Experiencia positiva: I got my first tattoo done by Adrienne. She was amazing and made me feel very comfortable with it. I’d totally recommend this shop and Adrienne to anyone. Update: I’ve been wanted to come back since I got my tattoo about a month ago now and get it touched up and darker. Adrienne isn’t the best at replying so if you only have a couple hours off you need to ask her well in advance if she has openings. She also decided to change her pricing on a custom design I sent her. She went from 180-200 up to 250 for the same design about a week after I had first asked her.

Experiencia negativa: Called to ask about a walk in and i expressed im a single mom trying to get my sons name and there stepdad whose on active duty done as a surprise. This was spontaneous and i had my kids since im all they have as a gardian,they are always w me. I even said its fine if i couldnt come but i was told to come in! & they had time and could help me get 2 small names. I got to the shop to a sign out front advising to be patient as a walkin(basically stating theyre not rushing to be on your time as they could be working with others)-understandable and i was willing to wait as i understood i was a walkin but also i called to make sure i wasnt going to be long and and to confirm the availability as it was last minute w kids!! I was ready or willing to be out of the shop by 930/945 since i arrived at 8 that should've been ample amount of time for two small names... A piercer came from back after being in front for maybe 5mins she greeted me and shows the waiver and aays she was going to let the piercer know i was here and ready cause he was outside smoking. Again i was patient and said thats fine no problem i get it ppl need breaks but i did have kids w me so i thought theyd keep that in consideration.... I arrived at 8:04pm and waited till 8:36 in the lobby. As the dude stood outside clearly watching us in the lobby , taking his time outside with two other friends , smoking, chillin, till i decided 32 mins was long enough and i could've at least been acknowledged by this time, the guy said nothing to us . even when we walked out . As i got in my car , he proceeded to walk in the business.. i guess he was finally done or wasn't trying to make money. What kinda service was this? I would've rather and appreciated them tell me on the phone, before I came in that they would prefer appointments so i'm not in a rush or waiting for thirty minutes in the night before closing. Like why even have accepted my business if the artist doesnt care about the customers. Its fine ill make an appointment at a place that values customer service and doesnt discriminate or inconvenience mothers on purpose. Don't accept business you don't want terds!

Experiencia fantástica: I went for my first piercing today, outside of my ears. My piercer, forgive if I spell wrong, was Ronnie, and they were so amazing. Me and my partner had two different piercing needs and they were incredibly knowledgeable and personable. Absolutely amazing experience. They immediately recognized that I swell a significant amount, and had the wherewithal to mention that I would need to come in again for a bigger bar

Experiencia negativa: I got a belly button piercing here and I thought it was going well until the piercing started to embedded into my skin. The bellybutton piercing was not properly placed and I feel that they didn’t take my anatomy to consideration and give me a longer bar for the piercing. I didn’t go back and they did give me a longer piercing free of charge however, the damage was already done. It left major scarring and a keloid. I followed all their piercing care instructions like cleaning it with saline solutions, not going swimming, not touching it, Using unscented soap, etc. if you’re considering a bellybutton piercing, perhaps go to another location.

Experiencia positiva: I’ve come here more than once for piercings. I like their piercers, they do a good job. But they’ve officially lost me as a customer. I wanted my second lobes done, and was quoted $80 with a “$10 discount for two”. So I went to Claire’s and got them done for $30 instead. Unfortunate that they’ve raised their prices so much, I got my lip and my tongue done here for a relatively reasonable price (maybe a little more on the expensive side but to be expected for a good piercer), but now, lobes for $80? Bummer.

Experiencia fantástica: As an artist and patron, I very highly recommend, but with any tattoo shop - do your research on artists! It’s PERMANENT. The two artists I trust with ALL of my tattoos (I am heavily tattooed), I met here 14 and 7 years ago. Caleb at Freaks has been tattooing me for a handful of years now and has always been so eager to work with me, deliver solid line work, saturation AND bedside manner/rapport, should you choose to want to talk to your artist like I do. That’s important to me as the person being stabbed unabashedly, lol, but Rule #1: Respect your artist. The staff up front is NOT what sells the place, so try to overlook them and take the necessary steps to make an appointment or to be seen beyond them like you came to in the first place. It’s the artists like Caleb and their lovely piercer Cara, that keep me coming here!

Once I got the new jewelry from Freaks off Broadway the area started to swell became sore and red. Never had this issue before with my original jewelry. Should’ve left when I saw they keep all their jewelry in a storage box MIXED TOGETHER, don’t even sterilize their jewelry

Experiencia negativa: NOSE piercing review. I don’t recommend going here for a piercing. I went here for my SECOND nose piercing. The price is affordable and the staff was friendly . But I had to take my nose piercing out because it KEPT getting infected. I did NOT have this issue with my first piercing (I got it in Michigan though so I had to go elsewhere now that I’m in KC). Also .. they only pierce with a specific kind of jewelry . They don’t do flat backs. They make you use the L shaped one then say u can change it later. Again.. this was not an issue with my first piercing . I was able to get a flat back .. it healed just fine with no issues. I was given proper aftercare instructions etc. The piercer I had (in Michigan) I could tell was VERY knowledgeable. She knew what she was doing. I wasn’t given aftercare instructions here or anything. The fact that it kept getting infected makes me question the jewelry. Just because someone has a piercing already does not mean you shouldn’t give aftercare instructions etc. The staff is nice but they could use improvement in the piercing department. Now I have to find someone else to pierce my nose again..

During the hole tattoo process he asked if I was okay and we talked about many things that keep my mind off what was going on. I got a tattoo of a butterfly and I will go back for my other butterfly on my other shoulder.

Experiencia fantástica: I decided one day that it was time for my next tattoo. It was a Saturday and I had little hope anyone would have time or any openings, I thought i'd have to make an appointment and wait for my next day off. I didn't want to, but I would if I had to. We came in at around 7:30pm as a walk in, asking for a sword with a crown around it on my arm, it took a while before they could get to me, but the lady who did my tattoo adjusted it how I needed and got me back just before closing. I am very happy with my tattoo, very happy with my service- yes, the wait was annoying (an hour and a half) but that was my fault entirely for doing a walk in on a Saturday evening! I will be going back when I need this colored in!!

Experiencia fantástica: I recently went here on a spontaneous whim to get my septum pierced. I’ve wanted it for a while and I called and they accepted walk ins. First off I was happy that they accepted walk ins cause I had so much trouble finding a place, we had to go a little out of our way here. The guy at the front desk was super nice, and Patrick was even nicer. He explained how he was going to do it, showed me all the instruments he was gonna use, cleaned my septum, placed the clamps and was super gentle. I personally was proud of myself for not freaking out, and it really didn’t hurt that bad. He put the piercing in, which was just another small pinch, and then went over aftercare with me. He was funny and honestly for being someone with bad social anxiety, it felt super easy to talk to him. I will definitely be going back for more piercings with Patrick, and I 100% recommend this place for piercings.

Experiencia negativa: I got a tattoo from Abbi in January. I asked for a pretty simple design with two block lettered words, one on each knee. She seemed really annoyed and skeptical of the design the entire time. When she asked what my budget was I said around 120 and she said no problem, but then asked what my max was and I said 150. I genuinely didn’t think a tattoo that ended up being 40 minutes would cost me $150. I know I got the tattoo in a sensitive spot, but the use of a single needle made it so much worse. The lines are shakey, the spacing isn’t even, and the words are missing ink in so many spots from improper shading. I’ve come here for probably 7 piercings from Cara and loved every other experience but this one. I’m super disappointed and honestly wish I hadn’t of come here for this tattoo.

Experiencia negativa: They’re fine for simple things. Got my nipple piercings done here and the bar was too short for healing and my left nipple piercing was crooked. Could’ve told me my anatomy wasn’t right or that you didn’t have a bar that would fit my anatomy. But my ear piercing healed fine

Experiencia fantástica: I was just in there yesterday for a lip piercing and Patrick was so amazing. He made sure to walk me through the entire process before he did anything and he even measured where to put the piercing and double checked that I was ok with the placement before piercing too. When he actually gave me the piercing he walked me through it again as he was doing it and I only felt a pinch. I am so happy with it and I dont think I'll go anywhere else for piercings in the future. Thank you Patrick!

Experiencia fantástica: Perfect place to pop into if your in town for the weekend. I gathered a group of friends to get piercings and a small tattoo. Everything was streamlined and professionally done. The 5 of us were in and out within an hour as walk in clients. Ronnie did all the piercings and was incredibly thoughtful and calm, they guided us and made sure we were comfortable, also put up with my incessant questions haha. Everything was priced so affordably, I should've gotten more!

For reference, we had Cara do our piercings and she was amazing. We were able to do a walk-in but it honestly just depends on how busy and late in the day you go. Experiencia fantástica: I have visited Freaks for tattoos and piercings on occasion over the last several years. I walked in last night with an idea for a couple of small tattoos. Everyone was friendly, very casual environment. Brett was my artist and he was great; he took the time to explain better placement for what I wanted and why. I felt completely comfortable and he was very easy to chat with while he worked. I will absolutely be back (hopefully soon) and will definitely be requesting services with Brett! Thanks again!

Experiencia negativa: I had to get my nose repierced 5 times bc the hook backing they used kept coming out and the flat backing they tried fell out in the shower. I kept getting massive infections for 6 months. I went to radiant piercing and they said I needed a titanium stud which freaks doesn’t provide. You should always use titanium or else you risk bad infection. As soon as they put a titanium stud in everything healed nicely. I did end up with a small scar on my nose do to all of the infections from the non titanium stud that freaks provided

Experiencia fantástica: I thought I wrote a review but I don't see it. I've had piercings done here and they've been helpful as well very professional. One of mine I got all rainbow and lost a ball bearing and they fixed it with no questions asked. They're very helpful with wound care and very quick! I greatly appreciate them.

Experiencia negativa: Okay, so I have had probably like four done here from two separate artists. One of them was super flaky and kept saying he would touch up one of mine and then eventually ghosted me and it’s SO faded and has healed so badly compare to all of my others even though I took care of it. I had another artist that was super fun and I actually loved his personality but the tattoo he gave me looks unfortunately so bad :( The shading is so muddy and so many of the lines faded after just a week. I felt like this shop just rushes to take as many people as they can for profit rather than giving truly quality tattoos. I have heard several things from other artists around the area about having to touch up tattoos from here. (Side comment: I heard a girl coming in and she wanted a spine tattoo and seemed super nervous about it and the artist almost shamed her. They said something along the lines of “Do you want that tattoo or something people will actually thing is cool?” to the young girl after she showed the reference photo. I honestly have anxiety and something like that would’ve truly made me feel awful. I understand working in the field, you’re able to see tattoos that are seemingly “basic” but if someone likes it why does it matter. So incredibly condescending.) All in all I would absolutely not recommend getting a tattoo here unfortunately especially not a walk-in.

All of them were great with a special shout out to Ryan for his work on my project. They are accommodating, the work is original and everything is clean!! Would recommend this over any other shop I have been to!!

Experiencia fantástica: So I went with my friend on a whim, she wanted to pierce her other nostril, I decided to re pierce mine, since it’s been 10 plus years since I had one in. We went in as a walk-in on Saturday. Our wait was about an hour and a half , which isn’t bad, and whoever was handling the front desk was hilarious, so it made the time fly by. We had Cara and she was awesome. She also let me know my nose wasn’t closed and just charged me for jewelry. All in all it was a great experience, and I highly recommend this place.

Experiencia negativa: RACIST! I went in looking for a specific design and was referred to Caleb, who’s demeanor is very rude. He showed me one variation. Which I revised. He then went in the back and drew a different design, he came out with a racist “caricature” of a person of color. With VERY EXAGGERATED FEATURES. Like so obvious it was over the top! Will never go to this shop again, and I will not support any business who upholds this kind of behavior.

Experiencia fantástica: My daughter and I showed up as walk-ins for tattoos. The people at the front desk were very friendly and quoted our wait time to be pretty right on. Brett drew up what we wanted and was totally ok with the few minor changes we asked for before the stencil. Since we both got the same tattoo, he put both stencils on before he started the tattoos to make sure they both looked good on the spots we wanted. He was so friendly and professional and we are both incredibly happy with the results! Brett was absolutely amazing and we could not have had a better experience!

Experiencia negativa: I went in yesterday to have my forward helix changed because the bar was too short and my ear was swollen. After many attempts the piercer got a new ring in it I asked for help with something to clean my ear off. While I was still in the piercing booth the piercer left to eat, came back in asked why I was still there, to which I replied "I need something with saline so I can clean this blood off my ear" and I was using the mirror to change my Tragus piercing . I asked for something with saline on it three times and never got it . Also the piercer is heavy handed but that's just my opinion

Experiencia fantástica: It was a good experience. It was weekend when I was at the place and it was a busy day and we had a wait time of almost 1.5 hrs. But the tatoo artist was polite and he did a good job. They did take care of all the precautions from changing the needles,using fresh gloves

Experiencia fantástica: Got my nose pierced here last month and he did an amazing job it was my first piercing besides the basic ear piercing, he was totally understanding. It’s been healing up no issues and just the expected soreness the first few days. I highly recommend them and will definitely go back!

Experiencia negativa: I went in to get my nipples pierced about two weeks ago while on a vacation and while my piercer was VERY kind and attentive to my pain level, mine...are crooked, by a noticeable degree. He did it freehanded, which i didn't have much issue with as he seemed to mark them properly and seemed to know what he was doing. (The healing process is going great, so they're not swollen. I waited until they looked back to normal to judge) I also just felt rushed a lot of the time, as they were busy, but I'd rather they told me they were too busy to take walk ins rather than not take their time and ensure my piercings would look their best. I'm happy to have it done, but a bit disappointed as I was handed an aftercare sheet and shuffled to pay. I may have wanted to get them done...but just say you're busy, y'all.

Experiencia negativa: DO NOT USE THIS SHOP I came by here 2 years ago payed a cash deposit with James who worked here at the time he was rude did nothing but talk down at what I wanted, I said I was open minded but he was very negative, I gave him a chance to draw a design he later sent me and it was absolutely terrible. Then I had a person recommend Caleb, I then found he worked at freaks I came in again with an open mind told him my ideas and yet again dull attitude, rude, this shop has a PR problem big time completely negative environment what a disgrace for a tattoo shop.

Experiencia fantástica: 3 days ago Abi did wonderful work on a paw print of my late best friend. I am beyond satisfied with how it turned out , very nicely done outlines and amazing shading.

Experiencia positiva: Spontaneous trip with my friend. We got small matching tattoos and they turned out GREAT. Super small and dainty. Caleb was awesome- but 10000% upped the price last minute. He’s very monotone so our personalities clashed a bit. I don’t regret it at all, but I would never come back. I’ll stick to the place and artist I have back home.

And she took the time to answer all the questions I had afterwards. It was 100% worth the wait. I'm from out of town but visit frequently and I would absolutely come back here. They don't do appointments for piercings, it's first come first serve. So be prepared to wait on busy days. We went in on a Saturday and had to wait an hour and a half.

Experiencia fantástica: I had a walk in naval piercing. They got to me fairly quickly and efficiently. They have me it quick and easy but was understanding to my nervousness. My guy explained everything in detail of what he was going to do. And after it was all done he gave me a care sheet and sent me on my way! Easy and great service!

Experiencia negativa: Had to wait an hour and a half for a jewelry change, which I typically wouldn't mind if the piercer was worth it. This is NOT the case, she is SOOOO unprofessional. After waiting for an hour for the piercer to finish with the two, yes two, patrons ahead of me she finally pulled me back into her booth and asked that I give her a minute to "get a bite of soup." 20 minutes go by of me sitting, waiting in her booth for her to return, mind you, I can hear her laughing and giggling on the other side of the wall. When she finally did bother to return I handed her two nose rings and told her which one I would like her help putting in, which she confirmed and repeated my selection back to me. She takes all of 5 minutes to put my nose ring in, I look in the mirror.. it's the wrong effing nose ring. You could not pay me to come back. Beyond disappointing.

Experiencia negativa: Was waiting for a piercing and watched a tattoo artist talk to a client in the most disrespectful manner. I could understand what the client wanted from across the room, and the artist rudely said “do you even speak English?” And then proceeded to tell the client his concept was basically unworthy of his time. The tattoo had some sentimental meaning to his family, and the utter disrespect the artist showed the client was unacceptable.

Experiencia negativa: I’ve came here multiple times on Sundays for piercings and have never had a bad experience. Whatever piercer they have come in on Mondays showed up to work at 4:30 pm after we were told she would be in at 2. We have waited here for over an hour waiting to get pierced, and we were told it would be a 20 minute wait. Absolutely never coming in here again after this experience. Super unprofessional on not only the piercers part for being late, but for the girl behind the counter for not being honest with us on the wait time. I also am witnessing a tattoo artist be very aggressive with people wanting a tattoo because they don’t speak English. Absolutely unprofessional, ignorant, and disrespectful. Would not recommend coming in to this shop.

Experiencia fantástica: I was freaking out about having my first nose piercing but they walked me through it and made me feel so at ease. They didn't make me feel bad for feeling freaking out and it was very well priced. The guy was so friendly too!

Experiencia fantástica: I just got my nose pierced for my 37th Birthday and it was such an amazing experience just as it always has been but Shay did great all around. I got my backpiece here when I was 19 or 20 and it is still beautiful. I also got a nice piece on my arm a few months ago from Brett. Freaks has been a part of my life from my teens through my 30s. Great artists. Awesome piercers. Very clean environment and a professional staff that is friendly.

Experiencia fantástica: I had a bad experience getting my septum pierced somewhere else, so I called Freaks on Broadway for advice. They were awesome and told me to come in and they would help me take out the crooked piercing. Super nice, clean, and gentle and gave me advice on where to go if I want to get it re-pierced once it heals.

Experiencia positiva: My friend and I recently came here for her first tattoo. She wanted to just do a walk-in and I had told her we would be waiting for a little bit but we agreed it was fine. We got there at 1 (2 hours after opening) and didn’t leave until 7:40pm. We waited hours to be taken upstairs to have the artist sketch out our ideas. Everyone was very nice and talkative so I feel if we had an appointment we would’ve had a much better time. However I had also wanted to get my double lobe piercing done and when we had first got there and told them what we wanted done he recommended that I get my piercing done after my tattoo and I said sure whatever I don’t really care. However after waiting hours on end just to go up and have my tattoo done and come back downstairs to have my piercing done and being told that I have to wait again for the new walk-in piercings I was annoyed. I had been there all day, at which point they could’ve done my piercing as I waited for the tattoo or very least I shouldn’t have had to be put at the bottom of list since I had been there since 1. They also had what seemed to be some friends come in for a walk-in that got to jump to the front of the line. I understand a wait for walk-ins but almost 8 hours?! Without really updating us so we could know how much time we had so we could go eat considering we were starving by the time we got our tattoos. Definitely could’ve been better. Like I said everyone was very nice and did a good job other than these issues. TLDR; don’t try and go in for a walk-in here.

Experiencia fantástica: I was super nervous to get my nose and helix pierced, but everyone was super patient with any questions I had. They only do walk-ins, but I was able to stop by over my lunch hour without issue. I really like how the piercings turned out and would highly recommend!

Experiencia fantástica: Did my nose piercing today! Let me tell you this guy is super amazing, it was a lady there with him learning she was super sweet too! I didn’t feel any pain, he was so fast! Everything was perfect and beyond expectations! Thank you so much for everything!! Super recommended to anyone!! ❤️❤️❤️

Experiencia negativa: I went in knowing it was a walk in and had no problem waiting my turn with only 3 people in front of me. Thought it was frustrating that they let two girls in in front of the line after waiting for them to get their tattoos done first. Then to find out that they skipped over me completely and didn’t make any attempt to make it right. Just told me I would be up soon after already waiting over two hours. Terrible customer service.

Experiencia fantástica: Went to get my nose pierced they were decently priced Paulie the piercer is great super nice super friendly does a great job had my nose pierced for 11 years before I got the second one on the other side and paulie took the time to make sure that it was exactly in the same placement as the other side. Super happy! I’ll be returning

Experiencia fantástica: I got my septum pierced by Paulie and he was so great! I was really nervous but he was super reassuring and didn’t make me feel silly for being nervous and he joked around with my and my friend the whole time and made the experience great. The guy at the front desk was kind of frustrating cuz I was a walk in and I was super prepared to wait but he didn’t give me any type of eta or tell me my place in line or prices of the piercing snd I tried to ask but he straight up didn’t respond and ignored me and went back to flirting with one of the other waiting customers so that was awkward. But Pauli was really great and I’m going to go back for future piercings because of him

Experiencia positiva: Even though I have several piercings and have kept them all in good shape the guy who peirced my ear was condescending about the question I asked. Btw the question was just "how long should I clean it for?" Not something stupid and not something that is out of the ordinary. The piercing itself was good but I won't be back.
