Negative experience: Let this review be a reminder to do more research and ask more questions when having a service like this done. I just went to this shop to take advantage of their Friday the 13th piercing deal on 2/13 and got my nostril and my belly pierced after wanting to get this done for years. I was excited after finding out that they included jewelry, but I was so nervous when I got there that I didn't even question the fact that they didn't ask me what jewelry I wanted. The staff was friendly though and the piercer was really sweet, but I felt like something was off with both piercings. She said the belly piercing was supposed to be less painful than the nostril, and it was more painful because I felt it go through one layer of skin, and then several seconds later it went through the other. The nostril was also done slowly, but since this is the first time I've ever gotten pierced, I thought this may have been normal. When I got home, I noticed that the jewelry was sticking out of my nose a bit and looked almost like a metal booger which after doing research, I realized she had used an L bar to pierce my nose rather than a flat back labret which is what should be used for this kind of piercing so that it's secure and doesn't move around too much, otherwise it can get snagged and pushed out easily. It also looked like it was at an angle and not placed straight into my nose. Today went to a (different) local piercing shop to get it switched out for a more secure nose ring, and when the piercer took a look at my nose she immediately refused to do it and gave me a full refund of the jewelry change service because she confirmed that the piercer who did my nose ring had pierced it at a bad angle meaning it would not be heal properly and her changing my jewelry would not fix it. I also had her check my belly just in case and she said that one looked okay for now but to keep an eye on it because whoever did it pierced it really deep and didn't leave much room for swelling. Overall I just feel super bummed out because I wasted time and money on a service that was done incorrectly. I do understand that on a busy day when piercings are being done back to back it's more likely that someone can make a mistake, but it's definitely still disappointing.

Negative experience: FALSE ADVERTISEMENT! The "3×3" tattoos for their flash are barely bigger than a quarter. They have you pay and sign the contract before showing you the stencil and of course I signed because I was thinking I was going to get a 3×3 tattoo. When I said I didn't want it because it's not the right size they said they can't refund just give you store credit. When asked if they can make it bigger to actually be the right size they acted like they couldn't do that either. If anyone is going to go to a flash event ASK TO SEE THE SIZE OF THE STENCIL FIRST.

Negative experience: Got my septum here but originally wanted a anti eyebrow piercing but the front desk lady told me it was pricey and wanted me to chose a different piercing as if i couldn’t pay that one but I was like whatever so I chose my septum AND then the piercer she didn’t even like say anything she just did my septum no talking just straight to it like she seemed all rude L place fr shouldve gone to Yoruba instead

Fantastic experience: I took my daughter to get her ears pierced. She was really nervous and the girl that did her piercings was helping us to keep her mind occupied. She was also pretty fast with the piercings.

Negative experience: The piercers aren't professional at all talking to each other the whole time I was getting my piercings and didn't even ask if I liked the placement or cleaned the spot before

Negative experience: I came here to get my nipples pierced in the guy did it wrong? He didn’t even pierce it through my nipple. It was through my Ariola. I came back the next day to get my belly pierced because I wasn’t sure if it was actually wrong or if I was just tripping, and I showed one of the girls , she then took Them both out and re-pierced them. It’s been about two months And the jewelry she used for my belly is rejecting. She pierced a thick piece of skin to where there’s no space for my swelling to go down, it’s been infected And pus has been coming out ever since. they never reimbursed me

Positive experience: Lowkey unwelcoming, someone at the front entrance was a person of few words, the process was quick tho, but staff are bit of unwelcoming and intimidating. Not as expensive as other shops.

Fantastic experience: came in and got multiple piercings the piercer was lovely very professional made me feel very comfortable especially the areas I was getting pierced she explained everything she was doing.. have I decide to get any other piercings I will definitely come back to her please ask for ROSE she did an amazing job and I am a satisfied customer

Positive experience: Prices are reasonable and the shop looks good BUT, the piercer with the braces doesn’t even greet you. I came to get my nipple pierced and she pierced it SOO slow I felt every bit of pain. After the piercing was done I realized she was putting in a short bar & I requested a longer bar so that they would have room to heal and swell. They don’t even provide longer bars, take your money elsewhere.

Negative experience: All the staffs where understanding and accommodating but the only problem was the conch piercing i received was paired with a curved barbell. (I only realized after I have gone home)When I went to a different location (brown pride) to have the jewelry replaced they had told me the piercer also did the piercing wrong. So in the end I left with no piercing. My friend too he got a septum here same time and they had to pierced it three times in the end it was still crooked. He also left with no piercing. I would advise to not get pierced by that person!

Negative experience: piercing me in the incorrect spot when i told her no and she claimed “i didnt hear you” thats not professional at all. and no discount given for a mistake now i have a hole in my ear even agter i told her i didnt like the spot

Negative experience: Crappy jewelry used for piercing. My navel piercing gems fell out in a month. The gems were already loose the day I got it done. Go to a different shop ya’ll.

Fantastic experience: I lovvveddd my experience here at brownpride and my piercer in particular was very kind and consoling. In addition to making sure I was happy with my piercing, she even engaged in conversation, which I really enjoyed because it wasn't uncomfortable at all. I’d come to this piercing parlor multiple times for multiple piercings that I have and I’ve always had a really good experience each time. My friends and I came in very indecisively not knowing what to get but I didn’t feel rushed nor ignored, they made sure I took my time and would help recommending jewelry. Getting pierced in brown pride has always been quick and fun! My piercer not only engaged in conversation, she made me feel comfortable and even showed me cute pics for inspiration of the ear stack I want (which she didn’t have to at all since I was getting a stacked ear piercings yet)! I recommend brown pride 100%!!!!

Negative experience: My biggest problem with this place is that the first thing they do as you walk into the door is take your money but the service does not match the price. If you’re looking to get pierced you might as well go ask a friend and get it done in their bathroom. Do not expect professional work from this place. I doubt people here are even certified in doing what they do. I came here to get 3 piercings, the lady came from smoking outside, straight to putting gloves on and getting to the piercing process, no hands or jewelry sanitation. I noticed she was going to pierce me with a needle that wasn’t lubricated so I stopped her and asked her to lubricate the needle which she did but I noticed that the lubricant she used was an opened container sitting on the side literally collecting dust. When she went on to pierce me she did my double helix in one pass with two needles, a very quick process which I wasn’t mad at at all however, it looks nice from the front but the back is in two unaligned places. I trusted that she did it right and I didn’t touch it to avoid irritation but this morning I woke up and felt my ear and one of the earring backs came off indicating that she didn’t secure it correctly, luckily I was able to find a plastic backing to keep it from falling out. Which leads to my next problem; on my opposite ear I got a conch piercing done and I brought my own gold jewelry to insert in the piercing application. Rose and I agreed that it should work for the conch but unfortunately, when she pierced my ear and applied the jewelry it didn’t fit so she had to remove the jewelry from my freshly pierced ear and insert a longer length from their supply into my freshly pierced, bleeding ear and this hurt tremendously. The issue here is that a professional would’ve been educated in piercing gauges and lengths for the different piercing styles and would’ve suggested a longer bar in the first place for a conch piercing. Do I recommend this place, NO! I think they are very unprofessional and the only thing they care about is collecting your money and pushing a needle through your body, they do not care about the client in any aspect. I think this place makes enough money to send their staff for proper training and I do believe it’s necessary. Rose also doesn’t seem like she loves what she does and she’s not passionate about her job. She has very poor communication and customer service skills. I would consider using Brown Pride again in the future but at another, more professional location with better staff. ✝️ Stay blessed.

Negative experience: Short female piercer with face tats was very unprofessional. Went in for a chest dermal piercing. She did not warn before doing the piercing and did not ask what size jewelry I would like. Took the jewelry out once before doing it again causing unnecessary pain. Very nonchalant throughout the process and did not tell me any aftercare information. Do not recommend!

Negative experience: This place is not good. I have been several times for tattoos and piercings, and I'm not sure whether it's the jewelry or the cleanliness of the tools, but both my friend and I got keloids. I have several ear piecings from numerous places and have never been subjected to a keloid ever. I know how to clean and do after care for piercings and this is the only place where I have this problem. They need to reevaluate their procedures, as i had the same issue with my belly button piercing.

Negative experience: Noooo parking .. park at the streets at your own risk in south centralonce you walk in it looks nice but the staff and aartists are not they were rude and cocky. And I felt descriminasted . Just because I’m 50 doesn’t mean I’m not a customer ! Idiots think only the young get tattooed.

Negative experience: Have encountered this company vehicle a good amount of times driving reckless on the 14fwy and 5fwy. No need to be going in and out of lanes at such a high speed. Going to cause an accident one of these days. Have consideration for those around you.

Fantastic experience: Came to pick up a new set of earrings and septum piercing. Would highly recommend getting any piercings done for a good price

Negative experience: Short female piercer, did not center my piercing after having asked me about it, she couldn’t even bother to remove the original marking so as not to confuse herself. She also looked half asleep. Because I already have a septum instead of speaking up and telling me it’s in her way she nearly stabbed me in the face trying to figure out how to get around my piercing since she didn’t remember she had the ability to set down the needle.

Fantastic experience: They are amazing, they take same day walk in, and their prices are reasonable. They are always kind when I come in and if everybody regardless of looks. They also stay very clean and professional! I loves it here

Negative experience: I went to brown pride tattoos nearly a month ago, I didn't want to make a review until I knew my tattoo was fully healed and I'm a bit disappointed with outcome of my tattoo. The letters have patches of ink missing, they're not as straight as I wanted them to be and the color purple was not what I wanted it was supposed to be a simple dark purple but after it healed it became almost a lavender color. I paid $280 +tip for the work and i don't think it's anywhere worth the price that I paid for the tattoo. Besides the tat I got I had a good experience, the place had a nice vibe and the staff were welcoming, the guy who did my tattoo was cool too and his work that I've seen on Insta is great but knowing how nice his work is I'm disappointed in what I got that day I feel like it could have been better. I'm not at trying to bash brown pride but I wish I had a better experience.

Negative experience: Went to their new location in down town LA the piercer gave me a crooked septum piercing. I’ve had one before I decided to let it close so I know what it’s suppose to look like.

Negative experience: * Piercing Review * Nose piercings are okay here. I got my septum here a few months ago, and it was done well. Nice price including jewelry. I recently got my navel pierced here, and had to take it out the next day. It was super crooked. Way too noticeable to play off with my posture or blame my anatomy. They also didn't leave enough room for swelling and used externally threaded jewelry. Honestly a bad experience which sucked because my first experience was good. Be careful with piercings here. I'd go to another shop for anything beyond nostril or septum.

Fantastic experience: I’ve went to Brown Pride for piercings since 2017 . In 2017 I went to get my middle tongue piercing , turned around and went back for my snakebite 3 months later. In October 2022, I went for my medusa and this year’s halloween I went and got the nipple piercings . All of my piercings healed in a timely manner with or without the aftercare products and they pierce you quickly. I highly recommend for anybody who easily develops keloids. I had my belly button pierced at the Slauson Swapmeet and it keloided. Will never go anywhere else but Brown Pride. They’re also extremely friendly. I’ll be seeing them soon to get my back dimples pierced .

Negative experience: Don’t get pierced here! I got my navel pierced and it had to get it removed within 4 days due to being pierced horribly and on the surface of my skin rather than the navel and basically took my money knowing I didn’t have the anatomy for the piercing.

I came here out of the many recommendations I was getting for this place I came here in April to get my Medusa pierced again after waiting 2 years from the previous time I had it pierced I even told the piercer that I was coming here to get it repierced because the last guy who did it pierced it crooked Well sadly it’s July already and it’s still looks crooked, I thought it would straighten out after a while because of how it gets swollen but no It sucks bc I really adore this piercing & now I need take it out & wait for it to heal again and spend more money /: I feel like this could have been prevented if the piercer wasn’t distracted by her friend/coworker about what they were gonna get for lunch and if they wanted subway /: I feel like I just spent $ for a slanted piercing

Fantastic experience: Honestly, being the first person to get peirced the day I went, I absolutely loved it. I was so worried at first, but they let me take my time the girl who peirced me helped me pick a spot that would match with my nose type and allowed me to adjust if I wanted to. The process took less than 5 minutes in and out of the place. Everyone was quick efficient and welcomed me, going back for sure. Thank you for the B Day piercing !! If you do plan on going to get peirced, go early !!

Negative experience: I got my snake bites on my lips about a year ago and the side that was done by an older lady healed nicely. However, my right side was completely uneven and pierced crookedly, which complicated the healing process and still gives me issues. It’s a great place but the employees can pay more attention to their clients.

Negative experience: came here to get my belly repeirced bc the end of my belly piercing closed up & the girl ended up making a brand new hole when i specifically said i just wanted the end of the closed hole open… she makes a whole new hole? and then to try to make it better she says “ u can’t even see the other hole”?? like what?… i came to get it repierced not get another one when i already have one open… never coming back. worst experience ever & on top of that she gives me a face as if im not paying her.

Negative experience: This place has a good environment overall. Though if you’re planning to do a walk-in they tell you you’ll wait around 30 minutes to an hour. I ended up waiting for 4 hours and a half.

Fantastic experience: Amazing again, i was able to fix my lettering in my back. I have my last name and boy can i tell you. "Namz" one of the artist there is a beast people. Yo he killed my lettering & it was on point a fixed up tattoo.

Fantastic experience: I was there for the 4/20/23 special on piercings. Although there was a lot of people, it was busy the shop was very clean. The staff is very nice, very professional. My piercer is a pro! I got 5 piercings, and she did them all strait in. It didnt hurt, even when she added the jewelry. This was the second time being there. I'm from the 818 and I'll make the time to get pierced there always.

Negative experience: Good Service but i just got my tongue piercing done & came out crooked.

Positive experience: MID Ive come here on multiple occassions and they have always had Long wait times and terrible service. The front desk receptionists they hire know near nothing about the industry. Their pricing is okay, but sometimes it changes. Make sure to ask for pricing beforehand. Body Jewlery is low quality, small selection, and, externally threaded at $10 a piece. Piercing quality really varies. Tattoo artist should be looked into before booking.

Negative experience: Got my dermal 3 months ago. Purchased my own to switch out the one they gave me . Girl wasn't equipped with the right hemostat her words not mines. Whole thing came out as she twisted to remove it. Got a second one done . This morning the second dermal came out as I was gently cleaning around it . Called to complain of course no manager or anyone to take responsibility. Why are you giving me a hard time when you incompetent business isn't equipped with the right tools to render a paid service. These technician's probably aren't even licensed to pierce let alone answer any questions regarding bad service or experiences. I'm left with 2 holes on my face now . Just go somewhere else

Negative experience: This place is so bad. They’re really rude and super dense when it comes to piercings. They girls up in the front really don’t know anything about sizing or piercings to begin with. Not to mention the piercers themselves are so egotistical. I’ve been there enough times to know they never take accountability. Got my double nostril and it’s horrible, crooked. Go to tinta rebelde much better piercing quality and just better all around. Idk why this place is still up and running after all the sketchy stuff they do.

Negative experience: The chick made my piercing all crooked, she offered to redo it I asked if it would leave scar tissue since she'd be piercing it right away again she said no and today the inside of my lip is swollen and red. Also second hole she made is uneven. Do not recommend.

Positive experience: Stitch did a small tattoo for me, I love how it came out! He’s very talented and professional. Made me feel very comfortable and did a great job! The only thing is, this shop has a lot of different artists and as a walk-in you basically have to wait around for one to become available. So plan to be waiting for a while.

Negative experience: I used to come here to get all my piercings and went again to get two new ones on my ears. I drove 40 minutes in traffic btw. Everyone in the shop was helpful and friendly except the lady who pierced my ears. They are all new staff from the last time I went there. After getting my piercings I didn't end up liking the placement of one and decided to remove the piercing and get it re pierced by the same lady. I just wanted it to be aligned with my other piercings. The lady started making faces and started complaining that I wanted to keep switching positions of the mark. She wasn't being patient even though I was paying again. As a paying costumer and me not complaining or being rude about getting pierced again, and also paying again she should of just been patient and not have an attitude. This lady who's tatted needs to learn more about customer service. Too young, unprofessional, with a terrible attitude. I'm never going to get my piercings here again. Terrible experience.

Negative experience: DO NOT GET PIERCED here! While the piercer was nice, they failed to inform me that my ear isnt compatible with an Industrial piercing. Picture provided was taken a month after getting it done, it was giving me problems despite my diligent cleaning and care (I have several other piercings and have never had this much problems). I kept it for months before finally letting it go after almost having the upper half rip my ear from a hair pull. In-between me having the piercing, I messaged their Instagram about better care tips and if my ear was even capable of having an industrial in the first place and NO RESPONSE. I had another location confirm my ear was not compatible. In addition, I've had a friend have a rough rushed time getting pierced at this location as well. I believe their intentions are more about getting your CASH then caring about who they pierce. NOT WORTH IT.

Negative experience: Was given one price before the tattoo, keep in mind it was a tiny name on my ring finger. I was told $ 60 but they charged my card $80 . Over priced! And liars!

Negative experience: i literally cant stop crying , i just left the shop and not to make reference to. womens body but its the only way i know to describe her as the very very thin young latina girl who recently started piercing there . ive been coming here for a long time , ive spent plenty of money here and the other girls that work there know me well . i took a chance and let her pirce me because the other heavy set girl that usually does my piercing was off but that proved to be a huge mistake . i went for cheek piercings and i can not feel the right side of my face . she messed up horribly but the worst part was she went to the back and completely blamed everything on me when jaquline her boss who refused to give me the owners information or my money back came out she had her mind made up about me and what happen. all i asked for was my money back and they refused . i would have walked away and continued my business there with my regular piercer but it was so embarrassing and humiliating the way the young lady stood over me in my face and lied . as if i wasnt already traumatized because she just botched my face now im being attacked i could not hold my tears back i just pulled around the corner and cried and cried . ive never ever had an issue like this with brown pride i literally come all the time they are clean and the ambience is nice even the kids tht watch your cars and seat you are cool as heck. but that young lady has traumatized me . her attitude was disgusting, to cover her butt she threw me under the bus completely in such a vulnerable situation. i didnt deserve that and i pray that god has mercy on them for what they did to me tonight. i doubt the owner knows that there business is being ran like this .

Negative experience: I came here in May to get double nostril piercings. The girl who did my piercing was friendly but the overall experience seemed quite rushed. I've had my nostril pierced about three times and have never had a tough time with the healing process. Soon after getting pierced I started developing irritation bumps which is not unusual for cartilage piercings so I continued to baby it but it only got worse. I suspected the irritation bump was due to the quality of jewelry and angle of the piercing itself. As I tried to change the L screws I was pierced with to titanium flatback studs it confirmed my suspicion that it is definitely pierced at a steep angle. I have now retired the piercings and plan to get repierced again somewhere else once I am healed.

Fantastic experience: The process to get the piercing is a lot. But I appreciate the reasoning behind it. It allows them to sanitize all surfaces and keep everyone safe. Plus best prices I've seen by far. Thanks everyone

Fantastic experience: It's been 4 months since I last went. Went for my septum piercing and I loved it. So clean, everyone is so nice, the jewelry is neatly organized, process was easy. Although they don't actually tell you what to do, they do hand you a card that has the aftercare instructions (which isn't bad). The only issue I personally had was that they didn't tell me what size the jewelry is, in gauge or diameter (might be my fault for not asking). But overall, it was a great experience, they even sell aftercare products.

Negative experience: Really poor experience. I felt pretty uncomfortable the entire time. There was an employee very close to me while I was getting pierced. My piercer seemed nervous and had to re pierce my nose. I came with my sister and their piercer also had to re pierce them because they misunderstood what my sister wanted. Piercers weren’t rude, but the process felt rushed or carelessly done. I’ve been to multiple tattoo shops, and this one was by far my worst experience.

Fantastic experience: I got a sternum tattoo by Namz and it was amazing! The place itself is really vibey and clean. The customer service here is amazing and I loved how someone immediately approached me and led me to the waiting area. The tattoo turned out exactly how I wanted it to be and super glad how the whole process was sanitary and clean. Everyone kept their masks on, and placed disposable blankets on the chair before the customer laid on it. I found my new favorite tattoo place (it's only 8-9min drive away from USC) and the price was one of the best around here. Definitely check them out! Not gonna lie, wish I'd found them sooner. Also Namz was really kind and professional. He printed out few sizes of the tattoo design I wanted so I can choose which one looks better. Couldn't recommend him more!

Positive experience: From the moment you walk by you are helped immediately. The staff is on deck. Everything is clean and in order. Very well organized. Super sanitary. Just really impressed. My third time at this shop.

Negative experience: I got my nose pierced and i’ve had it pierces before but it didn’t hurt for weeks but i feel she hit a nerve not sure but it’s bruising

Negative experience: I had been contemplating writing this review but I’ve finally decided to speak out on my experience. First and foremost, I had heard great things about this shop so I decided to finally go and give it a chance. I went into the shop about 4 months ago and I decided to get my nostrils pierced both left and right & also my naval (belly button) and honestly it was a HUGE HUGE HUGE! mistake. The first nose piercing (left) was done good however when I asked the woman to do my right side I asked her to make sure it was symmetrical and it was done so uneven. And lastly my naval piercing (bellybutton) was done and because I am chubby I asked her to do it correctly because I had an incident at another shop where it was done on the surface of belly piercing rather than going through the hole of my inner belly button. I expressed this concern to her and she said okay and proceeded to pierce me EXACTLY where the scar of the bad piercing was done leaving me with yet another ridiculous belly piercing that lays above my naval and not in it. And to top it all off the jewelry that I was left with for my naval must have been poor quality because it was giving me an allergic reaction. So to anyone reading/contemplating coming to this shop for piercings, please go somewhere else because this place is NOT it. I’m glad I didn’t take my grandmother here to get her ears pierced after my situation.
