2 months ago Fantastic experience: Several years ago my wife got a fantastic full color tattoo from Pistol Pete. We went there not just because he’s the Emperor of Coverups, but because of his fantastic artistry and overall tattoo mastery. Everybody who saw it was overwhelmed. I’d never had a tattoo before and finally decided to get one a couple of years ago, so there was no other place I even thought about going - it had to be Pistol Pete’s. And of course it was again fantastic! Over the last couple of years I’ve gone back again and again, with us adding to the arm. Everyone who has seen the work has been blown away and I‘ve been more than proud to tell them where I got it done. (And my wife got a piercing and another tattoo as well that everyone was raving about!) Friday night we completed the full sleeve. It is so awesome!! I love it. My wife loves it. I can hardly wait to show it to my friends and everyone I know. And then I’ll have to show it again after it’s fully healed. And we’re already looking towards working on the other arm. I get so excited while I’m sitting that I’m already thinking about the next tattoo before that one’s even done. For tattoos, piercings, and so much more - you can’t get better than Pistol Pete. 3 months ago Fantastic experience: I wouldn’t trust anyone else with my tattoo. Pete fixed what I thought was impossible. Hands down the best tattoo cover-up artist in the world and I looked around for a while. Worth every penny I spent.

3 months ago Negative experience: Got my septum pierced by this dingus back in 2020. I was put through so much pain and made to feel like the biggest inconvenience to this man. I only come back to voice my frustrations to warn others. DO NOT GET PIERCED HERE. Unless you want a piercing in the wrong placement that feels like you got punched in the nose for a month straight. I was only a kid at 18 and wanted my septum pierced and this was my first piercing ever. I’m lucky this experience alone didn’t deter me from ever getting pierced again. He wanted to pierce me with a 4g which even at my age I KNEW wasn’t standard and was made to feel like I was crazy for not wanting it because I knew I wanted the standard: 16g. I was fully okay with calling it a night and not getting pierced but this man INSISTED on traveling to a “friends shop” to grab 16g septum jewelry. After multiple HOURS of waiting (and him getting stuck in so called “traffic” at 11:30pm) I finally accepted that i had waited too long and felt like i “made” him go all this way to get this jewelry so I went back. After I was treated like garbage and pierced STRAIGHT THRU CARTILAGE (which hurt like ACTUAL HELL) this man charged me $100+ for a septum piercing that was pierced incorrectly. I felt like i was treated poorly due to the fact he went out of his way. Which I DID NOT ASK HIM TO, he OFFERED. I already had the jewelry in my face so i just gave him the money (and a GOOD TIP) and called it a night. After so many amazing piercing experiences throughout the years since I am glad to say I still enjoy getting pierced. No thanks to Pistol Pete’s. Even in other reviews others mention his attitude problem and I completely agree, i felt like I was treated like I was an inconvenience to him. If you can’t pierce a septum correctly, you should mention that before putting clients through so much pain and charging them an arm and a leg for poor work. My new piercer (Name removed just to further prove that there is no gain to any other shop from this post and it’s SOLELY to warn others) helped me finally feel safe with a piercer again! My advice: stick to tattooing, guy. edit: replying to the response to my review You had my legal birth certificate and texas ID with my legal name, not the nickname on my account so of course you didn’t find me. I will not be providing you with any further information either because I don’t need to prove anything to you. I have no reason or personal gain by lying about this. You absolutely did pierce me and that was the exact conversation. You’re correct, it was something that anyone with ACTUAL piercing knowledge would NEVER do or even consider but unfortunately that WAS my experience. You can try to cover for yourself and your business all you want but I’m just here to share my experience to warn others of your past negligence. Owning up to mistakes looks MUCH better as a shop owner than gaslighting honest reviews but it seems that it’s a common practice for this shop from viewing other review replies. Unprofessional.

We were not rude - we were transparent. Our piercings are priced based on professional experience, sanitation standards, and premium jewelry we stated that we were expensive and that we have a premium when you stated that you were only looking to spend $25 per Piercing we explained that we may not be the right fit. We stand by our quality and our pricing.

4 months ago Negative experience: SERIOUSLY DISAPPOINTING AND PAINFUL EXPERIENCE I paid a high price for nipple piercings, trusting I was receiving professional, knowledgeable care. What I got instead was a year of unnecessary pain due to improper technique and incorrect jewelry choice. After finally going to another experienced piercer, I was told immediately that the piercer who did the original work (the owner, Pete) did the job wrong. The bars were far too long and, more concerning, curved barbells were used instead of straight barbells, which are the correct standard for nipple piercings. This setup caused excessive movement, constant irritation, and extreme pain that should never have happened. Once the jewelry was replaced with the correct straight bars and proper length, the relief was immediate — confirming that the problem was the original piercing, not my body. I trusted this shop’s expertise and paid accordingly, only to later spend additional money fixing a mistake that should never have been made. This experience made it very clear that basic professional standards were not followed. I’m sharing this so others can make an informed decision before trusting this shop with their body — especially for an intimate piercing.

5 months ago Negative experience: Came to get my piercing put back in and he was trying to shove it in the wrong place and bent my jewelry that I brought with me. Now my piercing is bleeding and the hole is way bigger than it was. I understand he’s saying my piercing was closed so I left because he was still trying to shove my jewelry in. He called me back to yell at me asking why I wouldn’t pay the extra $10 to repierce it and why I was mad at him for not being able to get my jewelry through. Extremely unprofessional.
Hi there, I’m leaving this reply so future clients get the full and accurate context not the distorted version presented here when you walked in my studio your piercing was already bleeding, swollen and irritated the jewelry you had left out too long and you had already tried forcing it in back yourself that is what caused the swelling enclosure not anything I didin the shop by the time I saw the bottom half of the piercing was completely closed, which is why there was pressure when I attempted to guide the jewelry through the original channel that is not shoving that is the reality of trying to salvage a Piercing that is closing and already injured before you arrived I straightened your jewelry only so I could follow the proper angle safely and after getting it back through the top, I offered to pierce it with a correct piece and even offered a $10 re-pierce 90% off, purely to help you not because of any error on my end because we were from the same city Abilene you chose to walk out mid procedure because the piercing hurt which was predictable considering it came in bleeding and aggravated. Nothing about the situation was created by my technique. I called afterward to check on your condition and clarify your options not to argue yell or demand payment. I’ve been Piercing for 25 years. I stand by my work, my professionalism and my integrity the condition of your piercing before you was the real issue and I addressed it exactly how I a. qualified professional should
5 months ago Negative experience: I went in for a surface tragus piercing and had the worst experience. A short, scrawny Hispanic man did my piercing. He acted confident and told me he knew what he was doing, but he didn't even show me the placement marks before piercing - which should've been my first red flag. When he finished, the piercing was nowhere near my tragus. It was placed way too far, and I told him immediately. He brushed it off because he already got paid and was basically rushing me out the door. The next day I texted him asking if the placement could be fixed since it was obviously wrong. He told me l'd have to pay again. I told him I'm not paying for his mistake, and instead of being professional, he started arguing with me, calling me "Felicia" and "broke" — even though I paid AND tipped him. Tasked for a refund since he messed up my piercing, but he kept being combative, rude, and honestly just weird. Unprofessional, careless, and disrespectful. I would never go back, and I don't recommend anyone else go either.

I’m truly sorry to hear that. Your experience didn’t meet your expectations and I would like to clarify what happened from my side in a professional way before ever Piercing. I always mark the placement and have the client check in the mirror to approve the location Before any procedure begins in your case. You took the time to look at the placement and confirm that you were happy with the placement before the procedure if anything had looked off at that time, I would have gladly adjusted it to your liking on the spot and for you to say that you did not get out of the chair to look into the mirror just shows your character. My studio inside is recorded at all times, and if anyone wants to see her stand up and look in the mirror, I will gladly show that when you reached out the following
day requesting a new Piercing and a different location. I explained that the re-pierce would require a new sterile needle for safety reasons which is why there would be an additional charge. This is standard practice in our industry. There is no intention to be rude or disrespectful during our text exchange and I apologize if anything came across that way, my goal is always to maintain professionalism, even when conversations become difficult I also truly appreciated the tip. You left after the service. Let me know. You were satisfied when you left the studio. I value every client and pride and providing safe, clean and professional service if you would like to discuss this privately or find a resolution, I’m more than willing to speak with you directly so we can clear up any misunderstanding

8 months ago Negative experience: Horrible hostile environment overall The man has Napoleon complex or something Everything he says is hostile. This isn’t prison.. not recommended Edit: i told him everything he asked for multiple times with respect yet he will reply defensively. Showed him the whole process and everything. Also how did i scam you? Make it make sense i was there for 2 min and talked to u the whole time showing u the process.. how was i a threat as well? U are the one who gets defensive with people and confront people not me. Explain how i was fraudulent? U make no sense How about u just admit ur just a confrontational person and thats not only me saying it many reviews say it as well also this is a public business not a house so stop comparing it to a house, nobody walked into ur house. If ppl cant walk inside ur public business close it down. Its not hard math
We take all feedback seriously, but we also feel it’s important to clarify the situation for transparency. The individual leaving this review did not come in as a customer for a Tattoo or Piercing when I greeted him he ignored me and stated he was just doing some work on his phone after I asked if he was here for service he told me he worked for Google (I felt that was odd because the way he was dressed, was not in business attire, sandals, with socks, sweatpants, and a black T-shirt,) but did not provide clear information when I asked further questions. Eventually, he gave me the name of a consulting company named “JSAN” that had no clear connection to Google This behavior raise is very high, suspicious of fraudulent or scam related activity, which is why I continue to ask question as a business owner I have a responsibility to protect my studio, my staff and my customers from potential scammers or fraudulent activitywhen someone enters my business refuses to identify themselves and avoid direct question it raises concern..my questioning was never meant to be hostile. It was meant to ensure safety and legitimacy for our actual customers …we pride ourselves on providing a professional, welcoming environment for Tattoos and Piercings, which is reflected in the many positive reviews we receive this situation was not a typical client interaction, but rather a misunderstanding with someone who was not here for our services

9 months ago Fantastic experience: I went to Pistol Pete’s for a SEVERELY infected and painful Medusa/philtrum piercing. He was super helpful and talked me thru the whole process! The pain was absolutely horrible, which was expected, but once he got it removed it was instant relief! Honestly a 10/10 experience!! Definitely come here because he is very knowledgeable in what he does!

9 months ago Fantastic experience: I called to see if I could get my nose piercing changed out and Pistol Pete was super friendly over the phone. I told him I was driving from Oklahoma, so he asked me to call right before I left to give him an estimated time that I would get to his shop. I ended up being about 30 minutes late due to traffic, but as soon as I walked in, he knew who I was. He immediately took care of me, I didn'thave to wait at all. I was in and out in less than 15 minutes. Super super super nice guy. He even looked at a tattoo that I had concerns about. I would definitely recommend Pistol Pete's!

I already have my nose pierced on the other side and he did mine perfectly matching up with the other one! I’d definitely go back for my piercings and even tattoos!

I had a simple traditional mermaid outline sketched up and he took it to a whole other level! One of my favorite tattoos…and such a kind soul. Highly recommend!!!! 9 months ago Negative experience: Just had the most unprofessional conversation with one of the employees/owner. I’m not sure who he was. I was trying to bring my daughter in for a piercing, and he couldn’t specify what documentation was needed. The other places I’ve used to get pierced. All they needed was a birth certificate and my license as the guardian However he wasn’t able to specify what all would be needed. He just kept saying “and other documentation.” Then he called me back, called me a child and hung up on me and then proceeded to text me about it. As a business owner myself, I find this highly unprofessional and downright rude They get a zero from me for customer service.
OK, if we’re gonna tell the world what’s happened let’s be real. You called my studio questioning what you needed for your daughter to get a piercing. You asked me at the same time in the question can I use her passport and that’s it? I said you can use the passport as her identification, but we need identification document to prove who the mother is and we told you that we need the birth certificate to prove that and there may be other documentations needed. We won’t know until we know how the birth certificate reads we asked you if you were at home you said no we asked you if you had a picture of the birth certificate on your phone so we could go over the documentations to let you know what you needed you said nowe asked when you get home and you have the birth certificate in front of you. Can you call us back so we can go over the documentations you started screaming demanding that we use the passport because you had to use the birth certificate to get the passport. I told you that we cannot do that that if you could call us back whenever you have the birth certificate in front of you so we can go over the documentations together and let you know exactly what you needed. You screamed at me said no and hung up on me. so from you doing that I thought you were the child pretending to be the parent so I called you back and when you answered, I said, can you put your parents on the phone so we can assist you on getting your piercing done so they don’t get mad cause they have to make two trips you yelled at me saying that you were the parent and I said oh so it was you that was acting childish and I told you we do not service people who act in that manner, thank you for calling. I hung up the phone and then I sent you a text message that said sorry but we have the right to refuse service and we do not service parents who act like children and I said thank you for your interest though.
all it takes, is you to listen and follow rules don’t ask questions if you don’t like what the answers are going to be
for we follow the protocol of the Texas health department, rules, and regulations for tattoos and body piercings And this is what’s required in the whole state of Texas
10 months ago Fantastic experience: The tattoo I got from Pistol Pete is amazing! Beyond anything that I could have hoped for! He took his time, made sure I was happy with what I got. It was really important that I had quality work because it was a large portrait of my dog (who passed away in 2024) and Pete's quality is top notch and totally worth it. I would go back for all my tattoos. Plus, his shop was clean, and he always communicated about appointments

11 months ago Negative experience: Don't get me wrong Pete is definitely a good tattoo artist but he is just as good and alot of people in the area that are alot easier to deal with. dont go into the shop expecting to get what you are asking for because you will pay a ridiculous about before you ever get to see your tattoo and if you dont like what he has come up with HE WILL CHARGE ADDITIONAL TO RE DRAW THE TATTOO EVEN IF YOU WANT TO CHANGE LOCATION WITHOUT HIM HAVING DONE ANY ACTUAL DRAWING OR DESIGN. He is very difficult to work with so again my opinion is go somewhere else and talk to an artist that is respected of their clients time, opinions, and money
You know you could really tell who the True client is and who the one that got emotional because they heard the price and felt offended when really I’m the one who should be offended because you’re saying I’m not worth what I’m asking and then make up a whole bunch of nonsensebecause you never even gonna get tattooed by me in the first place nor did you even leave a deposit to book me out you just heard my Price got all upset and hopped on here and left a review. What the heck just like a childhood act childish
11 months ago Fantastic experience: Pete did my first tattoo, and was super nice! Me and the best friend got matching anchors in March and I was so scared at first. He talked me down and had me feeling calm and ready. I like that he has a light hand, was calm, asked me questions to keep me distracted, and didn’t mind my nervousness. He answered all my questions. I like that Pete is direct and tells you how it is. I think a lot of reviews take that as rude but I respect that. Theres no BS. As a first timer, I needed that. Thank you for the first tattoo and the tips on healing! It’s turned out great and healed very quickly.

1 year ago Fantastic experience: Had an amazing experience with Pete! They were able to safely re-pierce my earlobe after I developed a keloid from a previous piercing done with a gun. But the best part was that they managed to pierce with the specific jewelry I wanted that another piercer I went to said couldn’t be done. The process was smooth, professional, and way less painful than I expected. Highly recommend them for anyone looking for a skilled and knowledgeable piercer!

1 year ago Fantastic experience: I seriously have nothing but good things to say about this place! He doesn't do estimates/consults over the phone. He needs to see the canvas he's going to be putting his work on. Nothing wrong with that at all. He takes his time, so you won't get that rushed look to your tattoo. I've yet to get a piercing from him, but I can honestly say, his approach is spot on for anyone who's hesitant about it. He doesn't just stab and call it done. He talks to each client and will keep you calm through the whole thing. Pete is awesome. He will listen to you nervously chat while getting inked or pierced. I've gotten 6 tattoos from him now, and I'll be getting more. There's a reason he's the only artist I trust to ink me.

I contacted Pete around 9pm and by 10:30pm I was back home with fresh ink. The service was fast and friendly. I’m shy natured in new environments and I felt very comfortable and welcomed. We went on Friday the 13th and brought in our own request and he did an amazing job. Service and quality were amazing. We traveled from Galveston county and would definitely come back to get another tattoo or even a piercing. 1 year ago Fantastic experience: This is my very first nose piercing. I was very nervous but Pistol Pete was amazing. The entire process he talked to you to make you feel at ease and relaxed. He made sure you focused on him rather the piercing and in no time he was done. It was painless! He after care instructions are clear. Can’t wait to see how this heals up very satisfied!

1 year ago Negative experience: Stopped by wanted some ink. Drove 30 min just to see the shop. The guy talked me out of it on the phone. Bummer I saw it was highly rated. But the dude on the phone was sounding like he didn't even want my business. Darn no worries I'm certain another artist and shop will gladly take my money. Last time I checked the money is still green. Hopefully you don't talk customers out of supporting a local artist as company.

1 year ago Fantastic experience: I was looking for a nose ring and called and spoke to a man. I unknowingly interrupted his dinner and he was so patient and kind in answering my questions. He welcomed me by and said he will be back in an hour. He went as far as to shoot me a text and give me a heads up that he was on his way back. I had my little ones so we didn’t wait, but I just had to come leave a review. He was super cool and him caring about who he’s talking to says a lot!!

1 year ago Fantastic experience: I got my nose pierced before and it wouldn’t stop bleeding and got stuck within the week. When I got it redone from pistol the bleeding stoped the day of and after 4 days it dosent even feel like I got it done. It dose not hurt to blow my nose like the last piercing. If you don’t want an infection and to be properly told how to take care of it go to this place

1 year ago Negative experience: Went for my FREE consultation as Pete described on his text to me only be told once I drove an hour to get there that it would be a $200 retainer to have the consultation instead of $0 as he described in his text. The initial email I sent described in explicit detail what I wanted to have done but all he had were apologizes that the voice to text didn't catch the part about the $200.00 retainer and he said doesn't proofread his texts. When I pointed out the discrepancy he said that the retainer shouldn't be a problem if I want him to do the work which is totally not the point. If I'm shopping around with artists... why would I lock in with you instead of gathering info with the consultation as I thought I would be today. After I showed the text message he sent... he asked if I wanted to still talk about the tattoo but at that point... and after already being dismissed like I was the one who misunderstood or didn't do my research on him... I was totally turned off and declined. I picked him because of the work I've seen him do but good customer service is also important to me and if he's having issues communicating effectively before any ink gets added to my body... I don't have much faith for is there is an issue going forward.

1 year ago Negative experience: The first pic is a tat that I just got (from someone in Florida). A simple butterfly. This is what I asked for when I went to Pistol Pete 6 months ago. He told me that I would be very disappointed in that because anyone could have the same tat. He used a lot of words to convince me that I should let him create a custom tat that told my specific story. While in theory, this sounded good, what he ultimately designed is the 2nd pic. This was my 1st tat. It was going to cover my whole forearm. That’s not what I wanted. I admit that it’s my fault because I chose to give him the required $300 down payment based on his “trust me, you’ll love it” custom design yet to be seen. I didn't even get his draft of the design until 2 days before my appt (22 days after our signed agreement). He did make some tweaks to try to make me happy with it. But as much as I tried, I just couldn’t agree to put that permanently on my body. He told me that I was just being difficult and didn’t want to trust him even though he was the professional. The agreement also states that he won’t change the design once that $300 down payment was made. I asked if I could go back to the simple butterfly that I originally requested (which my current tattoo artist designed in 5 minutes). He said (per the agreement), that it would cost me an additional $100. I had to walk away. If you want something elaborate – he might be your guy. Some of his pictures look pretty amazing. If you want something simple, I would move on and find someone else.
