooing next to us - a while back Milo tattooed an amazing Lord of the Rings sword on my husband's ararm). Would highly highly recommend!

Expérience fantastique: Today I got my first tattoo…. The place and people had good vibes (from reception, clientele to the Artists) and the service was great! The perfect blend of professionalism and being personable! I was very nervous because of my worry about the pain of getting a tattoo and having a 2 and a half hour session. But Amelia made me feel as comfortable as possible and made me realize that it doesn’t really hurt that much :) I had a blast being tattooed by her! She was so friendly, fun, informative and an amazing conversationalist. I LOVE the work of art on my forearm and will always remember the best experience I could have asked for! Thxs everyone!

Expérience fantastique: Very professional and clean. Excellent staff morale. Diana Lin is my Tattoo artist. She is the bomb....... So far I've had a few sittings for my back tattoo and from draft to what I have now (still not finished) is exceptional. Exactly what I asked I couldn't be anymore happier with it. Diana is so fun and bubbly and makes you feel like a friend more than a client. When it's time for another Tattoo, I will 100% be seeing Diana again. Expérience fantastique: I got my very first tattoo here almost 5 months ago every single day I wake up still completely mesmerized by the incredible art I now have on my body. My tattoo artist was Amelia and she was just phenomenal. She triple checked that I loved the art work, as well as the stencil placement, and then got right down to work. She made sure I was comfortable and kept checking up on me and making sure I was okay, and if I needed water/a bathroom break. She was overall so incredibly sweet and compassionate, and her talent is truly indescribable. The atmosphere of the shop was so welcoming and comforting. Everything was very clean and tidy, the other clients/artists were very nice and easy to talk to, and the layout/decor was just so beautiful. If I could give more than 5 stars, I would because this experience was truly amazing. This tattoo is very meaningful to me and I’m so grateful it is even more beautiful than I could of imagined. I’ve been complimented by countless strangers, and have recommended Amelia and this shop to all my friends, family, and every single person to compliment it. Expérience négative: Very unprofessional shop. Very unprofessional "guest artists". Zero consultation. Zero communication. Zero design. Just show up and get a tattoo with whatever design they decide to do. Like it or not. Stay away if you have any expectations of a mutual collaboration and beneficial creative exchange. This is a one way street 'art collective'.

Ashley Horncastle has done my last 3 tattoos, as she's not only an incredible artist with a light touch, but she's also kind and very approachable. Plus, Ashley produces beautiful work across a variety of tattoo styles.

Expérience positive: I had a wonderful experience at liquid amber. I was travelling to Vancouver from Toronto and they managed to squeeze me in with Callahan with only a couple weeks notice. The staff were very helpful and well organized. Callahan had a lot of options ready for me when I arrived and drew up a new design when I changed my ideas. He was very flexible and provided lots of great advice, while answering my many questions. I love my new tattoo! The only thing I wished was that my appointment was during opening hours as I felt a bit rushed as they fit me in after store closing. I also wanted to add that as a nurse myself, the parlour was very clean and followed accurate sanitization, sharp safety and covid protocols.

Milo did my tattoo and it turned out fantastic! You can tell that Milo is passionate about art and tattooing, not to mention full of talent. I couldn't be happier with my first tattoo. Expérience fantastique: I looked around for a while before deciding on liquid amber tattoo and it was the BEST decision I made. The staff were all extremely friendly - from setting up my appointment to consultation everything was made to run smoothly. I had 10 little tattoos done by Amelia in one sitting and I could not be happier with the results. She explained everything throughly - listened to what I liked and wanted and gave her insight and expertise when I was unsure. She was realistic which is exactly what you want from your artist (in my opinion). She genuinely wanted me to be happy with the results and have what I wanted. She was completely realistic when it came to the sizes so that the tattoo wouldn’t later be compromised. She went above and beyond my expectations. She’s very sweet, easy to talk to when you’re sitting for a long time and extremely accommodating. Her line work is amazing as I got several script tattoos and they look so clean and well done. She will be my go to person in Vancouver for my upcoming tattoos and I’d recommend her a 1000x over. Also in regards to getting a tattoo during COVID they were extremely prepared. The shop was super clean and they thought of everything. The amount of gloves I seen each artist go through and washing their hands anytime they left their station I was amazed and completely at ease!
