Experiencia fantástica: I had Stephen Horsely as my Tattoo artist, and for my first tattoo, I cannot recommend him enough. He is the best he calms your nerves great with fine mind, tattoos, and really tries to get to know you on one on one basis.

Experiencia negativa: I almost never leave a Google review for any place, but I went in on a whim with an idea for a tattoo, and was promptly told by an artist who a) didn’t introduce themselves and b) glared at me the whole time I was trying to explain my idea that they “hate that and don’t want to do it” but will do a completely different tattoo. This isn’t my first go round getting tattoos. I’m open to re working the design to still fit the general idea of what goes on *my* body. Completely unprofessional and strange your artist want to turn away money, especially considering the place was completely dead at 1pm.

Experiencia fantástica: One of the best tattoo shops I have been too. everyone who works here is extremely friendly and kind and I have been there over three different times. Shop is clean and well taken care of with endless art all over and a huge selection for piercings. I want to specifically give a huge show out to Bry, not only is her work amazing but she creates such a calm environment that makes the tattoo process so much easier. She is able to create such beautiful designs that incorporate all your ideas and she makes sure they are placed rights even if that means having to re stencil. While she may be the color queen don’t discredit her black and white because she is able to add so much depth with only black ink it’s insane.

Then told I can’t put the ball on in the store… meanwhile my spouse is about to make yall money by finding what she wanted tattooed on her body . Oh well no money for you I guess ‍♂️. This was the last chance at this location and I will not be returning to this location. Make sure to walk past this spot every time. If you want quality staff go to Southpark mall or downtown. Way to loose business.

My daughter didn’t even flinch during the piercing and I feel like Whitney had gained her trust prior to the actual piercing.

I got a rook and a conch and they made the whole experience amazing and non stressful 10/10 recommend Update: shortly after getting pierced the ball of my rook fell out and charlotte was very kind fixing it and very apologetic. Experiencia fantástica: Arrived at River City Tattoo in Chesterfield Town Center before they opened with my stepdaughter as she wanted to get her first tattoo, which gave me an excuse to get another one. AJ was our artist and listened to what both of us wanted and gave us suggestions that would in his opinion make what we wanted better, and his suggestions definitely did not disappoint. My stepdaughters came out great and it was a great experience for her first time! AJ totally exceeded my expectations with mine and took the time to make it unique and totally awesome! AJ was very personable and professional and I would highly recommend him. Its been many years since I have gotten a tattoo, but I will be back soon to see AJ for another! GO BILLS!!

Experiencia negativa: Garbage! Went in to schedule a appointment to get a tatoo and was told they don't do appointments but the tatoo artist talked to me and said if I came in at 11am today he'd get me right in. Came in at 11 today only to find out the store didn't even open until 12, I talked to the lady that was there at the time and she texted her boss who said "we would never schedule something for 11". Was the told to come back at 12 and they would get me right in. Came back at 1145 waited another 15 minutes for the store to open only to be told there was people before me and it would be at least an hour and a half wait. Absolutely terrible customer service and communication. DO NOT GO HERE

Experiencia negativa: Extremely overpriced, got a shoulder tattoo done for almost 600$ ink wasn't put deep enough into my skin and washed completely out somehow in the shower aswell as being extremely light even after getting it completed. I was new to tattoos when I first came here but now that Ive went to other artists and got more work done it is not worth it, Save your money!

Experiencia fantástica: AJ tattooed my mom and I both, he was great! He worked hard to design what we wanted and to ensure we were happy with what we got. The piercer was fabulous as well. She made sure my mom’s earring holes were placed perfectly and made sure my mom was pleased with placement as well. Both were very patient with my mom. My tattoos were simple but in a difficult place that AJ doesn’t like to do, but he did what I wanted and did his best so they will hopefully do well on my fingers.

Experiencia negativa: Got my labret pierced, and realized the piercing was crooked when I left, this is my third crooked piercing I’ve gotten from here, although in my defense the others were much more subtle, this is just bad. Please don’t go here if you want a good piercing! Idc how busy you are, I really didn’t appreciate the piercing feeling rushed, especially with such an important facial piercing… this was for my 18th birthday, and the piercing now turns whenever I open my mouth to talk and scrapes my teeth. I haven’t called to get store credit yet, but I will update soon (if i can) to whether or not they right this wrong.

Experiencia fantástica: I had such an amazing experience at River City Tattoo and Piercing! I booked online a few days in advance to get a double nose piercing on the right side, and I have to say—their online booking system is rad and super easy to use. I got there about 30 minutes early, filled out my paperwork, and didn’t wait long at all! We started right at 5, which I really appreciated. Super punctual and professional from start to finish. Morgan was absolutely wonderful. He was incredibly sweet, knowledgeable, and reassuring, and made the whole process feel as easy as it possibly could be. Let’s be real—it’s a piercing, it’s going to hurt—but the way he talks you through everything makes it so much more manageable. I never felt rushed or nervous. There are tons of piercing options, and Morgan was especially impressive with the precision and placement since this was a double piercing. You can tell he’s really thoughtful and smart about how he does his work, which made me feel totally confident the entire time. All in all, I’m so, so happy with my experience and my piercings. I’ll definitely be back the next time I decide I want to pay for pain again Highly recommend!

Then handed me a paper towel with their bare hand to soak up the blood (I threw it away). Also not trying to be rude but my piercer’s breath smelled really bad :( Do not come here Edit: changed it to two stars because they did a helix piercing that came out great and because they kindly called me to apologize

Experiencia fantástica: Professional and amazing with kids. Took my daughter (9) for her first ear piercing today and the whole entire process was amazing. She was nervous (to be expected) and the second we started our appointment it just changed to excitement. The way they interacted with her and with us was just so reassuring. (Shout out to Whitney!!) The level of care throughout the process, and what we were sent home with for healing care was just top notch. 9 year old me is so jealous of this appointment; if I had received this care and these options my ears would probably still be pierced and healthy versus 4 closed / 2 scarred holes I live with now … if I consider earrings in the future for myself or more for my daughter, I’d be going nowhere else but here. Having someone trained and licensed in piercings is the icing on the cake!

Experiencia negativa: I’ve never written a review or a bad one ever but it’s been a long time since this happened. Back in October of 2023, came in with my friend and I got my navel pierced.. totally fine no issues, 8 months passed and it was still a little sore and swelled up.. didn’t think anything as I was cleaning it appropriately everyday. A year passes and it was worsening, the skin became so thin you could see the bar through it, I had to take it out because it was rejecting. Originally I didn’t really have any harsh feelings. Hey my body rejected a piercing.. nothing I can do, things happen. I went back to the same location maybe a few months ago and just walked in to ask if maybe I’d be able to eventually get it re-pierced or something as the scarring was looking better. A few people were sitting at the counter, I can’t remember what they looked like.. I don’t really care I’m not really looking to get anyone in trouble. I asked if they could just take a quick glance, and I was absolutely baffled . Some girl looked at it for not even a second and rudely said something along the lines of, “No. That scar will never heal. You’ll never be able to get another navel piercing.” I mean hey, piercer probably knows best and all that stuff, no problem with what she said it’s just the way she said it. Rude with attitude and then smiled about it. I still have the jewelry with me that I had got originally, and eventually found out it was too small and didn’t allow for swelling.

But not painful! 10/10 recommend! …… lowkey … thinking about getting my other ear done??!? lol Pain rate I give it … 2 out of 10 pain level ***UPDATE: 3 weeks later, no issues with my piercing ! Headaches and nausea have disappeared for me. I would get them 24/7 especially with my health conditions. I feel like a new person. I read a lot of it being a placebo affect… if it is. It freaking worked for me.

Experiencia negativa: If I could give zero stars I would. I have tried a couple of times to get an Ashley piercing at this location as well as a helix for my daughter. The first attempt, we were told it would be a 45 minute wait. We waited over an hour and needed to leave. I made appointments for both piercings to be done. We got there early to do paperwork. I was told that the piercer there today couldnt to do the piercing I wanted (the Ashley). Understandably I was frustrated and annoyed because I specifically made the appointment for this piercing at this location. In none of my confirmation emails or texts was it mentioned that the piercer for the appointment can’t perform the Ashley. The receptionist didn’t offer any resolution or offer an alternative. Didn’t seem to care that I’ve wasted time coming to this location. This location used to be wonderful. Now it seems to have people who don’t know how to perform services that clients make appointments for and front desk staff that don’t understand customer service.

Experiencia negativa: UPDATE: I traveled from over 1.5 hours away as I loved the service I previously received & I got two more helix piercings on 12/26/24 (making my total number of helix piercings six w/ three on each ear). Unfortunately, even though I was cleaning my ear appropriately, my ear ended up becoming red & swollen over time. I was told that it would get better over time but eventually my face (on the same side I got my piercings) started feeling weird, which is when I realized things were getting worse & I visited a piercing shop in my local area. At that point, the earrings on that ear were pretty much swallowed by the swelling. As soon as the piercer saw my ear, she immediately pulled me into the back & took out all of my helix piercings on that ear, which provided instant relief! She cleaned my ear up & explained to me that the piercer at River City Tattoo gave me too small of a post for my piercings. She also said that because I got two helix piercings beside each other, the piercer should have considered that & given me even longer posts. She even took a photo of my ear, something I wish I asked her for, & sent it to her apprentices as what not to do. I had put a lot of trust in my piercer & this incident broke it. I decided that I will go to my local piercer from now on. 11/26/23: Got my helix pierced twice by them at the Richmond Tattoo Convention two weeks prior. Came back to replace two of my four helix earrings to match the ones I got at the convention. Loved the service! (5 star review & photo included)

Experiencia fantástica: got my 2nd lobes and my eyebrow pierced here. the piercers are so sweet, very flexible and willing to change placement and are super understanding. they even will call u a few months after the piercing to make sure it’s healing correctly and offer free checkups. when i got my 2nd lobes done they were previously healing from an old party piercing, one was okay and was able to be poked through with a stud and the other one had to be completely repierced. the piercer only charged me for one! the jewelry selection is wide and all the metal is super safe. couldn’t recommend this place enough!

Mikey was Phenomenal, very professional! AJ did a phenomenal job, he took the time to curate a design my daughter loved based off one of her sketches. She absolutely loved it. He's an extremely talented artist. They're huge on aftercare and offer everything you could need, but they never push products on you. They tell you what you can use at home, which I appreciate. Studio is cleaned SO thoroughly and disinfected after every person does anything. If you have any questions, or need a touch up, or if something's not right after you get your tattoo, you can just come back in and they'll gladly fix it. 10/10 will get my next one there again.

They were clean and had lots of options for jewelry including flat backs. They also gave her a swag bag with cleaning supplies, temp tattoos, stickers, and a certificate! The whole appointment was on the pricey side but I would say worth it. Definitely reccomend for littles ear piercings!

Experiencia fantástica: I took my almost 4 year old daughter to get her ears pierced. The front desk staff were so kind and so patient with everyone that came into the shop. We had a 3pm appointment and we were called on time. They kindly pulled out a step ladder for my daughter to look at the earring options. She was getting a little nervous, but Evan was so patient with her. He explained every step of the process to her and she began to ease up. When it was time for the actual piercing, Maisie joined in and she was lovely! My daughter felt comfortable with both of them and the experience was wonderful! They send kids home with a cute certificate, cleaning solution, instructions and a bunch of little tattoos ( which my daughter loved). They were very thorough with the care instructions as well. Will definitely be returning in the future, highly recommend for kid's ear piercing!

Experiencia negativa: Walked in excited about possibly getting a nose piercing as I’ve been wanting one. Was in the store browsing the Jewelry for nearly 3 minutes and three ladies were at the desk. I even walked up the desk to look at some flyers and was never acknowledged as they were on their phones heads down. So I walked out and left.

Experiencia fantástica: We just left from getting my daughters ear pierced. The shop is clean. I don't remember the name of thr lady who pierced her ears, she did a great job. Ears rings are in matching position and look even. She was quick and it my daughter said it was not as painful as she thought it would be.

Experiencia fantástica: A bit expensive for children's ear piercing, but probably worth it. Evan made my daughter feel at ease and did a great job marking her ears. He and Maisie did her piercings simultaneously and she hardly felt thing. They gave her the piercing wash and saline, instructions, a swag bag, and certificate of bravery. So far her ears are doing well, but sometimes the backs get a little tight. I should have probably gotten the flat backs, but I had a certain budget. Now my younger daughter wants to get hers done.

Experiencia fantástica: I brought my child in to get their ears pierced. My child got to choose which piercing they wanted and Maisie explained the difference between each type. The gentleman (Evan I believe) was extremely personable and knowledgeable. He talked my child through the process of everything he was doing which calmed my child’s nerves. We discussed metal sensitivity and signs to look for. After it was all said and done my child got a goody bag of temporary tattoos and stickers as well as the necessary cleaning products for the piercing. There was even a certificate for my child for the “bravery” they had getting the ears pierced. The price was a little more than what I was expecting (just a little bit) HOWEVER I am a firm believer that you get what you pay for and hands down I am extremely pleased with the experience we had and would HIGHLY recommend.

Experiencia fantástica: i have had 4 piercings done by them ( both eyebrows, side nose and vertical Labre) and they did a fantastic job they were so nice and it was an easy process getting my piercing done here. i’m not sure what her name is but one girl here has done all my piercing and she very sweet. she would talk me through the whole process and was very careful during the process. i have also taken all my friends here to get there piercings done which they all loved. the piercing all healed perfectly and beautifully. i always recommend people to go here!!

Experiencia negativa: I came up to this location thinking they knew what they were doing and they didn’t know what they were doing! i waited there for nearly a hour supposedly they were doing complicating piercing in the nose that took them 46 minutes to do! She finally comes to me to assist me she tells okay i will go clean this up for you comes back about 10 minutes later to tell me she couldn’t even take the piercing out of the package she supposedly bent it but she bent it back in place all she had to do was cut it out she probably didn’t know how to put the piercing in either.. because she was like i never put a piercing in someone’s nose like this one.. i sure hope the one at boulevard location knows what they are doing cus its a 30 minute drive from where i am.. so pissed! They lost a customer!

I was feeling very nervous about my eyebrow piercing and Blue gave me all the time I needed to calm down, walked me through everything that was happening, and did a great job. The shop also has an inviting environment and offers a comfortable space for piercing. Would recommend!

Experiencia fantástica: We cannot recommend RCT more for children’s ear piercings. There can be hesitation in a tattoo shop being “too scary” for young kids or an environment and personnel that do not care for children, but that is not the case here. It was a fun environment with well done, but tasteful artwork displaying the talents of the shop staff and they were so good with our daughter. They gave her a gift bag at the end with everything she needed to care for her ears and take pride and excitement in her first piercing experience complete with temporary tattoos and a piercing certificate. We took our first daughter to a different location for her earrings and it was a terrible, slightly traumatic experience. I wish we had known about RCT.

Experiencia negativa: Not the greatest experience here, I called before going to ask if they take walk-in’s, the person on the phone confirmed they do until 7:30pm. We drove 30 minutes to get there and arrived at 7pm, and once we told the person at the front desk that we want cross tattoos we were told that we’re too late and servicing us would cause them all to have to stay later.

The attention to detail and character he adds to them to make them “mine” and bring my visions to life is incredible! The Bible tattoo was done on a random Saturday as a “walk-in” and having never been tattooed by AJ before, I was nervous, but his work completely blew me away and I knew that I would be coming back! I went to the shop to show him my idea for the deer tattoo, hoping I could have it done the next day, but AJ wanted time to create the piece rather than throwing something together as a “walk-in”. We scheduled the appointment for two weeks later and I left the shop telling him, “I trust you to come up with something amazing” (and within my guidelines of some color but not too much, not too big but not too small, something that could be completed in one appointment.) Needless to say, he came through and exceeded my expectations. Go see him! You won’t be disappointed.

Experiencia fantástica: Very cute small spot in the back of the mall. Comfy open waiting area. Front desk girls are nice, will help you look around or consult you a bit on tattoos. You can tell everyone in there loved their jobs. A smaller young girl changed out my piercing, took less than 5 min! I got a nose piercing swap. Pricing was between $60-90 it looked like. Decent amount of jewelry displayed, organization isn’t all next to each other, so make sure you walk around. Would recommend.

We (a motley crew of 8, looking for 13 piercings) walked into this shop at the mall on a lazy Sunday afternoon a little unsure if: A) they could handle what we had to offer. Or: B) we could handle what they had to offer. We were trying to fill our time while waiting on the Megadeth/Mudvayne concert (that we found out was cancelled, mere hours before the gates open, but that's a whole other story) and just wanted to see what all we could get pierced. We walked in and we're surrounded by (literal) children who were smiling and excited to get their ears pierced and just glowing on cloud nine when they came out with their new bling saying stuff like " I still didn't feel anything" and "That didn't hurt at all!!

River city is the exact opposite - the environment is bright and welcoming, and I was taken aback by how kind everyone there was. Both times I've been this year, my service was prompt, professional, and with personable employees. Definitely the best place for an all around great experience, especially with something as delicate as body art.

Experiencia negativa: I wanted to wait to write a review, in case I was over-reacting in the moment, but now that enough time has passed I feel it appropriate to leave a review on how I was treated at this establishment by the two women who work the front. On June 29th, I came here for a 4th hole on my lobes. The receptionist (?) at the front told me that would be considered a helix. I was feeling my ear while talking to her and explaining that it felt like the area I wanted was more lobe, not cartilage. She got short with me, and was acting a little annoyed. I wasn’t trying to tell her how to do her job, just asking her to look at my ear. At this point another woman comes over, she’s the one with the long hair who was wearing a long flowy skirt. I wish I had gotten her name. The receptionist says “she’s here for helix, but she’ll tell you different” with an attitude. The woman with the long skirt just looks at me and says “that’s a helix. I’ve been doing this a long time.” Without even bothering to assess or look at my ear or hear what I was saying. Not that it mattered whether it was a lobe piercing or a helix, but listen to your customer, take the time to assess and address their concerns. Then while I was waiting for the piercer to call me, these two same women saw me typing on my phone and started laughing and said “she’s writing a review, quick apologize!” Just totally unprofessional and I will not be returning.

Everything was very clean, her instructions were very thorough, and the process itself was very quick and not painful.

I took my anxious but excited 10 year old to have her ears pierced, and the experience was top notch start to finish. Linzi could not have been better with my girl, talking her through every step and making her feel comfortable and brave. The room was very clean and all of the equipment was properly sterilized and stored. I wouldn’t take my kiddos anywhere else for piercings!!

I have had many piercings over the years, and they were the most knowledgeable, and through. They are a little more expensive than most places but it's worth it.

Maisie and Mikey put all of my daughter’s worries at ease and the process was clean, simple, and painless. We were so impressed will the cleanliness and efficiency of the piercing, and it is obvious that they are experts at what they do. Then a month later, when we had an incident where we lost an earring during camp, the staff at RCT rectified the issue quickly and Nigel was so wonderful with our family as well. Truly a great experience and will use them for any similar needs in the future, plus recommend to anyone else debating where to go!

I wanted the design of a ranunculus in a deep burgundy color. This was my wedding flower so I had very high expectations. AJ not only delivered on the design, but absolutely nailed the color. I will definitely be going to see him again and would recommend him!

Experiencia fantástica: I had my 7 year old daughter's ears repierced. She had originally had them done as a baby. Maisie was incredible. She was really sweet and kept my daughter calm and walked her through the whole process. They have a great package for kids ear piercing and take a lot of time with them. Maisie and Blue pierced both ears at the same time which makes it very quick and painless. They gave us everything we needed for aftercare and lots of instructions. And some fun little treats which made the experience even better for my daughter.
