Experiencia fantástica: I met Ben through my husband who has a full realistic Boba Fett arm sleeve. I needed a cover up done for a piece on my upper thigh. With ideas blazing, I knew I wanted something Lord of the Rings, Gamer, Forrest Fairie, World of Warcraft inspired. Ben helped me narrow it down and so far it is an incredible Lord of the Rings piece. We’ve had 2 sessions so far and I can safely say, he is both my husband and I’s only tattoo guy. Ben is a wonderful family man who runs his shop with strong conviction, honesty, pride, and honor. The shop is clean, and they even have a cool spiral staircase! Ben is your man if you want a high quality tattoo that is a true piece of art.

Ben Kelly helped me through the process of what I was looking for, and the end result is even better than what I could have imagined! The studio itself is really nice, very clean and welcoming. Ben was very educational, kind, and made my first tattoo experience wonderful. We chatted away while he worked and before I knew it, it was done! He very thoroughly explained the aftercare process and answered any questions my parents or I had. 10/10 will definitely be coming back for my next one and can't recommend this place enough!!

I emailed the owner Mr. Ben Kelly about the type of tattoo I was considering back in April and came in during the shop's consultation hour on a weekday. There are multiple artists available for you to consult with based on the type of design/style you are looking for. I paid my deposit and then started on my tattoo the end of July. Ben is professional and has a calming presence that put me at ease during my tattoo. The shop is immaculate in terms of cleanliness which is one of the big things I look for prior to booking any tattoo services. Location is in a beautiful part of Historic Savannah with street parking available and a nearby garage. My next tattoo appt to finish up this piece is later this week. I would 100% get another tattoo done by Red Ocean!

Experiencia fantástica: I cannot recommend a place more than this one!! They are absolutely phenomenal! Shain is the artist currently working on my leg sleeve and he is an amazing artist. I put all my trust in him for this leg sleeve and he exceeded my expectations! It’s super peaceful and comforting coming here for a tattoo. All the artists that were there came to chat and the owner Ben was super kind and came to chat too. They make you feel at home. Experiencia negativa: Drove almost 3 hours today to meet with Ben during the only 1 hour of the day that they consult. I did try setting up an appointment for this several weeks ago but was told that the noon to 1 pm is what is available. Was also told several weeks ago that the wait is almost 6 months as he is booked up that far in advance. We accepted this and after seeing his work took this as expected. My wife and I went in to discuss having 2 cover ups done. My wife had a clear idea and direction that she wanted to go with both tattoos. Right from the start Ben seemed that he was not interested in doing the work. He had asked us how many others have quoted us work for these pieces and mentioned that he was booked for the next 6 months. We explained that we understood this and were accepting this and even explained that we came to him because of his work that we have seen. This seemed to stroke his ego enough to actually talk about the work. He took a picture of one of the pieces that was to be covered up and he started mocking up a sketch over on a tablet. He repeated that my wife's direction would not work and continued to push in a different direction. We then shifted to the other cover up. When discussing the concept, we laid out a clear direction. He took the image of the cover up and started to sketch over this as well. what he started to sketch out was a clear sign that he was not listening to my wife. We tried to meet in the middle and state that he could design something and between now and the 6 months, we could look and what he came up with and go from there. He shot this down and said that he doesn't work on pieces for months. He has 5 kids and a life. This gave the impression that we should accept his design, what he comes up with and that would be the end of the story. He then asked how big she wanted it and stated that he really only works on larger pieces. At this point, we had only spent maybe 10 minutes with he and my wife was done. She left the shop while I finished listening to Ben's comments about the work and his ideas. He mentioned that he had availability in July and in September. I found it odd that the 6 months was now down to 2-4 months. He mentioned that he would require a deposit for each tattoo which I found reasonable and then he said that he charges 250 an hour and one piece would be 4 hours and the other around 1. He then went back and forth about getting it done in 1 session but maybe 2. At this point I was just trying to politely exit. I completely understand that a tattoo artist is an artist in the respect that they create art. But a huge difference is that a tattoo artist creates a piece for a client, for a price. They do not create the art then try to sell it to a customer. Ben seems to be talented by what work he has done but he is very quick to push away ideas that are not his own. Like I said earlier. We only spent 10 minutes with him, but I can say for certain, it will be the only 10 minutes.

Ben was promptly waiting for my arrival and provided a very friendly and personal touch to his services. He did an amazing job, finished the sleeve in 6 sessions even though we booked 8, and is so much fun to talk with! During my 6 sessions I saw all the other artists turn out great work as well. At this shop you could find an artist to do almost any style tattoo you'd want. I knew I wanted a sleeve with a dragon and samurai on it but I had no specific design in mind. I set up a consultation with Ben and let him do his magic. I gave him the theme I was looking for and he came with the design and it’s turning out way better than anything I could’ve came up with alone. Everybody I’ve met so far is really nice and I love the vibes of this place. I came into this with little experience to tattoos and they are very patient and knowledgeable with every question that I have. The shop is very clean and you can tell they are all professionals and take their craft seriously. I've had my back and sleeve done at Red Ocean by Ben Kelly and it has been an awesome experience every session. Ben is a very talented artist both with tattooing and his paintings, and has done great work covering up a shoulder piece I had done several years back. During sessions he's always personable and down to chat about books, shows, life, etc., which definitely helps with sitting through the more painful areas. I've only had the pleasure of working with Ben so far, but everyone else at the shop I've spoken to has been welcoming and down to talk about various tattoo ideas. And of course, they are all very knowledgeable in their craft. Highly recommend!

Experiencia fantástica: 2nd sleeve I've gotten here from Ben. On my first one, he perfectly worked with the tattoo on my upper arm. No one can even tell they were 2 separate tattoos. I came to him for the full sleeve on my other arm. I told him my idea, left him to his artistic methods, and he's created an absolutely beautiful piece that was better than anything I could dream up. He's also a pleasure to sit with and talk to throughout the process. Scheduling him has always been worth the wait and I won't go anywhere else.

I met Ben Kelly and knew immediately he was the right choice. Ben did a superb job and my daughter is beautifully memorialized on my arm. Experiencia fantástica: Great customer service and down to earth people. The negative reviews I have seen all seem to be by snobby people that haven’t bothered to pay attention that there is a consult hour every day and the rest of the time the artists are tattooing and can’t just stop to attend each potential customer that comes through the door. I booked in February and my sessions started in October. I’m not sure if this wait time is true for all of the artists or just mine in particular but it didn’t bother me and gave me time to save. Ben was my guy, I went to him through a recommendation and I wasn’t disappointed. I’ve also viewed the other artists’ work and they are all great. I’ve been to other shops in the area but I will be returning here for any future work.

Experiencia negativa: Was looking for a bright/colorful tattoo and Ben Kelly assured me the he could make it happen. When he showed me the draft I let him know what I wanted changed and again he assured me he would take care of it during our first appointment. The tattoo is now “done” and is extremely dark and is nothing like we discussed. People cannot tell what it is or supposed to be and I looks like a brown glob. I told him about my concerns after our last session and he said he would continue to work until it is correct. It’s been 7 months since then and he will not return my messages. I now have to pay $1500 to another artist to correct his mistakes. Bottom line, the dude bit off more than he could chew instead on saying the work is above his level or artistry.

This being my 1st tattoo I was not very knowledgeable he put my mind at ease and offered some suggestions for me. I had my own design in mind and we talked about how this would be applied. A couple of weeks later I showed up for my session he explained thoroughly about the pain involved, after care and what to expect over the course of my tattoo. He took what I wanted done and came up with a design that covered the existing tattoo so well that you don’t even notice the old tattoo. I'm a professional illustrator so I was nervous to put my trust in someone to do a super-detailed piece because I was terrified no one would be able to capture the vision I had in my head and that I wouldn't like the [very permanent] end result!! But Brandon's work speaks for itself so I knew I was in good hands. Brandon is so talented and his skill and attention to detail absolutely shined in the final result - my tattoo is just over a year old now and it is just as beautiful today as it was when I first got it. She designed my tattoo based on the description of what I wanted and she was very knowledgeable about technique. She has an honest and friendly personality. This was my first tattoo and she did such an amazing job covering my forearm with beautiful flowers that I now want another. All of the artists at Red Ocean were friendly when I visited. Red Ocean has a very well rounded team of artists that have many different skill sets and styles. I highly recommend stopping by Red Ocean and looking at the artist portfolios!

They will be very honest with you if they don’t think their style is a match for the style of work you’re looking for. Mareva is amazing and does beautiful feminine style work, but is capable of much more than just that genre. Got my first tattoo here and am very happy with the work. Mareva did my second tattoo as well (last photo)

First off, the website is very welcoming and did NOT give me the sense that they were after my money. Ben Kelly, my tattoo artist provided me with his professional opinion of the side piece I wanted to get. He clarified for me ALL of my questions and provided a thorough reasoning of his explanations. The team at Red Ocean gets along VERY well. We as, clients observe that and it says something about the company culture. Everyone is so kind, understanding, and extremely Knowledgeable in their respective line of work. The team complements one another and provides you with the best expertise in the Savannah area. The tattoo took several sessions and Ben consistently paid attention to my comfort level and kept me informed of the progress. The final work is a piece of art with my rib cage as the canvas. SiK!!! Experiencia positiva: Went in on a Tuesday for a walk in consult for a cover up of an old tattoo. Lily had a cancellation the following day, and was able to work with my ideas to design something before my afternoon appointment on Wednesday. She’s a sweet, very talented artist with open communication while figuring out the design. I would recommend Lily at Red Ocean. I was so tempted to schedule another before I left just seeing some of her original designs! As far as the shop itself- everyone I interacted with was welcoming. All of their work looks amazing. The only negative I could say is that the bathrooms could have been cleaner.

I found him on FB and went through all his work and knew he would be the one to do my next tattoo. finally in April of 2019 i was able to get to the shop as i live several hours away, talked with Ben for a bit and started scheduling my sleeve. He was booked solid for several months but i knew he was the one i wanted to get my next tattoo from. been trough one session so far have 3 or four more to go. and they cant come soon enough. I am a former Navy Submariner and I really wanted something that would pay homage to my time in service but also be fun and feminine. Lily was very helpful in my consultation and also when I modified my design last minute. She was very patient with me while I figured out placement and was very professional and welcoming. After my tattoo was complete she explained how to care for it and sent me home with an adorable personalized little care packet (not pictured - a packet of a+d ointment). Experiencia fantástica: This is quite late as I got my first ever tattoo from Red Ocean back in January, but a recent more poor experience with a tattoo artist elsewhere made me really appreciate how amazing the people at Red Ocean are. Lilly was fantastic, consult hours were quick and easy, and all the other artists were very nice during the brief interactions I had with them. My tattoo is entirely line art, and all of the lines are super clean. I could not be happier with my artist or the service and I look forward to getting more tattoos from here in the future.

From what I could find, he is the only artist that specializes in realism in the general area. Walking into his shop, the energy is really clean and positive and the staff is all so friendly and down to earth. When I showed Ben the image that I wanted for my tattoo, his face lit up so I felt confident in moving forward with booking my session with him. He is booked out quite far, which I hope doesn't turn anyone off, because that just proves how good he is at what he does. During the process, he is very friendly and talkative and even set the mood by putting on The Labyrinth for me to watch since that is what inspired my piece. He and everyone else there made me feel very comfortable. He works very quickly and does so much with his time; I am extremely impressed that he got it done in under 5hrs. Oh, and did I mention it's a cover-up?? The final product is absolutely amazing and something I will cherish for the rest of my life. Experiencia fantástica: Lily is awesome! While on vacation in Savannah my wife and I decided to see if we could get the tattoos we've been planning. I emailed Lily about 6:30 pm, explaining the tattoo and what it represents. I assumed we would be out of luck, and it would impossible to get an appointment. She emailed me back sometime after midnight telling me she thought she could fit us in. After emailing back and forth, we dediced on 4:30. Fortunately for us, her appointment before us was a no-show and we got in earlier. We were gracious she was able to fit us in. We learned while there that she was at a show, and just got back home when she emailed me at 12:30am. She was going to recommend a different tattoo shop to us. She could have easily done so and I would have totally understood. But something told her to schedule us. Maybe she liked our story, or how much it'd mean to us to have this done while in Savannah. Either way, I'm glad she did. We're very happy with the changes she recommended and love the final result. Our daughter loves them as well. Thanks Lily for going above and beyond. I hope we can get some more work done next time we're in town.
