Negative experience: VERY BAD SERVICE! I tried coming in to get a piercing not only did she turn me down, but when I tried to buy the jewelry she told me that she will not sell me a jewelry unless I pierce with them. Seems like my business is not wanted here. Also, I don’t understand if the jewelry is $25 why is she charging me $75 to pierce?

Fantastic experience: I had four ear piercings put in by Shae. Their staff answered all of my questions beforehand. The procedure was sanitary and professional. The price was better than the other piercing shop I checked out. I'm very happy with the placement and Shae made it nearly pain free. The vibes and music were good. I amused my wife and the staff by declining to look at the piercings when they were done. I looked about an hour later and I love them.

I have gotten several other cartilage piercings at multiple locations and I’ve had the best experience with this one in particular. It has been two weeks, and I haven’t even had any pain or inflammation!

Fantastic experience: went in for an impromptu eyebrow piercing about an hour before closing, with no appointment. i wasnt sure if theyd people able to fit me in but they got me in and out no problem! the receptionist was very sweet and so was my piercer, katie. i highly suggest going in and getting pierced by her, she kept me calm and talked me through the whole process. all in all very happy & would suggest :)

Negative experience: the worst customer service you can imagine. I don't know if it's all the people who work in this place, but the receptionist didn't even let me speak and had a terrible attitude. I can't even see the artists' work, why does this lady serve you in a terrible way? I definitely wouldn't back to this place just because of the receptionist. There are probably good artists working here but if they serve you this way just for asking if they are open or not. They should definitely improve customer service.

Negative experience: I HAD THE WORST EXPERIENCE HERE TODAY! Be careful who you let pierce you. I’ve been pierced here 3 times. Great experiences each of those times with either Sarah or Katie. Today was completely different, a horrible experience. I came into to get my nostril jewelry changed, I was serviced by SHEA who I have never met before. We get into the room and I explain to Shea that I want to change my jewelry because I think I’m having a bad reaction to my current jewelry and my piercing has become infected & painful. She giggled and says “Yeah” which I thought was very odd considering that she is a piercer and didn’t look at my piercing or even offer to tips to help it heal. She didn’t offer anything. I brush that off. She then proceeds to remove my jewelry and I immediately started wincing and my eyes were watering because it was extremely painful. She was handling my nose so roughly even though I mentioned it was painful. She is struggling to get my jewelry out with her hands (no tools!!) She stops and I asked her if my jewelry was out, she tells me no and grabs something then is finally able to remove my jewelry. I was in so much pain. She then grabs my new jewelry and is putting it in and once again she’s struggling to get it in and being EXTREMELY rough and not telling me what is going on at all. At this point it hurts more than actually getting my nose pierced. You would think she would be more gentle considering the information I gave her when I first came in. So I’m just sitting there in extreme pain to the point that I asked her if we can stop for a second because it hurts that bad. She tells me “One second it’s almost in” Are you kidding me??? She gets the hoop in and lets me go and tells me to let her know when she can close it. I asked her for a tissue for my watery eyes and she told me she did not have any??? Unbelievable! I was starting to feel light headed and my whole left side of my face was hurting. She asked me if I was okay and I told her no i feel light headed. I sat there taking deep breaths until I could tolerate her tugging on my visibly bloody and inflamed nose. She closed the hoop and I sat there until I felt safe to get up. I look in the mirror and there is blood all over my nose. I asked for something to clean my nose up and she tells me there is saline solution available at the front for $8. I clarified that I just wanted something to wipe the blood from my nose and she tell me no i don't have anything it’s probably best to just leave it alone! How can you tell me that you don’t have anything to clean blood in a tattoo and piercing shop I have been here before and have never left bloody after a piercing appointment. Matter of fact, I know I have been wiped off after being pierced because I was just here a week and a half ago. It’s been about 1.5 hours since I left and my nose is still throbbing. That was absolutely the WORST experience I have ever had regarding piercings. Do not book with her.

Fantastic experience: I have been coming here for 20 years (possibly with a large gap in there) for tattoos and piercings. This shop is extremely clean and professional. Everyone there always makes me feel welcome when I come in for an appointment. I've been using Baby Jack for over a year now and he is always great at making my ideas come to life on my skin, usually without me even giving him any visuals

Negative experience: All of my piercings I have gotten here have been crooked. The stencil dots looked even, after asking for them to be moved like 10 times, but then once pierced they now look uneven/crooked. I got both nipples pierced, crooked. The side of my nose pierced, not even with the other side. And I just got my other eyebrow pierced and it is not even with the other one. It is also badly bruised, which had never happened to me before with the 13 other piercings I have. I am not surprised it is bruising, as the piercer spent a long time fidgeting with it and I noticed her hands shaking a bit. SUPER sweet lady and great prices which is why I went back multiple times. Coming back after not being super happy with the results is on me though!

Fantastic experience: Excellent! I walked in without having an appointment, and everyone was very attentive and friendly. The artist was so patient and took time to help me figure out the placement of my tattoo. He copied EXACTLY the script I brought in.

Negative experience: I've been going for 20 years and went yesterday and got a small tattoo NO shading at all 6 cursive small letters and it's messed up and way over charged me 140$ I'll NEVER go back

Fantastic experience: I got my nose piercing done here and it’s one of the only piercings on me that has not rejected and the studs are super cute. My sister then went for her belly button (shea did both) she was so sweet and made her feel comfortable and made sure she was happy with it before leaving. I then came back to get a beautiful memorial arm tat and Shawn did amazing he made the original pic look even better and I couldn’t be happier with it, can’t wait to come back for more!

Fantastic experience: Being raised in Columbus it was understood even in the 90's this shop was a place that was solid. I have been a customer here for over 5 years now and have nothing but great things to say. First, there is zero judgement for ideas that are brought up. You get real answers and perspectives on the artistic design. Next, it's comfortable. From the moment you stroll in, you are respected. I've watched a diverse community stroll in through my sessions. Each one is greeted with the same respect. Last, as a customer it doesn't have to be a one tattoo experience. As my life changed, so did the ink, yet the common denominator was the artist Carmelo and the other artists he surrounds himself with. There is a reason this shop has been around for years. That speaks volumes.

Fantastic experience: Carmelo is hands down one of the best tattoo artists ever! (Which is why his calendar can be booked 3 months out at most times.) My sister referred him to me & now I’ll only schedule tattoo appointments for my husband and myself with him…and we live in North Carolina! So I have to be sure to get an appointment with Carmelo (usually for my husband) every time we come home to visit now. He’s just that great!! I’d highly recommend him to anyone and everyone even thinking about getting a tattoo. Not only will you not be disappointed, it will be so much more than you could ever imagine!

Fantastic experience: Bodystain has been around since the late 80’s and still killing it with their artwork. As important as quality is, their shop is always clean, good atmosphere and every artist is friendly and passionate about what they do…that’s very important when choosing who to go to. I’ve known one of the artists for almost 20 years and he’s as genuine as they come, their prices are fair, I always have fun while I’m getting work done and never have I left unhappy. That’s what keeps me coming back!! 5 stars is not enough for this shop and it’s crew!

I just had my first piercing done here (only doing nostrils) and it was medical grade care. I was pierced by Sarah , who was so great. Gentle, honest funny & frankly, way cool. I will always go here for my tattoos & piercings. 4 stars always. I also always use BodyStain for my tattoos as well. All of the artists are brilliant & the tattoos are serious art. I never mind waiting & planning especially with the level of personal service you receive. Just the best. I've received two tats & two piercings.

Don’t expect to walk in and get tattooed same day, these guys are awesome artists and work on appointments, if they have a day free for walk ins the will let you know. I won’t work with any other shop in Columbus, and have many friends who feel the same. Honest, kind, professional, talented and patient. No place I’d rather go.

Negative experience: My friend and I came in the shop twice in one weekend trying to get a tattoo. The front desk lady was nice but they never seemed to have time to fit us in as a walk in which is understandable but when we asked if she could give us a time or appointment she made it seem as even that was not doable and she took down our phone numbers on a list that she had started for service and stated they would call us when they had time. It’s been about four weeks now and we have yet to receive a phone call. I understand if a walk in could not be taken at the time but we tried to set an appointment time and it felt as if we were blown off and told an appointment is not needed and to just keep checking back. When we came back the next day that is when our phone numbers were taken but as of now no call has been received. Edited to add my reply to the business owner’s response: I understand walk ins are not guaranteed which is why I stated in my first response that I completely understood not being seen when I walked in, but my problem is how it was handled. My friend and I were never instructed to visit your website to schedule an appointment with a deposit. We never have visited your website so we were not aware but I would think your employee would’ve mentioned it when we asked to make an appointment instead of making it appear as if we just have to keep checking back and then taking our phone number down stating we would get a call. We have already went to another studio and got our tattoos done there, but as a business I think it is important for your employees to be able to provide basic information as you provided in your response and not take down a phone number that they probably truly have no intent in using.

Most of my work has been done by Carmelo, and he has always been great to work with. He will take the time to work through ideas and ensure you are getting the best quality tattoo. His dedication to ensuring you walk out with a high quality piece of art, that will hold up over time, is the main reason I have been a repeat customer over the years.

Fantastic experience: This was the second time I have been tattooed at this shop. The first time was 12 years ago and by the same artist, Carmelo. And just like the first time I was greeted as soon as I walked in. The shop is extremely clean and very laid back. The artist worked with me and was very patient while we worked out the design that I had wanted for years. The end result of the design was spot on of what I've had in my mind that I wanted. The tattoo process was great. He was quick and left nice crisp lines. I have a couple more secession book to finish the work, but I love it already. The owner told me that the shop has been open for more the 20 year continually. That says a lot for any business.

Always professional, friendly, and they all make you feel very comfortable there. They’re usually booked up far out, but there’s a reason, they are the best artists in town, they’re worth the wait. Fantastic experience: I had my first tattoo done here, and the whole experience was great, even though I was VERY nervous. Carmelo eased my mind and was able to incorporate several things I wanted into one elaborate tattoo, because I told him this was the only one I ever wanted. Negative experience: Terrible!! Lied and said an appointment wasn't needed for a nose piercing. Arrived just for them to say they don't have time. If yall don't wanna service blacks just say that!! Spoke to the front desk lady on the phone then she stands there and lies!!

Positive experience: I’ve read through the reviews and I keep wondering if this is the same place I visited. I had a nose piercing and a tattoo cover up. I was in and out more than once and always wondered why the atmosphere was so impersonal. The only nice person I dealt with was the front desk lady. The piercing chick was ice cube cold and the tattoo I wanted I was talked out of and walked out with another tattoo I’m not thrilled with. What the ….?

Fantastic experience: 5/5 stars for Sarah who did my nostril piercing and has helped me multiple times with another piercing. She is easily the best piercer I've ever had. Incredibly gentle, professional, and knowledgable. I love piercings but am terrified of needles and she always helps me in the gentlest way possible. There's always some pain involved with piercing but she seems to reduce it to only what is absolutely necessary. Now, I will not go to anyone but her for anything piercing related.

Negative experience: worst service of my life. DO NOT make an appointment or put a deposit down unless you want to make an appointment 3 months before hand, and then finally get to that day, get there on time, and then have to wait 20 minutes, just to have them come tell you that they have to reschedule. i took my deposit and left, tattoo kings and cuts got me in WITHIN THE SAME DAY! and did my tattoo so amazing! AND i paid half the price i would pay there!! so so so amazing! i would not go here, they couldn’t have called me before hand ?? absolutely unprofessional.

Negative experience: The girl with the long red ponytail was super rude and dismissive. Told me my piercing was infected and would not even change it. Went to Evolved where they changed it, told me it wasn't infected just agitated, and it healed perfectly. She act like she hate her job. Go to Evolved.

Positive experience: I got my conch pierced a few weeks ago, and it was healing fine however, new skin started to form and cover my back piece. My back piece was completely covered with skin. I went back to Bodystain to have them look at it, only for the piercer to tell me that I needed to go to urgent care or ER. They couldn’t help me. I wasn’t happy about it, but I went to the closest Urgent care the same day, and they were not able to help me and told me to go to my primary care provider, and they would PROBABLY be able to help me. I panicked because I couldn’t understand why they couldn’t get my piercing out. So I decided to call another tattoo and piercing shop called Evolve Body Art on High Street, and they told me to come in and they would have a look at it. They were able to remove the skin from the back piece by piercing through it and gave me a long bar. I was able to keep my conch piercing and the swollen has gone down and it is healing now. Not sure why Bodystain couldn't just do that. I was told by the Evolve piercer that my skin covered the back piece because they gave me a short bar, and there was no room for my conch piercing to swollen up. I was told by Bodystain piercer that it was probably caused because I slept on it, and I have not for the past weeks. I was very cautious about not sleeping on it because I had also got two other piercing on that ear too that were healing too. If Evolve Body Art were able to fix my piecing for me in a matter of 2 minutes, Bodystain could have easily done this for me, but instead, I wasted a trip down to the urgent care that cost me. I will not be returning.

Positive experience: I came here about a month ago after reading all the wonderful reviews to get 2 earlobe piercings and a helix piercing. It was very busy (I did make an appointment) so it was pretty rushed. Didn't realize until recently my earlobe piercings do not match up.

Fantastic experience: I came here with my wife to have her Daith pierced. I can't remember the lady's name who did the piercing but she was awesome. My wife was nervous having heard about the process being painful. It wasn't. The piercing/tattoo artist was very professional. She explained everything she would be doing and what my wife would feel and put my wife at ease. After care advice was also very helpful and so far have had no problems.

Fantastic experience: I came in to get my first tattoo done and I had wanted to get a big piece to start a sleeve. Carmelo and I had talked and I let him know a few ideas I liked and wanted him to add his own ideas. Carmelo did an amazing job and kept me involved with his concept and ideas through the whole process. I couldn’t recommend a more professional and amazing artist. The people in the shop were supportive and kept checking it out along the way too. I will definitely be coming back to him and the bodystain family!

Fantastic experience: We had a great experience here. It was a last minute idea for my siblings and I to do to a memorial tattoo in honor of our brother. They got us right in and our artist Ailene was professional and compassionate and made sure each of us were comfortable to get the exact tattoo we wanted to honor our brother. Our daughter also got her nose pierced while we were there and the lady that did it was just as awesome ! Definitely recommend and we will be back to see Ailene

Fantastic experience: Everyone here was awesome! Super friendly, helpful, knowledgeable, and efficient staff all around! Got my eyebrow pierced today- booked a 30min online appointment which was easy and simple to do. When I got there the staff were expecting me and ready to go. Prices were very reasonable as well. Can't wait to come back for more work!!

Fantastic experience: This tattoo shop is PHENOMENAL! After a long day of being screwed around with trying to get a tattoo from other people/shops I stumbled across bodystain on google and I rang them up to see if they did walk-ins, they said yes, I walked in, told them what I wanted, especially Baby Jack who is the one who tattooed me, and he was able to make it happen. The atmosphere of the shop is outstanding, the staff is so cool (shoutout to big jack, baby jack, and Carmelo), and also the person at the front desk (I think they went by bug? I didn’t get a name for them but they’re dope!!) they really make it seem so friendly and so chill, while I was getting tattooed they were so inviting when it comes to conversation and just their overall vibes. When it comes to the tattoo… AMAZING!!! Baby Jack did such a great job, he was very accepting to feedback, things I wanted to change/ do differently, and even making tweaks DURING the tattoo which artists in the past for my other tattoos did not do. I definitely recommend Baby Jack, and I’ll definitely be going back to bodystain for future tattoos. Thanks guys!

Fantastic experience: Making an online appointment was an extremely easy, everyone was very friendly, professional and definitely clean! It was my first time going here, they made it feel like I had nothing to worry about and that I was in good hands. I especially liked my piercer, Shea! Fantastic experience: Very happy with my nose piercing. Healing has been very smooth. UPDATE: Almost 2 years later, I still have my nose ring. The healing process was smooth, I'm still very happy with it. I highly recommend them piercing!

Fantastic experience: I have yet to have a negative experience going to Bodystain. Carmelo did my first tattoo (photo) and worked expertly around that fact. He worked from least painful to most, and then filled in most painful to least so as the inflammation continued he wouldn’t be working on top of the inflammation in the more painful areas. He was quick and more than accommodating to my idea. He did this tattoo while I was in the process of losing weight. 50lbs later this tattoo is still perfectly centered and flows with my shoulder’s natural anatomy with impeccable finesse. I wish I had photos of my anklet, but my comments made on my shoulder remain the same for my anklet. Absolutely phenomenal. Sarah did my VCH piercing and I am nothing but ecstatic with it. Being a tender spot I had been nervous getting it done, but when I came in she did an exemplary job explaining the process and easing that anxiety with quirky humor sprinkled in - which is my favorite. After going into the back room she talked about the process of testing the hood to make sure a piercing there would be viable and explained the pain that was to be expected having it done. The piercing itself has healed *very* very well and I am incredibly satisfied with the symmetry & position in which it was placed. I have not gotten to work with all the staff who work at the Bodystain Tattoo shop, but with the experiences I have had, I am confident that the standards they have at this location make it a pinnacle of professionalism and experience in this field of work. I already plan to go back for additional tattoos and piercings.

Fantastic experience: I have been getting piercings here for a year. I go in to see Sarah and she does a great job. I have had 2 successful piercings by her and I got 3 more today. Everyone here is nice and professional. Anytime anyone asks where to get piercings, I tell them to go here and see Sarah! I love it here!
